  1. About The Box Set is hundreds of vector and raster brushes made for Affinity Photo & Designer. Each brush was handmade using real materials scanned at high resolutions and crafted to simulate real media. I wanted the origin of the brushes to have a heritage of the materials they are simulating. Scanning pools of watercolor, swatches of paint, and stipples of charcoal contributed to creating brushes with the same idiosyncratic material magic. My only request is that you take these brushes, with their clever names, as suggestions. They work superbly out of the box, but I strongly encourage you to adjust the sliders, rearrange or remove the textures, and discover how they can suit your hand(s). Make. Discover. Repeat. Cheers and happy art making, -Jef (WREN) RASTER BRUSHES For use in Affinity Photo and Designer. The blending brush in the Oil Set is the only one exclusive to Affinity Photo. DRAFTING INK OIL Oil Brush Dynamics Most oil brushes have blending built into pen pressure. With a single brush and hue you can adjust the luminosity of the stroke- giving it an oily blend. The Brush's color in the example above is the color of the background. A normal pressure gives you the hue without any lightening or darkening. 2. What Application are you using? All of them Are you using the latest release version? Yes all have been updated Can you reproduce it? Yep video attached Does it happen for a new document? If not can you upload a document that shows the problem? N/A happens when opening the software If you cannot provide a sample document then please give an accurate description of the problem for example it should include most of the following: What is your operating system and version. Osx Sonoma Developer Beta 1 Is hardware acceleration (in Preferences > Performance) ON or OFF ? have tried both What happened for you. No change Provide a recipe for creating the problem. open any of the suite, and then click onto anything else, safari, the desktop etc and it will crash the app. Screenshots (very handy) or a screen capture/video. attached Any unusual hardware. Nothing unusual, using a mbp 16inch m2 max 32gb of ram. Did this same thing used to work and if so have you changed anything recently? It worked pre osx beta, but after installing the beta it means im unable to use the affinity beta Screen Recording 2023-07-03 at 19.56.42.mov
  3. Hey I had something crazy happen with infinity designer.. I was using the Fill Tool on my m1 Mac (Metal turned off) and it started getting suuuuuper lagggy, and 5 minutes later my mac told me I had 0 storage left. I checked and found that affinity dropped a 141 GB file into my Mac's private file storage! I resolved this and continued to use the fill tool which lagged a bunch, then poof! Half of my layers started glitching out, they either disappeared or leave weird glitch marks. As i move around the software they dip in and out, but remain gone 90% of the time, Im wondering if there is a way to fix this? I tried exporting and opening the file on an intel Mac. Same issues. Guess the file is "corrupted" even though the layers seem to technically still be there. If anyone has a fix for this or any ideas let me know! Thanks 1872750970_ITISYOURBIRTHDAY.afdesign
  4. When choosing the “Edit in Affinity Photo” through the Extension list (…); Affinity opens with the photo and I’m able to edit as I please. When I close the photo, Affinity initiates the transfer back to OSX Photos, but it is pasting (best way I can describe it) a previous photo I edited in Affinity some days ago (a panorama I created in Affinity Photo). If I press save, this photo actually replaces the original photo I had targeted for editing in Affinity Photo through extensions. Cancelling brings me back to the original photo in OSX Photos, but unmodified. Environment: Big Sur 11.1 Photos v 6.0 Affinity Photo 1.8.6 iMac 2017 27" Retina with 24Gb RAM
  5. Hi, i've opened a jpg picture in AffinityPhoto an 90% of the Image is transparent. When I open it in Finder or OSX Preview the Image looks normal. In the Layer-section Affinity shows a pixel-layer with Curves an some of the little previews (with the content not displayed) are stricked out. The colorspace of the Image is sRGB (and in AffinityPhoto too). Version 1.8.3 and newest OSX. Thanks a lot Codeneuss
  6. Question: Is it possible to have a 'icon size slider' similar to the one found in MacOS Finder? Issue/situation: I mostly find my documents in 'icon view' but I am not able to increase the icon sizes in the Affinity Photo open document dialog, similar to how I can in the MacOS finder. Is there a way to do so or is this a feature request for Affinity Devs? Attachment: See attached screenshot of the icon size slider for reference. Operating system: OSX Catalina 10.15.3 Affinity Photo: Version 1.8.3 Any help or input on this matter is much appreciated. Thank you in advance. PS: if this post is in the wrong forum, then please let me know, and I will submit it in another.

  8. When trying to rename a style category it takes the one before in the list. Same on delete style category. Affinity Designer 1.8.1 OSX 10.13.6
  9. I still can see the behavior, that in Affinity apps opened image files are locked and thus are not accessable (can't be opened) for other apps like image viewers in parallel. Other applications don't behave this way and grab an exclusive lock.
  10. This may very well be related to a recent system update so apologies if this is nothing to do with Affinity but hoping that someone might have an answer regardless. I updated my Mid 2010 Mac Pro to the latest system it can handle 10.13.6 and I've just noticed that when I go to open a file, if I have the dialogue box set to list view then I no longer get the preview of the file showing at the bottom of the dialogue. Now there is just a thin strip of grey. The only way I can see the files is by going into columnar view (which I don't like using) or by pressing the space bar to preview the images. Problem with that is that the images load very large and so take a lot longer to go through. Was wondering if anyone knows of a way to get that functionality back? If it is Apple that have taken this out then seriously have no idea why as it was really really handy having the image preview at the bottom of the window in list view. Thanks for any help with this. Best wishes, Mark
  11. Hello there, while installing the 1.7.1 Affinity Photo version I get an "Error -36" message. I've search this forum and the internet and couldn't find any solution so far. I am running OSX 10.14.5 on a MacBook Pro mid-2012. The 1.6.x version I had was overwritten and since the installation failed, I am left with nothing. I've already tried the following things: download the installer again reboot my mac and performe a Reset SMC and Reset PRAM run a dot_clean on the installer Nothing worked out so far. Any idea?
  12. hi there. at first, sorry for my poor English. I want to change the app for photo. thus I picked APh up. I have heard it is so great app instead of adobe's one. however, [no compatible GPU] on my MBP(2017 / 15") gonna make me sad. maybe with out gpu accelariton, i can't handle my d810 raw and jpeg files. in fact, without it, it perform terribly!!! what is the reason that my APh can't find GPU?
  13. I enjoy using Affinity Photo on a Mac (OS X 10.12.6). I frequently need to resize a folder of images and run a small macro to place my studio logo on these lower-resolution images for use by the client, post them to social media, etc. I downloaded the update for Affinity Photo v1.6.7, and it's great. But is there still no way to run a batch job on a folder containing both landscape and portrait orientation images and end up with all of them properly resized to the same pixel dimensions without distortion? I saw a discussion about a complex macro for this purpose in another thread. However, this essential function should be included as a basic part of Affinity Photo's capabilities, yes? Has anyone had success with this sort of operation? I really love Affinity Photo and tell all of my pro colleagues about it as a potential replacement for Photoshop, but this simple issue could hold many pros back. Thanks very much for any insight that you developers and experienced users might have.
  14. Hi, I'm on Photo 1.6.6, Mac OS 10.13.3. Just wondering - is there a trick to using the pen tool to draw multiple curves on the same layer? I draw the first curve, and I get image one (stroked to make it a bit clearer). What I'd like to to do is continue drawing on the same layer, to create a second curve. But as soon as I start to draw, Photo creates a second curve layer (image 2). I know that I can now select both layers, pull down the Layers menu and Choose Geometry... Add... (giving me image 3). This gives me what I want to achieve, but I wondered if it was possible to continue to draw additional curves without having to combine the layers afterwards. Thanks H
  15. I'd like to raise awareness to an issue that's bothering me (and apparently a few others) for over a month now. At first I hoped that my muscle-memory would get used to it; but a few hundred raw photos later, it's still as annoying as the first day. I'm referring to the way one can exit/quit/cancel development: it's very counter-intuitive. - It's totally understandable that one cannot proceed editing the image, if it hasn't been developed first. - It's also understandable that the adjustments in the develop persona, cannot be retained, unless the image gets developed. here are the quirks and some workarounds: - If develop persona were implemented as a modal, the Esc key should allow one to... escape. - If develop persona is not a modal and is a window/tab then Cmd+W and Cmd+Q should both allow you to close the document just like pressing the Cancel or X button (of the tab). The current message box when pressing Cmd+Q/W, is not meaningful: it's merely stating that you have to click elsewhere to cancel/close/quit. Why all the hoops and loops? This is particularly inconvenient when having dozens of develop personas open and you decide it's time to quit the application (or close them all). What could had been done with Cmd+Q is now mouse gymnastics! You have to close every develop persona individually, with the mouse, before you can quit the application. - The cancel button, and the X button, shouldn't act differently: As it is, the X button never asks for confirmation, whereas Cancel always does! - when you haven't made any adjustment in the develop persona, canceling should not ask for confirmation. It should be performed silently. - The confirmation should be rephrased. The yes no buttons are not very helpful. Yes, I want to cancel? Yes I understand? Yes I want the file saved? Yes I want it developed? If it were a rare occuring dialog, it would be okay to have and read all the text to know the meaning of Yes/No, but I see this dialog more often than I am asked to save a file, and I guess others too; so the buttons have to be as self-explanatory as possible; or the text as short as possible. eg. "Discard Changes?" Yes/No An example (not the most thought out apparently) follows - it shows two self-explanatory options: "Cancel & Discard" and "resume developing". It could had been "Discard Changes" and "do not discard" or it could even had been 3 buttons such as "Discard Changes", "resume"/"return" and "develop and Save as...", but you get my drift: it needs rephrasing. - Pressing the Esc key while the confirmation is displayed, should work (currently it does nothing). Hope this helps :) -Fotis Now that I got it out of the system,I have to say that I've started to really appreciating the Serif raw engine (and its speed) compared to other raw develop options!!!!
  16. Hi there guys, I have taken a pre-made template by a guy in PSD and converted it to Affinity Designer format, with embeded Icon in 1024 x 1024 which you just double click for editing. I took the idea for embeded editing from another template here for IOS (green tech I think? Thanks!). All credits listed in copyright of the file. To edit, just double click the massive icon and boom. Enjoy, Mart OSX.afdesign
  17. Hi folks, I'm new to mac and I've been looking around for some good photo editing software to use for creating concept art. Affinity looks excellent for its price and I worked with Serif software before switching to mac so I know I'll be using good software. So I'd love the purchase it. But, my mac only has a 32-bit version of Yosemite OSX. I was wondering if the software would still work for what I wanted it for which is mainly painting using a pressure sensitive Wacom tablet. Any advice on this would be great Thanks!

  19. It would be extremely helpful if the file icons for the affinity format showed a thumbnail of the file in the finder like most other image formats, rather than a blank icon. I'm starting to acquire a fair number of Affinity files, and it's a pain to not be able to tell them apart visually... Thanks!
  20. A lot of apps have a custom way of dealing with colors, just like Affinity Designer. But most of those app also support the native OS X color picker, c.f. by giving a simple shortcut in the menu like "Show Colors" to open it. The color picker is an app that's been around for years. Many of us have vast collections of palettes for our projects in this app. With apps like Hues and Colors Pro plus the huge amount of plugins which is available for it, it's still happen to be one of the best ways to manage colors and get in them in our designs. In short: In my eyes this is a mandatory addition.
  21. Team, What is the minimum OS-X Operating System version that Affinity Designer is designed to run on? Thank you in advance for your answer. Max 
