  1. Okay, so I've been driving myself up the wall here, because I've just noticed that my paint brush in black is also painting white depending on the existing luminosity of the image it seems? Check the video out, and please let me know if this is something I'm doing, or whether it's yet another AP2 issue to add to the list. Also note the ridiculous rendering I'm having to deal with on my M1 MacBook Air. I've tried all sorts of hardware settings to no avail. brush-video.mp4
  2. I have coloured in images on a previous version and now with the current version, I cannot find and use the colour bar at the top right once I select the painting tool. All I get is grey scale. There used to be a range of colours I could click on and apply to my drawing. Apologies if this is the wrong section of the Forum as I did try the Help but didn't get anywhere. I have attached two files completed on the previous version. I want to do the same with a new drawing.
  3. When I use the paint brush tool, I'll at times do quick successive strokes (particularly when sketching). When doing this on a tablet it sometimes detects this action as a double tap, stamping the brush shape and or texture to the full size of the brush (also ignoring pressure sensitivity) as though I just clicked my mouse button. I've not experienced this in any other digital art software I have used, and quite frankly I find it incredibly annoying having to either draw back over it or all the otherwise unnecessary undos. I find this to be a very bizarre feature to include as a default in a paint brush tool. I'm aware there may be a way to disable this, and I hope someone can tell me there is and how, but I for the life of me haven't been able to find a solution.
  4. Hi there, I am having serious problems with Affinity Photo. -Smudge tool, it's horrible when editing. Strength is also not responding as it should -Brush does not paint 100% When you reboot everything goes back ok or seems so. -The saved files don't really save, I've lost a lot of work because of this bug. It all seems really hopeless and highly frustrating to me. I don't know what is happening, sometimes I also have problems with A.Designer, with the same file sometimes it goes well and other times the export takes too long and they are not large files. I thought it could be Dropbox but I already verified that it is not the problem. Friends, I don't know what's going on, I hope you can fix this soon, because it's not healthy to work like this, seriously. I'm almost crying when this happens. I have version 2 of AF for Win, and this all seems like a bad joke to me. LFM
  5. Hey Guys! So I have had a bit of a consistent issue with the paint brush tool ignoring the colour selection. Screenshotted is basically what happens, it will just transfer black on the page instead of the colour. This happened the day before and fixed itself after the program (Photo) crashed. But today, there is no crush and after restarts its still a issue. Using a Huion Kamvas 13 - updated drivers, and this is a issue with the tablet or without the tablet. Running Windows 10, 16G Ram.
  6. Hello everyone, I´m using Affinity Designer since a month or two and I´m wondering if there´s a setting or way to create multiple objects or vectors on the same layer. For example I´d like to use the Vector Paint Brush tool on one layer, without creating a new one every time I add a new vector. I know that you can group and classify layers, but that´s not really what I´m looking for. Well, AFD is not a ´traditional´ digital painting programme like Clip Studio Paint etc. (actually it´s totally not), but maybe you can use it as such in some cases. So, what I´m looking for is a feature to ´paint´ like in pixel-mode without ´separating´ each ´line´. I don´t really think that there´s a setting or feature like that, but maybe I´ve overseen something... (I´m sorry if there is a similar topic like that in the forums, but I didn´t find anything.)
  7. When activating the pressure control for the paint brush tool, it is possible to draw a stroke beyond the default size (see attachment). I find this not very useful, because it takes away control from the drawing process - I have good reason to choose a certain size. It seems not possible to restrict the size to the chosen value in the brush settings. Referring to the attached image, even with pressure control activated, the stroke must not go beyond 16 px. It should be possible to have the option to restrict the size.
  8. I'm not sure if this is an issue with my tablet (or driver) or if this is a bug. When I make a tip or start a stroke using the paint brush tool the first tip is doubled. That becomes especially obvious if an image brush with transparent features is used (the opacity is increased), as the first tip is stronger than the following. It does not happen when I use the mouse. I use a Huion Inspiroy H950P.
  9. I don't know if anyone has pointed this out, but I have been dealing with the pressure sensitivity cancellation issue with Pixel Persona for Paint Brush Tool. What exactly happens is that when I'm drawing with paint brush tool on pixel persona using my pen tablet, the pressure sensitivity works just fine until I use other tools. For example, drawing with paint brush tool --> use erase brush tool to erase --> come back to paint brush tool = this cancels the pressure sensitivity and all the lines I draw becomes the hardest. This happens usually when I use a different tool in between my drawing. I was just using one of the selection tools and revisit paint brush tool then pressure got messed up. In order to fix it, I have to find the brush I was using before using erase brush tool/other tools and select it again. This never happens to Affinity Photo, so I am not sure what is causing this bug but I'd appreciate if this gets fixed or anyone knows how to fix this problem. It can slow down my process quite a bit. Thanks.
  10. I've been editing designs for a logo, cleaning up lines and colors for the last few days working 5+ hours a day. Been using mostly the paint brush and easer brush. Today on one layer (the same one I was working on yesterday) both brushes are not working correctly. They are both set at 100% opacity, flow, and hardness but with the paint brush it isn't painting a solid color. It's pixelated, and skips space and will not "color in" a line to make it darker. The eraser is doing the same thing. It will not erase fully. I added a pixel layer and both brushes work fine, exactly like they should, but on the layer I need they will not. I've attached a screenshot of the full page, the little lines that the arrows are point at are the examples. I am usually zoomed in very close and working 1-5 pixels at a time for this which I also included a screenshot of. I don't know what has happened to this one layer after closing the program last night and opening it today. I still have a lot of work to get done on this and I can't do anything if this isn't working. What caused this? How can I fix it?
  11. Hi there, when I use the paint brush tool, Affinity Photo not only shows the cursor, but also a kind of preview blob of ink that shows what would happen if I were to start drawing. This is usually helpful, but in my case, it is not, so I was wondering whether that ink blob could be deactivated. Background: I'm currently filming educational videos in which I record my screen as I write on a virtual whiteboard. So far, I've been using Microsoft's Whiteboard tool, which works very well, but doesn't allow me to hide its various buttons and tool bars. I thought Affinity Photo, while not especially designed for this use case, would work beautifully. However, while the mouse cursor is not included in the screen recording, that ink blob is, which makes the recordings unusable for my purpose. Any ideas? Cheers, Chris
  12. I have read a few threads, but I just want to know if it's still designed not to be able to assign different shortcut for Paint Brush Tool and Pixel Tool on Affinity Designer. Does anyone know? It just doesn't make sense to be customizable.
  13. Hi, Paint Brush Tool does not respond correctly anymore after using Mesh Warp Tool. Steps to reproduce : - Paint something on pixel Layer - Use Mesh warp tool to deform it - Go back to Paint Brush Tool, and try to draw anywhere on a layer. You'll start to draw something only on certain areas, randomly. I'm using AF 1.7.3 on Windows 10
  14. Feature Request; Picking a color by just Alt+SingleClick with paint tools without DRAG (paint brush tool, flood fill tool). Sorry my mistake, because of screen recording permissions. please delete this title.
  15. Hello all, Newbie here. Love all the tutorials and help with Affinity Photo on the web. I think this is the perfect alternative to photoshop. My question is regarding the Paint Brush Tool. As you can see in the attached photo, when I apply the brush to my work, this red line with a plus sign and circle appear where I'm brushing. The white circle is there when I select the brush, but as soon as I press and paint the red line appears and makes painting awkward in my opinion. Is there a setting to turn this off? I don't see this in the tutorials here or other Youtube video when using this tool. I'm using v1.7.2 Thank you for your help.
  16. Hi The paint brush tool works normally upon starting up Affinity Photo, but after executing actions such as changing the brush, color, or swapping to another tool and then back to the brush, the paint brush tool will often enter a state where it will allow me to draw only straight lines. The mouse itself it still able to move freely, but when attempting to draw even a simple curve, a straight line will be drawn instead, starting from where the mouse initially was and ending at where the mouse stopped. So far, the only solution I have to this is to close the application and start it again, which can be quite troublesome considering this issue happens every 5 to 10 minutes. I've even updated the application to the latest 1.7.2 update, but the same issue still happens.. I'm wondering if anyone is having the same issue? Or if there is any solution to this? Thanks!!
  17. Hi, I'm trying to select a brush with Erase Tool turned on. but when I select a brush at the Brush Panel.. it's selecting Paint Brush Tool automatically, I know there is this Icon like this image as example, but how can I get rid of this? in this video I can demonstrate this issue, because some others brushes with this Brush Icon works with Erase Tool selected, please help me... I just want to Erase with the same Brush that I paint Bug-brush.mov
  18. Since the update I can't zoom out it only zooms in even when holding alt.the Paint tool works sometimes but not other times for no apparent reason.
  19. When I apply blur effect to image and try to use paint brush (black) to selectively eliminate effect nothing happens. Opacity 100%. If I invert blur effect and use white color nothing happens either. This worked on previous build. Any ideas ?
  20. I'm a bit confused with the behaviour of the "none" colour while brush painting in pixel persona. I can set the colour of foreground and background to "none", what is also indicated by the red diagonal line. This is fine until I choose the Paint Brush Tool and start to paint something. The colour of the foreground changes automatically to white indicated by the white circle, but the brush is painting nothing. Because before the sellection of it the colour was set to "none". But why is than the circle indicating white colour? Either it should stay indicating "none" (red diagonal) or it should paint with white colour. This would by logical, am I right?
  21. Currently the Paint Brush Tool has no function assigned for Right Click. I think it would make sense to add a 'Right Click' command to open up a small bar that shows the (8, 10, 12?, maybe customizable) recently used brushes. That would speed up the drawing process. Another way to use it would be to open a UI for changing the brush width and hardness.
  22. Hey guys, thanks in advance for your help! I recently purchased affinity and am beginner/intermediate.. I also recently watched a dodging and burning tutorial involving 50% gray fill layers and painting white or black on them to “dodge” or “burn” excepppppt my paint brush tool isn’t painting? I don’t use an Apple pen, I’ve already toggled the “touch for gestures only” on and off to see if that would solve it and nothing. My history will acknowledge that I used the paint tool, and even if I have my opacity/flow to %100, I’m seeing 0 effect ): I can’t screen record so here’s a screenshot of where all my selections are at. If I attempt to paint, well, nothing happens. Hahah pretty frustrating as it’s a small issue to hinder my workflow ): help!
