  1. Can't seem to get letter spacing (kerning) to become active regardless of font used. The drop-down menu shows either 'auto' or '0%' as active, with all other available spacing options (i.e., -5% etc) greyed out. To replicate, type some text, then select Text->Show Character (or CTRL+T), and try to enter a value to adjust kerning (top left box under 'Positioning and Transform').
  2. I've noticed an counter-intuitive result when editing text in Affinity. If I highlight a section of text, then type over it, I expect the resulting text to maintain the styles of the previously highlighted text. However in Affinity, only the first typed character keeps the style, the following characters use the styles of the text AFTER the insertion point. Example: I type two lines of text. I make the first line bold I highlight the whole first line (triple click) I type to replace this line with new text. The resulting text has a bold first character, but regular thickness for the rest. I'm not sure if this is by design, but it's really annoying!
  3. There are issues with text styles that may (or may not) warrant looking into. Several attributes (paragraph spacing, font sizes, font styles, etc) do not remain once they've been set. Recreate the issue by creating several new styles, and apply them to a paragraph. Once applied, return to the style style panel(s) to alter the settings. You may (or may not) see that your values previously set have changed dramatically, without user input. Am using version 1.5.0.29 (RC5).
  4. Is there no way to update a style in the Styles panel and have all object that use that style update? I've been searching around but can't seem to find a way to do it.
  5. Ok maybe I'm missing something here but I know I was able to rename object styles in previous betas and now I can't seem to do it?? I't been a while since I played with Affinity so maybe I've forgotten?
  6. I had this broken Text Styles Window: Then I switched in settings to english and reopened the program, after that it was OK: I switched back the language again but the problem is gone now. UPDATE: I can reproduce it. Start AD, create new empty document (Print (Press-Ready)) If Text-Styles are already visible --> Menu -- View --> Studio --> disable Text Styles Restart AD, create new empty document (Print (Press-Ready)) Add some Artistic Text, and keep it selected Menu -- View --> Studio --> enable Text Styles
  7. version 1.5.0.9 Can not find text or paragraph styles panels. Unable to create text or paragraph styles.
  8. I'm enjoying playing around with AD and I've discovered I can create styles using my extensive collection of seamless tiling bitmap fills so nice! Now my next question is say I wanted to share a style that uses a bitmap fill does a copy of the applied bitmap get stored within the AD styles file? or would I need to supply the bitmap externally in a zip file? Of course I would only share bitmaps that I have created and have the the rights to share. :)
  9. i accidentaly deleted history and layers and fx and styles from right side tool bar can someone tell me what to do ? hlp.afdesign
  10. I had created several styles and then decided to clean up my styles by recategorizing them into new categories. I ended up having to create new objects, apply my existing styles to them, create new styles in the new categories that I had created, and then delete the old styles from the default categories. I tried to find out where Affinity Designer stores the styles on my disk but was unsuccessful. I was hoping I could solve the problem at the Finder. So where are the styles stored and can they be edited? If not, I will add a feature request to be able to move styles between categories. Thanks... Fred
  11. I began with the Trial version of Affinity Designer (1.4) and created some styles using straight lines (strokes only) and polygons with different strokes and fills. It went well. Then I purchased AD 1.4.1, but the styles didn’t work. It would not allow me to create a style as a stroke only. It required stroke and fill. When I used the styles, the strokes were of different thichnesses than defined. Can I make the Styles work in 1.4.1 as they did in the Trial version (1.4)? Thanks
  12. I'm finding that when I create a custom style, the stroke colour and fill colour are applied, but not the stroke width.
  13. Just had to dump an hours work as I was playing (yes without a save) and applied a style to an adjustment layer which I could not undo even by clearing the filters .... I think the application of styles should be included in the history area to enable a quick undo! - This of course might be a bug....
  14. Hi, I just wondered if there is a shortcut for selecting the eyedropper. I'm kind of used to the double click of a colour and then selecting another like in Adobe Illustrator. The behaviour in AD appears to be to click and drag on the eyedropper. It may be me but I find it a bit convoluted. Also is there a way to copy one object's style attributes and paste to another, rather than creating a style first and then clicking on it. I'll apologise now if I've missed something glaringly obvious, I usually do!
  15. Happy new year! In previous versions of AD I was able to simple double click on any .afstyle or .afpalette file and AD would install it automatically. Now it says the files are corrupt. But if I go through the Style Studio palette's menu, it works, but each file has to be selected one at a time, it won't allow me to select a group of files and import them at once. This whole approach is super tedious. With each beta we have to reload all our styles, palettes, etc. And then we have to do it again for APhoto. I can't wait for the APublisher beta update process, lol... PLEASE consider creating a shared, central location for ALL Affinity presets, styles, palettes, etc. in the user's Library or Documents folder, that is independent from the apps. Thanks for all you do.
  16. I finally figured out how to blend in patterns correctly, so here is a set of Wood, Leather, Cork, Stone, Crust, and Cookie styles. The patterns make the file size too big for the forum, so here's a link to download it from my site. Sorry for the previously broken link. You can find this and others at https://dscape-llc.com/affinity
  17. I was bored so I converted more of my old styles over to Affinity format. Hope you enjoy them! Find this and more at https://dscape-llc.com/affinity
  18. A set of holiday styles I whipped up quickly for a friend. Figured I'd share them out to anyone that may find a use for them. Find this and more at https://dscape-llc.com/affinity
  19. Is there not a way to add my saved styles, which are quite a few now, all at once? They way it is now on beta, its only one at a time. This is real time consuming. Can we multiclick at least on this? May a drop down like PS does to add styles in bulk?
  20. If I create a layer style and I would like for it to scale proportionately whether the document is 72 ppi or 300 ppi , what do I need to do set this up? I know that you always get the scale with object checkbox in each effect but how does this play into setting up what I want to do? I have found that styles I have already made that looked great in the document I created to make the styles, but when you use those styles on different size objects, the effects are blown out of proportion. PS has scale effects which solves this.
  21. As brilliant features tend to extend, I am increasingly worrying about some ordering of menu list items. Right now, they are just added to the end of the list when imported. For instance, the items shown in attached screen prints could benefit from some sorting (at least for me). Something automagically alphabetic would already work better for me, but ideally, I´d just like to drag them where I´d like them to be, so a manual way of doing it would serve me quite well. As an example, if you look at the long list for the pixel brushes for instance, I´d love to be able to drag all DAUB brushes to where I´d like them to be, all together close to the top but below the default ones coming with the product. Not only cosmetic AFAIC, it´s also that I just use some more than others. Thank you for reading!
  22. Hey fellow Affinity friends! Have some new styles – fresh of the press. :) Played around with styles today and came up with the idea of the letterpress effects. A bit desdaturated, but these are just the presets. Obviously you can try different blend modes, colors and backgrounds. This is how the four different styles look like if you use them directly on text or vector layers. Use on path-based layers recommended, the effect doesn't show off well on pixel layers … And this is what they may look like after fiddling around with perspective and some further effects applied. Anyways, the afstyles are packed as a zip – have fun messing around! :D Letterpress & Embossing.zip
  23. Here's a story to illustrate when this feature is useful: In Designer I applied a style to all the buttons and text in a UI design for an iPad app. When we started testing the app we found that the text was difficult to see so I created a new style with higher contrast. Because I had used that style on about fifty different items, it took me twenty five minutes to select each one and apply the new style to each. Here's the actual feature request: The styles in microsoft word (and also in CSS web design) are nice because once you apply a style to a section of the document, you can edit that style directly and all the portions of the document currently following that style will automatically update. It would be really wonderful if affinity could also do this. A difficulty: Sometimes I apply a style but then make changes to an individual item so that it doesn't exactly match the settings of the original style. In this case, it might be best to just remove that item from the list of items following the style so that it won't get updated later when we make changes to the original style.
  24. I have spent a few hours playing with the trial version of Designer. It seems to work like a charm, however, I don't seem to be able to export SVG images with CSS style sheets, either external or internal (CorelDraw works quite good in that respect). In Designer, all SVG style information appears to be in the form of in-line styles, resulting in unnecessarily large file sizes and making it difficult to use various css features and/or script manipulation of SVG images. Is this something you may be considering for future—hopefully not very distant—releases?
  25. Had a little fun trying out some new styles! https://www.dropbox.com/s/c289kkpvnipx110/Assortment%20Styles%20Vol%201.afstyles?dl=0
