  1. Hello, This morning I upgraded my MBPretina (Mid 2012) to the official release version of El Capitan and now bot Affinity Photo and Designer stopped both working. When I try to boot them I get this message: What I tried so far: • Reinstalling both Photo and Designer from the MAS • Resetting the apps by CTRL-click-opening them and resetting all userdata It seems that this is not a common problem since I seem to be the only one with this problem. Any tips or ideas how I can solve this? I'll be glad to give you more info if needed. Thanks, Willem
  2. One thing that prevents me from ditching Photoshop entirely is the ability to create and manipulate 3D layers. I know you are trying to keep things simple, but if you could implement it somehow, it would encourage a lot of people to ditch Photoshop.
  3. Hi all, Check out this brand new tutorial where I show you how in less than 30 mins you can go from creating and designing a website in Affinity Designer to Prototype for your client. https://youtu.be/z2z9G5KQfaw Allan.
  4. Hi I'm a Dane trying out affinity. My problem is: our keyboards look different from the US keyboard (see attachment). We have three additional letters. I have found US shortcuts list and most of them works perfectly. BUT the increase/decrease brush size doesn't work as our three additional letters is placed where the shortcut should be. Is there another shortcut I can use? Or can I make my own shortcut? //Søren Bjerg
  5. I have an image of a product in Affinity Photo. In Affinity Designer I have a product label, where each layer of the file is a different variation of the product. I have used the Place feature in Photo to embed the Designer file and skew it to look like it's on the product itself. When I switch layers (one of 8 will be visible, the others are all unchecked) in the Designer program and save, it does not update the image in the Affinity file. Am I missing a step or does this function not work like I believe it does? Thanks!
  6. Provide more pressure sensitivity options, for example, allow user to choose pressure sensitivity to control opacity, flow, hardness, in addition to size. Edit: Just found the brush dynamics panel which addresses most of this, the only thing I still see as missing is the opacity control.
  7. Hi friends, Can anyone tell if is there a reason why exporting a jpg image created with AP, should lower the resolution almost to a third of the original resolution I had worked with it in AP. ? I mean like a 25 Mgb to 15 Mgb. Odd..... Not my wish anyway, I simply wished it to put on my name as. usual and I do it in Photoshop. (simply a routine). I really needed to kower down a bit that image for in some art sites they do let you post inages with more than an amount of pixles. This....happened just accidentaly. I wonder...mostly when I do a composite I use 300 pixels of resolution....or it seems to appear that one by defect, Do not know. Then I try to lower down, Have not done any teating with AP images . Will see if something more would happen then, like changing te size when you change the reso lution rate. Thanks a lot. Rosa
  8. How can I make invert color for photo ? In Photoshop , we can done in Image > Adjustment > Invert . However, I couldn't find function like this in Affinity Photo
  9. Hey there, first of all I would like to compliment the Affinity team for such a fantastic work on the user interface of both of the apps. They're really beautiful and feel really native and modern. A lot of little details make them a joy to work with. I have one question though, and it's related to the one thing that has bothered me a bit: I have a Retina MBP, and on both Affinity Photo and Designer, as I'm painting, moving objects around or typing, I get these "pixelated"/non-retina visuals that stay on for like half a second, before the normal "retina" graphics come back. My understanding is that this is some sort of optimization to make the interface more responsive and real time as you edit the document. Is that correct? If so, is it possible to disable this optimization entirely? I found it to be really distracting, and I'd rather have the document update be a little slower than have the whole viewport switch between retina/non-retina graphics constantly. Note: I'm currently on El Capitan Beta, so I had to install the Affinity Photo and Designer Betas. This could also be an issue with the betas/something that is not on the release versions... In that case should I report a bug? I can provide a screen capture if you can't reproduce this issue. Thanks.
  10. Okay so after much googling I cannot for the life of me locate the context menu. I want to convert a path to a selection. This is a little frustrating. I've attached a screen cap of my workspace. I think its the menu that comes up in the top giving contextual information about the tool I currently have selected. Bu I cannot find a convert to selection option in it for the pen tool. Is it somewhere else, or do I need to covert the path to curves? UPDATE: Okay so I found it, if you have the node selection tool active it doesn't so up. But if you have the pen tool it is visible.
  11. I am making a design in Photo, and using the Persepctive tool for text. However right after clicking on it, the text goes blury, and now says pixels by the layer name. When i export its no longer blury... But how do i get it to appear as it would when i am just working on it?
  12. I can't figure out why the Vignette filter (live) is actually not doing anything at some photos. Here is an example where just nothing happens when i fiddle around with the sliders. In another photo the vignette filter is working just fine. What am i possibly overlooking here?
  13. I'm hoping I'll have more luck with this question regarding Affinity Photo. Has anyone tried refining a selection after you've added a B&W layer to your photo? Looks like the red overlay becomes B&W too and to my eyes it's hard to tell where the mask begins and ends. I try to disable the B&W layer, but then the mask disappears. I have to exit refine selection and click again on Refine on the top toolbar and then I get my red overlay back. To the developers - 1. Was this the intended behaviour - at least the part where overlay also becomes B&W? 2. Are you able to recreate the disappearing overlay issue when you switch off the B&W layer? This surely must be a bug.
  14. Hi everyone, I have been self publishing my first book, it is an origami tutorial ebook, everything goes well but recently both the Affinity Photo Beta and Affinity Designer Trial I using to process the photo diagram and designing the book have been expired, I want to continue my work with both apps but I can't afford to buy them. I tried to use other free open sources but their difficult interface and poor performance plus I have to relearn everything in this short time really didn't work for me! I have made a fundraiser page to collect donation to buy those apps. total $100 is needed, 5 dollar or 1 dollar per person will helped me a lot to get my goal. I will get my application result to university soon and later will start my university life if the application success. After that, I will have no time to make it. So, I hope I can get helped as soon as possible. Thanks and appreciated! 15. I am using both Designer and Photo on my MacBook Pro. I am wondering if owners of the software can install them on more than one computer? Essentially to use as a backup when out of the office and on the road. I also have a MacMini mid-2010. I would be using it either on one or the other computer, but not at the same time. Thanks in advance. Scott Hughes
  16. Is it possible to have this shortcut/function? I found it more easy to navigate and zoom in and out, rather than cmd/+ cmd/-.
  17. How can I save a file from affinity photo to jpg (300 dpi). Right now when I am export to jpg, the dpi is 96.
  18. Something I use in the other app a lot is to do a screen capture to clipboard, then when I type Command-N the new document window opens with the size of my capture as the default (based on the clipboard). Then I just paste the capture into the new document. See attached as an example.
  19. I have created a paperback book cover in Affinity Photo, and now I want to export it as PDF to send it to the printer. I cannot figure out how to export a PDF that looks anything like what I see in Affinity Photo. (Nor can I export anything that looks right in any other format, for that matter.) Here is a screenshot of what the cover looks like in the Export Persona: Here is what the PDF (for print) preset produces (I made no adjustments to the preset): donation-cover-paperback.pdf This export appears to include the one pixel layer from the document, with at least some of the adjustments applied to turn the bills from dollar-bill color to blue. I cannot explain the grainy waviness. I have some fill layers, which either do not appear in the PDF or appear as white. My document has a layer mask that fades the edges of the pixel layer into the background fill layer, but it does not appear to fade here. The text (in layers above the fills and pixel layers) does not appear at all. The original image is dollar-bill colored dollar bills, with a certain amount of focus blur, but otherwise no fuzziness. Here is what the TIFF RGB 8-bit preset produces (I made no adjustments to the preset): donation-cover-paperback.tiff This appears to be the adjusted image, but without the text, and without the layer mask that fades the edges of the image. Again the text is completely missing. JPEG export looks similar to TIFF. I get these results from the "page" predefined slice in the Export Persona, and from the File -> Export command. The only thing I've been able to do that seemed to work is to merge the document into a single layer, then export that as PDF. I'm not sure I want to rasterize the text (I have never sent the printer rasterized text before, and am unsure whether the results will be what I want). Any clues about where I'm going wrong?
  20. Affinity Designer shows great promise, so looking forward to trying the beta of Affinity Photo. Please have a plugin capability to Nik (Google), OnOne, and other photo plugs can be brought to Photo.
  21. Hello Affinity team, I cannot tell if this is by design or just an oversight in regards to Designer and Photo… I am unable to add any guides to the document while any tool is selected other than the black arrow move tool. While working and wanting to quickly throw in a guideline, I find it to be an interruption to have to switch a tool just to add a guide to a specific location, I feel like it should always be available to drag onto the canvas at (well, almost) anytime. If a tool other than the black arrow is selected, the ability to add guides does work using the guide manager as a workaround, however using the guide manager is not nearly as fluid and can be cumbersome compared to the natural maneuver of just dragging it in where you want it. Tested using latest builds as of July 25, 2015 Thank you
  22. Not sure if this is a bug, or if I'm misunderstanding something here, but I'm having an issue with blend modes and I was hoping someone could help me out. I have a gradient map nested in a photo (basically turning it black and white). The photo has a Multiply blend mode. Underneath, there is a blue solid layer. For some reason, this is turning out much darker than doing the same thing, just rasterizing the image and gradient map together (see attached images). The lighter version is how I expected it to turn out, but I'd rather not destruct my layers if I don't have to. Any idea why I'd be getting different outcomes here? Shouldn't the gradient map only be affecting the image since it's nested? Thanks!
  23. How can I use guides to aide my selection? In other words, essentially "magnetize" the rectangular selection tool to follow along the guides that I have already placed?
  24. Hey guys, I love Affinity Photo and Designer, but I can't afford them even the Affinity Photo are in sales now. I making my first book in my life, it is about Origami tutorial, I want to use Affinity Photo and Designer to make my book. Where can I still download the beta app? Or I hope you guys can support me by donating some fund for me so I can buy these apps for my book making( I will use affinity designer to make an app after my book!) https://life.indiegogo.com/fundraisers/help-chin-to-buy-apps-to-make-his-first-book/x/10397640 I'm 20 years old, started my venture early this year, but not enough fund to let me buy these apps, I hope you can support me so I can continue my venture! Thanks guy! Appreciated!
  25. Would it be possible to integrate additional scrubbers for stock websites: iStock Photo (http://istockphoto.com) Dollarphotoclub (https://www.dollarphotoclub.com)
