  1. Could anyone let me know how I can transfer my Appstore version for Affinity Design to a Windows PC. I made the call to switch to PC from mac and I now need to transfer the license. Many thanks!
  2. Does a single license allow me to install on multiple PCs (e.g., desktop and Surface tablet) and/or multiple devices (e.g., PC and iPad), assuming only one device is utilizing the program at the time? Also, can the software be deactivated on one PC and activated on an upgraded PC later. Thank you!
  3. Hey guys, i've been making some designs on affinity designer that i want to make into stickers some day. I've made about 4 or 5 of them but now i realize that i may have made em just a tad small. most are 7 in wide by 3 in tall. i think one or two may be 7.5 x 3 in. Anyways now im learning that these types of rectangular sticker designs would be best if they were 8 x 3 in. My question is what is the best way to resize em? would i need to start all over? should i just stretch em with a loss in quality? is there even a way to resize them without opening a new file in the correct sizing and then copying and pasting my old design onto it? -thanks in advance my fellow Affinity users.
  4. Did quick search and couldn't find similar reported. Using PC version 1.7.0.57 I have a double sided A4 leaflet - I imported to AP as a pdf and saved as a AP doc. Loaded AP format doc and exported to pdf (print ready, 300 dpi). On one side there are six square images in two rows. The top row in the resulting pdf the images appear as negatives - see attached - bottom row are fine. Note, all images appear correct in AP format doc. I then tried exporting as a pdf (print ready, 400 dpi) same result, top row of images as negatives, bottom row ok - then tried exporting as a pdf (flatten, 400 dpi) and this was fine, all images appearing as normal. I've uploaded the AP file and the pdf. AA X-STK leaflet - general.afpub AA X-STK leaflet - general.pdf
  5. Any recommendations about high performance desktop, for best fluent and quality work with Affinity ? cpu, motherboard, graphic card, monitor, discs...etc., each separately, or a good, already integrated desktop. Thanks
  6. Hi guys, thank you for reading this. I would ask you to consider a very smart and intuitive way to navigate the canvas. Illustrator (and also Photoshop with some minor difference) uses the modifier keys Ctrl, Alt, Shift and Space in combination to activate or deactivate certain tools. This solution is very useful and super fast because you do not need to move your fingers over the keyboards and you do not need to hit a key twice to activate/deactivate a tool, but with just 4 keys you can access to all the navigation tools, like pan, zoom, select, and so on. You probably already know what I'm referring about, but I'll add a list of the most common combos (please note that being a combo means also to hold them together while using the tool): Ctrl = Object Selection (or, if Object Selection is active, it triggers Element Selection) Ctrl + Space = Zoom In Ctrl + Space + Alt = Zoom Out Alt = Drag Copy (also after clicking for drag, atm it works just before) If you have to deal with conflicts among other shortcuts, like combos already used for other functions, please contact me and I'll be happy to deal with it. Finding the same interface as the most popular software would have many advantages: - reduce frustration and improve experience using the software - reduce adoption time - triggers interoperability between software (so you can use the same habits while switching from one sw to another...yes, someone still does) - uses a model already spread and tested, based on years of experience I totally understand that this is another software and it's normal to not expect to find the same stuff of the competitors, but this is not the kind of thing that makes AD positively different from its competitors (imho of course); making the transition from one software to another as smooth as possible for as many users as possible I think is more valuable. I and a bunch of other folks would really love to find these combos in the next updates. Thank you for your attention. p.s. dear reader of this topic, please, add here other combos that you would like to have in the future.
Gracias.
  8. I have Affinity Designer on my old PC. I bought a different PC with windows 10. Do I have to re-buy Affinity Designer for the new PC or is there a way to transfer the license to the new PC? Thank yoiu,Bob S./.......robert [EDIT: e-mail removed]
  9. I've updated my Affinity photo to latest version (1.6.3) and now I'm having problem of program keep crashing/Closeing down when I click any of buttons on either on menu or tool bar/navigation etc.(Close down program automatically with making pop up sound but no error message or pop up). I did not had this problem with previous version. It seems like I can open file like EXR or JPG with it, but as soon as I have any kind of interaction with it, it crashes and close down the program. My PC specs are: Window 10 Home 64-bit OS 32 memeory AMD RyZEN 7 1700 CPU Nvedia GPU(With latest update)
  10. Hi, I own a Mac and a PC and swap between the 2 depending on where I am and the work I'm doing (only work on one device at a time). Can I buy an Affinity Design licence that allows me to use the software on both my devices? I hope I don't have to buy 2 licences therefore costing double the money? Jon
  11. I have just used the trial of Affinity Photo and am now considering purchasing. I have a PC and Laptop and wondered if I have to purchase 2 downloads or will 1 download allow me to use on both computers?
  12. So after so many lagging issues with DESIGNER under windows 10. I have not reset it, uninstalled it, cleaned the machine, reboot, reinstall, added brushes and with in 3 uses of the program its back to brief lockups, very slow moving of item and slow loading of program. I never had these issues under windows 7. I have now put the first version of 1.6 released to public and it seems to be working better. Whats wrong with the program or what i am doing with it? I never had an issue under Windows 7 pro. But this experience under Windows 10 is terrible. I had issues with PHOTO as well. But reset seemed to fix it for the moment. When I reinstalled the brushes , i did them one at a time and checked..all was good...they are either DAUB brushes or FRANKENTOON...nothing else. PLEASE HELP! Gary
  13. I have a windows 10 pro machine, fresh install and my PHOTO is lagging in performance. When drawing with the paint brush is really jerky and you cannot create a smooth stroke. It the program seems to lock up for 5 seconds and then start working again. I had Windows 7 pro and PHOTO seemed to work flawless , but not now. It even takes 8 seconds longer to load. I have using solid state drives, 32GB ram i73930K, GTX 980. Should be working with out issue with this setup and i haven't even tried anything hard with it. ANY SUGGESTIONS ON WHAT TO DO ? Any help would be very much appreciated. Gary
  14. So when i used to start AFFINITY PHOTO and DESIGNER ( PC ), it would tell me there is an update available upon startup. Now nothing. Found out about it on facebook. How do i fix this so I get these update alerts again? Gary
  15. I was recently advised to check out affinity. I must admit I didnt check the price or functionality before buying but so far its practically useless for me. I generally import my pics onto my pc or nas using lightroom 5.7. this works well for my pc centric workflow and I am not interested in upgrading lightroom at present. What I want is to auto sync a number of folders to the ipad so I can introduce an ipad work flow. The minimum I want to do is review pics and remove them. Perhaps Ill progress to doing some raw edits prior to syncing back to the pc. I do not at any stage want to use the cloud or import pictures 1 by one. Lots of apple apps can see my nas although I have not found an option to download a whole folder or folders. Ive looked at the import from options and they just seem to be missing an import from nas option. Any thoughts/help greatly appreciated.
  16. Can I buy affinity designer on my pc through iTunes? And if so, would that allow me to use it on both my Mac and PC?
  17. Bonjour, Je désire acheter Affinity Photo et Designer pour mon iMac et mon PC portable. Faut-il que j'achète deux fois la licence ? Bien cordialement, Sebastien
  18. The Save History with Document is a brilliant function, that allows to screencast and build clean making-ofs. I noticed though that there's a cap around the hundreds or so; the first steps in the list disappear progressively. On purpose?
  19. Hi, I have recently purchased Affinity Photo and have been quite happy with what I can achieve with it. I'm a photographer and I normally go through the workflow of Iridient X-Transformer --> Lightroom --> Affinity Photo on my PC. Affinity Photo is only used for stacking and tone mapping purposes using TIF files generated by Lightroom. More and more I am finding myself going through the same performance pain points where I am basically sitting there for minutes waiting for Affinity Photo to do something (which I will get into below). Last night I downloaded the trial version of Affinity Photo on my Macbook Pro and did a few tests. Turns out Affinity Photo consistently performs up to 3 times faster on the MBP using the same set of files. I am hoping someone with more experience here can give me some advice on how I could improve the performance of Affinity Photo on PC. Below are the specs for my PC and MBP: PC Intel i7-4790K OC'd @ 4.40 Ghz (with a large Noctua air cooler) 16GB DDR3 RAM @ 2400 MHz with XMP profile 1 enabled (G.Skill Trident-X 8Gx2 F3-2400C10D-16GTX) Nvidia 1080 GPU (a Gigabyte OC model) Macbook Pro (Mid 2015, 15'') Intel i7 @ 2.5 Ghz 16GB DDR3 @ 1600 MHz AMD Radeon R9 M370X + Intel Iris Pro 1536 MB As you can see the PC's spec is significantly higher than the macbook's. It is winter here at the moment (<0C outside) and the system is well ventilated (has no problem in 144hz gaming) so there is no thermal limitation. The photos that I edit generally sit on a NAS. The PC is connected to the NAS via ethernet and the MBP via wireless AC. I have uploaded a sample of 4 RAF files generated by a Fujifilm X-T2 onto Dropbox. Here's the link. To test the performance. I always repeated the following steps and timed each one on each machine: Create a new stack in Affinity Photo using the 4 RAF files Set Live Stack Group blending to minimum Rasterize the Live Stack Group Tone map the pixel layer Here are some observations I made from the tests: Affinity Photo loads up faster on the MBP than the PC. Creating a Live Stack Group is consistently quicker on the MBP. Live Stack group blend mode live preview is a lot faster on the MBP than the PC. Live Stack group rasterizing is significantly faster on the MBP than the PC (10sec vs minutes) PC tone mapping consistently takes 00:50 ~ 1:30 to process. MBP tone mapping consistently takes 00:20 ~ 00:22 to process. CPU heavy tasks will utilise 100% of the CPU on the MBP but only 60~80% on the PC in some cases. There is no CPU throttling on the PC at all (winter + large cooler) GPU utilisation never goes above 1% on the PC. There is very little disk/network bandwidth utilitsation during any of these tasks. All of the above are true regardless of which renderer I use on PC and whether I have hyper-threading enabled or not. Having the RAF files on SSD's instead of the NAS made no differences either. I have tried the latest 1.6 beta and it made no differences in performance on PC using the same steps above. I don't understand why a PC with much better hardware is being out performed by a Macbook by 3 times as much and generally have a much smoother experience... I am getting to the point where I am seriously considering using the MBP as a photo editing machine but that would mean some significant investment into repurchasing software licenses and some new hardware so I could actually dock the MBP to my PC monitors and input peripherals and I would rather not have to do that. Any help is much appreciated! EDIT: more info on the spec's and additional notes on the observations.
  20. Looking to upgrdade my graphics card, and seeking to establish which cards are compatible with Affinity that will offer a 10-bpp display. I know Photoshop has a real compatibility issue regards displaying in full colour 10-bits per pixel with anything other than Quadro or Firepro cards which are a tad expensive if you want one capable of running the odd game or two. I am looking at something like the RX580, or the GTX 1060 - both of which I understand offer full 10-bit displays. Neither of them will offer 10-bit in Photoshop. Question is, will they offer 10-bpp in Affinity? Does Affinity actually have a list of 'recommended / supported' cards? i5 4670 16GB Hyperx Fury (possibly looking to bump this up to 32 in the near future) GA-Z87 Motherboard XFX GA 7870 Graphics card 2GB [which will be replaced imminently!] Dell Ultrasharp UP2516D 2560x1440 [100% Adobe RGB, 100% sRGB] Thanks in advance,
  21. Hi. I'm upgrading my CPU and motherboard. Do I keep my license or I have to buy the app again? Thanks.
  22. I am leaving a PC platform and buying a MAC. Can my Serif Photo Plus X8 be moved intact to the new Mac? I am surprised to find that Serif is no longer...received no word of this change.
  23. Hello, I have an idea regarding users who have purchased an Affinity license for one platform and want to use it on an additional operating system. For example, I have both a macbook and a windows PC. I purchased Affinity Photo and Designer for my macbook, but now I'd also like to use them on my PC. I can't afford to pay another $100 for apps that I've already purchased. Plus, once Publisher comes out as well as the ipad apps, I'll be investing even more money into Affinity. Now, had I just purchased an imac instead of a PC I could have gotten these second copies of Affinity for free because with an itunes account any app you purchase can be downloaded to any device associated with that apple ID. So why should it be different cross platform? Now, I fully understand that there is a lot of software out there that isn't transferable from windows to mac, but it isn't an obsolete idea either. The entire basis of Steam (the game management service) is purchasing one license that can be downloaded to whatever OS it is available for. Plus, wouldn't offering this service add to the innovative system that Affinity is trying to create? My point is, a lot of people, myself included, won't purchase a second copy for a second operating system when I could just walk to that device and use it instead, or get a free screen-mirroring service. So for the sake of the consumers convenience, I think that you should consider making this a possibility. But what about people giving away their "free" copy of affinity for the operating system they don't have? Well to work around that Affinity could offer their purchases/licenses right through their website (rather than using the app store) and you could log into the app with your affinity account to use them. It could be limited to one log in per account at a time. Or possibly a verification of your apple ID, and the email associated with your Microsoft account. Or purchasing a license could simply come with two copies similar to Microsoft Office. There are a multitude of ways to work around the issue. An alternate option would be to offer a discount to those that have already purchased one license. I would be more willing to buy a second copy if it were only say $20 than to pay the full price again. I hope that your team takes this idea into serious consideration! -Kalahgen
