  1. I’m having trouble adjusting the pressure of my vector lines in Affinity Designer on iOS. It seems that whatever brush I first use to lay the line down needs to be temporarily switched to different vector brush and then switched back to my original brush before it will allow me to adjust the pressure. In my attached clip, I used the basic vector brush, but I’ve tried a handful of brushes from a handful of vendors and the behavior is the same. I have to ink, change the brush, and then change it back. For each line, it’s pretty rough. Can’t seem to find if there’s something under the hood I’m missing, or if this is expected behavior. (Thanks in advance, all.) E45911A8-D131-4BE5-AD98-9268E716A1CC.MOV
  2. I just tried affinity designer today and very disappointed by its brush. First it has no "soft" brush. Even if I set the hardness to zero it's still hard compared other software say ps. it got harder when I toggled on the accumulation pressure. Second, I found the pressure level is not high enough. The stroke I created in ps has a smoother gradients. The stroke had 80 levels of black and white but the stroke in affinity had only 60 so to speak. Did I miss some setting? how to solve these problems?
  3. Hello guys, I would like to ask you, if there is any possibility how to set pressure of the brush while using pen tool? not just the same widht brush. thank you
  4. I downloaded the trial yesterday, and while the tablet works fine with photosop, krita and illustrator, Affinity designer does not response to pressure changes AT ALL. I tried reinstalling the drivers, changing the brushes, fiddling with the setting, rebooting, and nothing seem to work. OS: Windows 10 x64 build 1607 desktop Tablet: Huion 1060P (new 8192)
  5. Currently every time I start a new document I have to set the Pressure Controller for a brush manually. Would like to be able to set it as a default either in the Tools preferences or in Edit > Defaults > Save as Default.
  6. In my humble opinion, the pressure control in AD is too simplistic. I suggest the developer to implement something like this. If you worry about cluttered UI, you can hide it behind an "advanced" button. Or set it like grid and guide manager. In the right, there should be a list of mathematical function (like the brush pressure editing) and save profile. This is just a suggestion, the developer of course know better and i believe they could expand on this better. .
  7. I've been using both Affinity Photo and Designer for a few years now, both with an old WACOM bamboo create which has served me pretty well (no outstanding issues whatsoever!), but I just got a brand new 2048 sensitive tablet as a gift (Adesso Cyber Tablet T12), and I've been having a hell of a time trying to figure out what is going wrong with the sensitivity settings in Photo. I've gone through the Tablet driver settings (all the most recent) and the sensitivity is definitely working on the Tablet itself, but despite updating everything to the most recent versions for both my computer and Photo, the pen just doesn't register the pressure sensitivity properly. While it does register pressure, it's so weak that I have to legitimately push down to get any lines out of a brush with pressure turned on, despite the sensitivity being turned on to maximum through the driver set up. Non pressure sensitive brushes draw and track fine, and I can lightly tap to select menu items without any issues, but for some reason the brushes themselves just will not work properly. And this is the same with Affinity default brushes as well as custom Photo and Photoshop brushes. I've gone through everything to try and find a way to boost sensitivity to the brushes, but I haven't found anything. Is this a hardware-to-software issue I'm just going to have to hope gets solved at some point, or is there anything I'm missing that would help?
  8. As per title: a line can be either solid with a pressure profile, or dashed, but not both. See this thread for discussion and my current workaround, but it is less than ideal. Thanks.
  9. Hi, I recently purchased Affinity Photo along with a Huion Display Tablet (Kamvas GT-156HDV2) and was trying out the brush tool when I noticed that the brushes don't taper very nicely, especially when I start the stroke (was drawing from bottom to top in the attached image). and it also ends a bit funky too. Not sure if it's a tablet driver issue (also contacted Huion) or could be a compatibility problem? UPDATE: This also seems to be a problem in Affinity Design, but doesn't look to be as bad. Also, even when I apply pressure at the beginning of the stroke, it starts off with the thin line before it jumps to the correct size. I use other programs as well (Autodesk Sketchbook and Clip Studio) and I have not encountered this problem
  10. Lots of times when I break a curve then play with the stroke pressure profile to widen or shrink the stroke widths... it would be super cool to have a quick flip feature to just switch the profile width direction, instead of doing it manually. Currently we have a "save profile" and "reset" button and there is still room in the centre for a "flip" button or the even repurposing the existing icon from the tool shelf could work here, see attached. :-)
  11. Hello. I would like to know if there is possibility to set the pressure sensitivity of a Wacom pen. I would like also to have some pencil brushes. Do they exist in Aphinity photo? Or do I need Aphinity Designer for this? I want to do some sketching. Thank you. With Kind Regards. Jozef
  12. Hello everyone! I've noticed one thing about brush stroke in Affinity Photo, and I'm wondering if it's possible to achieve a certain brush stroke ending at all. So, here is the thing. If you look at the attached screenshot, you will notice that brush ending in AP is thick (Size Jitter is set to Pressure 70%, see another screenshot), whereas brush stroke f.e. in Sketchbook Pro is thin and smooth. I'm using a Wacom pressure sensitive tablet, of course. I've been playing with all the brush settings but I've not managed to get the same result as I can get in many other programs (may be even in PS?). I always get thin stroke beginning and thick ending. Is there a way to adjust any brush settings to get the same type of line as f.e. Sketchbook Pro and many other programs allow? UPD: It looks that in those programs which can provide this kind of brush stroke, brush size jitter is not only controlled by Pressure but also by Velocity at the same time. I mean, to achieve this smooth brush stroke ending hand should "take off" quite quickly.
  13. Hey all, here's the latest piece I've just finished in 1.6 b1. It's a fun and colourful graphic Heart illo I'm selling on Redbubble (shameless plug). ;-) Yes I know it's pink but purple heart sounds better. It's basically all line work with some filled in shapes but it's really the first time I've done a piece like this in Designer using the path or stroke pressure feature pretty much exclusively. It takes a little getting used to but it ended up feeling really nice and comfortable and kinda slick as compared to illustrator's method. Gotta say though, the expand stroke nodes situation is still a major issue for me as I usually expand and unite everything to make a watertight piece. It almost forced me to abandon Designer for this and jump back to illustrator. But I stuck with it and I'm happy with the final product. Here's a link to my Redbubble page showing it on various products. The bold colour and linework really pops. https://www.redbubble.com/people/kevincreative/works/26652427-purple-heart-i-know-its-pink-but-there-it-is
  14. I'm usually pretty creative in finding solutions, but this one has me stumped. Anyone got any suggestions as to how to create something like the attached? So far, I've been trying by hand. But the tiny variations in pressure on the lines stands out. The line pressure tool, as we know, is fairly restrictive. I don't want to recreate the attached exactly. Just that effect, of line pressure, but arranged in a circular way, geometrically even. Any clues?
  15. Windows Affinity Designer: I dug out my hardly-used Wacom Bamboo digital tablet today and have managed to activate pressure sensitivity for the peNcil tool and the vector Brush tool via the Controller menu. Wonderful! But can pressure sensitivity be applied to the Pen tool, too? I cannot seem to work it out.
  16. Hi, It seems that this is similar to the bug that I just posted in Bugs forum for stable version: https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/34331-pressure-in-stroke-panel-isnt-applied-to-a-solid-line-type/ However, in 1.5.5 beta 1 this bug behaves somewhat differently. It doesn't revert to solid line at all unless you Reset Pressure. But if you try to modify Pressure again it changes the solid line to the brush last used (and changes its opacity). If the last used textured brush was an image (ex. assorted 196 rope, 128 chains), it displays only solid line and ignores Pressure graph. I couldn't find a way to reset this, like I was able in the stable version's bug. Thanks! Petar
  17. Hi all, need a bit of help with my Designer for Windows. I have a graphic tablet and it doesn't seem to cooperate with Designer... no pressure sensivity. I have controller set to "pressure", tried with different brushes and it still doesn't work. Any tips? Karola
  18. Currently the pressure of the stroke's brush can be configured in a separate panel as seen in the attached image. Especially for more complex curves I find it very hard to adjust the graph in the panel to correctly match the segments of the curve. It would be really great to have a tool that shows the control points of the pressure graph directly on the canvas next to the spline so that the thickness of the path can adjusted in an immediate feedback loop. I imagine the controls something like in the second attached file.
  19. I decided to try out Affinity Photo today and found that pressure sensitivity doesn't seem to work at all for me. I'm aware of how to setup brushes to use pressure in the brush settings dynamics section and also tried using the "Force pressure to control size" button, but nothing seems to work. I use a Monoprice rebranded UC-Logic tablet (the PF1209). While one may be quick to say, "I've never heard of UC-Logic/Monoprice tablets; you can't expect that to work since it isn't Wacom," the thing is that this tablet works with anything that supports Wacom tablets. Both Wacom and UC-Logic tablets, as well as many other brand tablets, use the same WinTab API that programs use to support tablets. Any program using this standard, which Affinity Photo seems to since it loads WinTab32.dll, should more or less be able to work with any tablet that's designed to use it, which this tablet does. I use this tablet without issue in Photoshop, Clip Studio Paint, Maya, Paint Tool Sai, and ZBrush. It even works with Wacom's extremely unusual WebTablet plugin for Firefox. While I can't claim to know how exactly Affinity's tablet support is programmed specifically, there shouldn't be any reason my tablet wouldn't work with it. With that said, pressure sensitivity is something that's 100% crucial to me in a program like Affinity Photo. I hope the pressure sensitivity issue is something that's being investigated because it seems to be an issue affecting many people. I'm just posting to say I'm another one of those people for whom pressure sensitivity doesn't seem to work and that it seems to be an issue that affects more than just Wacom tablets.
  20. I would like to have an ability to use stroke-pressure profile for (vector) brush as well, not only when I use pen tool (with mouse). This feature is in Illustrator and I am missing it in Designer. EDIT: I mean to have applied custom stroke profile immediately as I draw (using vector brush) with stylus on gr. tablet. OR if not possible then to have chance to create my own custom vector brush with typical narrow cat eye/pupil shape as workaround. And in both situation have chance to change stroke aftewards (which probably works well now).
  21. I started trying out the affinity photo beta. I'm impressed and I will surely buy this great product when it leave the beta stage. I noticed bug when i try to paint witch my Wacom Intuos CTH-480 tablet. Affinity Photo doesn't recognize pressure at all. I have tried using pressure settings in brush panel but without any effect. My wacom driver version 6.3.17-3. System win7 64bit.
  22. Allow for saving pressure profiles and be accessed as a dropdown menu- similar to brushes.
  23. Affinity Designer is a great program but it would be ideal if it behaved like such programs as Clip Studio Paint, a Japanese program that gives you pressure sensivity regardless of what driver you have on your computer. I have computers with NTrig, Wacom and Yiynova and Affinity only gives me pressure sensitivity when working with Wacom. I can solve the problem with the pen tool in Affinity because it responds to my tweaking the pen's pressure. However, the brush stroke doesn't respond to its tweaking. I believe having both sensitive to pressure or at least tweakable (having the ends of the line thinner than its body) would make the program attractive to a lot more people, as it wouldn't be effective only to Wacom users. Undo/Redo buttons would also be great. Keep up the good work!
  24. Hi everyone! I bought affinity designer and started using it for my professional work and came across a problem. I want my stroke to have pressure and both ends to be circular but for some reason only one of them is circular and the other one is looking weird. Attached files will help to see what I mean. I cant figure out how to fix this problem.
