  1. Hello everyone, I'm still in a state of shock having just found out that Publisher cannot do the imposition needed so that I can print my book in a form suitable for binding. Furthermore, there are no plans to add this feature. If one is having many copies printed by some commercial printer, then all that is needed is to provide the printer with a pdf file and the printer will do the imposition. However, if you are printing it yourself, which is what I am doing, then you have to do the imposition yourself. I am hoping that some members of the forum have done this and can tell me what software they use to do this. There is a free piece of software on the web that can do it but this software cannot handle bleed, which is something I need to use. (I also need crop marks and registration marks.) One thing that crosses my mind is that (SURELY) other DTP apps will do imposition so, are there such DTP apps that can open a Publisher file. If so, I could read the file into that app and print from there. (Then, I suppose, I could continue to use that app for all my other DTP needs. I never thought I would work two years on a book and then find that I could not print it.) Ideas please. Robin
  2. I am very confused about printing. It doesn't make sense. Is there a tutorial on printing basics for Affinity Photo. I am very proficient on Photoshop but am finding it difficult to find my icc paper or how to create a profile for a certain paper. some presets appear from my photoshop printing but I don't see my list of papers until I go to Soft Proof. If i select a paper there and then select "Add Preset", that preset doesn't appear anywhere that I can see. any help would be a big help. thanks C.
  3. When I use the Pen Tool to create a path to be used as a cutline for my printer/cutter, the printer software is interpreting these as multiple lines on top of one another instead of a single curve. If I use a shape tool (e.g. rectangle) there is no such issue. It only occurs when using the Pen Tool. The attached image shows how the curve is being interpreted. This is a single curve in AD but shows up as two lines is Versaworks (printer rip software). This does not occur in files created previously in earlier versions of AD; only 1.7.1. My business as stopped and I cannot send out any jobs. Please help.
  4. Hey Everyone, I've been playing with the beta and love it and am trying to create a promo piece/booklet. Unfortunately I can't get the double sided printing preview or execution to work properly without jumbling everything around or not including a full preview. Has anyone had success with this ? Thank you :) -S
  5. Hi Since the most recent update when i try and print Publisher is just crashing and not actually sending anything to the printer. I have attached a video of the error to show the process. Thanks Clyall90 Printing_Crash.swf
  6. My suggestion for a future release: It would be very handy if you could add a printing area (length and width), so it would be possible to define an exact area the printer is printing on the selected paper size. It's handy when printing on a paper sheet that should have a white border when placing in a mount. I added a screenshot of my other RAW application ON1 Photo RAW 2019 that has this feature. Thanks & keep up the great work. Claudius
  7. I've been testing out printing my art prints from Affinity Designer iPad. Sometimes I've exported to my computer then printed, and one time I printed straight from the iPad. I want to print an 8x10 sized print, with some white space around. I have previewed the document with crop marks only, with bleed marks only, and with bleed and crop marks checked. Registration marks has been checked through all scenarios. I can't seem to get the print with the correct crop marks so that when I cut it I still have a margin of white space around the print. Does anyone know how I can fix this? Is there a setting I'm missing?
  8. Right now I'm having an issue where all exported PDFs that have text won't print. To verify this I made a document with text only. It exports fine and displays in acrobat correctly, but as soon as I try to print acrobat gives a "This document could not be printed" error. Note I tried a variety of fonts. I also tried printing from other computers and I get the same error. If I convert all text to areas/curves it works fine. So it seems to be directly related to fonts. Any ideas?
  9. Hi there, I'm currently making a booklet for work and I'm struggling to get the page ordering correct for it to print as a booklet. It's a 25 page document and the pages were made in the correct order however when I go to print as a booklet (flip short sides, A4 paper) my back page ends up being covered by a blank sheet which is half of the second page and then my back page is in facing to the last page. I'll add images if it helps because I'm atrocious when it comes to explaining things. Thank you
  10. I really like what I see about Affinity. I am trying to replace both PS5 and LR5. The main thing I use PS for that I really need is the ability to bring in a blank white background like 10"x7" and then put my photo on it so I can print 5x7 greeting cards. I need to be able to add text in different fonts, including ones I have imported, and .psd images. Is this possible in Affinity? I would also like to be able to add borders if possible. Could I change the opacity and blend modes? In other words, can I create a document with layers that I can then print? Thank you!
  11. I've been having some print issues while trialing the Publisher beta. Single sided printing is fine, but if I try to modify any settings in the print driver (Fuji-Xerox DocuCentre) to do double sided printing they revert back to default after confirming. Workaround is to export a PDF and print from Adobe Acrobat.
  12. 1.7.0.249 version windows 10 HP Envy 4502 Series I am trying to print double sided in book format. When the printer pulls the page back in it doesn't seem to pull it in far enough to print. Therefore it cuts off the edge of my print. My margins and page sizes work properly because I can print it out and manually put the page back in to print on the other side and it's fine. I can also open the pdf and print double sided and it works. It is a little bit smaller when I do that though. I have gone through a ton of ink and paper and I can't sort it out. I only have one printer that prints double sided automatically so I can't test it with a different one.
  13. This is in addition to my previous posts on the current impossibility to use of Affinity Photo print manager for accurate printing: Affinity Photo print manager should be updated How Affinity Photo meets Canon pro printers Today I tried to print an image from Affinity Photo, again, but calculating the scaling per cent with Calculator. This could remove, temporarily, the problem that Affinity photo print manager does not provide the physical size of printed image, but only the scaling per cent. OK. Let us print an image with, I say, 51% of scaling. You can see Affinity photo print manager below. The image is shown well aligned with respect to the page borders: But, once you start printing so that Affinity photo calls the printer driver (Canon Pixma Pro-1 in this case, but the same is observed on other Canon printers), you see... the image is turned to the page corner. And there is no way how to change the image location... That is, I guess, Affinity Photo print manager, when connecting with printers, does not do it correctly... In practice this means that you cannot align printed image on page when printing from Affinity Photo. To be honest, this does not allow printing something at all... I see this problem on the Canon professional printers (such as Pixma Pro-1 or Prograf). Compare how this works in Photoshop. When launching PS print manager we can set up both physical size and scaling per cent, on your choice and without boring calculations to match desired height or width of the image: And then, PS print managers calls printer drivers in correct way so that the image is well aligned to the page borders: CONCLUSION. It is the third week as I use Affinity Photo (trying to migrate to it from Photoshop). I got much editing work in Affinity Photo already. I like it much more than Photoshop, and believe your project has great future. But still unable to print something without problems... Photography exists not only in the fileds of the internet (which is a short flash in the world history). Prints survive in centuries as those made by Bruegel and Duerer five centuries ago. I therefore hope that Affinity photo print manager will have been improved in the next stable release, to meet professional photo-artists who are de-facto print makers as well.
  14. At least not in Indesign CS5, and I was delighted that Publisher has a feature for tableau printing! The absolute coronation would be even now, if horizontally and vertically different bleeds would be possible - including a rotation of the page (with suitable backgrounds) to keep the number of cuts low (works at corel draw) -> see screenshot
  15. not Let me join the list of complaints about the inability to center an image when printing in Affinity. I have used both the direct print mode as well as the soft proofing method but to no avail. The images are always skewed to one side. I agree that this is an important issue if Affinity intends to replace Photoshop as a significant image post processor. This is not a "printer" issue. I have the Canon Pixma Pro 10 and when I print the same image using Photoshop controls, it is well centered. I am very interested in shifting entirely to Affinity but, so far, I remain hesitant because of this serious problem. Affinity should consider making Canon Print Studio Pro available as a good solution. I have tried but learned that Affinity is not compatible with Print Studio Pro. I sincerely hope that this issue can be resolved soon. From what I read it has lingered on for quite some time and has not been resolved with the newest upgrade which I am using.
  16. When printing a booklet: Legal size paper Landscape mode Flip on Short Side ...It prints great with everything except the model is changed to Flip on Long Side. It prints that way and its set to that when I enter back into the printing options. I have tried different approaches and still I cannot get it to print "Flip on Short Side". I know there is a current problem with printing, maybe this is part of that or something separate?? https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/75668-printing-issue/ I am running the current beta build: 1.7.0.206
  17. When trying to print with Affinity Photo on Canon iPF750 plotter, i keep receiving the following message: "Cannot find module necessary for printing. Re-install the printer driver." I have updated the driver to the latest version but i still cannot print. This issue doesn't exist when printing on my Konica Minolta printer. Any suggestions?
  18. Hello Everyone. I have down loaded from the Permajet print paper manufacturer web site a whole bunch of ICC profiles for printing. Problem: All of the downloaded profiles have the suffix .icm - but Affinity Photo searches for profiles with a .icc suffix. So. Are the icm profiles compatible with Affinity and how do I change the search to include icm profiles? All help and advice gratefully received. Thank you.
  19. I printed an A4 montage as a Christmas present only to discover that it emerged from the printer as a disappointingly washed-out print. I know now this was mostly my fault as I had never set up Affinity for printing and it was using its default settings. I usually save my photos from Affinity and print from the Epson Easy Print programme. However as it was A4 I printed direct. I watched the videos about printing and soft proofing hoping I had found the solution. I didn't know what document profile to use so I chose Adobe RGB (1998) as that's what I used in Photoshop. I set the soft proofing to the printer paper I was going to use and ticked gamut check. I tweaked the curves (as shown in the video) until the grey splodges had disappeared. I increased the vibrance and HSL a little as too much brought some grey splodges back. I also found I needed to sharpen the photo more. The rendering intent was Absolute Colourimetric (None of them seemed to make any difference.) I did remember to turn off the soft proofing layer. In the print dialogue I chose the printer profile to match the printer paper but I didn't know what to put in the Profile option at the top so that was left as Custom. The photos I printed were certainly an improvement as far as colour intensity was concerned but were a bit darker and rather muddy. As you can tell I am well out of my comfort zone when dealing with setting up the printer and soft proofing (which is totally new to me) so if any experts out there could give me some pointers on printing from Affinity and soft proofing I would be very grateful (or point me to some info already available that I might have missed). TIA And a belated Happy New Year to all
  20. I am trying to print a picture of a person. The picture came out far too light (blown out?). I reduced the brightness and the result was better but is still very light and seems to have yellow/greenish cast to it. I know there are things you can alter like colour spaces but I have so little understanding of this it really would be complete trial and error. Is there a procedure or method one can follow to reduce time and wastage? TIA BoW
  21. Hi all I made a simple page with some text overlaid on a box behind it. I then flipped the items on the page horizontally and all looked OK until I printed it. The text had 4 lines of text with the top line Underlined. The text came out to the right of the background box, and the underline on the top line stayed in the box. I have attached a picture of the screen and printer output to make it clearer. Thanks Vince
  22. I tried printing on 100 x 150 mm photo paper, but Publisher 4.7.0.192 refused to change the paper size from A4 despite setting it to 100 x 150 mm.
  23. Hi. I have the following problem (I think it's a bug): When I print a card with the N-Up option, there are some crop marks that do not come out if I activate the bleed or the horizontal or vertical gaps. I attach two sample images (the first one with bleed, and the second with h-gap and v-gap). I need double crop marks where the arrows are pointing. Thank you!
  24. I can no longer print any of my Craft Artist files; it was working up to a few months ago. As I have spent a lot on the software etc., can I save the files as jpg. or pdf.? Otherwise, why are they not printing? Printer okay with every other type of file and programme.
