  1. Can you please add "Find in Layer Panel" to a toolbar in Affinity Designer/Photo? I can't add a shortcut in macOS for it because it doesn't exist in a menu, outside of right clicking something on the canvas. More specifically, I can add it, it just doesn't work. I'm finding myself having to find several dozen layers individually for adjustments because AD's cmd+shift+v often times fails to apply the same sized effects to different layers. This happens to me a lot; I don't know the cause (I haven't resized the layers, but I have rotated them).
  2. Hi there, I'm working with Affinity for several years now and was always very satisfied. But since my update to newest Affinity Photo 2 the layer panel is gone, can't see it anymore. The older version of Affinity Photo shows the layer panel as known. So what is the problem and how can I solve it? Anybody out there to help me? Any help is highly appreciated For your info, I'm working on MacOs 11.7.10 – maybe that's the problem?
  3. Have you ever tried to arrange objects in the layers panel only to loose them, and then find it nestled in a collapsed group of objects? Ever try and move an object so it clips anther object and it ends up with an unexpected result? Ever wonder what those enigmatic icons in the layer thumbnails are trying to tell you? This guide is for anyone with those questions. From folks that are new to Affinity Products, to people who has been using it for years and struggled with the behaviour of layers. This 3-page visual how-to guide will hopefully help reveal any or all of the cryptic layer mysteries! The guide is in English for desktop versions of the products, designed the Windows version, tested mostly in Affinity Designer, but should translate well to Affinity Photo and Publisher. I would love to hear your feedback, if you notice any errors, have any additions, and/or let me know if it helps you, please chime in! NOTE: PDF DOWNLOAD AT THE BOTTOM. Please download it! 4. Maybe it’s just me, but I really don’t like the new context menu I get when swiping from right to left on objects in the layer panel. Again this might be a problem only I have because of my workflow but in the past it was way more convenient to select objects within the layer panel. The context menu really slows me down.
  5. Hey! I just wanted to draw something. Did so but it created a path that doesn't show in the layer panel. Assigning a stroke width or color or fill doesn't make it appear. As soon as I deselect it's gone for good... Starting new paths does bring the same results. Is this a know error? Using the latest release version. Chris PS: Only happened once so far and with the next restart I could draw normally again.
  6. Hello! I find it very difficult to see which layer I selected with all artboards already "highlighted"... Is there a way to turn off automatic highlighting of artboards? Or augment the contrast between artboards and selected layers? Thanks!
  7. When viewing any of several pages with multiple layers, the layer panel only shows a single object. Up/down arrows have to be tapped to view other objects. Have tried, locking, unlocking, show, show all, etc. Is there a way to display all the objects on the page? Is there a restriction that keeps the panel stuck on showing only one object?
  8. Hi, have a little problem cannot find a way how to jump to layer which contains selected object. I see only highlighted layer (if not expanded, then only highlighted group) in layer view, and i have to manually open the group, subgroup, etc.... use case - gui dev, have 40+ artboards, and 1000+ layers divided into many groups and subgroups ...
  9. If I want to move an object down or up in the hierarchy of the Layers panel I can use CTRL+[ or ]. But what if I want to move it out of a group/symbol/layer? The only way is to use the "release" action, right? Is there a "release" action keyboard shortcut?
  10. I think there should be an option to add a new layer directly above the selected layer. Currently as far as I can tell, adding a new layer adds it to the top of all of the layers in the panel. This is not ideal when you have hundreds of layers and you just need a new layer above the current selected layer. For instance when you are organizing your element layers and need a container layer to dump a bunch of layers into... If this is already possible can someone let me know? Cheers!
  11. I know you can rename an object by selecting it on the layer panel and then double-clicking on its name. The problem is that if you have a large document with thousands of objects you first need to select the object you want to rename on the document and then spend a looooot of time locating the highlighted item on the layer panel so that you can double-click on its name in order to change it. This should be a lot easier. You just need to add a "rename object" option on the layer menu (and/or the context menu you get for the selected object). We use Affinity Designer to create graphics we then export as SVG files. The name of each object in SVG files is usually VERY IMPORTANT so that you can work with them on web applications. Naming objects should be a lot easier when you have multiple objects on the document. Another way to fix this situation would be that whenever you select a SINGLE object on the document, the layer panel would automatically scroll to that object on the list to make it visible to you (instead of you having to manually look for it on the list, which is a pain if you have hundreds of objects). Once the object has been located for you on the layer panel, you can easily proceed to rename it by double-clicking on its name.
  12. Hello Members of the Affinity Photo Forum, I`m new to Affinity and somehow managed to hide the layers panel. I can`t fin a way to make it visible again. If somebody would be so kind to help a newbie? Greetings frecher7
  13. Hey guys, I just discovered 2 broken pieces of functionality compared to the previous beta. Please see the attached video for both: 1. Can't select certain objects. They are not grouped, locked, etc. I can click select, but not drag select. I already checked the Preferences. 2. Control clicking on an object and then selecting Find in Layers Panel does not work. I can email the master AD file if necessary, just let me know. AD beta - broken functionality.mov
  14. I don't know how I did this, but the layers panel on the right has disappeared. How do I bring it back? I have enabled the tools, dock, toolbars in the view menu, but cant find the layers panel option in any menus.
