  1. Hi there! I use a dual screen setup (Win 10 - 20H2, Auros RX5700XT graphics card, latest drivers as of 5.12.2020) and decided to move some panels to the second screen. Among them is the textstyle panel. While changing the size of any panel works fine on the second screen, any relevant change of the textstyle panel freezes the app. No crash report, no error message. Here is my recipe: Create a new document of any size and format or load an existing one. Drag some panels out of the apps main window and place them on the second screen. Adjust the size of any of them, e.g. the pages panel - everything works fine. Resize the textstyle panel in height by clickdraging the bottom of the panel downwards - boom! App freezes. By the way: Designer is affected, too. With Designer it is even worse: Sometimes just clicking on the title of the panel causes Designer to crash. And in both cases it is only the textstyle panel that causes the freeze (at least in my case). Is that a know problem or just limited to my pc? Best, Volker
  2. When making changes to the input values in the character and paragraph studios, I would be nice they would behave like other input values and update/display the changes live in realtime. As is the case with color panel and guides manager, etc. It is as if when using the arrow keys to change character and paragraph related values, the input field "loose its selection". Where if you do the same thing with other input fields, the active input keeps the selection and therefore changes the value... Sorry for the bad terminology around selection and active input values, I don't know the exact term. Any for clarity I've attached a short video. 17_36.38-1.mov
  3. It would be really helpful if it was possible to adjust font size, leading and tracking etc. using the up arrow and down arrow on the keyboard.
  4. Create a new blank document View > Studio > Table (this works as expected, producing a floating panel - see step 1 below) View > Studio > Table Formats (this groups the Formats panel with the previous floating Table panel, see step 2 below) View > Studio > Table Formats (to remove/hide the formats panel: this doesn't restore the height of the remaining panel and the top is clipped - see step 3 below) For a more dramatic effect, substitute the smaller Anchors panel for the Table Formats panel to produce the result shown below at step 4. The full height of the remaining panel can be restored by finding the sweet spot at the top and dragging the edge up - but that can be fiddly (at least, it's fiddly on a 4K screen, since the sweet spot is very narrow).
  5. Scrolling up and down in some of Affinity Panels is a great feature. It does not appear to work in the Character, Paragraph, etc panels. Am I missing something or is this something you are working on? I get so used to using it where I can that I must back up for a moment when in the non-scrolling panels and realize that I must pull down the side bar.
  6. Hello, I am a designer YouTuber from Indonesia, I want to ask about how to mention the tools in Right Studio. For example, color is it called "Color Studio" or "Panel Color"?, or another example in the stroke tool is it called "Stroke Studio" or "Panel Stroke"? or maybe there are other names that are more appropriate. Best Regards, Sudarmin damir
  7. I posted this in the general forum on questions but thought that perhaps it belongs here as a request. - - - PROBLEM: Two tiny spaces remain at the top left of a group of multiple panels, the group being kept narrow on the side of my screen. The very top left space closes the group, and the other allows me to move (reposition) the group. Unless I am very careful I often miss the "move" the panel and hit the "close: space," thereby force me to reconstruct it via VIEW. This stops work flow and is frustrating. See my snap below. I want to keep such groups narrow in order to have more screen space for the document. SUGGESTED SOLUTION: This problem could be solved if Affinity's programs were to have a preference that would allow the user to opt for an on-screen warning to be issued (with a "yes" or "no" choice) if the user accidentally clicked on the "close" space rather than the 'move" space. It would save a lot of time, both in carefully placing the cursor in the exact position between closing and moving before clicking, and in reconstructing the groups panels if a slight wrong positioning accidentally closes rather than in the small space for moving the group.
  8. I like to proppose anadditional feature for Affinity Photo, which I was missing: arangement of Brushes, color swatches, styles and so on in categories and subcategories, like the assets.

  10. Photoshop/Adobe set a standard for all apps, apparently, by putting the vertical toolbar on the lefthand side of the app. This is wonderful--for left-handed users. Being right-handed, I moved and docked the toolbar to the "panels" window on the right side of the app many years ago meaning I no longer had to move the mouse cursor back and forth cross screen which is, IMHO, wasted motion. I do the same in Affinity Photo but the tools do not dock (become "sticky") to the panels window. This suffices BUT my request is that in a future release of Affinity products you make the toolbar, and similar windows, dockable to the panels window or any other windows within the app. Perhaps southpaws would also like to dock the panels to the toolbar on the left side of the app. I think this *might've* been suggested a year-and-a-half ago but since it still hasn't been addressed, I thought a refresh might be in order. Thanks!
  11. Hello, I have a problem. I want to create a PDF for printing. The background should be transparent except where the photo is. The photo should be backed with the special color "Spot1". Can someone explain how to do this?
  12. Hello, the Panel/Toolbar that is usually on the right side of the screen is no longere there. I don't know if it disappeared or I accidentally closed it but it was very useful when trying to change levels, modify individual layers, etc. Could you please let me know how I can get this area back? Attached a screenshot of the area where this panel/toolbart is.
  13. A while back I referred to this in passing in a thread here — I kept finding that my custom tool panel (Character + Paragraph + Text Frame + Transform) would vanish unexpectedly. I'd have to reassemble the custom panel all over again. But it wasn't a bug after all — they didn't "just vanish." I use Alt+F4 to exit Affinity Publisher. But it turns out the program has been using the keystrokes to close the front-most window, which always seems to be that custom tool panel. Using the keyboard shortcuts feature to bind Alt+F4 explicitly to the Exit command has fixed this. Alt+F4 no longer affects the custom tool panel.
  14. Hello Affinity Team, Thanks for creating a great product! There is a feature I miss. Being able to show more panels at the same time. This would be really, really, really useful, for example when trying to add a symbol to specific layer. If I would be able to see both the symbol panel and the layers panel, I would be able to drag and drop the symbol in the right place. It's a big pain to have to select a layer, or group of layers and then try to add the symbol to the canvas, as the symbol never ends up in the right place. Also, it would be useful to be able to see more panel, when having to switch tools which are located in different panels. Now, as opposed to the desktop version of the app, which has this feature, you need to click and touch a lot! Is there a way to get this feature? Best, Dan
  15. The last 1.8.2 update has broken the use of tab to navigate the values of the color panel. You can use the tab to go to next field, but as soon as you type a new value, tab stops working until you manually click into a field again. This worked fine in 1.8.0 and 1.8.1. It seems that tabbing after typing the value deselects the current field instead of selecting the next one. Setting cmyk values is now a slow tab-type-click process. Other tab-navigable panels work fine (for example, transform panels) By the way, this is a good chance to remind you we'd love to have tab-navigation in all panels, not only The Chosen Ones. 😉
  16. Hi, I've been working with Affinity Designer for a few weeks now. Coming from Adobe Suite CS6 there's is a lot I like about Affinity Designer, but also a few things that would make working in AD just that little bit better. One of those things is that Align and Distribute doesn't have its own panel. Maybe it Align and Distribute could be combined with the Transform panel (see image) ... or just could have a panel on it own. greetings, Ivo
  17. Affinity's use of the mousewheel is very helpful indeed. Adding this feature to panels such as Character and Paragraph would speed up ones work flow. Currently I must move my mouse over to these panels and manually scroll down.
  18. I am really liking publisher so far, and can imagine working with it professionally in the future. I am using indesign cs5.5 at the moment and one thing I would like to see in publisher which is in this program is collapsible panels. I like to have some panels open all the time, like character, paragraph, pages and color. This already fills my workspace pretty much, but I would like other options quickly available too, but not take up space all the time, f.i. the text frame option, the text styles and stroke options. Having some way to group a couple and minimize them would be very helpful.
  19. Please excuse me if this has been requested. Please consider option to change Adjustments/Filters panels to List. The panel fly outs are pretty, but take up a lot of limited space on the iPad. Thank you.
  20. Ok Serif / Affinity guys... This is driving me crazy! Previously I have submitted this suggestion, though I don't believe I was heard. IMO Affinity products desperately need the ability to auto-hide panels. See [https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/31218-multi-uiux-suggestion-auto-hide-panels/] I am using a very large notebook computer with a 17" screen. Large screen for a notebook, though smaller screen size for graphic design work. With this monitor using the panel controls in Affinity products is frustrating. There simply isn't enough room! I group panels needing more vertical space (layers, effects, history, brushes, etc.) together. Panels needing less vertical space are also grouped. Regardless how it is organized I do not have enough vertical space to effectively use the panels. Some of the panels require large vertical space, some medium, some smaller. With 3 stacked sets of panels the larger panels are way too cramped. Even if I group the medium and smaller panels together (which puts way too many panels in the smaller panel group), there still isn't enough vertical space for the larger panels. With smaller monitors, having panels on both sides of the screen (without auto-hide) is obviously impractical. Working with cramped panels is extremely clumsy and frustrating. Affinity UI panel design is not elegant for smaller monitors!!! If I could auto-hide panels (as was implemented in Serif *Plus applications), I could put panels on both sides of my monitor and have all the panels I find useful easily accessible. Current implementation forces users with 'smaller' monitors to make significant concessions in their use of panels. Regardless of screen size, the ability to auto-hide panel groups would be useful for all/most users, as this would allow users to better organize their application interface, and enable users to have more panels immediately accessible. This would make the use of panels in Affinity applications significantly more elegant. PLEASE consider implementing an auto-hide feature in panel groups in Affinity applications.
  21. Customizing the studio space is very important, especially for small screens. Illustrator has quite an awesome feature that affinity designer is missing. You can create a second studio with minimized (icons only) panels that pop-open when clicked. This saves a lot of space but makes them much easier accessible compared to only the tabs in affinity (often you even have a scrollable tab bar). The benefit is that you can have your big panels on the very right and expand one additional panel on the inner right studio. This males working soooo much easier. It would be great if you could add this feature.
  22. Hi Affinity team! I worked for years on Adobe CC and I transitionned recently to the Affinity suite (death to Illustrator!). I work on a big screen and I'm used to have several layer of panel clipped on each side of my screen, like in the exemple. I find it really convinient when you want to access a lot of fonctions really fast and, more important, keep those fonctions in the same place at all time. Sadly that feature isn't part of the affitinty apps. You can clip just one row of panels to the sides of the screen, the second row just floats and I tend too drag it by mistake. I would love to have this feature in affinity, it's one of the few problems I have with your apps. Thanks !
  23. Hello I have a problem with studio panels. I use three monitors on Windows 10. Every time I arrange the panels on the second monitor and restart Affinity Designer or Photo, they are unordered. Sometimes the panel is missing and sometimes they all move to the third or first monitor. I can't solve this problem. Is there any way that studio panels will always stay in one place? greetings Michael
  24. I have no idea if this is the best place to post this or not.... I'm trying to replicate a 7-panel brochure I did in Adobe Indesign and having problems with making the transition. The finished, folded size is 4" x 9". So I created my initial document with those dimensions. The inside panels of the brochure must be 4 7/8 (3.875") x 9 to accommodate fold creep. So I create a second master with those dimensions. I want each "panel" of the brochure to be a page, and then want to lay them out side by side to create the brochure inside and outside. Attached is a thumnail of the Indesign page panel showing the page panels (pages) in spreads. Each panel is a page and, when dragged into this configuration, create the spreads to print. Is this even possible in Publisher?
  25. Since the latest update of PHOTO and DESIGNER everytime i launch the programs the panels keep changing size. It worked fine on 1.7. But 1.7.1 is a mess. Tried using control on boot to reset hasn't helps. Suggestions? Please fix this its really annoying. It would be great to save a workspace like ADOBE ( sorry) and then you could have multiple layouts. Gary
