  1. It would be great, if layers could be searched and auto-selected. This would allow to add filters for multiple layers (with the same or partial same names) in one go. Currently his can be done, but all layers have to be selected manually. Chris
  2. Hi i am Ansori from indonesia i want to make a design for mikrostock wesbsite (shutterstock, adobestock, freepic etc) and i cant keep the perfect layer name and group, i hope affinity designer customer can repair it (please) and one again please add smart fill toll like CorelDraw or shape builder toll like affinity. . Ihope you understand my languange, thanks from me Ansori
  3. hi all, im have a noob question, what is a little vertical bar in painel?
  4. Hey guys, I was thinking of a pretty useful feature that I'd personally use a lot When you lock a layer, you can't select it unless you click on it in the layers panel. That's a bit time consuming since you can't press Ctrl+K to find it. How about a shortcut to select layers that are locked, directly on stage? For example you have a rectangle on stage, and you press S+Mouse_Button_Left to select a layer that's locked? That would be pretty awesome. Cheers
  5. The object was created in one layer. I created another layer, drew some other objects. The first object though with stroke and fill just disappear, even in the outline view. The only way I can select it is to go to the layer to select but still it is not visible. I have to drag that particular layer on top so the object become visible. I have attached the clip if the explanation is uncleared. What is the problem? selection.mov
  6. While it is possible to see a rubylith overlay for quick masks, it is not possible when just editing a mask. This is useful because it can useful to know what areas of the image the mask is operatintg on and allows better control over the editing of masks
  7. Hey guys, I get this bug from time to time, can't really be sure what it's related too, and I can't really reproduce it on purpose. Basically, at some point, all (sometimes not all) the thumbnails that should appear in the LAYERS panel are gone, like the layers/groups are empty. I added 2 screenshots. Thanks
  8. One can set the blend mode on an adjustment layer to for example Darken, and this results in the original layer and the live adjustment of it being blend together with Darken. Same for live filter layers. However I would like to take a series of adjustments and live filters, do all of them in a sequence on a pixel layer and then take the resulting adjusted image and blend with the original using some blend mode like Darken. Or for example take a blur layer, an invert layer and then apply the composition of these two with Vivid light blending to the original. The only way I can achieve visually what I am looking for is to duplicate the pixel layer, put the adjustments & filters on it and set a blend mode on it. However the layer duplication step makes the result a static filter, which no longer reflects changes in the original pixel layer. I was expecting that putting just the live filter and the adjustment layer into a layer group and then setting blend mode on the layer group achieves this non-destructively, but layer groups doesn't seem to work like this. Look at the screenshots, my expectation is to see the same image in the two cases. Is there some way to achieve this non-destructively?
  9. The quality of image became worse after merging 2 layers. (attached video) Is that a weakness point of the Affinity Photo on MacOS ? or due to my mistake? merge_layer_blur.mov
  10. Could we please have a keypress to select the parent of the currently selected object? This would allow for fast navigation within the Layers tree and adds a fine grained version of the Select All command, progressively expanding the current selection from a single object, up through the current group, layer, artboard, and document. Thanks for your consideration.
  11. Hey guys, When exporting to psd, the layers, if they are not named in Affinity, get export with the name Layer, followed by a number (Layer1, Layer2, etc) It would be great if the default layer names would actually get export as well. For example, if I don't name a layer that's a Curve, it would get exported with the name Curve, not Layer1. Thank you
  12. Hallo, I want to add an outer glow to a text. Found a few resources saying that there is an outer and inner glow layer effect. However I cannot find these effects in the software. I searched in Layer - Live Filter Layers (german: "Neue Live-Filterebene") but could not find these filters. Where can I find these. Thanks in advance and regards - Ulrich
  13. Is there any way that Select by luminosity of Layer can be recorded in a macro. E.g. Ctrl, Shift an left clicking the layer gives you a selection based on luminosity (the brightest pixels) However if you try to record this as a part of a macro you get a warning that states layer selections cannot be recorded as macro. Basically, we should be able to record every action we do in a macro as in Photoshop. Come on Serif this is a basic requirement. Cheers in anticipation
  14. In a large AD doc it appears that I have reached the limit of objects (ellipses) or Art Texts that can be edited under one top layer. I may be wrong, but I ran into the problem of not being able to select an object or a text to edit in such a "heavy" object laden layer. At first I thought it might be a memory problem so I closed AD and brought up the doc again, but the problem persisted. As soon as I moved this sub-layer from its position under a top layer (together with other sub-layers with their objects) and made this sub-layer a top layer itself, the objects in this top layer could be selected and edited. This makes me think that there might be a limit to objects under a top layer. If there is a limit, could you suggest the limit of objects under a top layer? Thanks.
  15. I have an image where some parts need sharpening and some parts need denoising or smoothing. The obvious way to do this is to create a mask that divides the image into these two component parts. No problem, I create an edge mask as a new layer and refine it appropriately. I could now duplicate my original image and sharpen one version (using Nik Sharpener) and denoise the other using Nik DFine. The mask should now be able to ensure that what I see is partly sharpened and partly denoised. But I cannot see how I can place the mask I have created to perform this task. I Because sharpening and denoising are fairly subtle, I have been practicing on an an image and a desaturated version, and a layer comprising several vertical black-and-white stripes so that I should be able to see a fairly obvious mask effect. I have tried following various videos and on-line guides typically involving moving the stripy mask into a position on one of the layers, but what I see is always either the stripy mask or no effect at all. The image below shows what I see before trying to place the mask. Any advice gratefully received. John
  16. I have a layer of place names on a map. I've applied 'MyStyle 1' to them all as I've typed them in. I can change their look by just editing 'MyStyle 1'. So far, so good. If I click the layer, all the place names are selected but if I try to now apply 'MyStyle 2' to them it doesn't work. I have to actually select all the items in the layer to change the applied style. That doesn't seem quite right to my way of thinking. Is this a bug, are the correct way of working?
  17. Hey all, I've been lurking on these forums for a while since I purchased Photo and Designer. I've also been using Serif software since the early 2000's starting with PhotoPlus 6.0 I think. Loving the software and looking forward to all the new stuff in the works. I came across a problem with cropping an image on a single layer. Every time I would crop, it would crop the entire canvas. I played with the software a bit and was able to come up with a quick way to crop an image on a single layer without affecting the others. I don't know if this information exists somewhere else on this forum but I could not find it anywhere. Please see the video below if you're interested: If anyone has any other ideas for tutorials I'm open to suggestions. Thanks, Collin
  18. Hi. At the bottom right corner of the screen in Affinity Photo, there is only one layer option, the pixel layer option. There were both options for layers mere hours ago. How could I get it back? Thanks. draeko
  19. Hi guys, At the moment I'm fighting with the theme of assets, symbols and grouping in the Affinity Designer. Compared to the illustrator, Affinity has revolutionized the handling of symbols and I am "relatively" satisfied with the available tools, but there is still room for improvement! I've been looking for the same ideas for a long time. There are many suggestions with different content and it is very difficult to follow them, so I do not know whether there have been similar proposals or not. So, let's go! With the identical objects I was able to help myself with assets and symbols, but when it comes to working on other forms in a group simultaneously, it's over with fun. Replacing symbols or objects with inheritance of their original size and position is not possible in Affinity Designer or I haven't found a function for it yet. I have found a good example of how such a thing can or has been realized in Microsoft Powerpoint (2013). It is not a real illustration program but the simple way to modify objects is unsurpassed! Please have a look at the examples here and I am curious about your review. Is this a "Nice to Have" feature for you or a feature that allows you to work quickly, effectively and flexibly? Or is such a feature already in your portfolio? Here you will find some visual examples without the generation of symbols "cloning" like in AD: Objects can be modified individually or together in a group. Different objects can be modified together Objects can be replaced together or independently. The size, position and rotation of the original object is taken over. Just a very simple drawing like the pentaptych or tryptichon is a challenge in AD An example of how PowerPoint works. Try to do this in AD with symbols at the same time and then replace them afterwards. In addition, AD (such as Adobe Illustrator CC and Incscape. With the exception of the CAD programs, because it would be fatal) a strange feature to deform the symbol duplicates (which are changed in their aspect ratio) during rotation. It is also not possible to edit the symbols in the "quasi" mask group, since this group is converted to a solid layer.
  20. I was trying to follow the tutorial from @MikaG on How to: Sharpening with Edge Masks from January 14th, 2016. This worked OK on a couple of trial images. I then tried to record his procedureas a macro. This involved merging three layers, the modified background layer and two adjustment layers. This worked fine in my macro-free trial, but would not work when recording as a macro. The message I get when trying to select one of these layers is quite opaque. I get the same message with each of the layers I seek to merge. Is selecting a layer in such circumstances a proscribed operation when recording macros? I note that @MikaG comments that: "Once the function of Actions is added to Affinity Photo it will become a task even faster". John
  21. I was wondering if it would be interesting to create space for a notes field in the file properties (I'm aware I'm opening a can of worms there, IMHO there should also be room for data such as creator, company and copyright which then inevitably segways into a discussion about EXIF data too - allow me to stay away from that for now). I've seen someone talk about a description/information layer but that's inside the design, what I'm talking about is the ability to store meta data with the document which describes content, with or without tags and other fun stuff that you could actually search for if the search facility, file system or DAM supports it. At the moment, the only means to store data with a design is to add a box somewhere with some description or rely on a DAM to add external tags to a file which can get lost and which do not travel with the file in a makeshift collaborative environment. Ironically, document properties are a default feature in wordprocessors such as MS Office and LibreOffice which are the one facility that needs it less because you can actually search in the file contents - no such luck with graphics.. Opinion?
  22. I'm not sure if this has been requested or not. In fact it might already be in Affinity Designer but I couldn't find an option to move an object from one layer to another (without changing its position). I looked for it in the beta as well and I couldn't find it. If it is there could someone clue me into where to look and if it isn't there, I would like to suggest it to be added (in time of course).
  23. Hi, Infinity Photo lacks an option to change the size of the Layer Thumbnail images. This has always been an odd omission, the point of the thumbnails is being able to see at a glance what layer you are working on and what it contains. When I worked on a 1920x1080 resolution monitor it was manageable to a degree - but still frustrating, but now I have a more professional sized resolution monitor at 2560x1440, the thumbnails are so tiny, they may as well not be there. Can we please have an option to enlarge the thumbnails like Photoshop/Gimp etc has. Thanks, Jay.
  24. In Affinity designer, every time you make an object, it create it own layer for it. Is there a way to change this?
  25. Please Serefteam, create in AP the Option to Change the layer thumbnailsize larger. Regards Armin
