  1. Hi! Is there a way to edit one letter in a text so it would change every time i use this letter again? For example, i have a word "Coffee". Can i adjust paths of fitst F and A so that the second ones would preserve the changes? ___ Is it okay to ask this things once in a while? I'm afraid that i post a lot
  2. Hello Affinity, With the help of @Old Bruce I managed to copy circles on a path, and align the circles using the text tool. It is not as user-friendly to modify the space of the circles using the characters tracking. It is like a sort of a hack way to aligning shapes to paths. I thought it would be nice to add a separate feature for aligning shapes on paths. Also add the pattern feature too, so we don't manually repeat patterns. I know I ask too much but you guys are awesome. Thank you, text-path-align.afdesign
  3. Hello world, Does anyone know how to align a these circles on a path or stroke ? Thank you
  4. Hello, When I draw a path that has a stroke that varies by pressure, "layer > expand stroke" defines an area smaller than the existing stroke. It looks like adding a stroke width to this new stroke can help as a workaround, but I wanted to make sure I wasn't missing anything. Thank you for the great product! affinityExpandStroke.mp4
  5. I'm a beginner and I have a question. As shown in the picture in the appendix, I try to make a pie chart with text in the pie slices. Each pie slice should have two-line text. And of course I would like every text right in the middle of the pair. Both horizontally and vertically. I think I have to make a new circle path for every line of text and I don't know how to calibrate the middle. Perhaps there is a way to do this more practically and efficiently. Can anyone help me with this please? thank you in advance
  6. Export Persona configure common path is not working. Running Designer app on Windows 10. I type or copy & paste the path into the "Path:" field, but when I export the slice/slices all it does is create folders for the given path locations and saves the JPG slices in the last designated folder location. Shouldn't the app be locating the existing directory path, NOT recreating folders (highlighted in red) for the path entered in the "Path:" field? I noticed in "Path:" field the colon after C (C:\...) does not show up in the path name (C\...) when typed or copy & pasted in. Could that have something to do with it? See attached screen shots. Best, Carl
  7. Hey folks, I'm just wondering what' the difference between the two options in the Layer → Geometry menu. At first glance they both seem to have the same function – maybe someone can enlighten me? 💡 Cheers and … wash your hands MrDoodlezz 😄
  8. Hey folks, So i've run into an odd bug/feature that i can't find any answers to. Essentially a grouping of paths with the stroke centered on the path looks as desires, but when i group it the group bounds size to the path and not the visible stroke. I realize a workaround would be to have the outer shape have an inner stroke, but i'm hoping to get a better fix. Below is a before and after grouping picture on the paths in question: Before grouping Before grouping with bounding boxes shown After grouping With bounding box shown You can see that the group bounding box fits to the path and not the stroke and hides the overflowing stroke as a result. Additionally, this only happens when grouping them all together, the corner shapes are grouped and do not show this effect. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance, Linc.
  9. Hi, i have some problem, and probably im not the only one. When im try to merge two paths or subtract one path from another path, happens some kind chaos. It all started in version 1.8, in 1.7 everything was fine. I am very worried that I will have to rollback, because the new version has a photo bank, good work of extended stroke and other features. Help me or fix it, please🙏 The video shows the problem. Sorry for my english, im from Russia ☺️
  10. Hi, I found a problem connecting the paths. In version 1.7.3.481 I mark the two ends of the path and click join curves and I get a connection. In beta version 1.8.0.555 by clicking join - connect opposite ends! This is a problem with the direction (interpretation or description of the path in the given version). The same paths pasted to version 17 connect opposite pins. And those copied from 17 and pasted to 18 connect correctly! Robert
  11. Hello, I ran into a real workflow problem and googling around for hours hasn't brought up any solution. I want to select only a part of the paths an object contains. Not all of them. It seems so basic but I am desperate and can't figure it out. My workflow in illustrator ist: draw with the blobbrush, delete the inner Path and am left with a shape. // In Affinity Designer I can draw and convert my strokes to shapes and join them instead of the blobbrush. With complex shapes I always seem to be able to only select parts point by point or by drawing a complex lasso-selection. Both are not a solution since I can end up with too many points to select that way. Thanks for any help! Here's an image to help clear it up more:
  12. Hello. I am working on a large file which contains many shapes which share their borders. Only the outline will be printed (there is no fill to any of the shapes). It is very important that two shapes sharing path overlap precisely otherwise printed stroke will not have the same thickness/shape. How can I shape the path of two elements at the same time (so the path stays overlapping)? I know I could break the path of one shape, remove overlapping piece and only modify the remaining path of the second shape. This however takes many steps to accomplish (not a problem for a small piece but could take ages with large files; imagine jigsaw puzzles cut pattern"). How can I somehow "glue" both shapes and modify mutual path with simple drag method typical for single paths? Thank you in advance for your help! Best regards, Marcin
  13. Hello, Become crazy about tempting moving text above or below a path… The default text setting along path working fine but if you move the cursor to change the starting point or the text above the path, the first letter just jump at the beginning of the path… Please see png attached for more explanation and original file too. Best, Affinity Designer 1.7.3 / MacOSX 10.11.6 with MacPro 3,1 (I will try later on Mojave on another Mac) Affinity_Designer_Text_along_path_bug.afdesign
  14. Hello, My wife and I are new to Affinity Designer, so please bear with me as I certainly haven't learned the "correct" terminology, or the names of the menu items, their locations or their options! Some background: We are attempting to take my wife's pencil and paper drawings and convert them into closed-shapes in Fusion 360 (an Autodesk CAD program). Those shapes will then be extruded into bodies and used to "engrave" or develop 3D models that can be either 3D printed or more recently CNC carved into wood. We purchased Designer, because it can export into SVG, which Fusion will accept (but not always very elegantly!). We've done some test drawings, and if I draw with the pencil, pen or ellipse tool, I only get a single line in the SVG when imported into Fusion (what I would call a pure path, and NOT a stroke--but that may be terminology from other programs). After several experiments, it appears that the best workflow is to scan the paper image into PNG, do a bit of cleanup/brightness/contrast modification in a photo editor, and then bring the resulting cleaner PNG into Designer as a reference layer. We then tried tracing out the main features from the drawing using an Apple Pencil on an iPad Pro, and can only get reasonbly good results using the pencil or the pen. Unfortunately, when these are imported into fusion, they can't be extruded or used as cut bodies, as they are a single line, and not a closed path-as-if-it were a line. (I hope that makes some sense!). I'd really like to find a clean workflow that isn't too time consuming. My wife is a traditional fine artist, so working on the iPad for her is a challenge. I'm an engineer and certainly no artist! Is there an easy way to convert the pencil/pen paths into brush strokes on iPad? I saw that a similar question to this was answsered on the Windows forum, but it's solution doesn't seem to work on iPad. I've tried a LOT of different software packages to make this a reasonable process, but haven't found one yet (I don't have Adobe Illustrator, which might be a way, but I was hoping Designer would be a better solution)--things I've played with: Photoshop, Inkscape, various environments in Fusion 360. I'd even take a completely better workflow if someone has already solved this in a different way. Thanks! -- Phil
  15. When you select a path with a vector brush already applied, the Brushes Panel should show which brush that is. Right now it's impossible to know for sure which brush have you applied to a path once you deselect it. If you look at the attached image the applied brush is clearly not the brush shown in the Panel. When you select the path the Panel should automatically select the correct brush (which is a few brushes up in this particular case). I'm requesting this under the desktop section of feedback, but this same request is equally valid for the iPad. Thanks!
  16. I cant apply to a path any stroke width, nor change brush shape nor change stroke colour. I can only apply fill colour. Similar situation is when I try to change stoke width and colour to the artistic text or defined shapes like rectangles or ellipses. I found that this problem disappears when I apply no colour to a stroke, and then I can apply any stroke width, brush and colour.
  17. Hi, can AD or AP (Desktop)convert the selection brush marquee tool to a path or curve. In the image below I have used that tool and have the marquee but Convert To Curve is greyed out in the right mouse option box. I can do this in Fireworks 8 quick and easily. Thanks for any help.
  18. Hi, I am creating the letter F by connecting the two nodes in the red circle to create a single path that I want to expand from a stroke to a shape and export to FontForge. After trying everything on the list below, ‘join’ continues to connect the two other end nodes in the green circle that I don’t want to connect. Things I have tried: Select both nodes in the red circle and ‘join’ and 'close' Select both nodes in the red circle hold shift and drag until both nodes turn yellow Enable ‘snap to selected nodes’ then select both nodes in the red circle and ‘join’ ‘Join’ both nodes in the green circle, select again and ‘break’
  19. I've just bought Affinity Designer on my iPad (2018, 6th generation) and I'm really impressed. I Only have a bit problem with the pen tool: when I put nodes, I can't place them close to each other. I always need to magnify the picture when I would like to path small details. (I use Apple Pencil). What should I do? Maybe that is why I'm newbie to Affinity Designer. (Vectornator doesn't produce this issue, I can put nodes very close in this app) Thank You for helping me! Andras
  20. Hi, I’m trying to create a gradient that is curved or warped. I’m not sure if this is possible. Any help would be appreciated
  21. Delete and backspace do not work when editing text on a curve. You have to drag select the area you want to edit and delete it or replace it with the correction.
  22. Is it possible to have Text On Path in Affinity Photo? I know it's possible in Affinity Designer but I can't seem to do it in Affinity Photo. I tried creating a Path with the Pen Tool and then using the Artistic Text Tool and typing but can't get it to follow the path.
  23. How can I turn my curve into a selection so that I can continue working with it? Or is this function not yet available?
  24. Hi. Affinity designer is great! Very PRO. But i miss some features about editing path. (iPad version) cutting path between nodes. eraser for path snapping points (nodes) to path (the segments between nodes) snapping nodes to different path I think this features are there anywhere. But i can´t find it. There are two killer-features i need for my workflow (for my private wishlist): 1) Astude graphics / DynamicSketch Itś an AI Plugin. There is a funktion to delete overlapping path by removing intuitivly by holding shift and paint over the unwonted Segment. 2) AI on board feature: interactive painting This tool make it possible to fill gaps surrounded by two or more path. The funktion generates seperate and closed shapes just by draging color swatches in the spare inclosed by different path. Maybe AD has this features onboard. The AD desktop Version? Thanks for Support. best regards. MMMax
  25. Hi, I was wondering if it was possible when creating a path and then attaching a Text on this path to retrieve the original path. I can't seem to find a way to do it. This is really weird and frustrating. Many thanks. Nicolas
