  1. Currently, if you click on an empty (hollow, unfilled) area that's surrounded by an object, Designer will select that object. This is frequently (perhaps even usually) not what you want, especially since there can be numerous objects surrounding the empty area (thus making the selection uselessly ambiguous anyway). Currently in Designer you have to use the Option key to cycle through ALL overlapping objects. That is a deal-breaker. I find it incredible that this is deemed an acceptable way to work. How many illustrations don't have objects depicted within the boundaries of other objects? In the attached example, I can't select the blue line by clicking on it, even though nothing's covering it. Please fix this.
  2. This is basically a bump of this topic: https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/13457-pressing-the-space-bar-when-drawing-a-shape-should-temporarily-allows-us-to-move-it/ Attached a gif from the thread to more easily describe it.
  3. Hello, I have been using photoshop by now and am new to affinity.. I am trying to find a selection tool that lets me select different points like e.g. the "magnetic selection tool" in photoshop, if there is something like that at all. Thanks for your advice
  4. When I'm designing I deal with text, graphics and photos. I am constantly switching from move tool to text tool. What is the fastest way to interchangeably switch from Text tool to Move tool. I know Escape is the one key and clicking outside the text box while holding Command so then to select V for the Move tool. The same case in illustrator, but I wonder if there is a plan to find a faster or more accessible to one key that does both. I have been on AD and AP since December. Trying not to use my old version of CS, so far so good, I have completed two designs with AD..
  5. Hello. I have a t-shirt design I was working on this pasted weekend, and no mater what I did in Affinity Photo, I could not cut out a white background from a scene shot I had taken to use on this product. I'm trying to switch from Photoshop, where I could cut out a white background with ease, to Affinity Photo looking pretty bad and unusable. Could anyone please tell me what I am doing wrong here? I would love to stop using Photoshop, but I can't when I can't even cut out a simple background. Note: I put a white box over the design just so no would think I'm trying to advertise my T-shirt here.
  6. In this tutorial we look at a family portrait and how to swap out the face of one of the kids who doesn't look to happy. Enjoy... How to swap out a face Allan
  7. I've been using Photoshop since 92 and one of my most used tools it the lasso tool. I've been using the beta version of Affinity Photo for a few weeks and the most troublesome aspect for me so far is the Freehand Selection tool. The Lasso tool has the option to click a point and move to the next point until the entire selection is complete. You can see your selection being created as you move. With the Freehand Selection tool rather than just seeing the line your creating you have "marching ants" with the start point connected to the end point. For complicated (and simple) selections this is extremely distracting. It really complicates the selection process. Is there an option coming sometime in the future to have this tool work more like the Lasso tool in PS and loose the marching ants until the selection is complete? So far other than this, I'm really liking your program.
  8. I'd like to request the straight-line function of the lasso tool (a selection tool) in affinity photo beta to be reworked a bit. Either as a separate tool, or with the shift button switching between straight and curved, without having to hold it down all the time to maintain the straight selection function? I found it quite impossible to make straight selections with my macpro touchpad while trying to press shift at the same time, and still use the spacebar to pan around the image. Plus that and I am a one-handed user, it's.. sort of an accessibility issue. :o Gimp has a good way of handing straight VS click-n'-drag behaviors with the lasso tool, by adding a vector point indicator (a circle indicating the beginning of the straight line activity and only completing the straight line when a new click occurs) and following the mouse with a line each time the cursor is lifted (mouse moved without click input). Thank you for sharing Affinity Photo as a live beta tool. We're very happy with our purchase of Affinity Designer!
