  1. My first attempt at star photography. Not a very good night for it but at least I got something to experiment with. Any idea why the top of my panorama gets stretched out like this? Is this normal? There are two rows of shots, but even if I just take the top row it stretches out the same. Full frame camera with 24 mm lens on a nodal ninja tripod bracket in portrait orientation.
  2. The panorama merge function is one of my most beloved tool in Affinity Photo and I use it regularly to stitch together all kinds of photos. However, the source brush still needs some improving. The precision is rather poor at times. It will produce a line sometimes 60 or more pixels away from the brush stroke rendering the whole idea of a manual selection irrelevant. Also, it's unreliable in it's selection, too. Changing the source at say the top left corner of one image makes the whole panorama rerender, causing to delete / overwrite previous brush strokes. In general, I feel like the tool ought to "listen" more precisely to the user's input. Maybe adding the option to define lines in the panorama it should stick to (e.g. roads, rivers, horizon, etc.) would be a helpful addition, too. It's just such a pain to be working on that huge panorama for hours, seeing all your changes reverted or deleted every few moments. Also, adding the option to go back to panorama source selection might be an interesting idea. I'd rather have a 3gb work-in-progress file for a day than to render the panorama thrice and redo everything again.
  3. Has anyone got any advice on night time panorama stiching. I have a sequence of 10 shots, each of a 1 sec exp, yet the programme will only seem to use the middle section photos - and discard the outer ones? The mid section photos being lite by lights more than the outer edges. Is it just a case that the programme will only work with images that are bright across the image front?
  4. Hi Affinity Photo and all the users! I love to make big panoramas. The function ”New panorama” works like magic :-) However, when I uses RAW files I wish Affinity could create a big panorama in the RAW format. Instead, in the process then it create a panorama its also apply a tone curve to the new panorama. Its like having an jpg images in front of me. I can´t recover any details in the hi lights and shadows for exempel. That is not professional! I have tried to use ”assistant option” : change tone curve ”take no action” and exposure ”take no action”. And when tried to make a panorama. But that does not work. I don’t get a panorama in raw… Is it possible to create a panorama in RAW? How? If not. I really wish that it will improve for the future Affinty photo 1.6! Best regards from Peter in Sweden. (Thanks for all the video tutorials. They have been very helpful. But not for this specific problem.)
  5. I would like to stack several images together but still have complete access to the underlying layers. I'm taking close up photos of flowers in the field, using several images to produce one composite that is acceptably sharp throughout despite the handicaps of having a moving subject. I take a series of close ups of the different parts of a flower and then stitch them together. I've tried using the Stack option but the image that is produced is often missing part of my information since the images do not line up one in front of the other and the resulting image has a non-standard aspect ratio. I've also tried using the Panorama option but here, I cannot find a way to access the layers and their layer masks individually. I've seen the brushes that allow you to paint in a mask, but find them extremely difficult to use since a good part of each image is hidden behind another. Since the flowers move as I'm often having to do this outdoors in windy conditions, Focus Merge yields too many ghosts. Any ideas? I would like to have a stack or panorama of images which shows the all the image information that I have and also the underlying layers. I can do this is PS photomerge if I uncheck the option to merge the images together. How could I accomplish this in Affinity? Thanks!
  6. Hello everyone, I couldn't find any hint in the manual, nor tutorials online, nor a thread regarding my issue. So, I would like to ask you. I really like the panorama feature of AP and am impressed by the results. Also projecting 360 imagery in equirectangular projection works perfectly well. The only thing I haven't figured out is how to stitch my photos to a 360 degree sphere. I have all the photos I need, the stitching works out alright, but then AP seems to interpret the overlap as a continuation on one of the sides. Therefore, I've tried to adjust them manually in order to align them. But as soon as I use equirectangular projection AP renders a sometimes bigger, sometimes smaller gap between the two edges of the photo. Does anyone know how to close the gap? Cheers, Philipp
  7. I often create panoramas with Affinity photo. I'm using the raw files as input and export these afterwards as either tiff, or jpg. I'd like the export dialog propose an auto generated filename like e.g. [first filename of pano]-[last filename of pano].extension instead of nothing. Right now I alwas have to remember the original filenames or have another explorer open to look these up.
  8. I found video tutorials for creating the Panorama images. However, when I tried the technique in Affinity Photo, I could not find the "crop to opaque" option. Where do I find this - is it not available in Affinity Photo for windows
  9. Is it possible to create with Affinity, 2D panoramas?; e.g. a panorama from 3X3 matrix of photos. If yes then how? Thanks
  10. Hi! I work with 360 photos and I love your live equirectangular projection editing feature, but the maximum FOV is very limiting. The feature could come in handy to fix nadirs and zeniths, but the 90 degree FOV is just too low. Coupled with the 2:1 aspect ratio, it becomes next too useless for the intended purpose. I have to edit nadir and zenith in 360 photos very often, but had to revert back to the cumbersome procedure of exporting a rectilinear crop, editing and then converting back to equirectangular again. So, a few things would help: make to FOV grater than 90 allow changing canvas aspect ratio to 1:1 Would changing the FOV limit be possible through preferences or registry editing? Best regards, Robert
  11. Affinity Photo for iPad does a really good job stitching panoramas from sequences taken with my iPad, although the process is extremely awkward when using the camera within Photo itself. What frustrates me is that the panorama feature cannot handle full frame fisheyes taken with another camera, to make spherical 360 photospheres. I’ve imported sets from a Hero 6 Black and from a Sony Alpha 6000 with full frame fisheye, and the panorama functionality makes a mess of them. It doesn’t have the capability to re-project a fisheye to equirectangular prior to stitching. I think the panorama feature is using the SIFT algorithm to get really good feature matches from standard photos, which streamlines the stitching. For desktop and Mac, AutoPanoGiga uses this, also. There is nothing for the iPad (or any iOS device) that will fit full frame fisheye images (or any other lens) to stitch spherical 360 views. Affinity Photo should fill this gap, and it should be able to stay in RAW to make them so further processing in Photo can refine the image.
  12. So i've taken quite a few pictures with my camera ready to be stitched into nice panoramas. Except, I cannot drag and drop the files from windows explorer into the New Panorama window of AP. Have I missed a setting or is this simply not possible? It's a bit tedious to search through thousands of photos to find the series i want to stitch. Any Ideas?
  13. New Photo user. I shot a panorama using my iPhone 8 the other day, brought the JPG into Photo to enhance and notice thin vertical lines in areas of consistent color - such as sky. Perhaps due to the phone stitching many images? Is there any way to eliminate these? How? Thanks for a great editor. The more I use it and view the tutorials the more I am impressed by its capabilities.
  14. hi together, is there a way to create a logo, which can be added to a 360 degree panorama (for e. g. to be used within facebook), within affinity photo ipad version? i have seen some tutorialqs for photoshop but i am wondering how create such logos with affinity photo on the ipad. thanks in advance for your answers.
  15. I've been trying out Affinity Photo's HDR merge couple of times with 360x180 panoramas. Today I had problems when composing an indoor photosphere. One of the images had a window and incoming sun rays. After HDR stacking the image lightning and contrast was different than with the rest of the images. I used full manual settings in the camera and the same Affinity HDR preset for all the images. It looks like that HDR merging has a dynamic nature and the results vary depending on the lightning and contrast of the scene. Is this correct? Is there a way to set "static" or "manual" behavior for HDR, so that the end result is the same compared to other HDR stacks? This is quite new area to me, so I may be asking stupid questions here, or doing things wrong way. If you have any tips or experience on the HDR panorama workflow, please let me know. I'm using Hugin for stitching the photosphere together.
  16. When using RAW images as a source for HDR, Panorama, Focus Merging, it shoud be possible to adjust the settings of Develop Persona. Currently the photos are imported without being able to do this. Please also refer to the threads above.
  17. Hi All, I recently got Affinity Photo to stitch some panoramas I've shot and I'm starting to get frustrated. I shoot 360 tours so I'm always on the lookout for new photo stitching software, but I'm not exactly ecstatic about the results. When I upload a folder of about 82 photos and hit stitch all I get is a light blue rectangle with just a little bit of one photo in the middle. All the photos have sufficient overlap, probably about 80%. The photos were shot in brackets, but I converted them to singular HDR photos. Is there a solution to this problem. I was thinking maybe some way to force all photos to be in one panorama, like Autopano. I was pretty excited to use AP, not going to lie. The features like roll correction and autofill are pretty amazing, I just hope I can connect the photos so I can use those features. Any help would be appreciated.
  18. Hi, I mocked up a few ideas that I think would improve the functionality of the Photo merge tools by making it easier to switch between them and add images directly. Say you drag a few images into one of Photo's merging tools, only to realize you opened the wrong one. The commands are grouped in the menu, two have keyboard shortcuts right next to one another, and the tools have similar layouts, making this a fairly easy mistake to make. Rather than having to hit Cancel, open the intended merge tool, then relocate the images you want to merge, what if you could just switch to it, with the images you added still in place? The functionality of the Batch tool seems different enough to warrant it remaining separate. To keep the various merging options visible to the user, it might be best to keep their individual items in the File menu. Each would just open the unified interface to the appropriate tool. It would be great to be able to drag-and-drop directly to the Images pane rather than having to open the file picker, then drop to it, then click OK. The visual styling of the window widgets is a bit confusing; the brighter widgets are disabled. This is contrary to most GUI conventions, including how the OK button is disabled in the tools themselves. If the Panorama tool isn’t resizable because the panorama previews would have to be re-rendered (a processor-intensive task), just fix the width of the preview pane while allowing the Images pane to expand. There is some ambiguity in the Panorama tool when you have stitched multiple panoramas together. If you don't explicitly select all of them in the preview pane before you hit OK, only the last selected one will build. A different button label or counter tallying how many panoramas will be rendered (Render 2 Panoramas) might be sufficient. NTH: a way to tell which images constitute which panorama after the panorama preview is generated. This could look something like the mockup below. Ideally, the number displays next to the panorama preview would handle discontiguous stitches nicely, so if you used three of 4 images out of sequence, something like “1 – 2, 4” would appear next to the thumbnail. 19. i have a ioptron ipano pro and im primarily looking to use affinity for panorama stitching. A single panorama can contain 100 ~ 1200 images depending on the settings i use. thanks and have a wonderful day
  20. When stitching 32-bit HDR panorama from previously HDR merged OpenEXR source the panorama "persona" in Photo 1.6.6 does not offer the 32-bit preview panel, this can impede identification of stitching artefacts
  21. When selecting images to use in a panorama, the selection of the necessary images is based on a grid of square (rather than rectangular) thumbnails, making it difficult to select the correct images for the panorama. It would make more sense to show thumbnails that show a/ the full image from edge to edge and b/ in the correct orientation of portrait or landscape. cheers Chris
  22. Hi! I made a 360° panorama with Affinity. And it worked really well. But I would like to set a new middle for the panorama. How is this possible? I already tried to change the time in the exif and xmp-data to get a new order for the solo pictures. It does not work. How Affinity Photo set the start of a 360° panorama? Best regards Alexander
  23. Hi, yesterday I shot a panorama of a sunset and decided to try and use affinity photo to stitch it together. After uploading the images, this is what I got: Is there something I am doing wrong or is it just a bad panorama? Thanks, Jayvin.
  24. When the panorama dialog is open you can't select open images behind it. This is frustrating as it causes 'dead time' where you can't do anything — it would be nice to be able to stitch a panorama in the background while editing files.
  25. When I click 'Stitch Panorama' in the Panorama dialog, there is often a wait of ~1 minute per panorama for the stitching to complete (working with large TIFF files). A progress bar would be helpful here so that the user knows the program is making progress. There is sometimes a spinning progress wheel in the centre of the panorama dialog when stitching panoramas, but it doesn't always appear — this may be a bug.
