  1. (please excuse me, I'm french, therefore not good in english !) I created my first file with Publisher (mainly with elements copied from an InDesign file), and I can't export it as pdf. There is an error message : "Erreur lors de l'exportation vers: /Users/...". Why ?
  2. Hi, Feeling a bit daft and its driving me nuts, When I create a document in design using letters with styles (wood effect, etc) in affinity its sharp, as soon as I import it (pdf) its pixelated when I enlarge it. This only happens when I use styles not when I use curves or flat letters. I've changed rgb settings, document size, everything. What am I doing wrong please. Thanks Just noticed, this happens with any effect on anything (curves, fonts with 3D etc)
  3. How do a merge multiple PDF pages into one PDF file? Trying to submit a book for POD publishing. I have all 3 Affinity products.
  4. Hi, I'm trying to load a PDF from a notation software. But 1. Preview reads it 100% 2. Designer looses all ICONS 3. Graphic has icons but text is no GOOD. Dorico-Quick-Reference-Card.pdf
  5. I've looked for similar posts, but not seen this reported: Faulty Text Ligatures when PDF is Displayed using MS Edge Browser. Affinity Publisher 1.7.1.404 running on 64-bit Windows 10 Pro 1903 After creating a short booklet using Arial headings and Times New Roman body text, I wanted to export review copies in PDF format. I chose Export... PDF (for Web), using Affinity Publisher's default settings. Problem When the PDF (for Web) file is viewed using the MS Edge Browser, Microsoft's default viewer for PDFs on Windows 10 PCs, several text ligatures are faulty. When the same file is viewed using Adobe Reader, the ligatures are OK. But many PCs will be set to Microsoft's defaults, so will open PDFs using MS Edge. Possible Temporary Workaround Using the "More" option, change the PDF (for Web) preset to embed "All Fonts," making sure that the "Subset" option is ticked. Then "create this preset" with a new name. This makes the PDF file slightly larger, but does give it a better chance of displaying correctly.
  6. I noticed that the ripple filter won't publish to PDF in export. ripple.pdf Ripple.afpub
  7. In publisher I use 'spreads' view. The printing company wants me to set a 1 mm bleed and export as pages instead of spreads (option: 'all pages' on export page). The thing is that my exported PDF shows the inside bleed of the next page instead of its own. Same for the next page (shows bleed from previous page). [see picture] I'm no expert in publishing but this looks weird from my point of view. Is this the normal behaviour or is it a bug? I want to be sure before sending my file for printing. Thank you
  8. Hello all, I turned a bit in the menus, but I did'nt found where I can setup a security level on the exported pdf, basicaly, how to forbid the export from the pdf ? Thanks . Alain
  9. Hi. I've been using Affinity Designer happily for a year or so but recently downloaded an update and since, I have had an issue when exporting a file as a pdf for print. It seems to randomly amend typed text (letters and numbers) so dates and titles will change for no reason (usually an increase or decrease either way). It's fine if I flatten the pdf or export as another document (either jpg or png) but this is no use when I need to send so much to print with crops and bleeds. I've attached the latest version that I've been working on with the flattened version and pdf for print ... any ideas and suggestions? Thanks. 10. Just started working with Affinity Publisher, and all beens well until this 12pp A5 booklet. When I come to export a PDF the error occurs? Will need to send to print shortly. Need a solution quickly. Regards Mark
  11. I've just been trying to export 5 PDF artboards using the Export Persona and I can't find the 'include bleed' option. It was a tick box in AD 1.6 but now it is not an option in the Export Persona unless I use the File > Export option
  12. I'm seeing a few errors when opening PDFs into Publisher (and Designer) with some text objects being positioned incorrectly. Also ligature glyphs are replaced by a ?. Occasionally, some other glyph substitutions. I've no reason to suspect the PDFs themselves, as they behave in all other apps.
  13. I own Affinity Designer and use it to create wedding stationery which I outsource to a local printshop for printing. I always convert the documents to a PDF before emailing to the printshop and have never had any problems before now. This is what is showing up on their end (on my end it is just a nice white border). I have ungrouped every single element in the file and converted them all to curves. I feel like I've tried everything and I'm not sure what to do next to ensure it shows up correctly and can be printed for my customer! * NOTE this is a screenshot that they sent me. I do my work on an iMac and it looks like they use Windows but like I said I've never had any issues in the past with them!*
  14. Hello everyone, I am trying to create a "multi-page document" file since I'm working on a catalog but i can't find a way to export several pages into one PDF file. Does Affinity photo count with the photoshop equivalent of PDF presentation/Multi-page document?? Thanks :)
  15. Hello, it appears Publisher is unable to edit PDF files. Is this correct? Seems an omission. Michael
  16. Hi all! I'm using Affinity products for a long time, but I'm posting for a first time in the forums. Sorry if it is a stupid question, but I don't know how to handle it... There is my problem: I got a project with many components in it. I'm working in Publisher. For the main content I made a polygon shape, but I've decided to decorate the sides of it whit vector shapes which I put like a mask in the big polygon. And there comes the problem: when I try to export it in PDF there is a shadow from the decoration that isn't suppose to be visible and a part of the small polygons. I've try to rasterise it but the quality becomes too bad. The first picture is how it has to be, the 2-nd is with the problem (with the arrows). Any ideas how to fix it and what may be the problem (I guess the vectors but I don't know why)? Thanks in advance.
  17. While waiting for Publisher I have been editing a book with text and photos in Blurb's Bookwright programme. When Publisher arrives, will I be able to export my book in Pdf form from Bookwright, open it in Publisher and continue to edit it (I am far from finished...)?
  18. I didn’t choose to update the app.. it did it by it own.. and now I cannot export my job documents.. fix it please!
  19. Hello At the moment it is not possible to scale a placed PDF with % always in relation to its original size. This is necessary if you work with scale plans etc. My request is to have a % number in the transformation tool to scale PDFs always to its original size, like it is already possible with pictures. Thank you.
  20. Hi all, I can't be sure I'm not missing something, but it seems that when exporting a multiple-artboard document via the Export persona I'll always get a single page giant PDF, while when using the Export dialog I always get a mutliple-page document (which is actually what I want). So... can I use the Export persona to get a multiple-page PDF at all? Thanks in advance for any insights.
  21. I've made a document containing 4 artboards, all with the same layout etc. But when exporting to a PDF file their order has changed. Instead of seeing first artboard 1 to 4, I'm now seeing artboard 4 to 1. What am I doing wrong? MacOS 10.13.6 with Affinity Designer 1.7.1 Thanks in advance.
  22. Hi, I recently migrated from illustrator, so I'm not sure if my question is even valid. I built up a document with layers, but after I exported it to PDF using the PDF (export) profile, and opened the generated PDF file, every info on the layer arrangement is lost. Acrobat also doesn't show the layers. I appreciate your help.
  23. After exporting to a PDF in Publisher I get a weird area at the place of the shadow. If I use the PDF function from Apple, it is not in it. But then the page format is no longer correct. (Affinity Publisher MAC 10.14.4) 220.Adv80x120zwApple.pdf 220.Adv80x120zw.pdf
  24. A couple days ago I asked about the value of pdfTool in a Quark forum. One comment was unexpected in that they pointed out that the tool is especially good for adding to a Publisher workflow in that it hasn't been around as long and may need a little more help than mature products like Quark and InDesign. That one perspective alone almost justified it's $500+ price tag. I wanted to know have other people found that those two products work really well together? Publisher is the only tool in the suite I haven't explored extremely in depth and I haven't even installed pdfToolbox yet. I like how Serif keeps the price low which allows for workflows like installing it on non-designers computers as I mentioned a couple days ago. Since the work in my company needs to pass by me the more expensive product (pdfToolbox) only needs to be installed on my machine. At first I didn't understand the very low pricing that Serif was doing but now it makes sense. I have even grown to like the name in that it may confuse some Microsoft Publisher users to accidentally start using Serif Publisher.
  25. I have produced a pdf version of the Affinity Photo manual that you can read without starting the program. It can be interesting to put it on your phone or tablet to read when you have some time to spare. Since the file is too big to upload here, I have put it on Dropbox for you to download. It is current for the last version of Affinity Photo. Comments welcomed. Here is the link: https://dropbox.com/s/d3uxmmypdx9ruzw/Affinity%20Photo%20Manual.pdf?dl=0
