  1. With every adjustment (curves, gradient, HSL, ...) the "save preset" function does not work. New presets are not saved. That means they do not appear in the adjustment preset library. Also, presets from Photo V1 are not imported (brushes, etc. are imported instead). They are just missing and new ones can't be saved. There's also a second thread which is about the curve adjustment presets with a video – in my case it's not working on any adjustment: I'm using the latest version of Photo 2 under Mac OS Monterey 12.7 on a M1 Max chip.

  3. So I have a project I just finished that was a live document. I kid you not, as I’m clicking to go hit save or export or something to make a hard copy… the program glitches, crashes. I go back in to reopen the file, but it instead duplicated 3 project folders somehow… there is a thumbnail of the file inside but no live document to open (it says 0) so I can’t save it from the dashboard. I assumed there would be some temp folder for the cached files I could scrounge for and reopen the last instance, but I can’t find one and don’t see any mention of one. Is it hidden in system folders? I am so frustrated. In other programs, this would be the natural troubleshooting but not here… is there some way to restore a file from cache or did I just lose a lot of work because the file corrupted/disappeared? I have my files stored in the iPad, not syncing to a cloud. edit; I can rename the folder, which renames all 3. I tried updating, restarting the app and iPad.
  4. Something I have been wondering for a while is why my file size changes so much between consecutive versions of the same document (book)? I have been continuously adding images, text & pages and notice that my file dropped from 25 MB to 18 MB just now, despite filling a text column and adding image. I don't have save history enabled, so it's kinda weird to me. Whenever the file gets smaller, it also performs quite a bit better. The difference is definitely noticeable — the document goes from lagging when typing to fluent.
  5. Hi, I'm new to this forum and joined mainly to try to get an answer to this issue. I'm also relatively new to Affinity Photo. I'm just learning ho two use it. I'm working on creating a jigsaw view of a photo and for some reason its taking 20 to 30 mins to save. The size of the file is 700Mb. Any support welcome regards Derek
  6. JXR is the only format people can open as an HDR image without jumping through a bunch of hoops. JXL does not allow that, let us save with JXR please. JXR is the most common mainstream HDR format thanks to Xbox. I dunno why HDR formats are so damned fragmented. Please just let us save JXR I was so incredibly disappointed today when I found out I couldn't... There's literally NO WAY to make a JXR file outside of a F**king video game screenshot. I searched, there is nothing... Why... If you guys added the option to save JXR you would be across the entire internet THE ONLY OPTION FOR DOING THIS. Adobe is dragging their feet.
  7. Hi, Aplogies if this is more sraightforward than I am making it, I just want to use the best method going forwards. I am using Affinity Publisher to create invoices and I have a template that I use and update with each new invoice before exporting a new PDF file. As I would like to save a version of each invoice pre-export, so that I can revisit and edit if needed, I just wanted to ask what the best way to save each versions of these files would be. I know that I could just save a new .af file with each invoice, but just wanted to see if there is a better way, or one that keeps all versions within one file. I have entertained the following options; different sections/pages within Publisher, renaming layers to match each invoice, artboards for each invoice, snapshots. Which way would be best? Is there a way to archive pages and/or have section names clearly displayed in the pages panel in Publisher. Thank you for any advice. Jack
  8. I have some questions as I adjust to a new software and GUI. I am a product photographer so align layers is useful to me-does this need to be done manually here? How do I rename layers? I can't figure it out. Clone stamp tells me to tap, but that isn't making a selection. I press and hold using my iPad pencil, and..nothing? How do I save my photo? I like to save. A lot. I tried googling before asking here, but couldn't find anything.
  9. Unfortunately, we're aware of an issue affecting users on macOS Ventura when trying to save to an external drive such as a flash drive that has a FAT partition. You will be able to initially save to the flash drive as expected but any subsequent saves to the same file will give the error: "Failed to save document. Save failed because access to the file was lost. The document must now be closed." This issue is logged with our developers for further investigation but saving locally and to a non FAT partitions is unaffected.

  11. I only save manually, always, in all programs. I am using it deliberately, as a feature, i.e., by default, when I close an app, if it asks me to save I always hit No, because I know that I did some changes that were just some experiments that I don't want saved. Whenever I do "production" changes I am happy with, I hit Save at once. The following workflow would work in Affinity if not for this: Affinity asks me to save changes when no changes have been made. I open document -> go to export -> hit export -> close document -> and I get a "do you wan to save changes?". This is bugging me like there's no tomorrow. I did absolutely no changes. I do exports very very often, and I close documents very very often. Please, add a setting where I can disable this dialog. It ruins my creative workflow. P.S. Even though oftentimes I don't even change anything in export window, I still view everything I do in export window as *no changes to the document*, thus, I do not expect the popup to appear. On top of everything, it is very misleading, especially when you don't close the document at once but after a while, and suddenly you get this Save Dialog, but at the back of your head you don't recall making any changes, and you start wondering "have I done anything I should save, or should not save?".
  12. title says everything As I cannot save the document, I can't provide the .afpub file, although I can provide a pdf export of it! This document is heavy in text zones, images, groups of layers and shapes, to the point where trying to change a text zone alignment or content freezes publisher for a few seconds. (i7-6700k, 16GB RAM limit, 3.5 GB currently used by publisher, 970GTX for rendering, publisher and file are on my SSD) presentation_de_stage.pdf

Hi all, I am loving this software and kicking myself for wasting so much time and money with Photoshop; however, I need to print something at someone else's house - so I need to email them the files I have created - and for the first one I did I was able to create a .jpg and email just fine - but now, for the life of me, I can't remember how I did it. I know this sounds so stupid - but I have a lot of medical problems hence the memory issue. Can anyone walk we through were to find the steps or provide them to me? Thank you kindly, Katie
  14. I can't save a project that I am working on. I started the project in 1.9 but after downloading 1.10 and continuing to work on the project I can no longer save (or save as)
  15. Until this morning Affinity Photo has worked just fine for over a year,however today, it crashes whenever I try to save a file. It seems to be so corrupted I can no longer work with it. It is also running more slowly than normal. I am running it on a Mac Pro OS 10.7.5 as I am unable to upgrade to more recent OS systems due to the age of my computer which is no longer supported by Apple. I have already run Disc Repair, the disc is OK and I also repaired the permissions but to no avail. It still crashes. I think the problem might be solved if I trash a preferences file but there are four of them. Question….Can I trash them all or is there one in particular I should trash ? I don't want to make the situation worse by trashing a wrong one. Or as a secondary solution…..should I just do a reinstall which means having to go through the App Store again and that is always a pain ? Any advise would be appreciated. Thanks Limey
  16. Thie mornig I opened my Suite to continue a job due monday morning. After a couple of minutes editing in Publisher, on "save" the app turns off, leaving (fortunately) the file unaltered. I tried several times, with and without admin privileges, But no way. Every time I try to save, the App crashes fatally. I changed to my backup machine, with a previous version installed. Same drama. So it must be the file. Special page format? This happens to be a pesky failure under production conditions, probably will be busting my deadline. (still got 16 hours to get this done.) Any ideas?   17. I organise most of my documents into projects in Designer. When I save documents they go into the default save location, whether they are in a project or not they all go into the same folder. I should like to request that when a document is saved: If it is not part of a project then it defaults to the default save location If is part of a project and a folder with the same name as the project exists then it is saved to that folder If it is part of a project and there is no folder with the same name as the project then Designer creates the folder and saves the file to it I should also like to request that a save option be added at the Project Level that will save any documents newer than the existing saved version. This would be helpful where different projects may have documents with the same name, it will also lead to tidier folders and easier archiving of old projects. Thanks Stephen

Hi, I had a very unpleasant problem: I draw parts of the face that will be automatically painted using code, but for this I need to save the files in svg and open in adobe illustrator, but the order of the layers changes completely, some become a group, new ones appear ... I need a layer called "color" to be colored, but for some reason it becomes a group. An example in the picture: I need the eyeball to be separate, as in the screenshot in affinity designer, the layer order and grouping are ideal, but everything changes when exporting and opening in the illustrator. I tried changing the settings, grouping, language, names, converting zhlipsy to curves, etc. but it does not work. I really hope that this is just my mistake and that you can fix it thank you in advance!
  20. Dear Affinity people, I've encountred a strange behaviour when saving files. I've always thought that the program will offer as a saving location the folder the original file was placed in. But when I open a picture in Affinity Photo, for example, make some adjustments and try to save it or export - it will show totally different location, without much sense. If I save it in some random location, the next time I open another file from a different folder, it will not even offer the last used location for saving - this would still be strange and make some sense but even this doesn't happen. So how exactly does the saving work? Why it doesn't offer the original location first? Thanks. David
  21. Hi there, could someone help me out with this issue about Affinity software? Recently I updated both Affinity Designer and Affinity Photo to v.1.7. After the update, when I try to save, it returns me an error message, which you can clearly see in the image I attached. I have my Desktop connected to OneDrive, uploading anything I save on it automatically. I tried to save the file in the "Download" folder, which is not connected to OneDrive, but it gives me the same error. I love software by Affinity, that's why I bought them, but this way I really can't work with them. Ps. Exporting files in other formats (.psd, svg, ecc...) works fine.

  23. Hi. All I'm trying to do is save a rectangular selection (made with marquee too) to a file. However when I follow the instructions, repeated below in blue, the only file type that available is "afselection". I don't know what that is, but all I want is to save it as a JPG or PNG file. Please advise. Thanks. To save a selection to a file: With a pixel selection in place, from the Select menu, select Save Selection. Adjust the dialog settings as required. Click Save.
  24. I'm not sure if this should be bug or should be filed somewhere else. I go to save the file and get an error message about the file could not be saved, shutting down. I go to open it again and now the file is damaged. This happens randomly but enough that I keep multiple files because it happens often enough to cause fits.
