  1. I'm combining vector shapes and vector brushes, both colored with the same spot color. After the export to PDF, the spot color is preserved in vector shapes with fills and basic strokes only. Vector brushes with textured strokes are still translated in to CMYK colors. Is this bug or missing feature?
  2. I encountered this problem and was able to track it down to an .ai file I had placed into the art. Removing that image and replacing it with a png worked like a charm.
  3. Importing a PDF or (the same file as) AI-File with some gradients bring a very disturbed result. Also the exported PDF looks like the preview on the screen. See attached screenshot. If I resave the .AI as EPS and import this to AP 1.7.0.293, the preview on the screen isnt very nice but close on the original - the exported PDF looks like it should. If someone of serif needs the .ai, please PM or answer on this thread.
  4. The bleed area on an image shows a darker tint when exported to pdf. Pierre70-uitnodiging-outline.pdf
  5. Still learning Affinity Publisher - great program for my needs and will be nearly perfect once the photo & design persona are added. This is my current (2nd?) edition of a photo-portfolio eBook. It's the result of my search for a better way to publish PDF eBooks.
  6. I have some content produced in Page Plus which I want to transfer to Publisher. As Publisher does not read Page Plus files I saved it as a pdf and imported. I had some text saved in a box which I wished to select and group together but this did not work, Publisher wanted the whole page or nothing. On the attached file I wished to select the individual items on the left side, also the "Marking System" part on the right hand side separately so I could move it to another page. prog19covermiddle.ppp
  7. .If you create a magazine with Affinity Publisher then you get font problems with importing PDF advertisements, the fonts are not displayed correctly
  8. I am opening a color book cover pdf in Photo. All colors are there except one in the graphic on the front & back cover. On the spine the logo vanished completely How do I see the green color in the graphic? Thanks
  9. Will Affinity Publisher allow the Author and Subject fields of a PDF to be set by the end user of Affinity Publisher, and neither left blank, as at present, nor autofilled, please? William Overington Saturday 9 March 2019
  10. Two of us in the studio are running Affinity Designer 1.6 (latest update) on Mac OSSierra but seeing identical PDF issue when exporting. 1. New and legacy AFDesign files are manifesting same behavior when we try and export PDFs (using out of the box settings) 2. Fonts appear correctly in Affinity Designer but the only way we can export files and not have the messed up files is to export Text as Curves (not ideal) 3. We're running two separate computers with local versions of all fonts. Both computers have separately licensed versions of the software too. Exact same behavior in terms of corrupt / malformed PDF output. (See attached images) Please help — this has only appeared since 1.6 update. We rely on AFFINITY DESIGNER for client deliverables. Thx.
  11. Hi... I have a problem.... I'm trying to export a design as a PDF but one of the images is missing... but this only happen when i export in PDF, if the export is made in PNG works fine.. I'm using the 1.6.51.135 version. Check the video please. https://screencast-o-matic.com/watch/cqfXXzZoRp
  12. I like to export PDFs that are set for initial view of Single Page & Fit Page. Is there any way of setting that option directly in Affinity Designer (Windows)? Thanks!
  13. Hi I have a V E R Y urgent issue: I have to create a doublesided --book(let)-style pdf (that means imposed) but I can't create from the printing menu. Obviusly this function should be located there, as bookprinting is featured as an option. However I cannot select virtual PDF printer. I tried installing 4 different "virtual" pdf printers I found at cnet.com, but it didn't help. Can you please help me with this!!
  14. I want to take a page from a PDF and rasterize it for use in a brochure. I used to be able to do this in photoshop. When I open the pdf in Photo or Designer, it loads an editable version, and since I don't have the fonts for this document, it looks really bad.
  15. I would like to see some changes to the PDF export in Publisher regarding bleed. I would like to be able to change the bleed setting in export in the "more" dialog. This way I can set bleed (and a specific bleed value?) for a specific export-preset. This can not be done now, and I still have to check or uncheck bleed regardless of the preset. Having the ability to change the bleed value in the export settings would be very useful, as printers have different requirements for these things.
  16. ... or should I say the miseries of font substitution? I placed a file for testing purposes and the font changed from GothamLight to LCD. Strange decision, because the fonts do not look too similar. If I look at the document properties / fonts in Acrobat: GothamLight | Type 1 | Embedded subset | User defined encoding. LCD in my system is TrueType. I am hoping for the day, when Publisher allows us to decide whether to place a PDF editable or just as an image.
  17. I am sorry if this is not a relevant issue, or if I have misunderstood something. I am running Affinity Designer 1.6.5 on a Mac with El Capitan: I have made a figure (an illustration for an article) that contains text in different fonts. Then I exported this figure as a pdf file with all fonts embedded as subsets. When I check this pdf in Acrobat, all fonts are there as subsets, just as intended. The pdf can also be opened in Affinity Designer with no problems. Now, use this pdf as an inserted object in a word processor like Word, Nisus Writer Pro or Mellel. Then print the article to pdf from the word processor. The new pdf file looks fine in Preview and Acrobat; but Acrobat reveals that all fonts that were embedded in the figure, now have the same cryptic name, e.g. “font0000000022523ae5”. If the new article pdf is opened with Adobe Illustrator or Affinity Designer, they will complain that the font “font0000000022523ae5” is missing. Affinity Designer will allow me to select a replacement font, but only one for all of the figure text. The thing is, my previous workflow involved making the original pdf, the one with the figure, with an old version of Illustrator, and with Preview to assist. When these pdf’s are used as inserted objects in a word processor, the final article pdf works quite fine, and no fonts are “missing”. I wonder why there is such a difference. The obvious workaround, just to be on the safe side, is to convert all text to curves when exporting the illustration pdf. This will look fine when printed on professional equipment, though is has some disavantages when sharing manuscripts or printing them on ordinary office printers. Also observed: If the original pdf export from Affinity Designer embeds the complete fonts (not subsets), then no fonts are reported as “missing” in the final article pdf. And if Adobe InDesign is used instead of a word processor (with embedded subsets in the original figure pdf), then the exported final article pdf will open fine in Affinity Designer, while Illustrator will outline any text used in the figure.
  18. Hey, I would like to know if is there any option on Affinity Publisher to change the name of the PDF on tab. For example, when we open the exported PDF in Google Chrome it has a name on Tab ("paper_taxis"), but if we open on Adobe Acrobat it shows the pdf name on tab ("Paper_BusTickets_PT_compressed"). We need to have a way to change that name. Is there any option to do that ? Waiting for your feedback. Best regards, Nádia Nair
  19. Hi there! I've just redone a brochure in Affinity Publisher originally produced at my agency using Indesign. The process of creating the layout was smooth, but the export to PDF/X3 wasn't: Either parts of the text got rasterized or some images were missing in the exported PDF. When using the preset "Export (web)" some headlines and parts of the copy text got rasterized without any apparent reason (see page 10 + 11, no fx, fonts embedded). If exported to web with the option "don't raster anything" set the same headlines and copy text got exported just fine as vectors - but some images were missing afterwards (afphoto format). Just wonder what I was doing wrong? Best, Volker brochure-test-web-no-raster-allowed.pdf brochure-test-web-raster-only-unsupported-features.pdf
  20. hi, I have created a well working TOC and even the Links are working after exporting the file to PDF. But, and there is always a but; the TOC isn't transferred as a PDF - TOC. Only "miniatures" pictures are exported and automatically inserted, but the Table of Content not. What PDF would also supports. Any advice? Maybe I just haven't found the on click or so. But this would be a crucial feature, especially when designing catalogs and bigger magazines. Hoping for an advice. Cheers, thanks and greetings from Salzburg, Austria Gerhard
  21. The export in pdf x / 1a-2003 does not preserve the groups of layers and their names. Result: problem to tell the printer the support blank. Thank you for your reply.

    Cannot export PDF

I cannot, for the life of me get this software to export my project as a PDF. Whenever I select PDF under the export menu it just hangs up and says generating export at the bottom. Nothing ever happens. How can I export as a PDF?
  23. Bug?: I opened a 18 page pdf (attached) in the latest version of Publisher without saving it. I selected pages 13, 14, and 15, clicked on the duplicate icon and only 14 and 15 duplicated. I tried this with several existing pdf documents and had the same issue. When I immediately saved the new document in native format, and tried duplicating the same pages, it worked correctly. Don't know if this matters to you or not. :-) Suggestion: When you click the icon to add a page you are asked where you want to add it "Before/After" and the page number. I'd like the same feature for duplication. For example, if I select pages 15, 16, and 17, and choose the duplicate icon, it would be nice to get a prompt where I want to add them...:-) Thanks! 24. Hello all, please I have problem with bleed, specialy print crop marks in export to PDF. I have document (business card) and size of document is bigger in every size by +3mm. For PDF export I need put into this document crop marks with bleed 3mm ( this crop marks go -3mm to the documet) and give me pure bussiness card size. If I set in >docoment setup "bleed" to 3mm, in export I have set "include bleed and include crop marks", after export pdf with this settings NOTHING HAPPEND = crop marks are always in maximum document size not -3mm inside document. (I try put against 3mm / -3mm / and diferent numbers...nothing happend). Please help!!! Im mad, because in PS it was 2 click in PDF export and it was done, here I cant handle it easy way. TY for your help
  25. Version: Photo 1.5.1 (test) Criticality: High Opening a PDF in Affinity Photo causes text with too much space between letters (See attached Screenshot). Different configuration of Replace of missing Fonts in import dialog does not make any difference. When I Import a PDF, wich was generated on the same PC (other application, e.g. Libre Office Writer), it works correctly. In this case there are no missing Fonts. It looks like Affnity Photo does not use Fonts embedded to the PDF. Replacement by a other installed Font or the same Font causes corrupt text.
