  1. Hello, there seems to be an issue with typography with type on curved paths. It is as if the program thinks the type takes up more space than it does. Selecting all the text gives an apparent se;ection much longer than the text actually is. Moving the cursor through the text with the arrow keys does not aliogn with the actual letters. Adjusting kerning between letters gives strange results, moving the letters to where the cursor seems to think they are. Difficult to explain. I have attached three screenshots that show (1) selection of a line of curved text (the top text is on a different path and different layer, only the bottom text is on the layer and path I'm working on); (2) cursor poitioned after the first letter (should be between the M and the E); (3) effect of a small increase of kerning (one click of the up arrow next to kern parameter in the character dialogue) between the M and the E. Thanks. Dean
  2. Hi, I am new (and impressed so far!). My first question is how can I write text on a curve. The promotional video on the home page shows it (at 0:27, writing "Authentic Quality Apparel Wear"). But i cannot figure out how and am reading it is roadmap feature. Could someone let me know the deal? Thanks!!
  3. This video will show you one solution to adding a text to a path in Affinity Designer. This is a temporary solution that will not work for everyone but might work for your particular situation. Click here to view the video on Youtube Don't forget to Subscribe. :)
  4. Hi folks, Sorry if it sounds like obvious, but actually, I've still not found any way to instantly select —all— external nodes (or the full external path) on the basic following example: Any idea? Thanks for the help.
  5. Please add path selection, thanks
  6. First of all: Affinity Designer is one of the best mac apps! I love it and I can't wait for Affinity Photo. Finally I can ditch bug-ridden Pixelmator. You might have already seen my review in the app store in which I listed a bunch of things that I think could be improved or added, but here I want to focus on just one. When you use a brush with size variance enabled you can control the width of the stroke while painting, but it seems like you cannot currently make changes "after the fact". What I hope to see is the ability to edit the stroke width at each node or point along the path, perhaps similar to the bezier handles. Side note: I think there should be a "Velocity (Inverse)" setting in the "Controller" drop-down menu for the vector brush tool options but it's missing. Thanks for stopping by!
  7. I have an object that is an S hand drawn and not text. The "S" is stylized and the bottom end wraps around crossing over itself: Where it crosses over itself it drops out the fill. How do I get it not to do this? the whole S needs to be blue.
  8. Discovered Affinity today, didn't blink, bought it and glad i did. I've been playing for a few hours and there's something I can't get my head around. How do you fit a line of text to a curve or path.
  9. Good Evening, First of all thank you for all the support on this forum. I really appreciate everything I have learned. My question is: How do I put and object's paths onto seperate layers? In Illustrator, there is a function called "Release to Layers" where it takes all the paths and puts each individual path on it's own layer. I have attached a picture of what I am talking about. I would like to do this but I am having trouble finding this answer. If anyone could help me, I would really appreciate it. Thank you.

    Type on a Path

I would like to have the ability to type on a curved path and be able to make text designs like the one in the image I attached.
  11. Hi .. Is it possible to set a text to take path shape such as circle ? Regards
  12. Hi, one of most important tools in Illustrator is for me Divide option (from path filters). I allows me to cut intersecting lines (I have separate parts, where lines crossing). And most important thing, lines remains (don't close). I try Divide in AD and my lines close. Is it bug? If not, how can I cut intersecting paths without closing them? Best, Greg
  13. Freehand MX had the ability to increase or decrease the size of a path/object - will or does Affinity have this option? Very helpful tool I use often - thanks for the help.
