[ADe] Contour setting for effects

I've been trying to recreate some older work in AD but I'm deeply missing the Contour setting for shadows and glows. I couldn't find anything similar reading the Help topics. This would be analog to the Photoshop feature where you can specify a graph for how the intensity of the effect changes over its spread. This is a picture from an old PS version just to illustrate the setting.

Summary: Would love to see the ability to color code layers with a set of premade colors. This would affect the Layers UI, not the image itself. Usage: A great way of organizing layers. I can color code all my text layers Blue, all my painted layers Red, some special effects layers green. Then when I am trying to find those layers inside a 300 layer file, it's easier to find them then by name alone. Thanks! - Neil

Hello, I would like to suggest a couple features for layer management. The first being able to click and drag down the column of checkboxes (layer visibility) and be able to toggle them on and off in the process. Targeting each individual layer can be tedious and time consuming. This would also be a great function to add to the locking of layers. Also, being able to alt+click one specific layers checkbox to turn the visibility off of all other layers, accept the one clicked. Thanks!

Hello, need some advice with refining selections and mask layer. - After selection with the selection brush I saved the selection as mask layer. But the mask isn't within the background instead it will be a separate layer. The tutorial "refining mask" shows the mask within the background layer (3.12 minute). Of course I can drag the mask layer into the background layer. - The tutorial shows with right click "refine mask" I can again edit the mask layer. Tried it with CTRL (I have no right click option with the apple mouse) a menu open but "refine mask" is not there. Thanks

Hello, need some assistance. - Exporting a masked object always the whole "page" with white background is visible. I tried as tiff and png-24. Enclosed is the file, only the blue rectangle should be visible. Opening the file in photoshop as tiff the channel isn't there. - Is it possible to add a blank layer, means that the background is clear not white, coverage remains 100% Thanks in advance Test.afphoto

Can some one tell me what the difference is between a fill layer and a pixel layer, if there is a difference? The one difference that I know of is that when a fill layer is used you can continue to edit a gradient but on a pixel layer you can't. cheers, Jason -
Since I don't want to mark everthing I don't get within AP as a bug I post my question here ... maybe someone has got an idea ... (Final Version 1.5.1.54, AP Windows) Dealing with this picture. There's only one pixel layer visible and activated, The paintbrush is selected. The mixmode is normal and selected colours are black & white as can bee seen in the tool panel. Now painting on the pixel layer with the brush gives my this result (painting in white): switching to black looks like this: I have no idea what goes wrong ... Maybe someone can help. Cheers, Timo

In photoshop or other software when i select a shape or a layer. It focuses that shape or layer in the layer panel. Let's say i select a circle. The circle layer get's highlighted and is brought to my layer panel view even if it is down somewhere not in focus. But in AD windows when i select something, the layer panel doesn't focuses on the layer selected. I have to scroll through the whole layer and find that layer. Is this only for me? -

Hello everyone! I've got some questions about shortcuts in Affinity Photo and Designer: 1.: I read that ctrl + shift + tab is supposed to let me jump to the next file. But for whatever reason, this only works sometimes. Is there a different way to jump to the next / previous file? Could I be doing something wrong? 2.: Is there a way to select the layer above / below the currently selected one? I am working on OSX 11.6 using Designer 1.5.1 and Photo 1.5.1. Thanks for any help! Hello, I'm making a slice of a circle with an icon inside of it, the problem is when I try to export the slice, it only shows the circle layer, it does not show the contents on top of the circle. What am I doing wrong? I can't seem to have the contents inside the circle show as being exported with the slice. How do I just have everything inside of the slice export? Thanks -
Hi, is there some kind of clone layer in Affinity Photo/Designer that simply duplicates another layer with the possibility to transform it (Edit: And changes to the source layer are applied on the fly)? Regards, Irrgeist

Hi folks. I have been working with the beta for windows, and once it has gone on sale I bought it. Just a couple of things: In the layers panel there are a couple of icons that would be very useful, to solve with a click actions that are frequently used: - Duplicate layer. - Combine selected layers. On the other hand, some sliders, especially the exposure adjustment, and others, have a very abrupt increase in values in response to the mouse, its difficult to make small value changes with the mouse. And the response to the sliders is not homogeneous between different settings, nor between different modes of development (for example in Lightroom this answer is similar in all settings) I do not know if there is a way to adjust this as a user, otherwise you should throw it a look. Hey, So in Photoshop you can Ctrl click a layer and use either Alt, Shift, and Alt+Shift (on Windows) to allow the subtracting, adding or selecting the intersection of the current selection. This is really handy for creating masks and composite shapes. I know in Affinity Photo that you can Ctrl click a layer to select the opaque area, but using the keyboard modifiers doesn't seem to do anything else. Is there another way to do what I do in Photoshop in Affinity Photo? Cheers, Mark -
1. How to change rulers units? 2. How to move rulers center point? 3. I have layers A, B, C alt+left mouse button on layer A = layer A is only visible layer If I want to restore all other layers than I have to choose another layer from the list and than back to layer A. Is that purposeful or it's an AP "error"? 4. In photoshop I can change brush size with shortcut: alt+ drag right mouse button. Is it possible to enable that function in AP? -
I need the basic function just drag layer objects across the open tab files. And when hold the shift key and drag it, the layer objects will be paste in same position. Please consider.

Using Windows Photo Beta and having copied an area to a new pixel layer. Placing the Rotation Centre cursor in the desired spot on the new pixel layer and double clicking will not hold the rotation center in desired position, immediately returning to center of selection. This error is repeatable nad has only held for me twice in many attempts. -
Sorry can someone tell me how to add an adjustment layer directly to my selected layer without having to drag it back down to it manually? Thanks and sorry for such a basic question. -
Affinity Designer - Windows Beta 1.5.0.7 Feature: Solo a Layer Generally, when working I have a ton of layers. It would be helpful to have a way too "solo" a single layer or folder. E.g. right clicking (or option clicking) on the visibility check box or something at the top of the layer panel. With this feature, I could quickly edit the points or elements on something without seeing all the other layers. A lot of times I'm just trying to find the layer that I need to edit. And right now, I go one by one turning on/off layers and searching the screen to see what changed.

I am looking for the One Click Switch with which a new layer is inserted exclusively from/with the contents of the selected area. Extremely inscrutable, for me. @edit Ah. CTRL-J for copy an new layer.... ;) ______ BTW. Already in Photoshop not optimal. A cloning tool with uncomplicated adjustment of source and destination The source and destination symbol should be designed so, that show two identical symbols (in size and shape). The important advantage: aligning both symbols for maximum precision and synchronization is much better. Sample (from excellent Micrografx Picture Publisher) : Left source, right desination. And the best. During hold SHIFT, the source symbol remains fixed and the destination symbol can be freely adjusted. That would be very fine!

I'm either incredibly dense, or, there's no provision to open (or reopen) the Layers panel. For example, under the 'Text' menu we see 'Show Character', 'Show Typography', 'Show Paragraph', etc. Selecting any aforementioned menu item opens - with miraculous efficiency - the corresponding options panel, as one might expect. It appears there's no such option available to open (or reopen) the Layers panel when looking under the 'Layers' menu. Am I overlooking the 'Show Layers' option that should be in the Layers (or some other) menu?

When using the Ctrl + Shift - click layer thumbnail shortcut it creates a selection of the entire image rather than the luminance value. I have AP on Mac and this is one of my go to methods when editing images. Thanks, Ber -
Hi there. I´ve just instaled the Windows beta of Affinity Photo, and i am now trying to adapt my workflow. I would like to know how to open a group of images directly as layers. I´ve googled a little and tried to open as new stack (ctrl+alt+O) but in this way the layers are automatically anchored and mixed. I just want to open them as layers in order to work with them with adjustment layers and luminosity masks. How do I do it? Otherwise, fabulous work, congratulations. Thank you. -
Hi I miss the feature thats I can dublicate Layer with drag an drop on Icon "Add Pixel Layer". (Putt Layer on Icon) I know i can do with [Ctr]+[J] or right click. Dany

In Photoshop it is possible to select all with CTRL+A and then detach what you have selected from the current layer instead of duplicating that layer by selecting CTRL+SHIFT+J. You can also detach other elements from a layer this way that you have selected prior. This needs to be possible in Affinity as well. Thanks.
