  1. Hi all, I noticed that the Gamma over levels adjustment layer has a max limit of 2, while working on 32 bit you need a gamma of 2.2 when importing assets that are not in linear mode. Cheers, Juan
  2. When adjusting R,G&B channels in Levels panel, how does one toggle a preview on & off (original / new) to confirm/adjust my changes (like "preview" in the Photoshop Levels panel? "merge" is the same as "okay"? thanks, lettergothic
  3. When using the new Levels, it seems to map to Curves with the old Black Level and White Level moving the left and right nodes horizontally, and the new Output Black Level and Output White Level moving the Curves nodes vertically. All well and good. But it gets a bit odd when using them together. Move Black Level and Output Black Level up the same amount and you seem to return to the original image, rather than having the black point shifted and it being a big whiter overall. I've tested this on PS (CS6) and it seems to work 'correctly' there. Here's a video showing what I mean.
  4. This one is probably more for the photo team, but since I've found this in Publisher and haven't had a chance to test the new Photo beta yet I'm posting this here in case it's Publisher specific. Option+dragging a slider in the Levels dialog in the RGB setting always shows a completely black image for me when dragging the black point and a white image for the white point instead of accurately showing the usual clipping preview image with a threshold effect. In LAB mode, Option+dragging the Luminosity slider shows a black image with some of the chrominance information on top. Dragging the slider does not change the clipping preview image at all. Double-clicking a slider to reset it also doesn't work, but I'm not sure if that feature was ever there in the past. Moreover, there seems to be no way to use precise 8-bit/16-bit or floating point values in the numeric input fields, only a percentage. This might be required when images need to comply to a precise standard such as broadcast limits, old-school screen printing processes that don't work with ICC profiles, or when performing operations that need to be reversed exactly by a layer on top (say, when trying to preserve detail when using a third-party 3D LUT that has an excessive linear contrast operation built in) and so on.
  5. I have a color image that I want to reduce the color on. It is too saturated. I don't want Black & White but less color so it approaches black & black. The topic in the Help for Selective Color Adjustment is not helpful. It doesn't say where to find the Selective Color adjustment.
  6. Hi, I'm rather new to Affinity Photoshop- I'm not amazingly experienced in Adobe Photoshop, but I'm way more familiar with that.... I recently began shooting color negative film and dislike the color correction in my scanners software and the Vuescan software and wanted to learn how to do it myself in photoshop. I found a tutorial online, however, I cannot figure out how to do the "Levels Clipping Mask," ...here is the tutorial: https://petapixel.com/2017/02/01/edit-color-film-negatives-photoshop/ Basically, I know from the Affinity help page that I can press the "alt" key when I'm adjusting the Black and White levels when I'm in specific colors such as red or blue, but it just turns my image either all black or all white, and I'm not sure how to make it actually work like it's supposed to? It seems to do the job when I do it on the Master for the RGB levels, but not any specific color? Am I doing something wrong? I hope this makes sense! Thanks! -Jenny
  7. Please add a histogram with sliders to the levels adjustment just like in the desktop version.
  8. I am quite a new user still finding his way around Affinity Photo. I have just hit an odd problem. The dialogs for levels or white balance adjustment will not appear. Normally I can click on the icon in the layer and the dialog will appear so that I can adjust it. Today, nothing happens when I do that. Also if I add a new Levels Adjustment layer (with the menus of Ctrl+L), a layer appears in the list of layers but the dialog to set the levels does not. Similarly for the white balance adjustment layer. I have tried resetting the studio, restarting, even rebooting, but none of these have helped. I am using Windows 10.

Hi gang, here we go again. I drew this when I was 10. A year before my 1979 Kmart Christmas illustration, recently posted here, I created this similar scene for the cover of my school’s Holiday Activity booklet. Again, among my sketches & drawings was an old printout. Recoloring my Kmart illustration motivated me to retouch this for one reason: the faded booklet contains puzzles, poems, essays and drawings from my old classmates, some of whom are Facebook friends. My plan is to mildly retouch all 12 pages and PDF it as a gift to my grade school buddies. I think they’ll get a kick outa this blast from the past with their 5th grade contributions.
  10. Hi, could it be possible to add some button for Leves adjustments eg. "Auto" or "Max" or "Auto-Max" which would move Black and White Level (separately) to the max till there is Zero value on the histogram. It is hard to check from the histogram the Zero values not to loose information. Sometimes it would be very useful ;) Thanks Jindra
  11. Hi, I have a number of Photoshop files with levels as adjustment layers. When I open them in Affinity Photo, the adjustment layer is retained, but the level settings from Photoshop are ignored - they are set to default. An example file is attached (as a .zip). Using Affinity Photo on Mac OSX 10.12.4 The Thames at Hampton.psd.zip
  12. I found quite serious bug that makes Levels unusable for non-Master channels. Layer > New Adjustment Layer > Levels Adjustment [Ctrl+L] Change channel to anything but Master. (Colorspace doesn't matter) Change any value (Black Level, White Level or Gamma) using slider or input box. (After inputting value you have to lost focus from the current input box, e.g. by clicking mouse outside the input box or by pressing Tab.) You're seeing unwanted switch to Master channel. Affinity Photo 1.5.1.54, Windows 7 Pro x64, non-HiDPI laptop display [1600x900]
  13. I use level adjustments all the time. In the Photoshop levels adjustment there are the input settings and gamma setting at the top but at the bottom there are also output settings. I do use all of them at different times. Is there a way to adjust the output settings in Photo similar to how they would be adjusted in PS? I'm fine if it requires a different adjustment layer, although it would be great if it was located inside the levels adjustment. Cheers! Jeff
  14. Version 1.5.1.54 Windows Using LEVELS Adjustment, RGB selected, then choose channel RED, and as soon as the Black, or White slider is moved the histogram for RED changes back to the Master histogram. Same for Green and Blue channels. Can no longer adjust individual changes. See attached screen captures.
  15. Hello all I was trying to adjust levels as i did on PS, example minute 2:40 of the video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7PNLdQvJEhg but i cannot adjust on red/green/blue, when i try to do it change to Master channel, is there another way to do it? Second question: Is it possible to adjust levels by selecting black/white pixel? Many thanks in advance
  16. It is great to have the ability to save presets in the layer adjustments, but I cannot find any option to load these presets  I read in the help/manual and it says "right click" within the adjustment window, but nothing happens on a right click. How can I load a preset???
  17. Hi Folks, Just curious if these are going to be added in? Cheers! John
  18. In Affinity Photo, Levels should have Clip black and Clip white sliders. It's very useful when you need the image in a certain range, especially when creating textures for 3D work.
  19. While I'm just getting to grips with Affinity, and this may already exist, the biggest stumbling block I've hit is not being able to select the white or black levels from the image itself as you can in Photoshop - as in, being able to hit that furtherest white option, and then flicking on the part of the image you want to be 'pure' white. Not being able to instantly select the background as white when what I'm mostly doing is making the background of an image white for product photography is really jarring. It's not enough to turn me away from the product, entirely because I can't afford any Adobe products, but it's definitely turned me away from using Affinity Photo for any photo I have with a white background at the moment. I would definitely rather see the final product with that level of precision in the levels adjustment layer than without it.
Viel Spaß wünscht Euch Euer Jack In this Affinity Photo Tutorial, I show you from my serie photo optimization how to improve a photo. There are no great effects, but many details which hopefully improve the result. This is a photo against the sun with lens flare. I use the HDR method. Without the upcoming HDR Persona Have fun your Jack Foto / photo: eigenes / self made Link to YouTube Tutorial

  22. I need to edit product pictures taken on white background in my photo studio so the white background is 100% white. I usually do this in Photoshop with the levels panel. I use the eyedropper inside the Ps levels panel and click in the picture on the white background. Ps changes the levels automatically so the white background becomes 100% white. This functionality I need in Affinity Photo but the levels panel has no eyedropper. Sliding the levels pointers doesn't give me a pure white background. I need a way to tell where the white pixels are that need to become pure white. Is there another workaround I can use to adapt the pictures from my photo studio so white becomes pure white? Thanks for helping me out.
  23. Hi there, I read that on Levels adjustment, Gamma is for midtones, white is for highlights and black is for shadows. But in photoshop, there is a place to input values (two boxes) on output levels(inside levels adjustments). I didn't find that in Affinity photo's levels adjustment. Where should I put the values placed in output levels in affinity photo? (I was trying out some effects I learned via youtube videos, but I don't know on what to do with the value they put in output levels area) Thanks in advance
  24. I appreciate the increased functionality of the second beta, but was dissapointed that the auto funtions were removed. Why remove functionality? Yes, the increased functionality is useful to sophisticated users, but even being modestly sophisticated I found the auto levels, contrast, white point convenient and superior to that which Photos was able to do. Wouldn't it be easy to add them back?
  25. Hi, Just starting out evaluating the AP trial against my current editor (PS CS6). Very impressed so far; hugely impressed with your work. I primarily use Curves and Levels adjustment masks in my work. Using a Levels adjustment mask in PS CS6 and adjusting the Black and White levels, I can see a full-image clipping indication mask if I hold down ALT while adjusting. This is a really helpful tool. Is there an equivalent for this in AP? I tried holding down ALT while adjusting black/white sliders but there was no effect. I also tried the other modifier keys (Shift, Cmd etc), but also no effect. I'm using AP Trial v1.3.5 on a late 2012 Mac Mini running OS X 10.10.5. Many thanks, Matt
