  1. Affinity Photo: To the Executives at Serif. Should you choose to search the forums using the title of this post, you'll get at least 20 hits. Some of those hits include statements about a Digital Asset manager (DAM) in development. These requests/discussions go back to 2015. That's 7 YEARS at the time of this writing. Sooooooo, come on now; what's really going on? Taking 2 covid years out of the timeline still gives you 5 years to respond. Would you not agree that you owe your loyal users a DAM product by now? To the Executive in charge, please give us a release date (some hope). We're getting anxious.
  2. Affinity would be complete if it had a cataloguing / management aspect, where I could import, rate and mark for approval or deletion, batch rename. As it is I'm either stuck switching between Photo Mechanic or the Finder, neither of which is all that useful as compared to the integrated cataloguing function within Lightroom. Unless someone has a better suggestion!
  3. After relocation of project to another folder/another PC, I had to replace all source files one by one. It would be nice if the path could be relative/absolute and after find one source in new location, the rest will be updated automatically.
  4. Due to lack of native solution I present you Spaceman It allows you to backup and restore workspaces of Photo, Designer and Publisher. There's also sync option if you want to have same UI in Publisher personas and standalone applications. Spaceman is command line tool with very straightforward operation, backups are created in folder from where it is started. Feel free to suggest further improvements and give me a shot if you found bug! Edit: There was a problem with compiled .exe so now I'm sharing .bat file instead (and also for peace of mind of @CLC ) Spaceman.bat
  5. Would be nice to have a BRUSH manager for both DESIGNER AND PHOTO. Rather than being stuck with order of import. The ability to save favorite brushes , and rename brush groups! Gary
  6. Hey everyone! When opening Document, Resource Manager, selecting all files and setting them to linked, my document will still be at 109,3MB file size. In fact, before linking the unlinked images, the file had 108MB. So linking even increases file size by a small amount. The Resource Manager will show them as linked and Publisher will report errors when renaming a file. It just doesn't decrease file size. And even when Publisher cannot fint a file, it is still being displayed, instead of an error frame, which I would expect. Is this a known issue? It seems it shouldn't be since there is a tutorial on the website for this. I am using High Sierra. Best wishes, Shu
  7. Hello everyone ! Happy to share this with you today; Yes i'm back because power outage was fixed in my suburb but only for few hours then we may go back into ... no power at all for the time or number of days they decide . Not a problem at all as opportunity is given and i take it on both hands. Now let's move ! --------------------------------------------------------------------------- My Review and propositions for Affinity Designer 1.7.0.2 (also applicable to Affinity Photo and Publisher too) Well the new Affinity Designer load faster than what I've seen up to now and i'm really really happy with it and can just imagine how great would be the final version. Brushes are more fluid and easy to use and they flow in more natural way, it's simply a pleasure to make use of it. BUT !, because there is always a but in stages like this ! These are the few problems or difficulties i had with (that is existing since old versions): Brushes Loading was really fast (just drag and drop and click Ok) .afassets, .afpalette, and .afstyles still can't be added or loaded to the software by selecting them from the file browser using the drag and drop method. From the import window opening i can only select one item after another, would be very useful if select all is activated allowing to select everything compatible within the same folder then just click Ok/Add for the software start loading them. My Proposition to the above problem this is a proposition i have for the above problem i encountered and still encounter: Well, to me a good Fix would bean Assistant working similar to a font manager but a bit differently. It would ask the user where is the folder with desired stuffs to load then that kind of resource manager would scan that folder looking for everything compatible (palettes, brushes, styles, macros, etc.) then display it in a list (like when we try to add PS stuffs on Affinity) they would be classified by categories with level of usability and trust (orange, green and red etc.), from that place we would make our choice to activate and/or approve whatever we want (on a column with check boxes ON/OFF) and the software would just load our choice then after it is done we would receive a DONE message. That solution would make it even simple and take less minutes than leaving it to us to manually load them one by one and could be very helpful even for those using the iPad version and who have their stuffs somewhere on the iCloud. Please think about this, it may save lives. This is what I like from the new (affinity Photo) beta version : The icon used on the top bar to indicate the different personas are far away better than what Affinity had, it's more refined and i personally feel better looking at it, now left the tools icons, they need a refresh like you did with the personas icons: Please implement it on the next Affinity Designer, they are simple and beautiful. This is what i believe Serif should start thinking about or add in this beta cycle: 1- A rotate on plane functionality that will help us to rotate subjects such as shapes, beveled/extruded texts, curves etc... thus moving one step close to a real 3D capability 2- Make Designer more capable of making UI/UX with new functions or simply revised functions and why not bringing the Prototyping Persona where all prototyping for Ui/UX guys to feel at home and create the best they can or want. 3- The Fill Tool used to create gradient must now become curvable, allowing the user that create a gradient to also bend it or curve it in one or another direction or even or draw circles or complex lines with it, to me, it will make it possible to create the "up to now" impossible multicolored curved gradient that ever existed (maybe it does exist somewhere else and just don't know about... ) Well, that's everything i wanted to share with you and even bring up to light, may you have advice or corrections, please feel free, it will help us all grow ! Blessings !
  8. When I select "Resource Manager..." from the document menu, nothing happens. I have used it before to swap out images, but now it won't even open. It's not just on one document. I tried opening a new doc and I got the same result. Win 10 64bit, Publisher Beta 1.7.0.227
  9. Hey, please make the Resource Manager available to the Studio palettes for better integration in the UI. I need it right by my side all the time like the Layers and Pages panels. Please also add more options to pieces of information like Color Space, Transparency, Rotation, Dimensions, File Path etc already in the list. Cheers Benny
  10. Affinity is great as photo editor but I miss of a photo organizer, or asset manager, to classify, rank, put stars, organize, make named collections, sort, search , filter and so on....
  11. I was using the snapping manager and while looking for the preset menu and it does not seem to be available. Its available in the flyout menu but not available in the floating option pallet when you activate it from the View > snapping manager screen. Shouldn't it be available in both views? I like to float it while I am making adjustments sometimes.
  12. Hi, tried a search and didn't find any info on the status of the brush manager. My assumption is it's not ready for primetime hence the "BETA"tag. Just checking, it's looks like it's going to be epic though. Cheers!
