  1. Hi everyone, I'm new on Affinity Designer and I got a problem concerning the path type. ( I've already checked the instructions in the helped menu but that doesn't work for me ). I hope you'll understand me because I work on the french version so that the traduction of the tools may not be exact. Well here's my problem: First I create the curve that will define the curve of my text, then I use the text box tool and I click on the curve I've juste created in order to insert a text that follows the curve. The text insertion zone is in the rectangular zone that defines the curve but the text doesn't follow the curve !! The photo attached shows where my text insertion zone is and how my text appears when I try the make a path type Thank you so much if someone here can help me, I've tried everything and I'd be very grateful ! :) Antonin
  2. Hi there, I just wondering if there is a way to make a path and then transform it into a selection... Thanks, Reminous
  3. Hi, I am new (and impressed so far!). My first question is how can I write text on a curve. The promotional video on the home page shows it (at 0:27, writing "Authentic Quality Apparel Wear"). But i cannot figure out how and am reading it is roadmap feature. Could someone let me know the deal? Thanks!!
  4. Hi, I'm a new user who just downloaded the beta. I've searched and seen many posts in the forums from over the past year, requesting text-along-curve functionality, and then seeing posts that that it was added, and even comments about having trouble with it (e.g. https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/8070-text-on-curve-not-aligned/). I can't figure out how to do this at all -- I've tried drawing a circle, and then selecting Artistic Text Tool and putting it near the curve as I've read in various forum posts, but when I put the cursor near the circle nothing changes, and if I click and start typing text, it doesn't follow the curve of the circle, it's just regular straight text. What am I doing wrong? Thanks. I'm using Affinity Photo Beta 1.2.0.24665.
  5. This video will show you one solution to adding a text to a path in Affinity Designer. This is a temporary solution that will not work for everyone but might work for your particular situation. Click here to view the video on Youtube Don't forget to Subscribe. :)
  6. Hi folks, Sorry if it sounds like obvious, but actually, I've still not found any way to instantly select —all— external nodes (or the full external path) on the basic following example: Any idea? Thanks for the help.
  7. First of all: Affinity Designer is one of the best mac apps! I love it and I can't wait for Affinity Photo. Finally I can ditch bug-ridden Pixelmator. You might have already seen my review in the app store in which I listed a bunch of things that I think could be improved or added, but here I want to focus on just one. When you use a brush with size variance enabled you can control the width of the stroke while painting, but it seems like you cannot currently make changes "after the fact". What I hope to see is the ability to edit the stroke width at each node or point along the path, perhaps similar to the bezier handles. Side note: I think there should be a "Velocity (Inverse)" setting in the "Controller" drop-down menu for the vector brush tool options but it's missing. Thanks for stopping by!
  8. I have an object that is an S hand drawn and not text. The "S" is stylized and the bottom end wraps around crossing over itself: Where it crosses over itself it drops out the fill. How do I get it not to do this? the whole S needs to be blue.
  9. Discovered Affinity today, didn't blink, bought it and glad i did. I've been playing for a few hours and there's something I can't get my head around. How do you fit a line of text to a curve or path.
  10. Good Evening, First of all thank you for all the support on this forum. I really appreciate everything I have learned. My question is: How do I put and object's paths onto seperate layers? In Illustrator, there is a function called "Release to Layers" where it takes all the paths and puts each individual path on it's own layer. I have attached a picture of what I am talking about. I would like to do this but I am having trouble finding this answer. If anyone could help me, I would really appreciate it. Thank you.
  11. I would like to have the ability to type on a curved path and be able to make text designs like the one in the image I attached.
  12. Hi .. Is it possible to set a text to take path shape such as circle ? Regards
  13. Hi, one of most important tools in Illustrator is for me Divide option (from path filters). I allows me to cut intersecting lines (I have separate parts, where lines crossing). And most important thing, lines remains (don't close). I try Divide in AD and my lines close. Is it bug? If not, how can I cut intersecting paths without closing them? Best, Greg
  14. Freehand MX had the ability to increase or decrease the size of a path/object - will or does Affinity have this option? Very helpful tool I use often - thanks for the help.
