  1. So I want to make pixel art and I see the pixel persona being used for that but I don't want it to be raster I'd like to export my pixel art as an SVG (with no raster) so I was wondering if that was possible with something made in pixel persona. If not is there some sort of pixel tool for the normal designer persona? All I saw there was the rectangle tool and that'd be a pain to use for pixel art.
  2. The Affinity suite is getting better every year, but is still lacking some core features and controls for professional workflows. I have recently come across some difficulties with the move tool and the control that is needed specifically in the area of pixel art. You can change some scaling controls such as Performance > View Quality > Nearest Neighbor and on the Layers Panel > Blend Options(Gear) > Anti-aliasing > Force Off. This still does not seem to help when scaling individual elements in my documents (See attach video. Compares Affinity's scaling operation to Aseprite). 2023-01-29_141242.mp4 I would like to suggest control added to the move tool itself as it is in PSD. (Image from https://graphicdesign.stackexchange.com/questions/5376/is-it-possible-to-scale-using-nearest-neighbour-with-the-transform-tool ) There are some bugs pertaining to this issue and the pixel brush tool discussed in another post, but I think this suggestion should still be considered for future progression of the software. 3. Hi. I created manually a huge collection of simulated pixel art. There is a bunch of more than 8 thousand individual pieces that Affinity couldn't manage in one fils, so I have spliced them in files that contains between 400 to less than 600 artboards, each containing one piece. Despite the files are hardly managed by my old laptop, I tried for first time the persona export because up to date I never had to make so massive amount of files. So each artboard, a perfect square of 1008 by 1008 pixels containing colored rectangle shapes of 24px side, perfectly aligned by Affinity snap fitting perfectly inside the square as a different image. I will not upload full size screenshots, but the issue will be clear. Designer persona shows squares like separated in preview. in outline view they are shown with no space at all between, no matters the magnification. Export directly one by one from designer results in a perfect 1008px square, with no separation between the colored squares, but export persona DOES! it export each artboard in 1009px and with a clear separation of 1 px between squares!!! so is totally unusable to export my more than 8 thousands figures!!!! that is not only frustrating, is very imprecise. Note I "adjusted" one to 1008px to test, but the result is very bad too, so I need your help, pleas as soon as possible.
  4. I've been piecing together a large image of the first level of the Sierra/GameArts video game "Thexder" from many screenshots. I open each screenshot PNG in Photo, crop off the bottom game UI, copy the image, close it, and paste that copied content into my main document. As I paste these shots into my primary document, the sharp solid colors in the image start to degrade at their edges, in ways you would see if you resampled an image to scale it. I am NOT scaling anything. Sometimes it's REALLY bad upon pasting a new chunk of image into the main document. In THIS specific case, it seems that undoing the paste, zooming WAY out in the document, and pasting again results in a correct paste (this time it pastes in at the top left corner of my document, where as before it pasted where I was working). Moving layers around shows the color shifts happening as part of rendering the layers on screen, but merging down, etc, will eventually start to show that the edges of hard color borders are "smudged" with slight color shifts. Anyone who plans to use Affinity Photo to create pixel art should beware. This could be especially problematic when changing between set palettes and full-color. It also has me wondering how much degradation is going on all the time. How much blur is Affinity Photo adding to everyone's images while they're working on them, unsuspectingly? I only noticed this because of working at the pixel level, zoomed in at them, and knowing the explicit limit of 16-colors in these screenshots (the game only shows 16 colors from an MCGA palette). My main document is a regular Affinity Photo document. I am importing PNG images from Boxer (DOSBox shell in Mac OS) which are 320x200. I've attached an image showing what's happening. I have zoomed way in so that you can see the individual pixels (very important with pixel art). The left side of the image shows sharper content while the right side has areas that have been through layer movement and merging down. One edge even turned partially transparent. EDIT: It seems to be getting progressively worse as I extend my canvas to the right and downward, as the older content to the upper left does not seem degraded.
  5. Is Affinity Designer is a good tools to make pixel art? Do I need Affinity Photo to make it (pixel art)? Is there any course of Affinity Designer to make Pixel art?
  6. If you read this solution: https://graphicdesign.stackexchange.com/a/79248 And watch this video: You'll see how effect this method is for converting Raster Pixel Art to Vector Pixel Art and I think it would be an amazing tool for Affinity Designer to have!
  7. Hey, This might sound so imature but there are actually digners that redesign textures in minecraft. I regular use photoshop to create these designs but now i found this tool for only 60 bucks permanent and thaught if this is a good replacedment. I need to know which program i should rather use when im only designing with my mouse on rasters in pixels (16x16, 32x32, 64x64 ....). Siaro~
  8. Hi, I'm new to using Affinity Photo. I've been using PS up until now and I've always wanted to give this a try. What I'm trying to do is have my pixel tool snap to a grid and color that entire pixel to create an upscaled version of pixel art. for example my grid is divided into 32 pixel boxes, my pixel brush is set to 32 pixels but I want it to snap to the boxes Thanks!
  9. Final concept art for client's top-down JRPG game, Luminare Saga. This time I decided to create this with Affinity Designer instead of with Affinity Photo. Amazingly enough it does not change my workflow at all :). You can see more of these concepts and some of my process on my Artstation profile. Enjoy!
  10. Hi, I'm using the Windows Beta Version 1.5.0.17 and I'm trying to add a 16x16 pixel logo and transform it to around 400x400 px. When I'm transforming the pixel logo, it will be displayed very smooth, if I will open the embedded picture it will be displayed correctly. Is there any way to disable the antialiasing? br Fchen
