  1. I would very much like to see a Texture "Pane" Option in Affinity Designer (and Photo): In addition to being able to paint with texture brushes (in vector or pixel), or simply import a pixel layer with texture, I would love to be able to save and use an entire Texture "Pane" (as in window "pane") Option from a panel of options like the brush window offers. I would like to have the ABILITY TO MAKE A TEXTURE "PANE" TRANSPARENT (or translucent; either vector or pixel) IN ADDITION TO BLACK, WHITE, AND COLOR and be able to choose whether it will cut through all layers, or only a selection of layers. (I have searched and not found any method for doing this.) (I'm a newbie when it comes to the technical jargon, hopefully you get the idea. If anyone knows how to do this, I'd love your direction!) Thanks, H
  2. Hello everybody, With my first post in this forum I wanted to request a tutorial of how to sensibly create from a given (previously designed) instance of an entity, e.g. a ticket, a whole set of thos entities whereas they only differ in a single text property, like serial number or ticket code. Also given is the set/list of valid ticket codes. I hope this is not too much to ask Cheers
  3. I'd like to see a trim tool (select line(s), will delete line(s)_ up to another line). CorelDRAW has one that works really well. Here is a video showing the feature. thanks and great job so far.
  4. Hi all: I have found the pencil tool invaluable but there's always one little thing that it would be nice to have: Is it possible that the point at which the line is started could show as a visible coloured node? Whenever I get to what I think is the point where I started, I'm off target! It's not a huge problem but it would make the workflow faster if I didn't have to clean up too many nodes. I attach a poster I made where I used the PT for all those spiral patterns cut into the kerbstone at Newgrange. It could be that I'm just not using it properly and my apologies if that's the case. BTW I'm absolutely delighted at the way AD is working. Best wishes to all the team,, Kevin
  5. I see often pictures like this. As an interface designer I would love to click one button and see my different groups of layers exposed like this. Makes it easier for the workflow between developer and designer. Maybe this function can be adjusted to specific distance between layers, transparency and a main focus layer (no transparency). 6. I'm new to affinity designer and couldn't help noticing there is no scale tool. Yes, you can scale an objetc from its corners and all that but if I want a part of a shape to be scaled down I cant. So a simple shape like the one I'm attaching is much harder to achieve in affinity. The stroke wont round one of the edges and as there is no scale tool I can't select the 3 points of the shape to scale down and simulate a stroke with pressure.
  7. Very MUST HAVE feature, when you are selecting points, they appears in own bounding box, and you can manipulate it like an object — scale, rotate warp (add warp). Just like in 3dsmax. Open 3dsmax and just add many coolest features from there, your app will conquer universe. Just from Edit Poly tool. Add extruding edges — killer feature... Just a lot of basic tools and you will be a king... Also: copying along path, matrix, create object arrays etc.; make instances or copies of objects, make it separate type. Make linked or embedded objects. Would be great to have ability to join many edges to one vertex (but the last is like fantastic)))
  8. This is my list of feature requests so I can completely ditch illustrator. While I love Affinity Designer and bought it to support development, It doesn't fully replace Illustrator because of a few key features that are missing: Feature Request List: 1) Path offset 2) Shape builder 3) Snap to intersection between 2 paths (This has been fixed in the latest 1.5 beta) 4) Snap to self/copy. (i.e. when I drag and object it should snap to its previous position, or if I Alt drag a copy of an object it should snap to the original object). Existing Features That Are Buggy: 1) Expanding a stroke creates way too many verts Other Low Priority Features: 1) Use saved pressure curves across documents
  9. Interface request: Click&Hover mouse over visibility checkboxes area in Layers Panel could toggle or change while mouse moving. It could check initially if first click is toggling to hide or show the layer and copy this state to every hovered checkbox until mouse release. Of course you can select now with Ctrl or Shift layers and toggle visibility of chosen layres group... But I propose (imho) nice improvement of Layers Panel I tried to illustrate this in attachment. Cheers. Neosim
  10. Interface request: Click&Drag label of input changing the value. Moving UP or RIGHT ++ value, moving LEFT or DOWN -- value. Like in Attachment. Cheers. Neosim
  11. Hello All, I'm new to Affinity. Using the beta for Windows. I've already some feedback. I've seen the features request forum, but is there something like UserVoice? This way the team could see which features are the most important for users, without spamming topics with +1's. Affinity looks really good, nice work! Regards, Andreas F
  12. Hi, I’d like to use Affinity Designer for designing user interfaces, but, you know, it’s so tricky to design interfaces without this feature. Can someone help me? All the best, Vladislav
  13. I would like to request the support for arabic language. As it would be very useful to me and a lot of people who use the app. thank you.
  14. As Adobe has decided to make the import screen in Lightroom suitable for Instagram users, I have concerns wether Lightroom should be replaced in the future. Adobe makes this concerns even bigger by publishing buggy apps too early which ruin lives of professionals. Last year, Serif came out with this Affinity-suite and I have high hopes that they will release a Lightroom alternative. I am serious about that, since Capture One, well, does not work for me. But if you do, make sure that people can transfer 100k photos with any adjustments non-destructively. I don't know if you have plans for this, or if you have resources for this. But if you have, well, I would be the first to buy. Adobe is going for Instagram users with all their iOS-photoshop-mix-fix crap, which is not what professionals want. I know that one day, I will enjoy Affinity Designer on my iPad without compromises. And I hope you guys could rescue the professional photography business. I know this post has not the right spot in the forum, since everything is about Designer or Photo. But I just want to post this to see wether this could be the future of photography. Any name suggestions for a Lightroom alternative?
  15. 16-Bit would be so much better for printing. especially with gradients as a background. CMYK 16-Bit please. Thanks.
  16. Stuff I would really love to see in Affinity Publisher! Affinity Publisher Document export into HTML5 files. Mobile Templates: iPhone, iPad etcs Easy beautiful animations. Audio features. :)
  17. Just started using Designer, and Photo, this week. Made a quick wish list (feature request grid) sheet on google sheets, Thought I may as well share a public version for people to edit and add their own Wish Items (Feature Requests) to have all in one place. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1rilNYZcXRp338ycLsity5Uw4xOXexxfJ3_DKNgzl9WM/edit?usp=sharing

    HDR Tool

Hi, I would like a tool added to Affinity Photo that allows you to add three or more RAW photos taken at different exposures and merge them into a single HDR image.
  19. Hi, My feature request is for a refocus tool, so you can try to fix out of focus images, such as the ability programs such as Focus 2 Pro and Refocus 5 have.
  20. First of all, great product! Several of the things I'm wishing for are already on the roadmap, so I won't bother wasting your time repeating them here. So first of all, my gripes. After first buying this illustration software, I was literally dumbfounded at the lack of a dedicated LINE tool. I finally figured out how to use the pen tool to accomplish the task (awkward). I was then blown away by the complete lack of arrows for the ends of line segments (I mean, even the most basic drawing program nowadays has these things). Those are probably two of my biggest gripes. And as for the Arrow shape tool, control of the arrowheads at each end using the toolbar was really cumbersome until I figured out to use the control points (toolbar controls not very intuitive). Additionally, I don't particularly care for the Command-J shortcut for the Duplicate function, but I can live with it. Also, I would prefer to have the VIEW commands available from a pop-up menu somewhere within the workspace window. It's also rather awkward in my opinion not having access to a document window's title bar, as I routinely do things like duplicate the current file or revealing the file in the Finder, all from the title bar; I know I can accomplish the same tasks another way, but it's not normal. With your Callout tools (rounded rectangle and ellipse), I found it disappointing that it's so cumbersome to attach text to the callout (I mean that's the whole point of a callout isn't it?); whenever I would try to attach text to a callout using the Frame Text tool, the callout itself would disappear! And when I created dashed lines, the controls available for dashed lines didn't do what I expected (as far as dash spacing), and turned out to be very unintuitive. When creating text on a path, it's unclear to me how the software decides whether to place the text on the outside or inside of the path (it seemed rather random to me). Also, twice in a row, when attempting to use the Intersect tool with two simple overlapping shapes (an oval and an arrow shape), it would lock up the program (progress bar running indefinitely). And another thing… I discovered that once you fill a shape with a gradient, there's no obvious way to get rid of the gradient and go back to a simple color fill without going through the extra steps of filling both ends of the gradient with the same color. Those are my main complaints; now on to feature requests. While we're talking about gradients, I would like to see the ability to do compound gradients (more than two color points). I would also very much like to see text morphing capabilities in Designer (the lack of such capability is especially curious since it's available in Affinity Photo). Anyway, that's all for now. I'm sure I'll come up with more as I use the program more. Thanks for listening.
  21. The new corner tool is awesome. I tried it and played a little with it. Now what I found is, when you select a lot of corners and modify them with the corner tool it is sometimes hard to recognize the changes it makes, because the corner tool requires so much UI (circles and lines, etc). It would be great to simply move with the mouse outside the canvas and the UI would disappear and reappear once the mouse is inside the canvas again. That way, you could easily see even small changes made by the corner tool quickly without deselecting every corner you carefully selected. Sometimes the changes are covered by the UI (or corner-tool-quide-lines, if you will, those red lines, circles and dots). Also, the corner tool quickly becomes slow on my iMac mid 2011, 2.7GHz i5, HD 6770 HD, 20GB Ram. And finally, to celebrate the new corner tool, here are some great and funny shapes, one can do when mixing the live shapes with the corner tool:
  22. Hi, I would like some options to split the current layer in it’s components whether those are groups or individual objects. Thanks, Vlad
  23. Hi! I have some awesome actions and presets that I used to apply in photoshop is there a way to use it in AP too? (Your beta is awesome btw, thank you SO much)

    Styles panel changes

Having spent a good amount of time building a styles set yesterday I found 2 things that are desperately needed while working in the styles panel: 1) Rename should include the current name for editing so you don't have to type out the entire name again when you misspell green. (Not that I've ever done such a thing. *COUGH* ) 2) The ability to drag styles into a custom order and have it retained. As it is, I had to add the styles in the order I wanted as moving them around after the fact is not possible. (That I could figure out, anyway)
  25. Hi! Designer here. I'm doing mainly mobile application design, often huge projects with a lot of elements on every screen. AD is so incredibly performant that I'd love to switch from PS. To get this out of the way: Thanks for the great work. So much potential! Looking forward to the future of Affinity Designer. Now the three things that would make AD a lot better for my personal workflow, I mentioned them on Twitter and I got told to post them here. So here you go. 1) Show selected layer in layers panel My workflow is based on folders and layers and their position to each other. In Photoshop it's easy to jump to a specific layer in the layers panel by clicking with ALT+RMB on the desired layer. What this does is to expand every folder in the layers panel and jump to the right place where the selected layer is. Sketch solves this by allowing the user to decide if a folder is "click-through" or not. Some way to do this in AD would be amazing. I'd be perfectly happy with Photoshop's solution. Alt+RMB = Show layer in layer panel and I'm a happy chap. 2) Full pixel snapping I described it here. Even with snapping to pixels active, AD doesn't snap to full pixels but to 1.0 and 1.5. Only full pixels would make a lot of work a lot easier. 3) Bonus: Artboards I'm quite sure this has been mentioned in this forum a lot. Nevertheless, just throwing in my opinion: AD has such an impressive performance that it's the only program out there I have confidence in to do artboards right. Sketch's UI for artboards is great, their performance is mediocre. An AD artboard solution would rock my world. Thanks for consideration and sorry if I broke any kind of forum rule. First post! Marcel
