  1. AD crashed on me. It saved a recovery file which I used. I saved the recovery file as something else. I cannot use the Save function now and have to use Save As.... The file is now Read Only. Any ideas?
  2. I'm using the new Affinity Photo for iPad. Very cool! How do I save a selection I've made for use in another project?
  3. Not sure it's a feature, more of an improvement, but it has cause some troubles to me. In all applications that I'm aware of, the Save As function will save in the folder where the file is currently located in. A.D. does not, it saves in the last folder that was used, always. Even if I close a file and open a totally different one, SaveAs will default to the last saved folder. I have files spread all over the disk because of that :( It's annoying especially because the standard behaviour is so universally ingrained I find it hard to remember to change the save location every time. Keep up the good work
  4. Is there a way to export all artboards as pngs...without having to save each one at a time?
  5. I'm unable to save files in anything other than the .aff default, even using the export tab while using the trial version
  6. I'm trying to find a quick and efficient way to save modified .jpg photos by overwriting the original file. I understand that the save command does that but the file size increases to 3-4 times the original size every time I do that. I haven't got 'save with history' turned on so why this unreasonable increase in file size? Is there a way to overwrite the original file by pressing a single shortcut without ending up with an unreasonably large file?
  7. Hi, I am using AP to crop dozens of screenshots and wanted to automate that. I created several macros (due to different resolutions of the screenshots), but in no macro can I add the FILE > SAVE (or CMD+S) command. Even CMD+W after the cropping does not work, as when I click SAVE in the close dialog, AP says it will not save that stuff. The Macro Recorder says "Cannot record "Export document". Is that correct behaviour? If so, is it possible to add the SAVE command to macros in a future version of AP? Thanks and happy May the 1st.
  8. Is it possible to save an interface layout, with customized toolbar and palettes layout?
  9. It would be nice if Affinity Designer could save as an adobe illustrator file. This would overcome the big advantage Adobe has over Affinity, usability. Most people (sad but true) still use Adobe. If Affinity could save as AI, like it can PHD...it would be a big help.

  11. Hello everyone! Does anybody know when exactly continous export (which can be accessed in the Export Persona) writes data? Does it save each time I change the document (and an entry gets created in the History)? Does it overwrite each time the application loses focus? As I am using an SSD, I don't really want to overwrite a file each time I am doing some small changes, resulting in hundreds or thousands of writing processes in a short period of time. If it depends on the OS: I'm using a Mac running OSX 11.6. Best wishes and thanks for any help! Shu
  12. I'm not sure if there is anybody who asked this before, but i just wanna know why we can't save as or export to .ai or .cdr or maybe other extension instead of affinity file? Is it because of something like copyright (?) limitation or will it be a new feature in the future? Thanks
  13. I'm a complete novice with Affinity Photo, but I've not been able to see an obvious answer to my question, which is this. I've opened 6 or so .jpg files and edited them. They are listed as tabs above the working window. I now want to save them all as .afphoto files (a sort of "Save All As" action). This is a batch job, and I have looked at the use of the New Batch Job command. However, when I use this, and look at the Sources/Add window, this opens to a folder on disk, which does contain the photos I already have open and have edited, but also some others. How do I save all the files I currently have up on screen and which I've edited, as a single action rather than saving them one by one? In effect, how can I batch my edited files from the screen, into a batch process and then to disk, without looking at folders on disk.
  14. I want to use Affinity Designer to create interface mock-ups for my projects. I often work on projects by using a version control system, like Git, SVN etc. I want to include also my AD files in these repositories, so I can have all my work on a single place. The problem is that these VCS works well when they handle text files, like source files and so on. Even my graphic files are saved as SVG or EPS, when possible. This allows me to maintain the repository as fast and small as possible. They usually don't handle well binary files, and if I modify them often, the repositories can became really big (that's how they works, storing only differences between files, and calculate differences for binary files is cumbersome). Instead if AD can save its files in a text format (xml, for example), they can be stored in VCS far more efficently, improving productivity (at the moment we store binary files in a separate server for this reason). Obviously it's not possible to textify everything (like bitmap images imported in a AD file) but it's possible to handle them by creating fields with blobs, it's not worse in this case, but if I change other things maintaining fixed the bitmaps, the difference will be very small also in this case. Is it possible to have the text format for AD project?
  15. When exporting JPEG files, the default preset is always "JPEG(High quality)". Does anyone know how to change the default present for saving JPEG? It would be great if I could change the default one to the preset I created. Thank you very much. Regards, Sleepy
  16. Hey, i am experiencing a bug while i moving multiple objects after the save. F.E. i select 10 objects in my design, then move them any direction using SHIFT+arrow and then save it CTRL+S. After the saving process that objects randomly move around the artboard. Sometimes dismiss only after changing position or make themselves hidden under any other layer...bad bad objects :) Pls, try to inspect that problem. I ve uploaded the .afdesign for you. Try to select all that 8 boxes with product sample images. I bought a licence and using 1.5.0.36 (no beta) Sincerely Tomas spkolo_redesign2016 - kopie (2).afdesign
  17. Hi, Why is it that if you select Save, or close the image you are currently working on, it throws up the same dialog as Save as with .afphoto as the default? Would like the Save option to save the image in its original format of say TIF or JPG without requiring a confirmation dialog.
  18. If I load a JPEG or PNG image and choose 'Save' or 'Save As...' from the File menu, the image is saved (as expected) as a *.afphoto file. I would also expect it to be added to the 'Open Recent' list, but it isn't.
  19. Hi, I tried to save the file I was working on and received the above message followed by a message saying the file must be closed. Fortunately, upon reopening the file there was a recent recovery version that had most of my changes so it's not much of a problem. However, it seems like a strange way to handle this. I suspect it was caused by the file being on a network share, which may have been temporarily unresponsive. The usual behaviour I'd expect would be to revert to "Save As" and save the work to another location, or at least to leave the file open and marked as "Modified" to allow another attempt to save it. Thanks Jeremy
  20. New to Affinity Photo, and so far, what I've seen looks good, then it all comes to an abrupt halt. Trying to do my forum avatar pic, I decide to use my new Serif software to resize my picture. All going good, until I come to "Save As", so that I can save my image as a JPEG. Even this forum doesn't recognise AFphoto files! Serif - the product is good, but why do I not have the option to save my processed file to what I want? For this example, JPEG would be enough. In the future however, it would nice to be able to convert my images to other file formats - such as DNG etc. How after processing my images - or friends images, as I do sometimes - how do I send them back their image - so that they can open it on their systems? :(
  21. After opening a saved file and making extensive changes, I chose 'Save As...' so that I could keep both the original document and the modified version. I expected to be offered the original folder by default, but instead I was offered a downloads folder from where I had previously loaded a .afbrushes file.
  22. I took about 300 pictures in Europe (all JPG). I have them separated into different folders (such as Budapest, Hungary, etc). Im using Affinity for the first time, but I'm finding out when you save, it only saves as a afphoto. I would like to save as JPG, so friends can view it on Facebook, or if I share, they can just open it. How can I save a Photo that I worked on in Affinity as a JPG to a specific folder?
  23. I have what should be a fairly simple request. I would like the ability, when exporting a Tiff file, to be able to save it with the extension .TIF rather than .TIFF (i.e. the ability to use either). Currently when you try to change the extension, it will give you a warning and append a .TIFF extension on anyway. Why is this important? It's important for integration with some third party software, particularly Capture One. When using Capture One's "Edit With" functionality, Capture One uses the .TIF extension. When trying to save the edited file back out of Affinity Photo, you can only save as .TIFF so you can't save back over the edited file, meaning you then have to go to the finder and delete the .TIF version and rename the .TIFF version manually. This can also cause some problems in Capture One, because it get's confused. this could be avoided by being able to just save with the extension .TIF This currently works for Jpeg files, as you're allowed use either .JPG or .JPEG, so I'm suggesting that this be extended to work with Tiff files also One other related feature that I would love see too is the ability to change formats when saving, in the same way photoshop can, so that for example, you can save as a Tiff rather than having to go through the export process. Obviously you could get warnings telling you that you will loose some compatibility. This would also aid when using Affinity Photo with other software such as Capture One or Lightroom. Being able to save in the format that the document is currently in (with appropriate warnings) without having to go through the export process would be a real timesaver. Thanks, and I'm a big fan of this excellent software!
  24. I imported embedded .afdesign file, then I delete the original file but still left the embedded file to my work. Are there any ways to Save or Export it to .afdesign again?
  25. With photoshop I choose in Aperture Edit with…, work on my photo and save the picture ( ⌘S), the changes appearing Aperture. With Affinity Photo saving the picture don't work well. The Save function ask every time for a location to save the picture and won't save the open picture to his original place (e.g. in Aperture Library). It makes the work between Aperture and Photo not really practicable. am I making something wrong?
