How can I save the XMP file from a raw edit? or the option to automatically save xmp settings as in Camera Raw

Hello, I am new to Affinity Photo. I am trying to save a .afphoto document in .PSD format. It does successfully export the file but for some reason only the background layer gets deleted. When I open the .PSD file again in Affinity Photo the background layer is not visible. Can someone help me with this? Also, I've made the switch to Affinity Photo recently and I've been loving it. Thank you. -
Hello everyone, I have become big fan of AP and I think this is a perfect software for photographers on budget with great features and flexibility. I only recently started using AP (actually only recently started photography altogether). My workflow is probably not the best but it is what I have settled on. I do raw processing on a different software and then use AP on the exported tif file. I was really excited about the linked file feature mainly due to the potential of decreasing the file sizes of afphoto . I tried with a tif file and few simple curves and still the file size was 215 MB or so. Just to test, I deleted every image layer and just left the curve layers and the file size actually increased. I removed even the curve layers and saved a empty file which ended up being roughly 200 MB. I am not sure what is being saved when there is no layer to save such that the file size ended up this large. Am I missing nay settings (Save history is not enabled). Thank you for your help. -
Hello, I have question regarding Saving for afphoto files used in Affinity Photo Workbook. I have dowloaded some source files. If I made some changes, I want to save it, but the posssibility "Save" or "Save as" are grey. Is it the source somehow locked (for example the lumsdale_falls.afphoto). BR Vit Richter -
I’m working in the iPad version. IOS 14.0.1 Designer v1.8.6.1 I’m finding that saving a file from within the design doesn’t always work. I have to jump out of the design to the gallery view and SAVE there. Very annoying and distressing to find that SAVE is unreliable.

I get that I have to save my edited photos back to camera roll by export-share-save image, but somewhere along the line I’ve lost exif data, most importantly date and time taken. This means when I save to my cloud storage it’s out of date order with my other images. Surely there’s a solution for this but I can’t find one despite the searching. If I could save directly from affinity to amazon photos it might not happen but there’s no way to do that either afaik.

I'm new to Infinity although I used to use Serif Page Plus from the very first version years ago. Great to find a suite of one-time purchase design and editing programs - I've bought all three - that I can use on my new MacBook Pro. Although searching through Help and the forum, I am having trouble finding out how to SAVE a Batch Process set of instructions. Do I really have to set it up from scratch each time I want to run it? Also I can't seem to reduce the size of a mix of landscape and portrait photos without one dimension being squashed - I do have the A for Aspect ticked and have tried putting the same number in each of the W and H windows. I have also tried W/2 and H/2 as suggested in the boxes which didn't work for me and also 50%. Please can you tell me what I'm missing or doing wrong?

I have a deadline tonight but Publisher keeps crashing. Always when I try to save but also occasionally (on auto save?) not sure. file previously worked and saving / modifying worked fine

I can't get Designer to save my files in any folder containing my work. Every time I click on SAVE AS, name the file, and select a location, I get the warning: "Save failed because you do not have permission to create a file in that location." We're even talking about my Documents folder. Why would I not have permission to save files in my Documents folder? Just to reassure myself, I did a Get-Info on the Document folder and, for sure, I have the permission to Read and Write to that location. Also, I can't open a .jpg created by Photo because Designer doesn't recognize the file type. Again, this is the same .jpg that caused Photo to freeze after creating and saving it. Can someone tell my what may be happening here? With freezes and failures to save and open files, I haven't been able to work for days. -
Hi, How do I save my work in affinity Publisher demo. I already bought the software but haven't installed yet (via Mac App Store). Yesterday the Programm closed itself and everything was gone. I had to redo everything. I got to hand it in today. Please help me out. Greetings! -
When saving a file, Affinity Photo is creating a separate file each time I press cmd S, almost like saving as. I noticed this when I navigated to the folder I had saved my file to and found lots of copies of the file. I am saving to iCloud Drive. As I'm a newbie I thought this might be a versioning feature but I have since found that it shouldn't be happening. Tom

I've been using the Affinity suite for over a year now and never encountered an issue. However a few days ago I went to save a piece of work and it just ...wouldn't? No error appears and it doesn't crash. It just doesn't save the document. I've tried multiple pieces and even black canvases. When you click "save as" or control S then the little loading wheel comes up for a second then disappears and lets you continue but without saving. I'm not using a template and I'm not trying to save complicated documents for this. Does anyone know what's happening?

It would be very useful to be able to save also the different sources used in the Focus Merge function, to be able to make the often necessary corrections (halos, alignment errors, ..) in multiple work sessions because it may not be possible to complete the work at the same time. -
This may not be a bug, per se, but it seems very odd to have seen the warning message (attached). AFPUB 1.8.3; Mac OS X 10.15.3 I was editing and saving a document as I went. I had also saved sequential versions as I edited (to see if any problems arose). I keyed Command + S to "save" the file, did some more edits and keyed Command + S again and got this warning message. I should not have gotten that type of message as there is no other instance of AFPUB or any other process (including Design and Photo) that would access the document in question. That is to say there could be no reason (except bugs IMHO) that the message should have popped up. I did perform a "save as" as the message suggested.

Quick Background: I have Affinity Photo for both iPad and Mac and use is since 2017 (on and off as hobby). My main use is on the iPad and since 2019 i've started making big files (10.000px vs 7.000px) and many layers, some files are 1GB. I've had many crashing issues in the last 4 months (with older Affinifity Photo versions, then i got tired and stopped using it) where i lost my lastest editing since it wasn't automatically saving the file on the iCloud Drive (had set it to 'Save on iCloud' and even sometimes i clicked 'save' it didn't save the file on iCloud, because after crashing i saw i lost 30min, 1h work. I've resolved it idiotically by doing 'Save a Copy' into iCloud by every major editing i did (and this with 500, 700MB files isn't ideal). So I've just deleted Affinity Photo from my Mac and iPad, also manually deleted the 'Affinity Photo' from both iCloud Drive & iPad Drive folders and also deleted the Backup Folder. Now i'm ready to start afresh and would love to hear how you deal with files and folders... specially people dealing with big files on the iPad: Where do you save your files: iPad or iCloud Drive directly? Do you use the 'Affinity Photo' folder or some external iCloud/iPad Folder? If I open a file from iCloud, anytime i click Save, will it save it over this file? or into the 'Affinity Photo' folder in the iPad or iCloud? i know it creates these folders once i've installed Affinity. How many projects/files do you have on your iPad? Once you finish an artwork, do you save it on iCloud/iPad/USB and then 'close' the file to cleanup Affinity? I've had 30+ projects open, so not sure if this was also helping to crash Affinity. thanks -
I've got not that big of a file (16 megapixels, 8-bit and a couple of raster layers) that after saving shockingly took 700 mb of my disk space. I copied all of it's contents in a fresh document with the same dimensions, saved it again and BAM! - 100mb. What causes this colossal difference in file size when the content is 100% the same? I've noticed this is a persistent problem with Affinity Photo. When I finish with a project, I always have to transfer all the contents in a new document before saving otherwise I'd have clogged up my disk by now. Any way to avoid this or is this a bug? -
When I try to close an image hitting Ctrl+W and "close document" pops up, keyboard does NOT work - I have to point my selections with mice. Very annoying, please fix it, thanks.

I bought Affinity, but I have a suggestion: Make it available on Persona Reveal Reveal (Develop) the possibility of saving the adjustments we made to the photos, as in Photoshop's CameraRaw (save file XMP). So, every time I open the same photo, I can review or modify the settings instead of having to start the adjustments from scratch as it is today. Here is the suggestion! Hugs, -

Hello, I have tried numerous times to open a photo in Apple Photos, and then send it to Affinity Photo for editing. I can send it via contextual menu or by opening Edit in Photos and then using the " ... " for extension activation. After editing in Affinity Photo I close the editing photo and attempt to Save Changes in the Apple Photos edit extension window. The edits do not save and I get an error message. I remember this use to work. Am I doing something wrong now? I am attaching a low bit-rate video (lens correction, straightening, and cropping) showing the process and result. Dear Affinity Support, I've recently acquired Affinity Publisher on the Apple App Store and I am running OSX Catalina, yesterday on a deadline for applying for a job, my portfolio work was lost, since the Affinity Publisher crashed on save. Once reopened I got the recovered file but still wasn't able to save or save as. On the Force Quit window the OS Finder displayed the same app icon as Affinity as illustrated in the attached image. Therefore I restarted my computer, deleted Affinity Publisher and reinstalled. After trying to save any version of the document, even previous backups of smaller files it still wasn't able to save. Therefore I am requesting your support ASAP as my deadline ends today. Best Regards, AP

I am having consistent problems with affinity designer crashing. it crashes when i load and save files. I have attached a screenshot of the error messages. I am saving and loading from internal hard drive. My files have a combination of jpeg and vectors. Please help me understand how to fix this problem. THANKS!

Hi How can we Save and then reload a "Batch Job" ? I have a couple of different Batch Jobs that I have to do on a regular basis. It would be far easier to save the setup, than having to check all the correct boxes again. Cheers
