  1. Hello, I found that certain combinations of stroke's cap, join & align resulting in flattened stroke if exported to SVG. Oddly, it's only happened in closed shape (stroke that its start meets with its end). I exported to SVG using AD and opened the SVG using AI. OS: Windows 10 Home Affinity Designer: 1.8.5.70 Adobe Illustrator: 2021 (25.0 for 64 bit) I have made the list of the combinations that you can try for yourself to reproduce the issue. Step to reproduce the issue: - Open the file I provided and export it to SVG (for export) Flattened Stroke Test.
  2. Hello! It seems like even after switching on "Copy items as SVG" in preferences, I can't copy vector items (for example, the icons that I create in affinity designer) as SVG into UI & Prototyping apps like invision, figma or similar apps. What is the reason for this? Is there a way to fix it? Has anyone faced similar issues? If anyone knows to fix it, please let me know. I use affinity on windows 10 laptop. (Believe hardware wouldn't matter, so not mentioning them) Have a great day!
  3. Export of EPS files is not exporting with layers as organized and named on iPad and SVG export exports layers correctly but thickens strokes
  4. Hi. We work with SVG files, and I'd prefer not to know that the .afdesign file format even exists for a variety of reasons. For example, to save an edited SVG file, here are the steps I've found: Click on File. Click on Export. Click on Export again. Click on Save. Click on Yes to overwrite. Attempt to close the file. Click on No to avoid saving the afdesign format. Here are the keystrokes: Alt-F, E, Enter, Enter, Enter, Ctrl-W, N I'd typically expect: Ctrl-S, Ctrl-W Since these SVG files may be edited and deployed by other users using a variety of design tools,
  5. I sliced a vector to 23 equal pieces: When I export slices as png, it exports like this (which is I want) Slice9: When I export them as SVG, it exports like this Slice9: slice9.svg The svg file's size as same as the original one. I am using default "SVG digital- high quality" export setting. The only solution I found is to open svg files one by one and cropping them using vector crop tool. However there are 23 of them and I may need to change the original file and do all the steps again. (it is my 5th time in a month) Is there anything I can do? An export setting or so
  6. Affinity Designer 1.8.3 See the attached SVG file. If i open it with other apps, e.g., Google Chrome, Inkscape, LightBurn, it opens correctly. See the attached screen captures from each of those apps and note the the path I indicate. When opened in Affinity Designer, the path indicated is incorrectly positioned as shown in the screen capture from it. I did a "select all" to highlight all of the elements of the drawing. Should be easily reproducible. GiftBox.svg
  7. Hi there! I created a grahpic with curves in Affinity Designer and want to export the graphic as a svg-file. The svg file should look like usual, for example with path tags and should be able to select with css. <path d="....> But what I always get is a svg file like that, with a whole bunch of characters after it. <defs><image id="_Image1" width="800px" height="200px" xlink:href="data:image/png;base64, ...... I do not know what I'm doing wrong. Could you please help me out? Aim is to export a "normal" svg file without png type or something. I am ex
  8. Hi, I'm placing an SVG file in Designer and try to convert to curves, but the menu item is disabled. This works perfectly with the same file in PagePlus X9. what am I doing wrong? Greetings, Sigurd
  9. It would be great if we could import multiple (svg/eps/pdf/ai/png/jpg/gif/etc) files into the assets panel.
  10. Thanks! I have no idea what was changed, but the SVG's into PowerPoint crashed when you ungrouped/converted them. Now, it's working perfectly. This is really helpful team, I know we all cringe at PowerPoint but clients use it a lot and this little fix makes my work so much better (so much that I wanted to thank the Affinity team for fixing what ever MS was not getting right). I mean, PowerPoint has no meaningful drawing ability, so a custom shape in Designer can really make a huge difference in quality.
  11. When exporting svg files for web all the styles are inline per element, which unnecessarily increases file size and customization difficulty. In general it would be very useful to define style rules as an independent dataset. While working with the document changing a property of a style rule (class) would affect all elements assigned the respective class. Additionally, it would be extremely useful to add custom attributes to elements: data-custom-attr="whatever I want here" for web usage. Without these features supported, every modification to the svg file within Designer requires a lot of ti
  12. I was wondering if there's a way to do an SVG export but exclude any images from the export. I basically want an SVG that I can work with which has all of the outline information separately, and save the graphics portion of the drawing as a separate bitmap. I thought that selecting the "Nothing" option for the Rasterize menu option under the export menu might work, but it did not. I did some additional debug, and I found that by changing the zoom level of the bitmap patterns that I'm using, I can make the tool either include the image in the SVG export or exclude the image when th
  13. Hi everyone, I'm just confused about exporting my file. I want to export my file as an SVG for others to edit but why when an SVG file is opened it becomes uneditable because it is an image. Whereas before it was in the form of a curve, can anyone help me?
  14. I created an image in a business graphics package (OmniGraffle) and exported the image as an SVG. When I open the SVG in Affinity Designer (1.8.4; macOS 10.15.6) I find that the image loses some of its detail. In particular, Affinity Designer appears to lose all of the radial gradients in the image, and loses the "arrow heads" on the lines. I have attached the SVG document for your reference. If it's any consolation, this SVG does not render correctly in Adobe Illustrator (24.2.3), Vectornator (3.3.13 (460)), or Amadine (1.0.9 (85)), with differing failures. But it does ren
  15. Hello, I have this issue. Not properly visualized gradient Affinity (Publisher; Designer) Google Chrome visualization.svg
  16. Windows 10 Home 1903, Photo 1.7.1.404 and Designer 1.7.1.404. As part of an experiment I (fairly randomly) found an SVG https://pixabay.com/vectors/car-black-vehicle-transport-travel-311713/ that I wanted to use but upon opening it in Photo and Designer (haven’t bothered trying Publisher) I see that it hasn’t been imported correctly. A lot of the detail is missing and there are bigger issues – see attached snapshots from Designer and Photo. It’s not a big problem for me as I can use the raster version instead but I thought I’d mention it so someone can look into it (there’s a chance tha
  17. I have create a visualization in Affinity Designer (actually created a new document from clipboard of a PowerPoint drawing. In Affinity everything looks fine. But if I export it to SVG and open in in Chrome or open the SVG file in Affinity Designer again, it looks like the following. Morseschlüssel.afdesign Morseschlüssel.svg
  18. The bmc-remedy-1.svg file crashes Designer. I tried using svgcleaner to remediate and created bcc-remedy-2.svg but it likewise crashes Designer... Any idea why Designer crashes? bmc-remedy-1.svg bmc-remedy-2.svg Inserting this at the start doesn't help... <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" standalone="no"?> <!DOCTYPE svg PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD SVG 1.1//EN" "http://www.w3.org/Graphics/SVG/1.1/DTD/svg11.dtd">
  19. Hi! I have several hundred (~500) different SVG files, all square icons with designs on them. I'd like to arrange them all in one big document, with an equal amount of space between them, so that I can print it as a poster. Other than doing it manually and copying/pasting each icon into the "master" document, is there any way I can somehow script it or just open all the SVG files at once and tell Designer "Combine and arrange these"? Also, is it even possible for me to add that many nodes to one document without crashing my computer? I have a MacBook Pro (16-inch, 2019) 2.3 GHz 8-Core Intel Co
  20. Hello, As a dataviz designer I often create the base of my works with SVGs on the web, so I can program the visual elements to be based on the data, then to import them into a vector tool for other adjustments. I've noticed that Affinity Designer doesn't import any SVG linearGradient / radialGradient nor patterns, which I do often use, so for now I can't rely solely on Affinity Designer sadly enough. (I copy the SVG element from the "Elements" section from the devTools in Chrome) I've attached a document that shows the import of the link below. All the inner curves that have a gradie
  21. Hi Using Gradients, or shadow effects dramatically increases the exported SVG file size. Do anyone have any tips/tricks for how to use gradients in a way that does not affect the file size? This is important for use on webdesign etc. By example, a file was 4kb, without gradient. Introducing 1 gradient and 1 shadow effect resulted in a 60kb SVG file. Anders
  22. Hi! I have a shape with several pieces that I want to cut out. I have followed the instructions I found here: https://graphicdesign.stackexchange.com/questions/119718/why-cant-subtract-complex-form-in-affinity-designer but it doesn't work. Somehow, I got it to work once with a different file but I'm not quite sure how, and now, I'm unable to reproduce that success with a new file. Is this a bug, or am I missing something? I want to cut out the red shape from the white background. When I cut it, it ends up looking like this, instead of the holes being cut out and showing the transparent backgro
  23. Hi, I had a very unpleasant problem: I draw parts of the face that will be automatically painted using code, but for this I need to save the files in svg and open in adobe illustrator, but the order of the layers changes completely, some become a group, new ones appear ... I need a layer called "color" to be colored, but for some reason it becomes a group. An example in the picture: I need the eyeball to be separate, as in the screenshot in affinity designer, the layer order and grouping are ideal, but everything changes when exporting and opening in the illustrator. I tried changing the set
  24. I need to make a file that could be open by Adobe Illustrator, which contains every single layer, including hidden ones. No matter what I choose between the different types of SVG, Affinity Designer flattens the image into a single layer and discards everything that’s hidden ! I have no idea what I’m doing wrong, I really need help
  25. Hi! Strange thing is happening when I open one of the svg files. AD shows completely different colors compared to Chrome/Mac preview. What am I doing wrong?.. Svg file: https://www.dropbox.com/s/alo2vtoxcqkk6sg/image_10_12.svg?dl=0 As it's rendered by Chrome Opened in AD:
