  1. I saw this today and it would seem a great idea for Affinity Photo. Possibly in the develop persona where it's more about interpretation of greyscale data than RGB data.
  2. Hi, I like affinity a lot and want to buy it for my Windows - System. Are the RAW-Files from my lumix g70 supported by this program? There are lots of programs which support the lumix g7 but not the g70... Thanks for your help and best regards : Max
  3. Hi, I have a 9.7” iPad Pro with iOS 11.01 and the latest version of Affinity Photo (1.6.5.61). I have a Canon 70D camera. I saved some RAW files to google Drive. I can’t “Import From Cloud” the CR2 files as they are greyed out. If I go to the Drive app and select “Open In”, I can choose Affinity Photo as an option, but absolutely nothing happens when I do this. Am I missing a step? Are RAWs from my camera not supported? Is there anything else that I can do? My hope was that I could use my iPad and Affinity for post work when I travel and avoid lugging a laptop, but I’m wondering if I may have made a mistake. Any advice and suggestions are greatly appreciated
  4. I'm trying to cobble together a workflow for shooting raw on an iPhone or iPad then editing in Affinity on an iPad. Current best bet would seem to be shoot RAW on iPhone using Lightroom Mobile, which syncs happily with the iPad but I can't yet figure out how to get dng files from Lightroom Mobile into Affinity. Anyone done this? thanks.
  5. Hello, These links contain the supported RAW camera lists for Affinity Photo for iPad. on iOS 15 (and macOS Monterey) on iOS 14 (and macOS Big Sur) on iPadOS 13 (and macOS Catalina) on iOS 12 (and macOS Mojave) on iOS 11 (and macOS High Sierra) on iOS 10 (and macOS Sierra) The list of supported cameras and the algorithms used depend on Apple's implementation. New cameras will be added by Apple in iOS updates. On the iPad build you will be using either system level Apple (core image raw) engine, OR Serif's Raw Engine. If you are using SerifLabs Raw Engine please refer instead to this article to see if your camera is supported:
  6. Hello, this question is about the workflow with Affinity Photo for Windows (not for iPad). While i saw many instructive Affinity videotutorials about specific editing tasks, the following questions seem to be unaddressed there. I understand the Affinity workflow for raw files goes like that: 1. You open a raw file and start editing in the "Develop" persona – contrast, sharpening etc. (rather Lightroom-like). 2. You click "Develop". Now the edits are baked into the file and you arrive in "Photo" persona. More edits including retouching, adjustment layers are possible (rather Photoshop-like). 3. You have to save the results from the editing in "Photo" as a new, big .afphoto-file. So you have TWO files – the original raw and the edited, demosaiced version, which can't be set back to the original state (only to the edited state at the moment of changing from "Develop" to "Photo", demosaiced). Even if you don't change a thing in "Photo", you have to save the new ".afphoto" file. 4. When i re-open the previous raw file, it does *not* reflect the tonal changes i already made in the raw-specific "Develop" persona. It comes untouched (or with the changes by Affinity's develop assistant). There is no Affinity-own image browser (DAM). I'm aware that i can save "Presets" in the "Develop" persona, but it's not the same as saving tonal changes together with a specific file (either as XMP or sidecar) the way Lightroom or Photoshop do. Coming from Lightroom and Photoshop CC, i'd like to know: A. Is the understanding described above correct? B. Are the tonal changes or crops from the raw-specific "Develop" persona saved somewhere? Or will they be only baked into the developped non-raw file and are lost? (In Lightroom or in the Photoshop raw dialog etc. the tonal adjustments are saved as metadata and on re-opening, the image will reflect your changes on the raw-level and you can losslessly re-adjust anything. You can also copy your changes to other files.) C. Can i copy raw adjustments made in "Develop" person from one raw file to another in Affinity? (Not asking about presets here.) Thanks!
  7. Perhaps, some kind soul might be able to help. I have been uploading much up my work to 2 cloud services, Dropbox and pCloud. This afternoon I attempted to download several photos RAW and Jpg, only to see them download into the ether, never showing up on Affinty. What few images that I have on iCloud, no issues, but these two other sites don’t seem to plat well with Affinity. Am I missing something or screwing something up? Any help would be most appreciated.
  8. I came to decision that I no longer want to use PHOTO app - 1. Degrades my photos when imported 2. Back up features are limited , not easy to go straight to NAS, or local backup device. I often use files too large for clouds So I would love an app or feature that stores and manages photos that are used specifically for this app. Not just for regular photo editing for home use but really large files with lots of details- that I can wirelessly connect to backup device so that it doesnt need to stay on my iPAD. For now, I am storing them in files , imported directly from camera. Via SD, and opening them directly in the application. This way, it seems to keep the file size and details that I need that I took with DSLR - otherwise, why am I bothering? I can just use my camera phone for low quality photos I'm also wondering how many photos I can store and organise right on your app???? Maybe this is the way to organize my files... tho I have no idea how to back that up as well on external harddrive. All these ios issues .... ios11 is no help either.
  9. Hello dear Affinity-Team, I really want to thank you for making such a great iOS app. It’s so much fun to edit and create images. However I got some major problems with the raw development. I know that the app is not comparable to any desktop raw development and is not meant to be one. However the raw development was advertised as feature. Unfortunately it is completely useless for me when I try to edit 25MB RAW files from my SONY A6300 on my iPad Pro. But I think Affinity Photo should at least hold up with a free iOS app called „VSCO“. Look at the two pictures I attached, I didn’t pay attention for reducing highlights or any other feature except recovering shadows. created with „VSCO“ increasing the shadows by 100 % created with Affinity Photo increasing shadows by 100% It is quite obvious that Affinity Photo looses all Details in the shadows. Why is that, if a free iOS app can do better (however I don’t like the app at all and love affinity photo)? Am I doing something wrong? I would love to be able to recommend affinity photos for raw development, but as of know it’s simply too bad for that, shadows just being an extreme example for minor quality results in the raw development of affinity photo. I hope that the problem gets fixed soon! And again: I’m not comparing it to a professional desktop application. I think affinity photo could do a lot better! Kind regards, David B.
  10. Hello, I used to be a Lightroom user and could upload all my raw files direct into Lightroom after saving the whole lot to a specified file on my computer. I could then edit each image from a ticker tape of small icons from the bottom of the screen. Does affinity do anything like this? I often have a minimum of 50 raw images to upload, save and edit, importing them individually to the Develop persona is tedious, is there a quicker solution?
  11. I hope I'm in the right place for this. I have a Canon SX240HS and an SX30, both running CDHK firmware. Both produce superb images but only the SX30 is supported in Affinity Photo so far, so could I request the SX240 be added to the list please? Wonderful program, and I am sure it will go from strength to strength.
  12. Hi Affinity, Today I bought your iOS app for my iPad and am saddened to see RAW support is not implemented for the Canon Rebel SL2. I understand this is a new camera, but did not realize RAW was a uniquely catered format per each type of SLR camera. Is there any hope of supporting this RAW in the near future? Am I doing something wrong on the camera settings side? This worked just fine with my previous Rebel SL1. Thank you for your time! Jared
  13. Hello Community, My question may seem too simple, but here it goes. I shoot in RAW and process my photos with Affinity Photo for Mac. I have recently been given guidelines for the photos I can post on my website, with minimum dimensions, dpi and crop ratios. I guess I was hoping someone could help me figure out how to meet these guidelines while processing. I know I can set a size, but sometimes the photos become to light on the dpi when I crop. I know I can try to fix this problem with my camera, but I hate to get great shots that are then ineligible when made to fit the guidelines. Any formulas, thoughts or help?
  14. This was an image taken on Fraishthorphe Beach on the east coast of England. Processed in Affinity Photo on the iPad I was able to create a hi-key finish thus isolating the riders from the otherwise fairly boring background. The hint of the beach still exists in the foreground from the ridges and shadows farmed by the sand. The final step was to de-saturate and adjust the contrast.
  15. Hi, After reading through some threads in the bugs forum, I learned why there is no automatic lens correction for my Canon Powershot G7 X MarkII - it is not part of the lensfun database. Obviously, since this database has last been updated in 2015. I'd appreciate it if there where other ways to provide for lens correction (direct contact with the lens/camera manufacturer?). Right now, I'd either have to manually correct every single raw image for lens distortion or use the somewhat ugly development software provided by Canon. A better solution would be appreciated. Christian
  16. I have recently got affinity photo for iPad and am having a variety of issues. I use a Sony a7ii and can't load raw files. Dodge and burn refuses to work for me. I have iPad Pro 10.5. Other things are problematic at times. please advise..
  17. Hi. I use a panasonic G4 to take pictures und want to work with the rawfiles in Affinity Photo on iPad Pro 2017. But affinity foto (only on iPad?) can’t handle this format. I wish you can add this feature in near future. Thx for reading and sorry for eventually bad english.
  18. It would be nice to have the "extreme" option in the raw developer exposure settings. This would allow users to develop highly under exposed images, for example, when the flash did not go off.
  19. Hi, I'm interested in buying this software for ipad. I've read that you need to use icloud to import photos into RAW. Is this still true or has it been solved with the new versions? I would like to import directly from SD. Thank you!
  20. I am using AP for iPad pro 2017 and sometimes i want to smash the pad against the wall!!! -Thanks, Affinity... The app is so EXTREMLY BUGGY, it is ABSOLUTLY NOT USABLE! Youre working on a pic for maybe 1 or 2 hours and you want to make a last selection or something else and then... CRASH! Every changes lost! I want to know WHEN is the next USABLE update release date????? This app is actual FAAAR FAR AWAY from a "PHOTOSHOP-KILLER"! You maybe got 2% of it! So... WHEN COMES THE UPDATE TO IPAD???????
  21. How does one save their RAW adjustments (in the development persona) prior to compiling it into the photo persona? In other words I’d like to save my adjustments and updates to a RAW file i.e. lens distortion, detail refinement and noise reduction et al to a file so that if I require to return to that RAW file to make further adjustments I don’t have to reinvent the wheel. This scenario also applies to photo’s that were taken at the same time and require the identical processing.
  22. Hi, when will you add denoise support for the Sony A6500 camera raw format (ARW)? I can open the raw files in version 1.5.2.69 but noise reduction does not work no matter what I try. Please help!
  23. Hello, I'm new to the forum. I use affinity photo to edit some pictures taken with a dji drone. I've a strange picture last night with a lot of red and blue pixel on my raw file. Can you tell me how to remove them before develop?
  24. Here is a few of my last walk in my county.
  25. If I try and use CR2 files for a panorama in 1.6.4 the result is an error saying "no panoramas found". I need to convert them to tiffs or something else. Version 1.5.2 can use the CR2 files in the panorama feature no problem.
