  1. I'm not having any success recovering a file after AP v2.3.1 crashed. I'm on a 2017 MacBook Pro, Ventura. I never saved the file, but I had it open for at least an hour. I usually save more often, but I was experimenting with some techniques, so I didn't save it at all this time. I started with a DNG RAW file, opened it in the Develop Persona (RAW Layer linked), then did a lot of work on it in the Photo Persona. I have my recovery time in Settings set to 300 seconds, but I couldn't find any record that autosave ever saved my unnamed file anywhere. I looked in ~/library/application support/affinity photo 2/autosave. Nothing is listed there from today.. When relaunching AP, it asked if I wanted to recover the file and I said Yes. It opened the original DNG RAW file in the Develop Persona, which was useless to me. Shouldn't autosave save a copy every 300 seconds, per my AP Settings (preferences)? Is there any way to recover this file? If so, where do I look and how? Thanks.
  2. Yesterday, I started doing production work in Affinity and I have already lost nearly all my work due to the software hard-crashing every hour or so (with hardware acceleration disabled). The recovery files seem to have been saved over an hour ago and are completely worthless whenever I need them. Please let me change the autosave settings to be at a five minute interval and let me decide the number of copies to save for the file so they cannot end up being corrupted or overwritten.
  3. Hello moderators, I was working on an Affinity Publisher project and all of a sudden the file is corrupted.. I deleted some texts in that file and wanted to save the altered file. But then there was a warning that the file couldn't be found and it is broken now... After restarting the computer, I can't open the file at all. It says it's corrupt all the time. I read in the forum that it might be possible for you to recover files - it would be amazing of you could try it. The file however is private - would you be able to provide a dropbox link where I can upload it privately? Thank you so much for your time. Best Kathy PS: I found these questions in a different post and wanted to give you the details: 1. Which Operating System are you using? Windows 10 2. Which version of Affinity did the file last get saved in? 1.10.4.1198 3. What drive type was the file last saved to (select more than one if needed)? Local disk 4. Any other information you think would help us try to find the problem? There sadly is no backup..
  4. Hey, a .afphoto file is corrupt, too. It`s the second time... Can anyone recover it, please? I`m using win10 and saved on an external hard disk. (Remember.. if anyone download it, you are not allowed to use it for any project or something else.)
  5. My Windows 10 computer reboots when using Affinity Publisher. Maybe 40-60 minutes into the session. It has never rebooted unexpectably before. I am only working with master pages and pages having text only. Found one post a few days ago that suggested to set the display to the one we use instead of Windows default, that has been done. Still reboots. Also, the first time this happened there was a recovery file saved so I could restore unsaved changes. Since that first time no recovery file has shown up. Is this a setting somewhere? Thank you.
  6. I was working on a painting in Photo for a few days as a birthday gift. I saved the project last night and this morning it asks if I want to load a recovery so I click "yes." Then it says that my file cannot open as it "appears it may be corrupt". Is there any way I can retrieve the painting? The birthday is today haha I do not need to do any work on it... just export it and print it. Any help is appreciated! Angela_Cosmic_Cocktail4.afphoto
  7. HEY there After working for several hours in AF Publisher and frequently saving the file as AF file .I just got a shocking pop message that the file is corrupted. Closed the application and restarted ,tried to open in Design as well same message. I am a new user to affinity ,can some one guide me how to recover the file.I have spent almost six hours working on this project If the file has to be forwarded, can you please point at the concerned technical staff. I am on Windows 10 and using the latest version of Affinity Publisher,Design,Photo,1.8.3 Thanks Murali
  8. Hi, Last week my hard drive failed on which my operating system was installed. I had my affinity softwares installed on secondary hard drive but as the OS hardrive failed so are the licences. Can you please help me on how can I recover the licences. I am using windows 10 and previously I was using the same OS. I bought the licences from affinity.
  9. Hi, 1 - I have been working on this Publisher file for two days and now I can't open it. It seems it is corrupted. I have also tried to open the document with the beta version, without any luck. Could you please have a look to the file and try to send back a recovery version? Thank you! 2 - I suggest it would be a great thing to get an auto-save folder with increments by default to avoid any problems like this (I have lost two days of work which I believe is a serious matter). Kind regards, Philippe. corrupted file.afpub
  10. I was working on a document in affinity designer (on mac) and I was trying to edit a photo so I clicked on edit in affinity photo, this wasn't what I wanted and for some reason I thought it has duplicated the file and opened it in affinity photo so I closed the affinity window and clicked don't save. when I went back to designer I was horrified to see that the document was gone. Is there any way of recovering this file either through affinity or caches or temps, anything??
  11. It seems like all the files I worked on and closed without saving generate a "recovery file" what AP desperately wants to open on restart ... this drives me nuts since I tend to save my work but experiment with documents further on ... so I'll close them without saving the last steps and AP keeps bothering me on restart with wantig to open "recovery files" from theses documents ... Am I doing something wrong? How do I turn this of? A recovery file ist nice when the program has crashed ... but not each time I close a document without saving it!
  12. Hello Forum, this is my first post so please be easy on me. I just witnessed, after 2 hours of painting, my program force closing. I didn't save my work (I simply forgot it, really stupid I know) and after reopening the program I recovered my file but it was just one layer in there and everything was like when I just started my project. I went into the preferences and checked the File Recovery Interval which was set to 5 mins. so I have to ask: Do you have to activate something else in turn to make the file recovery interval work? I also started a new project and set the interval to 30 sec. and drew a line on my picture and waited 30 seconds to see if the program would save on its own after the time had passed but nothing happened. I'm very upset that my work is now gone and so I want to know what I did wrong so this won't happen anymore. Maybe there's even a way to restore my original file that I simply dont know? Greetings, ElectroPug.
  13. I've recently upgraded to Mojave and made clean install of OS but I've forgotten to export Assets from AD. Is it possible to recover those lost assets from The Time Machine? If so, which files do I have to copy from TM Drive?
  14. Hi there, I've evaluating Affinity to work with the raw files from my Canon 70D. For a test I started from a very underexposed picture. With Affinity I followed the lineguides from this tutorial: https://vimeo.com/channels/affinityphoto/202715178 but the best I can get is a quite dull image. See the second attachment. On the other had I see that with a few settings in LightRoom, the software I'd like to leave, I'm albe to achieve better results. See the third image. I'm wondering: I'm missing any step, settings or configuration in order to improve my raw editing with Affinity? I've tried Apple raw engine and Serif but the results are similar. TIA.
  15. I did not save a recent affinity designer file. Where would I find the recovered version of the file? I had saved a png of the file, but I no longer have the original file, except for the recovered versions.
  16. In the past I (and others reported) had some corrupted files, especially I had for example a crash at program start because of a corrupted AppData-Affinity-Folder, that later turned out to be a corrupt assets.propcol file. I don't have the broken files any longer, but I was thinking about a way of recovering data out of such corrupt files. Is there already a tool or command line switch or other way to try to recover such files? If I think I would manage all my assets and brushes in those files and out of a sudden it get's unusable for the Affinity program, I would go crazy. It would be good to have a tool that could try to read the file and try to recover as much as it could and write a new file with all that could be recovered (keeping and not writing to the corrupt file of course). Maybe rewriting header or stuff like that, or if it can't detect the file from the file itself, that someone can say, hey this was an assets.propcol file for example and then it tries to recreate it.
  17. AD keeps crashing.. the last time I opened it I accidentally clicked on open the saved file rather than the recovery file, can I still find and open the recovery file manually? It would be great as it has crashed on a regularly basis and I am only at day 2 of trialling.. usually crashes when duplicating an artboard, does that happen in AD non-trail version often too?
  18. I just sat and worked on a photo in the Affinity Photo Beta for Windows. While trying to use a plugin from google nik collection (Viveza) "photo" crashed. And there goes my work. So i would like to have a recovery feature for files.
  19. Hello, I've just made a mistake - I've clicked Remove on one of the Styles (my favourite one - Metal) in Affinity Photo. Is there a way to recover the deleted style? Best Regards AureaPrima
  20. Hello, I had a crash this afternoon and stupidly didn't click open recovery file....oops! Does Affinity Designer put recovery files any place I can navigate to in Finder?
  21. Hello, I very useful feature in Aperture (and other applications) is that it was able to show me areas of highlight clipping of a photo that were slightly blown out (as well as cold areas that were blacked out) In Aperture, there was a way to "recover" some of the details within these hot areas. I can't seem to find the equivalent feature in Affinity Photo (other that the highlight slider, but somehow does not provide me with the same results) Any suggestions/tips? Thanks
  22. I was using AD Trial, then bought AD Full but still had work open in the Trial, which then promptly crashed on me a day after the trial expired, taking a bunch of unnamed documents with it. Running the Trial just tells me that it’s expired, then opens the App Store. Running the Full version does not give me an option to recover the crashed (autosaved) documents. Which files do I need to move from where to where to make AD Full see them on startup and offer recovery?
  23. Hi there ! I didn't find the way to apply highlight recovery in Affinity Develop Persona.. Did I miss something ? Where is the function to be found ? Cheers !
  24. alanthompson.co.nzHi, i'm taking some time to write this so please consider it. 1) There is an opportunity with the axing of Aperture to get a whole lot of clients. Most use it as the RAW developer is just so good. i do. Good exposure limits tonal quality, hence ETTR. Aperture recovers the highlight detail the best via winding back the exposure. This gives better tonal detail in shadows. So the really have a look at how Affinity does this. A recovery slider like Adobe etc really is a joke as it just turns the brightness down. True detail is recovered with the exposure slider. 2) Don't pre adjust our RAWs when opening. Adobe RAW 2012 pre adjusts your images and especially ETTR when opening them. You cane even undo what they have done. This is incredibly arrogant, just stunningly stupid. It neglects the fact that correct exposure in digital limits tonal range. it's just physics. 3) Don't allow computer nerds to dictate. Ask some photographers, not amateurs, actually people that understand the physics. 4) Make you software able to record and play actions like Photoshop does. It's one thing i miss in Aperture. 5) Its very unlikely you will be able to complete head to head with Lightroom & Photoshop in the sort term, even though the Lightroom RAW uses the 2012 Adobe version which pre-adjusts your RAWs. So make your RAW developer able to be used as a plugin, I would use it if it works as well as Aperture RAW engine, even the Capture 1 version. 6) get some Photographers on your side, if you do, we tell everyone and give you free promotion as we are passionate about our art and the quality of how software treats our work. lastly, here's some links I would recommend, probably begs you to have a look at as it will help, also what the guygowan.com videos. As said, you have an opportunity to take the market in RAW development as Adobe and Apple seem to have no interest in real photography. https://luminous-landscape.com/expose-right/ http://www.guygowan.com/focus https://alangraemethompson.wordpress.com/2015/01/17/the-disaster-of-adobe-raw-2012-developer/
