  1. 621/5000 An image in the picture frame. The picture is linked. It has original 4000x6000 pixels. When exporting with 300dpi, the resolution of the image was calculated incorrectly. I can't verify the problem because it doesn't always happen. Explanation picture: 2 picture frames with the same picture on a layout page. Only a different image section can be seen in both. The sections have only a different scaling. (1 = 1838 dpi, 2 = 2337 dpi) The image on the left was calculated and exported with much too low resolution. The right picture was calculated and exported correctly.
  2. Export PDF. I try to make a PDF in Designer (iPad) for printing but the black is always built up! I have tried everything but it does not work. Is there a solution, am I doing something wrong .... or back to Adobe? Because this may / may not If i make an eps it will be fine. It is especially for the plain text that should not consist of a built up color.
  3. Hi all. Im on affinity publisher 1.8.1 on mac. When i try to export to pdf and select pdf/x-1a i get a color profile embedded by default. I'm not allowed to uncheck that option. Is there a workaround for this please? Why do i have embedded profiles in x1a
  4. Hey guys, I have a problem when trying to save pdf for print. I had successfully done this before, a number of times, the same exact way and this time it just doesn't work. Maybe It's something I'm missing here, please help. So, here is my problem. I am trying to save banner design with 3cm bleed and crop marks. I did set up bleed to 3cm in Document setup, I did include bleed in export pdf options, and I did make my elements bigger than artboard. And my bleed is still not saving... What am I missing?
  5. Hi, I've noticed that Publisher 1.8.3.641 on Win10 x64 sometimes re-breaks lines of text in imported PDFs. I have attached a PDF that I created with Publisher and a JPG that shows how the linebreaks look after re-import. The font is embedded and also installed on my computer. I have tried to reproduce this with a few other fonts but could not reproduce it, so maybe the font is part of the issue as well. I can send you the font to test if you tell me how. Cheers! test.pdf
  6. Hi, I found bug. I'm putting PDF in Publisher doc, and I have option to choose page which should be showed there. I'm closing Publisher file and then updating PDF file After opening Publisher file again, I can't choose page of PDF to be showed, all I can do is replace PDF So, I though maybe updating file in Resource Manager will help, but after this linked PDF is updated, but in all places where I put PDF I have 1st page I'm attaching video what is wrong (I'm saying about embedded file but I meant linked one). 7. Hi. New on AD. I opened a few times, but still trying to find my way (too long on AI). I exported a 2D drawing from Rhino as a PDF (since AI is not supported). I would like to assign different thicknesses to some of the lines of my drawing. The drawing lines are not joined in Rhino. When I open the PDF in AD the sketch looks to be all merged (using black arrow). Using the white arrow I just have too many nodes in every line to select them one by one, not even sure if this is the way. I would like to ask for help in this matter. Kind regards ,
  8. I have to work on a pdf file (exported from Adobe inDesign), which contains thousands of bar graphs. But, these bars are all turned into text, no matter opened by which affinity product. Please see attached the images. The first image is the correct one, while the other two images are what I get in Affinity. Each bar seem to contain three graphs, among which one is solid. However, this solid bar is replaced by a string of numbers and spaces. The curves with no fill stay intact. Anyone knows a solution to this issue? Edit: I am using Mac system - iMac (High Sierra) and MacBook (Catalina). Many thanks. Kafka
  9. Hi everyone, seems I'm not the only one with pdf-problems. I decided to make it a new topic anyway - this is urgent! Like many other musicians I use Finale to write music. I need to put some scores in a publication and the only way to export is .pdf - and no possibility to change any settings. So I wanted to place that score in Publisher - but what I got has nothing to with the file I created. The interesting thing is: In the preview (while opening) it looks ok. I am not happy, that I still have to go back to my old photoshop CS 6 to handle things like that. 😞 I attached the original pdf made with Finale - and what Publisher made of it. And yes, all the fonts are installed and available - and with PS all is good... BTW: I bought Aff. Photo, Desinger and Publisher and I like working with the progs very much - but things like that are very annoying (I tried for more than an hour to get it right)... Please help - Thanks a lot Ralf Finale.pdf Aff Publisher.pdf
  10. I have a large number of pdfs that were originated in Adobe Illustrator (v10). My needs for Illustrator were fully satisfied with the version, but it will not run on the latest Apple macOS Catalina. Retired, I only used Illustrator for nonprofit work. Affinity is a great deal. Affinity imports the pdfs with few glitches, but the text on the documents differs between my desktop and my iPad Pro. The text wraps undesirably on the iPad. Correcting this is difficult and it will take serious effort to determine whether, if reconstructed from scratch will solve the problem. On some text strings, a character that behaves like a tab character, when deleted and replaced by a space returns the same wide space between the two words. The text is left justified, ragged, so it is not a center justified paragraph issue. I have attached a file and will be specific about the issues, if useful. I am willing to accept a phone call, if useful to you. Blank.afdesign
  11. Hello Affinity Folks, I have no idea if I am positing this in the right place so I can only hope so. I don't see a "suggestions for a NEW product" option so I am putting my suggestion here. As I have seen, many people are asking for PDF Form creation and many are asking for it to be incorporated into your existing products. I personally would RATHER see affinity create their own version of LiveCycle. Here is why. If you were to create this software, you could not only make it robust and compatible to all your other software, but it would not be a convoluted mess in code compared to merging these features into your other packages. Updates would be much easier as well as adding in new beneficial features. Best of all it could be MAC compatible. Something Adobe LiveCycle is not. Yes, it would be yet another software package but you already have something from your past even to work from. So it's not like your working from a blank slate. Please give this some consideration and if possible put it out there for us to start testing. My hope of course would be 2020 as, PDF Form Creation (and Internet Webpage Forms) is a desperate need for us designers. Thank you, Epic
  12. I've exported a document with a spot colour and selected "honour spot colour" in the export panel, but the swatch does not display in the colour bars in the PDF?
  13. Hi! I have created a workbook that has a number of tables in it. I've copied and pasted these tables from page to page and just changed out the info (not sure if I created a bug by doing that). Anyway, some of the tables are fine, but some have issues when I export the file to a PDF. It only happens with cells that have two lines of text, each pointing to a different hyperlinks (see attached files, cell B2—"Exercise", "A1, A1 AT HOME."). It works fine in Publisher, but then when I export it to a PDF, in cell B2, the first line of text adopts the second line of text's hyperlink (ie: "Cable Lat Row" takes on "Supine Dumbbell Pullover's" link). This problem only effects certain two-line cells, not all of them and I can't figure out what is different about those particular cells. I've tried deleting all of the text in the cell and retyping and relinking the text and that didn't make a difference. I'd really like to avoid having to recreate all of the tables that have problems. Any help you all can provide would be GREATLY appreciated!! Thank you! 14. Hey there, I use this thread to not open another. When I export a 5400x4500 file it automatically turns to 5400*7635? or something like that. Is there anything I can do to solve it?
  15. I just finished a file in AP and when I try to export it to PDF it gives an error. I tried other files, older one and new ones, and they seem to work. The problem is with this file. Is there a way to debug and see what causes the error? PS: I'm using AP 1.8.3
  16. Hello everyone, I'm new to the Affinity Suite but I think that i've encountered an export bug with Affinity Designer for iPad (1.8.3). I've designed a business card for a friend and we decided to use the Papyrus font which suits his drawings. However, when exported as a PDF file, the spacing between letters is incorrect and looks weirds. This also breaks some designs because of misalignments in the entire document. Since the business cards contains his contact informations, I've created a test document to demonstrate my problem. I've tried many different settings but the only fixes I've found are to rasterize the font during export, or to convert the fonts as curves (not sure if this is the correct term). To make sure that I wasn't missing something, I've downloaded the trial version of Affinity Designer for macOS (1.8.3). With the same parameters, the text exported with the macOS version doesn't show the same problem as with the iPad version. You'll find the sample .afdesign file, PDF exports done with both macOS and iPad versions and screenshots of my export settings. Some more info : I'm using a brand new iPad Pro 11" (the 2020 model), so I don't think I've had enough time to break anything 😁 Thank you very much for reading and let me know if this is user error or if it is actually a bug. Best regards, Antoine Papyrus iPad.pdf Papyrus macOS.pdf Papyrus.afdesign
  17. I'm finding that when a PDF export preset is saved and the settings include Area: Pages — when the preset is used the next time the setting has reverted to Spreads, not pages. Should the user-created preset not store all possible settings in this dialog?
  18. LaTeX and InDesign can both create a PDF with bookmarks, based on the headings structure or other styles. (InDesign has a nice 'Table of Contents' function for managing this.) This greatly improves PDF usability.
  19. When copying and pasting parts of my sheet music, and then exporting as a PDF, I find there are thin visible outlines around every area I have pasted, which makes the sheet music very messy looking. The lines are not visible when editing in Affinity Photo. An example is attached. Can anyone help please? page4.pdf
  20. How do a merge multiple PDF pages into one PDF file? Trying to submit a book for POD publishing. I have all 3 Affinity products.
  21. Publisher insists on using, as the title string that it embeds in both PDF and JPEG output files, the name of an .aftemplate file that was deleted from disk. But the program has stored that name string somewhere and will not let go of it. How do I get rid of it? Otherwise I will have to run ExifTool and edit the string every time I export a document. Having the title that far off the mark just isn't acceptable. For a PDF file, the string in question is written as the document title (ExifTool shows the tag name as simply "Title"). For a JPEG file, ExifTool shows the string being used as the value of the IPTC tag "ObjectName". If need be I'm willing to edit the Windows registry to get rid of this thing. Please tell me it can be gotten rid of...
  22. Hi Folks, I'm trying to understand where I make a mistake: I create a CMYK doc with Fogra 39 profile, I place in the layout some RGB images, some texts, colored and 100K and a couple of boxes filled with other colors. When I export them I try to change the ICC to Fogra 29 or SWOP. I expect images to have different CMYK values... and it happens. However this changes also the vector boxes and text, so "Numbers" aren't preserved. Worst of all, also the 100%K comes on CMYK values. I tested some different setup, but when I change profile, numbers aren't preserved at all. Strange. Cannot find a way out of this. Someone could be so kind to explain me what I am doing wrong and how to fix it? Thanks a lot! G:
  23. Hi you all, I exported my presentation as a pdf and sent it to my client, in order to view it and print it. But he can't print it, as it is protected. I have seen the settings, but I don't find where I can remove this protection. Can you help me? Thank you
  24. I have a serious issue with the pdf-export from AD (as well as from AP). When I export my (rather large) image, the result seems to be heavy compressed though AD is set to not do so (see Screenshots). Do export the same file from AP, the image ist nice crisp and sharp, but the curves (Outlines) get rastered too an there is the bug of the not matching alpha channel which experienced already two years ago too... Designer Version 1.8.0.526 / Photo Version 1.8.1.604 This is the image in AD (left) and the exported PDF (right) Here the same file exported from AP, note the by far higher image quality (this is how it should look like) using the same export settings: That's the not matching alpha channel in the exported pdf from AP:
  25. Hello everybody. I have a problem when exporting my 4-page booklet from AP. If I print it from AP, it prints the four full pages. However, if I export the document as a PDF and print, it will print the two & three page on one sheet. I have attached some screenshots to help explain it better. The screenshots show the four pages in publisher, then the PDF laid out, the last shots show how the printer is going to print them. Thank you for taking a moment to help a noob.
