  1. I am attempt to figure out how to "edit" a photo from Apple Photos with Affinity Photo and then send it back to Photos. All the tutorials seem to have old version of Photos with "extentions" button, which is no longer on my version of Photos. - Very strange and upsetting. I can edit the image - now i want send it back!!! Please advise!
  2. I need clarification on how Affinity Photo saves images. My normal workflow is to import RAW images directly into the Photos App on OS for organization. From there I would like to edit images within Affinity. I understand there are 2 ways to accomplish this and there lies the confusion. I select edit in Photos App then select ‘edit in Affinity’ dialogue. The image is opened in Affinity after instructions that says close image when done and select save changes in Photos App. The edited image now replaces the original in Photos App. Is the image saved in the Photos Library? If I decide to export the image I have options for file types and location, but if I just select save or save as, where does the image get saved? When I select reveal in finder, says library>group containers>(some random folder)>intermediates. Is someone could walk me through the ins and outs of saving vs save as vs export that would be helpful. Or is there a video that explains all this. Thank you very much.
  3. hi, very new to affinity, im making a document for work, and I wanted to test the print by exporting it as a pdf, however all the images are coming out super pixelated. please help! all images are linked.
  4. As a new, and very happy, convert to Affinity from the Creative Cloud I have a question!! Leaving Lightroom CC I have now lost a viewer for all my photos from whatever source. In Lr these are hosted in the Cloud and easily viewed and shared without having to have an enormous hard-drive! Having moved to Affinity I needed somewhere to 'hold' the photos from where they could be viewed and shared. I chose Apple Photos and all is fine; all photos from my phone go there automatically and I can import RAW files directly form my camera. Photos also holds the originals in the Cloud when space is at a premium. If I right click on one of these RAW files in Photos, and select Edit in Affinity, the photo opens in the Photos Persona and not in the Develop Persona. I have to then click on Develop Persona to edit the RAW file. Is this an expected behaviour when using Photos and do I lose anything in the image editing by having to select the Develop Persona? As an aside, has anyone got a suggestion for storage other than Photos? Peter H
  5. I started working with dropping photos into frames this week and ran into problems. Previously with some of the betas this worked but I noticed two issues with the MAS version. 1. When I try to select the slider Publisher won't let me grab it and disappears before I do so. 2. The slider will be located far off from the image. With some of the betas it was neatly positioned under the photo. Now there seems to be no rhyme or reason for it's position. I just end up using the preset framing positions located under the right click menu. At least this gives me some control but, or course, I can't be exact.
  6. Hi All I am using the Mac Mojave and the photos app. When I click on a photo and edit in affinity photo , make changes in affinity photo, and then close the document, save. The save doesn't change in photos - and the photo remains the same what am I doing wrong? thanks,
  7. Sorry if this has been answered elsewhere but I have searched to no avail. Does Affinity Photo for iPad have an Apple Photos extension enabling editing in Photo directly from Apple Photos? Thanks for your time.
  8. Is it correct that only a photo imported to a document using the Place Image Tool can then have transparency applied to it using the Transparency Tool? If I draw a picture frame then place a photo, when I try to apply transparency, the slider appears in the photo but has no affect, which seems odd.
  9. Hey guys! I am new to the affinity scene and just wondering if I can add a logo or photo behind something or someone? thanks :)
  10. With the update to iOS 11, images synchronised from iOS devices to a Mac are in HEIC file format. When I attempt to open these images using Affinity Photo from within Apple Photos the application/extension reports "The file type is not supported." Opening a file from Photos in the Affinity Photo standalone app is not affected as the export process changes the file to a suitable type.
  11. Hi, I have an issue regarding opening photos from the apple photos app on my computer. When I go to "Open" and select the "photos" section not all the photos show up that are in my folders in that app. 've attached a photo for reference. There should be other photos included in this view but they don't show up. Why is that? Alternatively, why can't I drag and drop them into the "place images" boxes? Thanks for your help with this, Carollyne
  12. On iPad, in Affinity Photo (AP), I try to import from Photos. That works fine, but the browsing is difficult due to two issues: 1) When opening the import dialog, I see my photos folders. However, they appear unordered, see the enclosed image which is part of the dialog within AP. The folders go like 2007-01-07 2015-07-26, 2013-08-17, 2014-06-28, 2006-11-11-b, etc. I have hundreds of those. Is there a way of sorting them correctly after name? (And hence after date). 2) When selecting a folder, I see the images, but only as small icons about 3x3 cm. Any attempt to view the actual image, results in it being imported. Is there a way to preview the images without opening/importing them? For example like the standard photo browser in the iPad Photos app? Regards, Hans
  13. Good day all, I just downloaded Affinity Photo for Mac OS. All the extensions are available and work in the drop down within Photos app EXCEPT the option to open in the Affinity Photo main App (not extension). I get dialog that says 'Affinity photo cannot be launched, please press cancel' Anyone else experience this and have a fix? Thank you. Mugs
  14. Hello, Since the application Photos, I imported the photo but it is reversed (see picture 1 and 2). There is a bug problem. Thank you. Best regards.
  15. Hi, 1. Create multiple picture frames. 2. Select all the picture frames. 3. Place a single photo (same photo) in all the frames. The photo in the first picture frame is in the right proportion, whereas the same photo in the other frames is distorted. Regards, Vijay
  16. Import from ICloud or Open from iCloud doesn’t recognize my photos in iCloud. Says I have zero items. Apple tech said its the App not them. Please help. I’ve spent so many hours trying to fix, spent time with super yappy tech person at Apple all to find out, that their end checks out, but yours doesn’t.
  17. As Adobe has decided to make the import screen in Lightroom suitable for Instagram users, I have concerns wether Lightroom should be replaced in the future. Adobe makes this concerns even bigger by publishing buggy apps too early which ruin lives of professionals. Last year, Serif came out with this Affinity-suite and I have high hopes that they will release a Lightroom alternative. I am serious about that, since Capture One, well, does not work for me. But if you do, make sure that people can transfer 100k photos with any adjustments non-destructively. I don't know if you have plans for this, or if you have resources for this. But if you have, well, I would be the first to buy. Adobe is going for Instagram users with all their iOS-photoshop-mix-fix crap, which is not what professionals want. I know that one day, I will enjoy Affinity Designer on my iPad without compromises. And I hope you guys could rescue the professional photography business. I know this post has not the right spot in the forum, since everything is about Designer or Photo. But I just want to post this to see wether this could be the future of photography. Any name suggestions for a Lightroom alternative?
  18. Does anyone know of a tutorial describing the use of Affinity Photo as an extension in Apple’s Photos? I’ve tried to use Affinity Photo to edit my photos in Photos and I have a few questions. 1. Do I have a to save a copy of the edits I apply in AP as an AP document before the edits are applied and returned to Photos? 2. If I edit a RAW file, what type of file is returned to Photos? Is it a JPG? TIFF? I’m trying to incorporate Affinity Photo into my workflow using Photos and I’m trying avoid saving many different copies/versions of an image. Thanks. Ed
  19. This Easter I took advantage of free weekend access to Ancestry's website. After a lot of digging and cross referencing I finally found the evidence that Dad's mum's uncle was a Labour MP called Davie Logan, 1871-1964. I was told this about 10 years ago by her sister, but it was her son, my dad's cousin who posted this fact on a forum. It turns out that he was the leader Liverpool Labour Party and had a tower block named after him in his local area (Vauxhall Liverpool 5, otherwise known as Scotland/Scottie rd). This tower block has since been demolished. Housing in this part of the world, seems to either be a 100 years old or demolished after 30 years. I was born in 1970, so I never got to see either so I did some sleuthing and put the photos together, this way you can see how things have changed over the years. Just wondering, is there a better way of doing this in AD, as I haven't got APh? Logan towers then and now.pdf
  20. I use Photos on Mac with Affinity as plug in. I want to lighten an area with Affinity because its not possible with Photos. How to do it? I tried with Affinity Retouch but I was only able to select an area but not to lighten it.
  21. So I’ve been having problems trying to export my files. When it gives me the options of where to save the file, it doesn’t give me the full menu breakdown and when I do select one of the few brief options the jpeg file isn’t anywhere to be found. I’ve attached images displaying my issue and any help or explanation would really be appreciated
  22. Photographs and images from around Northern Ireland at our website https://www.niphotos.com enjoy !!
  23. Hey everyone, I'm continuing to enjoy the many versatile tools Affinity has to offer. I recently got into portraits and am using light strings in many of my photos. I've been editing pictures of a model's face or hand surrounded by bluish light strings. I am a Mac user. Today I noticed that the default image that Photos makes has been appearing superior when it comes to how it displays my lights. I find that the radiance from the lights are much more subtle and nuanced than anything I can do in Affinity. I even tried to recreate the same photo via Affinity but couldn't find that softness that Photos was producing just in its default. I am working with RAW files. Below are attached 2 images. It's a close up of one of the lights. The first is in Affinity and the second Photos. I also attached two images showing the model and the lights around her. I can't for the life of me figure out how to get Affinity to look the same. While it does display more colours and it seems there is a hardness to it that separates the little circular shapes in the light vs. blending them together naturally.
  24. Hi, Does anyone know if you can open multiple photos into affinity photos as layers in a single document like you can do from Lightroom to photoshop? Cheers, Jason
  25. I want to import a picture from photos on ipad into Affinity to experiment with. Apart from getting a blank import screen nothing else happens when I press the import from photos button. I assumed it would sync with my photos app. I am not finding Affinity particularly intuitive. I would like to get started on my own project rather than just play with tutorials. When will A book for iPad be available? I have bought the tome that applies to Mac thinking it might be of some use with ipad. Workflow is signficantly different as not to be useful with ipad, unfortunately. Advice would be appreciated.
