Hi all, On Affinity designer for Ipad, how would you merge two pixel layers: I started a drawing. I accidentally finished the drawing in a different pixel layer. Now I still want the drawing all in one layer. I've been looking everywhere, and I can't find something where I can merge down one layer into the other. Actually, I think this has been asked before, but they mention a 'Rasterize' action that I can't find (and also, I'm reluctant to rasterize a pixel layer)

Hi, Most of the time when i use the layer palette and when i want to enable/disable visibility of a layer, i have to constantly fight with the scroller (see my caps). It's kind of annoying because i have to wait or move/come back the mouse to be able to tick it. Dont you think that it would be nice to move those buttons a few to the left ? The same thing happens in designer too. Please forgive my crummy english :)

When I use layers -> merge selection, the layer on top is marge as if it was under ... (ctrl + Maj + E). -
New to affinity photo. i have few question - 1. how to control click thumbnail in layer its select the layer contains in affinity photo like photoshop ? 2 - where is color picker window ? 3 - plz enable alt/ctrl back space foe fill color 4 - how to reduces size of anchor point ? because i cant view the small text ? The UI presentation between masking and clipping layers needs to be improved. The difference is too minor and too similar. When working with a lot of layers, this becomes even more difficult to see.

Hi, when exporting an image with an adjustment layer, PDF output doesn't use adjustment layer ; jpg or png do see the 3 files afpub, pdf, png -> afpub and png are red, pdf is black like my original image Thank you Cyril Sans titre.afpub Sans titre.pdf

I got a problem I got a photo and make a Selection on then I go to the other panel to duplicate to a new layer but doesn't work, sometimes duplicate but the hole photo even when the Selection is there can someone help me IMG_0014.MP4 -
A bit of a weird one. When I create a new layer and double click the title to rename it, if I type the new layer name too quickly the app seems to commit to the new name before I've even finished typing it. This seems to be especially prevalent when I try and rename it with anything starting with the letter "S". For instance, if I make a new layer and I want to rename it "Skyline", I double click the default name "(Pixel)" and quickly start typing "Skyline" I only get as far as "Sky" before it commits to the renaming. So I end up with a layer prematurely called "Sky" and accidentally proceed to toggle all of the keyboard shortcuts for the remaining characters in the word "L I N E" while thinking I'm still busy typing out the layer name. Hopefully this makes some kind of sense! Please let me know if you need more info.

Hi, there seems to be no "one click" way to resize/scale a layer or vector object to the current canvas size. I would love to see this as an option when adding a layer/asset or as a button on the transform tool context bar, because I often have to manually resize assets or new layers when dragging/dropping objects to a document. Seems it would take just little effort to implement this and would incredibly reduce the amount of manual adjustments. What do you think? This feature was already suggested some times as in the threads listed below but it seems there is no easy way to achieve the desired result:

Copying scanned linework from one document to another. Just copy paste a few times, and then merging the layers down. The image gets blurred more and more each time I merge the layer down. Is there something I can do to prevent this from happening? I work with black & white pencil drawings a lot, and need to preserve the gritty feel of the lines.

I often move layers around, in affinity photo it is not easy to move layers up, often I drop it into a sub layer. Is it possible to tap and hold and have the option to move layer to top or just up. Rgds, Henk Brouwer

I'm trying to expand or collapse a set of selected layers/groups from the Layers Studio, but Affinity apps don't allow me to do this en masse. My file has over 700 layers/groups and this is VERY tedious. Could you please add this functionality, in the same way changing visibility or locking layers en masse currently functions? Simply put, if I have a bunch of layers selected and I click the triangle to expand or collapse, apply that toggle to ALL selected layers, just like Visibility and Lock icons do. Another level of functionality for power users would include expanding or collapsing ALL layers/groups (even those nested within currently selected layers/groups) while holding down the Option or Control keys on the keyboard. These small things really make a huge difference in speed of workflow and productivity. Thanks for your consideration and all you do! -
It would be great if there are options for copying, pasting, disabling and removing layer effects by right clicking on a layer. I know layer effects can removed by clicking on the fx icon and unchecking the boxes. What do you think friends? -
Affinity Publisher close down when deleting layer

Want to delete one layer (grey square). But as soon as I try to software closes down. Tried this several times. Already de-installed programme and started new installation. But failure still exists. Can not work on file anymore. Any idea or help. newsletter.afpub -
I'm consistently having an issue in Affinity Photo in which adjustments (such as applying a mask, or cropping) apply to the entire image, and not just the selected layer. This happens regardless of whether the "Edit All Layers" button is checked or not. Is this a bug, or is something wrong in my preferences? -
There doesn't seem to be a way to merge an adjustment layer with the vector objects it is applied to. I already made a post asking about how to accomplish this here: But there doesn't seem to be a practical way to do it. This is frustrating because the HSL layer, for example, is an amazing way to recolor your artwork that is rendered almost useless when you can't merge it with the vector objects it is applied to. Adobe Illustrator has had a recolor feature for years and the only reason I'm not making the switch to AD is this. Merging adjustment layers would fix this issue completely and would be an amazing (and logical) addition to AD. -
I know that I can duplicate a layer by cmd + drag. However this does not seem to work in the players panel. This is a very handy feature in illustrator as it allows to duplicate a layer without moving it and immediatly changing the order of it. I know I can cmd + j do duplicate and move it afterwards, but since this is a very often used thing, it makes working quite annoying. Please add this.- 1 reply

It would be really helpful if I could copy layer effects to another layer, like in Illustrator. Copy: alt + drag the fx icon (on layer) to a new layer and the effects should be copied. Very often, e.g. when using outlined text this is necessary. Move: drag fx icon (on layer) from one layer to another layer (e.g. to move effects from a layer to parent group

With CTRL+left click on a layer icon it is possible to create a selection from the contents of this layer. In PS (I know, AP is not PS...) you can use SHIFT or ALT as modifiers for adding to, subtracting from or intersecting with an existing selection. I would like to see this in AP, too. For adding two or more layers to a single selection there is at least a workaround: make a group from the layers you want the selection from and CTRL+left click the group layer icon to get a selection made of the "summed up" content of each of the grouped layers. However I haven't either figured out a way to realize the other operations or how to modify an existing selection with "selection from layer". -
Two critical bugs when exporting a file as a PSD file. 1. Any layer marked hidden in Affinity Photo shows up in the exported PSD file as empty. 2. In the exported PSD file, all layers are clipped to the size of the canvas in the Affinity Photo document. The first bug can be worked around by unhiding the layer before export. A pain but doable until fixed. The second bug is fatal. We are looking at buying about 10 licences to deploy Affinity Photo to our team but we have to maintain compatibility with Photoshop as some work will go outside where that is their design package. So any layer that extends beyond the canvas in a document is rendered useless by Affinity Photo clipping to the canvas. This means we will have to look for an alternate application. Which is a real frustration as AP does so many things so very well. Can you hyper-escalate this bug to the development team and provide some kind of workaround in the interim? By the way, importing of PSD files—some with some pretty esoteric filters, adjustment layers, masks, etc.—works very well in Photo. Kudos for that guys. Affinity Photo 1.7.3 on macOS 10.14.6.

Hey there! I have a lot of layers in some of my documents and occasionally find myself having to tap tap tap tap tap opening and closing groups of layers to find the layer I just selected. A button to show the layer in the hierarchy would probably save me a bunch of time! Perhaps there is already such feature? Adriaan

Hey. I study Affinity designer. Tell me, please, how to configure the export to PDF or EPS so that the layers and groups remain in place? I grouped the elements into groups and layers in the iPad app, but they ungrouped when exported to EPS or PDF

Hi, i have just tried the Affinity Photo trial, please move this topic if i'm posting in a wrong section. I have two problems with AP during the limited time i used it, first of all, the patterns break when loading a PSD file, i'm not sure if this has been addressed elsewhere or if there's a workaround for this as i'm very new to the software and i couldn't figure out a way to get it working, short of recreating the pattern and trying to apply it in a similar way as it was looking before. Was this an issue with my particular instalation/software/hardware configuration or is this an issue you are aware of/working on resolving? The second issue i had goes a bit deeper, so in... Affinity Photo's biggest competitor... you can apply multiple layer effects of the same kind to the same layer, allowing you to create for example two outlines or a gradient glow/shadow. I didn't find anything of that nature in this program, furthermore PSD files i opened with AP that had multiple layer effects applied to them broke, not permanently, just didn't display properly. You know what i mean. Maybe that option is already there but i was just not able to find it, and then why would imported files break if that was the case? Is this also something you are working on resolving? Overall i was very pleasantly surprised with the program, the workflow was pretty similar to what i'm used to, might even consider giving it a shot past screwing around with a few files and effects on a trail version but those two issues just sprung up on me during the first time i tested it and they are a pretty big deal to me. I don't know if that's an official statement but i've read many times in reviews and recommendations of the program that it is able to properly interpret complex PSD files without issues and breaking patterns and layer effects are a pretty big issue in my workflow.
