  1. So after so many lagging issues with DESIGNER under windows 10. I have not reset it, uninstalled it, cleaned the machine, reboot, reinstall, added brushes and with in 3 uses of the program its back to brief lockups, very slow moving of item and slow loading of program. I never had these issues under windows 7. I have now put the first version of 1.6 released to public and it seems to be working better. Whats wrong with the program or what i am doing with it? I never had an issue under Windows 7 pro. But this experience under Windows 10 is terrible. I had issues with PHOTO as well. But reset seemed to fix it for the moment. When I reinstalled the brushes , i did them one at a time and checked..all was good...they are either DAUB brushes or FRANKENTOON...nothing else. PLEASE HELP! Gary
  2. I have a windows 10 pro machine, fresh install and my PHOTO is lagging in performance. When drawing with the paint brush is really jerky and you cannot create a smooth stroke. It the program seems to lock up for 5 seconds and then start working again. I had Windows 7 pro and PHOTO seemed to work flawless , but not now. It even takes 8 seconds longer to load. I have using solid state drives, 32GB ram i73930K, GTX 980. Should be working with out issue with this setup and i haven't even tried anything hard with it. ANY SUGGESTIONS ON WHAT TO DO ? Any help would be very much appreciated. Gary
  3. Hi, I just bought the DAUB Kraken set and am loving the options. I noticed on my desktop, with some of the larger brushes (>100px) I notice I have to paint fairly slowly to get them to render correctly. I just picked up Affinity Photo, so I'm used to Photoshop where I could brush the engine further. Is there anything I can push hardware wise to get more out of the engine? I really love this set, but seems they are quite taxing on the engine itself? I have two screens, one is 4K and the other is 1080p. I tried painting on both and the result is the same. Changing the document size doesn't seem to make a difference. Here are my specs: Intel i5-4670K CPU @ 3.40 Ghz 16GB of RAM NVIDIA GeForce GTX 950 (2x displays; 4K & 1080p respectively) Program is installed on an SSD Wacom Intuos4 Large Windows 10 (Fall Creator's Edition) My laptop doesn't seem to have as much of an issue for whatever reason and it is similarly speced. Though I think I am painting on an Intuos3 and iirc, it's on an older driver set than the Intuos4.
  4. Hello! So I bought Affinity Photo just the other day and I am really liking this program. However, since there have been reported issues of jagged lines when drawing, especially with tablets, I tried out the Beta for 1.6 to see if the issue was fixed. First things first, the new stabilizer feature is an improvement over the live version, which I have an example of with this first attempt at doing some lineart with the software (I used Lazy Nezumi Pro, but there are still artifacts of jagged lines in there when zooming in). As I said before, the jagged lines are improved upon in 1.6, but there is still one problem that really hampers my ability to create quick, smooth lines. The new version can handle straight lines pretty well, but when it comes to curved lines, there seems to be some form of input lag going on when I first begin the stroke (I am not using a regular brush, so the edges are rough on purpose). As can be clearly seen here, the brush strokes start off by not being able to recognize when I begin to sweep my pen in one direction, instead creating this edged curve that then practically disappears once a certain period of time has gone by (this also affects brush size based on pen pressure to an extent). However, the brush still creates a little bit of jagged lines in curves when it appears that it can't keep up with the speed that I draw in. While not as bad as in the live version, this makes me have to slow down my drawing/painting to the point where I have to wait every time for the program to properly respond to the input I am giving it through my Wacom Cintiq 13 inch HD tablet. If there is some solution to this, I will be able to drop Photoshop as my go to program fairly quickly.
  5. Hi everyone, I'm sure I'm not the first to bring this issue up but I wanted to try my luck anyway. I'm trying to use AP instead of PS as my main digital painting program, however, since the first time I tried working with it, I've encountered way too many issues with its brushes. I'm not even talking about the lag when I start strokes (in some of the brushes I use, not all of them), but the biggest problem I'm having is the breaking angles I get for no good reason. Here are some screenshots I took to better explain the issues while trying to make a simple sphere. I've also noticed that changing the zoom can alter the way my brush behaves, but I cannot work only in extreme zooming all the way from start to finish. Is there a solution for these problems? Many thanks!!! -Ziv
  6. Hi there, I've just downloaded the free trial for Affinity Designer on my Windows 10 Surface Pro 3. I've got the i7 model (4650U integrated graphics) with 8gb ram and I'm experiencing some fairly substantial lag when playing around with a single art board and a handful of photos. It is frequently generically laggy and the program has frozen as 'not responsive' 9 times in 30 mins. It recovers from the not responsive state relatively quickly (maybe 2-5 seconds). To test the demo, in total, I have: - 7 elipse shapes, each masking a photo from Unsplash (all seven total 57mb in file size) - 1 rectangle shape - 2 text fields I'm doing all this in the 'draw' persona, meaning the photos are at full res if you zoom in enough, despite being scaled down significantly to fit onto the screen. Have I got some random setting accidentally on overdrive, or is the testing build simply buggy and therefore not representative of the final product? Any ideas? The surface typically handles large PS files fine. Cheers, Jordan
  7. I've noticed that when I increase my brush size to fill a canvas (aiming to create textured backgrounds prior to creating my work), there is a severe lag when I make strokes. Often times, when I make several passes with a large brush, I'm left waiting for AP to catch up. FYI, I have a 1 TB SSD & 16 GB of RAM, and an i5 processor on a mid-2012 Macbook Pro. Idk if that information will help in diagnosing the problem or not. Is there any way to tinker with the performance setting to resolve this issue, while still maintaining hi-res quality of the brushes? Thanks.
  8. I was hoping to see this serious issue resolved in the new version. Unluckily the InPainting brush in AP is still suffering from lag that makes it simply unusable for professional work. I'm aware that not everyone hast to deal with this effect - on the other side I'm not experiencing anything similar with PS or other products. As well my system requirements should allow a fluent workflow. System config: Win 7 - 64Bit, iCore I7 3770K, 32GB Ram, 256GB SSD, Nvidia GeForce GTX 570, Wacom Intuos 4, Affinity Photo 1.5.1.51 Beta See the example video: https://youtu.be/nh3aNvkA8Oc
  9. Hi all! I'm writing this 'cause I have a couple of issues using the Insproy G10T tablet with Affinity Designer, and I'm not sure where the issue lies. This tablet works just 20% of time in Affinity Designer. Sometimes it works well for the first couple of minutes, and then just starts to lag. Now, the issue here seems to be very specific: if you click something to select it, it takes a couple of long seconds to do so, unless you lift the pen all the way. Let me explain: if you lift the pen from the surface so that it still tracks the pointer, it doesn’t select/perform the action quickly at all. If you lift the pen so that the pointer is not tracked anymore, it selects it instantly. This seems to be true across multiple actions: resizing, dragging, scaling… I don’t know if this is a problem on the Affinity side or rather something Huion should solve. In fact, I wrote a mail to Huion as well. I just know two things: - the tablet works fine in other programs (Adobe Xd and Pixelmator tested): seems to indicate that the issue is on Affinity side - other tablets (like Wacom ones) work just fine in Affinity Designer: seems to indicate that the issue is on Huion side. I really wish someone could fix this or help me some way. Here is a video that may help to clear things up: https://goo.gl/photos/xwGx8t4dUu1hCfRi8 Thank You in advice, Philip Müller
  10. Why is that with more layers my doc has the more delayed actions get (moving an object, waiting for things to happen)? As soon as I clear all layers except for the object I need to move I get great response? Please address this. It feels like Illustrator when AD behaves like this.
  11. I ordered a slightly used Wacom Intuos5 touch Small Tablet with pen, cable and wireless kit for $140 from a graduating Arts student. Does it sound like a good buy? Being a lefty I noticed Wacom's tablets can be flipped around and software switched. I know Huion has handedness settings but I still don't fancy rotating the tablet and have the labels upside down. My only concern is whether it will lag on wireless with AD or APh? I recall reading somewhere that USB cable is preferred. Can you advise me. Have Affinity staff got inhouse experience with this model (PTH-451) Thanks Michael
  12. I've noticed that pen tool is so laggy and slow. Also there're some lags and distortions when I try to move/drag any object. Are there any ways to solve this issue? Here you can check the gifs I made: http://imgur.com/a/7hpyt Windows10 8GB RAM NVIDIA GeForce GT 630M
  13. Okay, guys. I have the latest beta on my Surface Pro 3, which is running on the latest Insider Preview Fast Ring release, 14942. I've seen a lot of issues popping up about this Insider build, and one is that scrolling is crazy hard to control. It jumps pages down when you're only trying to scroll down a few lines. I've also noticed that since the latest beta release (not sure if it's the screen size of my SP3, the Insider build, or the beta), which came out the same day as the latest Insider build, I've had a reallllly hard time moving layers. They just tend to go crazy, and after a few seconds once I've released, they just fly all over the screen as if by themselves. I don't know whether it's related to the scrolling issue in this Windows build or what, but any ideas? Has anyone using a similar set-up run into this? It's SLIGHTLY better with the trackpad, (vs touch screen), but not a lot. Anything would be helpful. Thank you!
  14. Every version of Affinity Designer Beta has had a lot of lag when scrolling through any swatches, though it is still usable. This happens regardless of the file that I am working on, and it has persisted through reisntallations and updates to Affinity Designer Beta. I am currently on the most recent beta (7/7/16). PC specs: CPU: Intel i7 5820k@4.5 Ghz GPU: GTX Geforce 950 RAM: 32 GB DDR4 SSD: Samsung 950 Pro installation drive (where Windows and my applications, including Designer, are installed) HDD: Hitachi Deskstar 7200 RPM storage drive (where the files I am working on are stored) I don't think it is my PC causing the issue.
  15. If the swatches tab is visible with colours, switching documents lags signficantly.
  16. What slows down AP? I have noticided AP slowing down after intense use it seems....any tip on that? , what routine worflow do you recommend to avoid that? thank nk you, cheers
  17. I am using the DAUB Watercolours paint brushes in Affinity Photo on a 36inx24in at 300dpi document and the brushes lag bad. I did reset all settings in Affinity Photo back to default. Same results. See my computer specs below. Any help on this issue would be great. I am trying to make the switch to the Affinity applications for all my work. I also attached the kind of work I am trying to do in Affinity Photo. My Computer Specs: Mac Pro (Early 2009) 2 x 2.26 GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon 16 GB 1066 MHz DDR3 ECC RAM ATI Radeon HD 4870 512 MB
  18. Hi, I can't seem to use Affinity photo anymore, I can get so far with lots and lots of lag time, spinning wheel etc and I finally finished a photo and went to export and it completely stops responding. I have tried reseting the default settings, I have rum my mac through first aid, no problems. I have restarted it. I have increased the RAM usage setting in Af as per someones suggestion. Nothing works. I am not very tech savvy so I don't know what else to do. This is now constant and never ending. It has become unusable. Its funny because it used to be fine??? Can anybody help me please. I have attached a screen shot of the computer system I am using ...but like I said it used to work fine. Also when my CPU goes through the roof there is nothing else open except Activity monitor. I am using Ox S El Capitan 10.11.3

  20. Vectorized a texture file and the resulting svg was rather large. opened it and at first i didn't think it was opening, a little later, I noticed my map was working rather hard. AD had opened my file. Went to zoom in, it froze, then came back. Went to select all layers to add them, crash. Spinning beach ball of death the whole time. I can't upload the offending file, since it is 200+mb. I think this kind of file warrants a special mode for importing large files; never rendering at a high resolution, offering to add all curves together, and less nice looking pan/zoom. I think the scrollbar (in the layers menu) had hit its minimum size. 2014mbp, nvidia gforce gt 750m, 16gb ram, 15" AD used 9gb+ of ram Would this be considered a bug? I wasn't sure.
  21. This is more of a general issue, and I'm not able to share some of the files I'm seeing it happen with, but in the most recent beta I've noticed when saving .afdesign or exporting Designer seems to freeze up at the end of the saving process. It's happening both with smaller files and larger ones. The progress bar gets to the end of a save and seems to totally freeze, however sometimes it will save fine and allow me to resume working after several minutes. In some instances the freeze never goes away and I have to force-quit Designer, although in some of those instances even force-quitting from the Apple menu fails to work, and I have to reboot. Here is a video briefly showing what I'm seeing during an export. affinity-save-stall.mov
  22. The brushes recently developed obnoxious lag. In both Designer 1.2 and Photo Beta, they were fast and fun and now they’re slow and aggravating. I’m using only simple brushes. Don’t see this lag in Photoshop CC 14 or SketchBookPro. Don’t have other apps open simultaneously. I did install Designer Beta in addition recently… This iMac (8 MB RAM, 3.2 GHz Intel Core i3, ATI Radeon HD 5670 512 MB) was recently updated to 10.10.3 but this lag developed some days after that. In Disk Utility, repaired permissions and verified disk, but that had no effect. What to check, what to do? Re-install? If so, how to remove ancillary files? Love your apps otherwise - they’re really fun to use.
  23. From what I've seen so far you guys did a wonderful job with Photo, thank you so much!! One thing in particular that needs some closer look for me is the noticeable lagging of paint brushes plus the little offset when starting to paint (leading to little gaps in drawings). I've noticed some lagging in designer as well, but since the focus is on vector drawing it is not as important as it is here.
  24. Hi there, another thing that I noticed is the unresponsive color picker (unresponsive ALT-key that is) when clicking on a color in the image using the ALT-key. It would help to see the magnifying glass, but that is visible with considerate lag and then only a split-second. Keep up the great work!!! Best, oliwetti
