  1. How do we do Block Shadow? As far as I understand this feature is not available. Actually, it is a much-needed feature.
  2. How do I add more than one shadow (effect) to the same layer? For example, adding two different shadow effects to the same object?
  3. You’re propose your app as a tool for work in vector. This is not true. You can add a lot of elements easily, work with color, blur etc. But once you need to scale the vector object you’ve created YOU SHOULD MANNUALLY GO TO EACH OBJECT AND SET “SCALE WITH OBJECT” Could you please set as priority ticket for your developers add a SCALE FUNCTION when you can just click on the object, click in Edit Menu “scale”, set ratio or percentage and you will get scaled option of your image. In addition your export feature need so much power from my Macbook that comparing it to the Illustrator. I’d better avoid all of those coll things you’re proposing just to get scalable and adopted vector file.
  4. How can I create a unique shadow layer. I think in Affinity is the onlyest way, to coloured and gaussian blur the cut image for under layer? In PS I have the option to create a own layer from the level style. Something like that goes with affinity? In this simple example, it is not a problem, but there are complex scenes of where it would be a great help. Thanks for your Ideas Alexis
  5. Hey, just wanted to share with you my latest tutorial on Affinity Designer. In this video you will learn how to create a nice looking flat design moon in Affinity Designer. Hope you'll find it useful! Click here to view the tutorial
  6. When trying to add a shadow / outline or something from effects on to a layered or grouped item the outline lets say turns green instead of red. Why would this be? I can't for the life of me work it out. P.s. I am a newbie to Affinity products and the forum. Thank you Andrew Windsor. bowling1.afdesign
  7. I came across a tutorial for reducing 5 o'clock shadow or stubble from a photo. Can anyone help me accomplish the same thing in Affinity Photo? In particular, there's a step in this Adobe Photoshop tutorial (link below) where a "pattern" is created, and then the Healing Brush makes use of this pattern to effectively reduce the stubble. I'm not sure there is such a feature in Affinity Photo for creating a pattern that would be usable by the Healing tools. Or..... as often seems to happen inside Affinity Photo, maybe there's a better way than the Adobe approach. Thanks for any good input anyone can provide. *** Photoshop tutorial: Reducing 5 O’Clock Shadow And Beard Stubble In Photoshop ***
  8. I’m curious how I create a similar effect? I’m looking to create the colored shadow that surrounds two objects that are close to each other.
  9. Hello all! I'm trying to make shadows that follow Google's Material Design (Like in the lightning logo attached). I know to make a curve with a darker color, but I cant get it to snap perfectly- with the same diagonals, etc. Another picture below is something I'm trying to make, but as you might be able to see, the diagonals from the bottom part of the plus and the top part are not the same. Let me know. Thanks!
  10. I know this is not a clone of DrawPlus, but I cant deny the fact the shadow tool is very limited in 'Designer' and 'Photo' compared to DrawPlus and this is something I would really appreciate being worked on and implemented in the future. Cheers Ryan
  11. When you add the bevel/emboss effect you can change the light direction. The problem is that the shadow should be at the opposite side of the light.
  12. in Affinity Photo and Designer, I have created a file in Affinity with an imported image, created a symbol of that image, then used it to create letters. I grouped the objects then added an outer shadow to that group. When I exporting to png without background the shadow isn't being exported. Shadows do export with a background. Is exporting outer shadow fx not possible without a background? My workaround is to export to Photoshop then export to png.
  13. I just want to copy the same effect values to the other object and I already disable 'Scale to Object' checkbox before copying. The copied result is still scaled effect. Please try my file. (copy the round rectangle to the triangle) copy_outline_stroke_bug.afdesign
  14. I'm very new to affinity, and have been working on this piece i've attached. I'm trying to create a shadow effect, but can't seem to figure out how to make it look proper. I've started by doing the orange text bit (which is exactly how I want it to look), I then copied it, flipped it and mirrored it, changed the colour and made the opacity low, but i'm not sure how to alter the "shadow" aspect to look like a shadow. I'm aiming for the light source to me coming from above the "M" at an angle towards the bottom corner of the "C". Any tips or help would be greatly appreciated!
  15. I have a problem by using the Shadow and Highlight sliders of the Develop Persona. Please compare the two results. The only thing I tweaked have been the Highlight slider to -100% and the Shadow slider to +100%. All other switches set to OFF/Unchecked, in Camera Raw and also in Develop Persona. The only exception was the usage of the Camera Colour Profile "Neutral" the RAW file offers (not available in Develop Persona), but this only affects subtle the colours. Camera Raw also applied the automatic lens correction profile, which is also not recognised by Develop Persona. Everything else was disabled (sharpening, denoise, etc.). Please see attached results. The one on Develop Persona is unfortunately much worse than the one of Camera Raw/Lightroom. I also attach the RAW file. I am very keen on your reply to this, and I really appreciate in advance. Hey guys, there is a problem on upload of Lightroom/Camera Raw generated JPGs to Affinity Forum sites, this error only occurs if I want to upload the Adobe generated JPG sample: Best regards, Roland RAW File: DSC00644.ARW Camera Raw Output attached as Zip: DSC00644-CameraRaw.jpg.zip

  17. I'm currently learning Affinity Designer and saw a tutorial for making some icons in Adobe Illustrator. I decided to try making some to use and learn different tools and processes. In the tutorial they show how to make a shadow of the icon by moving to the side and using 'Blend Options' to create many steps so that it looks like a continuous shadow and not a duplicate shape behind (In the hyperlinked tutorial on Icon 1, Step 5). Just a shape behind, not continuous. Continuous. What I'm trying to achieve. So basically, I am asking to see what is the best way to achieve this in Affinity designer? Is there a similar feature available to that in Illustrator?
  18. Hi again, as I was importing some of my SVGs, I noticed some slight issues with their appearance in Affinity. So, I did some testing and found out what was causing these issues. I've created a separate file for each bug (14 in total). It should become clear by following the instructions below. If not, just let me know! Disclaimer: Importing the first file will (most likely) make Affinity crash. Please save your work progress before trying! Instructions: 1. Open the attached files in a web browser 2. Now import them into Affinity (Photo or Designer) 3. Compare both versions closely Cheers! ------------------------------------------- Affinity Designer Version: 1.5.1.43 Affinity Photo Version: 1.5.1.54 Operating System: Windows 10 1_crash_when_colour_capitalised.svg 2_stroke_although_colour_not_set.svg 3_no_fill_when_colour_capitalised.svg 4_incorrect_gradients_when_gradientUnits_objectBoundingBox.svg 5_nested_svgs.svg 6_no_repetitive_gradients.svg 7_stroke_dasharray_wrong_direction_starting_point_array_too_short.svg 8_no_patterns.svg 9_incorrect_skewing.svg 10_no_drop_shadows.svg 11_no_blending.svg 12_close_path_and_moveToEnd(!).svg 13_no_masking.svg 14_no_markers.svg
  19. Hello everyone! When trying to light a scene, I see some limitations to the "Lighting Tool": There are steps between the different shadings creating an outline for seemingly each used color value. Is this an intended optimization? Is it just the way this tool is limited? Or is this a bug of some sort? I first thought it was a limitation of 8 bit documents, but even after using 16 or 32 bit, this doesn't improve. Best wishes, Shu
  20. I raise this thread from AD beta forum to here because I cannot find the same report by searching. It also happen to the current store version. Please fix it next beta. Cheers :)
  21. Hi, I tried searching the forums for the answer, but nobody seemed to need the thing I do. The thing is, in my work there's a repetitive task of extracting objects/products photographed on white seamless background in such a manner to save its shadow separately. So extracting the object in AP is as easy as in PS, but how to select the shadow so I can then place the object with its natural shadow on a different background? The method I use in PS is to CMD click the RGB channel icon to select the image highlights, then CMD+I to invert the selection (to select the shadows), then I create a new layer and fill it with black which gives me only the shadows in the image, but they sit in a separate translucent layer, so I can place this shadow on any background in future. Then I cut out just the object/product, and have it on a separate layer above the shadow, with full color and opacity. This way I can place the object with its shadow wherever I need, be it a color background, a gradient, a texture – doesn't matter because the object is opaque and the shadow is semi-transparent and falls off naturally. I know AP is different from PS and I don't really want to do this the same way, just to get the same result. How do I do it? Thanks a lot in advance :)
  22. Hello, I'm not sure if this is the right section of the forum to ask question of how to do certain things in Affinity Photo. I need some help on how I can create shadow of a person. I cut a pasted a person in an image and would like to make it as real as possible, but I can't figure out how to add a shadow. Thank you
  23. Every time I try to do this with the effects the shadow goes both outside and inside the rectangle. I have a photo inside of the rectangle and I want for there to be a shadow coming from the rectangle onto the photo. I would think that I would go to "inner shadow" under effects to do this but it isn't working for some reason.
  24. Hello, I just saved my work to svg. format. Suddenly, I notice that the shadow from hand images that I've created using drop shadow effect are saved separately in PNG. format. I get confused what is that things so I try to delete it all. But then my saved images will be like this.. Do you notice that 'x' dot? The shadow disappear. Could it be my work step just not right? I get this hand downloaded from some free vector images website. I change the colour and add simple stroke and drop some shadow outside. Finally, I click expand appearance because I want the stroke to follow scaling together with that hand image (while scaling). So how do I remove that 'x' dot and save the image normally (together with the shadow, not in separate way)?
