  1. I can see thumbnails for RAW files from previous cameras but not for my current Canon 760D. Any ideas? I am on Windows10.
  2. Hey all, I'm somewhat new to photo editing on the PC, and new at Affinity. I'm currently using the trial and I have noticed the raw files I open, are not the original. It's like they have an edit on them already, and the four corners of the photo are over exposed. This is probably a simple fix but I have no idea how to fix it! Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I'll include some screenshots so you can see what I'm talking about. Thanks!
  3. Hello, I am using batch job to apply a basic grading to my Raw images and export them as Jpeg. This basically works quite good except for the fact that the grading looks quite different to what I get when I open the image manually, develop it and apply the macro then. But this is another topic. My bigger problem is, that portrait format images are always cropped to a landscape image. That means I get a landscape image where the upper part of my originally portrait image is cut off and in the right part of the image is just black (see attachment). Am I doing something wrong? I am using a Nikon D610 which is auto rotating the photos like almost every other digital camera. Thank you! Seeb
  4. Hello, So i downloaded affinity a few days back, and it works wonder when I'm using a jpeg image with it But i did a photoshoot today, opened the RAW with affinity develop persona, did my changes on the file, hit the develop button, and the image it renders has a massive drop in quality, Any idea on how to prevent that ? camera is Canon EOS 600D
  5. Not sure if this has been addressed: It it would significantly improve the AP app experience if users could create tailored workflows easily and then batch process multiple shots using AP and Workflow, together with other suppported photo apps, to automate the current tedious one-photo-at-a-time procedure. I would be happy to help with the development of this feature, as it would greatly benefit many photogs I know who are interested in making the switch from traditional PC laptops to the iPad Pro.
  6. Hi there! I'm new to this forum, but I'm using Affinity Photo and Designer (Mac and now iPad) for some time. Finally we got the great iPad version of Affinity Photo. – I love it, thank you for this great product! :-) One of the most important Affinity Photo use cases on the iPad for me is, to import DNG files with lightning SD card reader on the go. This works well, but there's a limitation currently with merging HDR. Creating a new HDR merge does show the JPG but not the DNG files. Opening (DNG) files from 'Photos' does open the DNG file, but not if using the HDR merge function. Is this a know issue or how can I create HDR merges based on DNG files on the go? Sincerely creator
  7. I've developed some RAW photos, tweaked them in the Photo Persona and exported them as JPGs. Problem is, they have this weird green cast when I preview the jpg and are completely unusable. However, when I bring the exports back into Affinity, the shift goes away? Would this be a color management problem? Any insight would be helpful. Thanks!
  8. Although apple photos app for the iPad says it supports raw files it appears to only read them and then generate a lower resolution preview for viewing in the photos app. This means importing raw files into the affinity app from the photos app is not an option. Is there a workaround without going through the process of uploading the raw file and then having to download it as the only way into affinity?
  9. I'm going to be as diplomatic as possible, but I'm also not going to sugar coat or be PC about things. While I absolutely LOVE Affinity Photo for what it does right, I am equally unsatisfied with what it doesn't do right at the same time. There's a real catch .22 I feel, with AP in that so many people have moved away from Adobe, singing praises that it is THE PS killer etc etc.. Especially for two distinct groups of people. The first group, are those who by principle, don't like being told that they don't own the software they paid for, and don't like being held hostage to a monthly subscription fee. Personally speaking, I think that as long as the company you're paying the sub fee to, listens to its user base, and offers an even return on the investment, that it's fine. But Adobe aren't really that great in those areas, IMO. The second group, whom are also a niche group *I happen to be one of them*, but growing in numbers annually, are Fuji Film users. We are dissatisfied with the way that Adobe/ACR does its demosaicing for sharpening, as it can literally ruin a shot. However.. That is not to say that ACR does a poor job in general when it comes to other basic RAW processing, because it doesn't. It actually does a great job with highlight and shadow recovery, kelvin, curves, contrast and noise reduction. It also does a great job with how it resizes and exports. It also has some really amazing tools, right inside of ACR, not even LR that people often overlook. But I digress. My point is coming... And here it is: For all of the things that ACR does right, I feel that Affinity photo has quite a ways to go when trying to match those features. I personally wouldn't touch Affinity for RAW processing with a 50 foot pole right now. It's.. well, not good. (See? Diplomatic) Since I've deleted LR/adobe stuff from my machine, I can't even compare it to the next best thing, which is Capture One Pro 10. Now that.. is software that pretty much gets those things right. I still think that LR does a better job with highlight recovery vs Capture One, but when compared to Affinity or On1 Photo RAW? No comparison, LR is still king, and the latter two stink on ice. Sorry, that was NOT diplomatic. In my ever so humble opinion, I can never ever recommend Affinity Photo to anyone wanting to get away from their current DAM such as LR/Capture One etc in favor of it. I just don't really see the point of even having the develop module in its current state. I know that's harsh, sorry. And while one can make the argument that you should just "get it right in camera", so that you don't have to mess with highlights or shadows or contr... Yeah, that's not very sensible. Those things exist for a reason. I guess that all I'm saying is that Affinity for the iPad will never be great, until AP for the desktop is much improved in those areas. After all, it has to look up to its big brother/sister, no? Concerned, Doug
  10. HI Folks, this is my first post, and I'm a relative newcomer to photo editing. Forgive me if this question is answered elsewhere. I'm puzzled about the advantages in using the Develop Persona, as the facilities there seem to be a narrowed-down version of what's available in the Photo Persona. I appreciate that the principle is that one works initially on a RAW file using DP and that RAW holds more information. But, if I've worked on the RAW file already, why would I bother to take it to PP and then work on it again there? Can anyone point me to a good source of advice, or a tutorial about that? Many thanks
  11. Hello everyone, I shoot in RAW only, accumulate a lot of images each time I'm out, now with Adobe Bridge I can open any specific folder containing dozens of RAW photos and can visually view all the photos in that file. Is there such a program with Affinity Photo where I can open a folder containing RAW photos and view them all - or am I required to open each RAW photo one at a time in order to view that one photo? Thanks, Lad
  12. I’m opening a canon 60d raw file in AFP, and the colors all look weird. Completely different from what I get in Lightroom. Any idea of what’s going on?
  13. Hi AF team, I recently bought a Nikon Coolpix B700 and Affinity Photo as an alternative to Lightroom. I can't begin learning AP because when I import my RAW images they have a pink/purple hue that ruins the image. I am using AP 1.5.2.69 on Windows 10 Pro x64. I will attach a screen shot of the issue. Unfortunately my raw images are over 20 MB a piece so here they are hosted on dropbox: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/86g4v2bq821kux1/AAAVcOkfT1PHdaw5QJHYFkQ2a?dl=0 Oddly when I uploaded them to dropbox the render in dropbox was also distorted with a pink discoloration. I have no idea what is going on, is there a setting on my camera that could be causing this? Any jpeg images I take appear fine in all applications. Thanks for any help
  14. I notice that when I try to import files from iCloud, particularly RAW files, I use Canon so nothing too obscure, all I can see in the preview pane for file selection is icons of files and no thumbnail preview. This makes importing the right file very hit and miss as I can not actually see what the file contains prior to importing it into Photo. A major problem if I have lots of images to browse and or I want to import files for merging into HDR etc. Is this a bug or an as of yet unimplemented feature that we can expect to see in a future update?
  15. Hi all, Installed Affinity Photo onto my windows 7 pc this afternoon but cannot see how to view my raw images before I open them. When I click file/open/folder where the images are, all I see are the raw icons, nef files in my case, with no image preview. Doesn't Affinity has it's own 'Bridge' type of raw browser? Many thanks, Steve.
  16. As my laptop won't display RAW files, I run every new set of photos through a batch job to create jpeg thumbnails at 600 pixels wide. Because there's no tweaking done in development, I sometimes get some sad-looking results; fortunately, the RAW file will usually turn out OK with a bit of fiddling about. (Sorry -- that's a disrespectful way to describe the amazing capabilities of Affinity Photo! I mean, with some carefully considered image manipulation :)) So here's a very under-exposed photo of a toucan, shot against a very bright sky. If I'd still been shooting in jpg, I'd have been very disappointed: there's very little room for improvement. Now here's the fidd manipulated version. I resized it to 800 px to post on Facebook; I'll do it full size for my portfolio ... but not today.
  17. Hey, i am a Fujiuser and like the idea of Mobile Photo-Editing... Now my Question: is it possible to use the Fuji Camera Profiles in the iPad version of affinity photo (or a other ipad app)? Best, Andreas
  18. Hello, I was pleasantly surprised to discover I could import my raw files from Amazon Drive although the ui could have done a better job of showing it and that is why I was disappointed to see I could not export my work to the cloud storage the same easy way I had imported it. The option to call the amazon app from the share button doesn't work and the option to select Amazon after touching 'Ok' simply is not here. I think adding the already present functionalities from import to export should be in the next update. Thanks in advance to the dev team.
  19. I'm having some trouble loading Sony a9 RAW files into the Affinity iPad app. Are there certain RAW files the app doesn't support? When I try and load the photo from the Photos app Affinity give the images info(name of camera, focal length, f stop, shutter speed..) but the work space in blank. I'm new to the app so I may just be missing something. Thanks for you help.
  20. Recently bought Affinity photo and been using it to edit RAW photos taken on my Nikon D3100. No problems when looking at photos in camera or in affinity. Just upgraded to a Nikon D750 and found that when i open the photos in Affinity they are much much darker and extremely washed out compared to when viewed in camera. Does any one know how to fix this difference that Affinity is showing??
  21. I have actually two questions. 1. Is there any way to make editing RAW images quicker with less sliders in Affinity, like some sort of AUTO feature. Right now I use Capture Pro from Phase One to develop my RAW images due to its very quick and less sliders are all over the place. 2. Capture Pro makes it very easy to develop Batch images all at once. As soon as the image enters Capture Pro, the image is automatically developed with the users saved preset or default presets available. Then I send the tiffs to Affinity Photo for the touch ups. I know Affinity can develop RAW files but is there any way to make it similar with Capture Pro quickness as well as Batch developing? I have a 1-3 day time frame I give out my images to clients. because of my current setup. Would love the wisdom of some professionals on this one. I am looking at getting an iPad because Affinity now being able to be used on there, I just need some wisdom. thank you.
  22. Will the new Affinity Photo for the iPad develop RAW files from a Fuji X-T1 and/or X-T2?
  23. Unable to find how to rotate the image which was shot Vertically, but appears Horizontal. I need to see it Vertical as shot.
  24. Hi! I'm exploring possibilities of AFFINITY PHOTO to get a license, but im checking RAW compatibility list and the new one CANON EOS M6 isn't in the list, and i want to know if this upgrade will be ready soon, cause, i'm not decide wich software use for editing photo yet. Most of the RAW PHOTO EDITORS, didn't have this new compatibility with EOS M6 and M5 like CAPTURE ONE, this morning support team response to my question about this issue and the said: " ...our ambition is to support all top selling high end camera models." ... isn't nice? ...ok. If someone should bring me a light about this issue, will be wellcome! Thanks!
  25. Hello all, I have a new DSLR camera, so this is my first time to shoot RAW files. This camera is the Canon 80D which was just release recently, so I'm wondering if the magenta cast all over my image and very low contrast washed out look is because Affinity Photo doesn't support my camera? I noticed that under "Camera Profiles" I was not able to pull up any menus. I haven't been able to find out anything on the net. Try as I could, I couldn't produce anything close to the real colors that the JPEG image shows, and the overall life to the JPEG is much better no matter what I try to do with this RAW file, but it might just be my ignorance of what to do. Garry :D
