  1. Like many Affinity users, I am really worried about my favorite software getting covered in Canva template-based easy-to-use barnacles that slow down the ship as a whole. Many of the users I’ve communicated with expect Canva to gut and part out the tools of Affinity, to then shove them into an all-in-one Canva-stein’s Monster that will cater to non-professionals and leave the professional graphics crowd high and dry. I have no idea if that’s the plan going forward, but in any situation where a fish is acquired by bigger fish, you can guess which of the two will wind up in pieces. My request is this: rather than melt Affinity into Canva and vice versa, do the Studio Link thing: keep Canva as a standalone app, and make Canva tools and services accessible within Publisher. Canva can remain its own thing (with a few UI upgrades from the award wining Affinity side of the partnership) and can be used by its core audience the way they’re used to using it; no scary new Designer Nodes or Photo Live Filters to get in the way of their good time. Meanwhile, all the collaboration stuff, cloud storage, and everything else the Canva app brings to the table can be integrated and accessed only by the Affinity users who want to get involved in the Canva workflow going forward. No new menus to clutter the right side of the screen, and no new online connectivity requests fighting for attention every time you want to simply boot up Affinity Photo and adjust some Noise. Canva as a separate Studio Link situation would even allow for the pricing structures to remain separate. The get-off-my-lawn crowd can have their one-time Universal License fee and not have to hear about anything else. Meanwhile, the cutting edge AI tech fans can keep a subscription for access to the newest whatever for making the latest whatever for whatever whatever. As Canva keeps playing Bigger Fish and acquiring more companies into its belly, they too can be brought into the fold Studio Link style, keeping a consistent brand interface and functionality that keeps everything uniform and organized while giving all the users just enough of what they want with the stepping on of toes kept to a minimum. I don’t own any Australian graphics companies, so I have no idea how the business side of all of this works. I’m just an iPad Pro user that doesn’t want to see their favorite software on their favorite platform go away. Hopefully the bug I’m attempting to plant in the company ear will contribute something toward keeping touch-based computing the superior method for doing things that Affinity helps make possible. Thanks.
  2. Hello, there are visual aspects of the Layers Palette that bother me a bit. Oh, nothing major, but hey... Since working with Adobe suite software (since discontinued) and now Affinity suite (with great pleasure), Cinema4D and other graphics software, I have always placed the layers palette on the edge right from my screen (today a BenQ PD2700U 4K). A habit... Unfortunately, the layer color tag is very close to the edge and is thus obscured by the thickness of the edge of the screen which has a shadow (see attached screenshot “Oops1.jpg”). Not comfortable at all!... Moreover, the scroll bar hides the color tag (see attached screenshot “Oops2.jpg”). Last suggestion: the automatic naming of new layers does not place a space between the word “Layer” and its number. With an isolated layer number, a single double click on it would allow you to edit it directly, without altering the word “Layer”. See attached screenshot “Options.jpg”... Otherwise, I especially noticed that with several files open at the same time, the focus on the layers of the palette did not stay at the same level when changing the foreground file. Moreover, during a layer grouping, it would certainly be very comfortable for the user to have the focus on the newly created group...
  3. It seems to me that Apple recommends the position of the validation button placed on the far right... 🙃
  4. I am right handed and was wondering if the dock tools can be permanently moved to the right side of the interface?
  5. Kapture 2023-03-16 at 05.38.54.webm Howdy, the floating panels appear to act on their own accord in MacOS. Take a look at the bottom right corner of the attached video. Thanks so much! | Designer 2.0.4
  6. I googled ".net touch interface". Look what popped up! [touch interface](https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/dotnet/desktop/wpf/advanced/walkthrough-creating-your-first-touch-application?view=netframeworkdesktop-4.8) Edit: I must be tired or something. My Affinity works with my pen just fine. (with minimal testing) I can draw objects, move objects, resize objects, rotate objects. Select various icons from the interface. Now the UI! That could use some work. PS; your "link icon" doesn't work.
  7. I am wondering if people have faced this issue. The context bar is always divided by little arrows which need to be clocked to access the rest of the toolbar. Which doesn’t make sense in landscape mode especially in larger iPads. is there a way to keep the full context bar open all at once More importantly, have they solved this in v2 so that I can think of getting that version.
  8. When opening a document with layers, the dots for (de)activating don't show up. They reappear when resizing the palette.
  9. Great software overall. Thank you for the amazing one-shot pricing. That said... Separated mode is a basic, and for a lot of people, essential feature. If I had known this was dropped from V2 it would have made me hesitate a long time before buying as quickly as I did. I'm kind of feeling like there should have been a conspicuous warning somewhere that it was not included in V2, nobody expects features to go backwards in new versions. Way back in the day, the fact that Mac could run Adobe with just floating toolbars, and no awkward "application window" around them, was a godsend for designers. Those of us who used Windows instead/as well had to contend with the primitive OS requirements of Microsoft which signalled clearly that Windows was not an ideal design/graphics environment. Removing the separated mode option is just stunning to me, and signals a return to an awkward, older sort of unpolished era in graphics software. Even tablets are moving towards floating app windows, and ultimately floating file windows. The ability to provide this will affect whether Affinity is seen as a clunky older software, or a forward-looking app that intends to compete in the future. Crossing my fingers in hope this huge shortcoming will be addressed in the next update. Seriously, this app window things is just really awkward and annoying, like something that's just always getting in your way as you try to work.
  10. As a newbie, I have another question: what does this graphics on one of my layers' mean? I see some tranparency icon, but I don't find any in this folder. And I see a realistic folder icon which does not appear elswhere in my layers panel… TIA, Tomek
  11. Hello amazing people! Adobe does this, in Illustrator desktop… I’m getting older, and working on a smaller iPad… it would be truly great if Affinity would consider a way to do this and enlarge the UI/icons/interface, to some extent. I find it’s difficult to see, but also repeatedly missing when selecting certain UI functions. Is this a possibility on iPad??
  12. I recently got a 4K 32” external monitor for my laptop and this obviously caused me to work differently than using my laptop display, namely, as screen size increases, one must sit back further from the display. Doing that, the Affinity UI is barely legible to me. I feel like I’m trying to tap on a grain of sand using a needle. I already have the UI Font preference set to Large but it’s not nearly enough. I don't want to use Display Scaling resolution in system prefs as that negatively impacts performance and I want to use the maximum number of available pixels. I know this is not a trivial thing to address, but I’m hoping / praying the AMAZING devs fundamentally address the UI in version 2 of the Affinity Suite in terms of functionality and customization, and this would include being able to resize the entire UI, including font, it's size and letter-spacing (critical for legibility), as well as icons, Studio panels' buttons and icons. Please consider engineering a responsive UI just like modern websites which can resize any and all elements based on the device used for viewing via CSS. That way users can create profiles for desktop and laptop UI preferences. Larger displays can use an enlarged UI and laptop displays can use a more compact version. Thanks for your consideration and all you do. Happy new year and God bless and heal the world!
  13. Hello, When trying to seriously capture faint deep-sky objects, with my rather unprofessional equipment (just a mirrorless camera and a 300mm lens), I tend to do it with several sessions over several days. Each day I add another session to the stack and see if I can squeeze some more photons out. Each day, however, I have to select all lights, darks, bias, flats of each previous session, over and over again, before adding the files of the new session. I didn't find a way to save these file selections, so that I don't have to do this repetitive task every session. Did I miss it somewhere or does it not exist? Thanks for any pointers. Cheers, Dom
  14. Hey, So I really love to use Affinity Designer on my iPad Pro and love how intuitive and natural it really feels. But in the end of the day its still an iPad and producing large jobs on it can be a hassle at times, therefore requiring a desktop. So I was wondering if it was possible to bring that interface or gestures to the desktop (ideally also for Photo and Publisher). As at least for Windows, many laptops and some desktops are coming with Touch Displays and Styluses. And it can even be the case with Macs when hooked up to a drawing tablet. But you still have to use your mouse and keyboard quite a lot when working on such devices as the interface doesn't have any touch gestures or a UI layout that would make it more convenient when working with touch/stylus enabled devices/displays. So I was wondering if it was possible to bring that iPad interface or at least the touch gestures to the Desktop Versions. It doesn't have to be the default, but simply a mode that users can turn on if they so desire. As this would bring the intuitiveness of the iPad's touch and stylus interface, but with the power of a full desktop. Anyway just wanted to see if this was possible, Thank You for all your Work! You Guys Rock!
  15. When you want to apply opacity to a text frame, you must do it guessing, because the opacity handler does not have numeric indicator for the percentage nor field to place the percentage manually. It should have one, so we don't have to calculate the transparency by where the slider is visually.
  16. I found a bug in User Interface - which is not changing interface colour after choosing default OS option on macOS Catalina. The bug include just "Artboard Background Grey Level" which stays at the same position no matter which option I will choose - either dark or light. Sometimes it runs with random setting with dark background on Light option and light on dark option. I though it will sop doing that after setting your preferences for both options but it seems like with every instance of the software runs with different background, so every time I need to go back to preferences and change it manually. I'm using automatic options on macOS so either Photo App or Publisher adjust automatically but not a Designer. It's not a huge dealbreaker but it's a little annoying. I would love to see that fix in the next update. I'm using Designer on daily basis so I need to adjust background colour every day. I tried to find that topic before writing that post but I couldn't find it. I think it's worth mentioning. Thanks in advance. Adrian
  17. when a layer is selected, the hilight on the artboard is always blue ..in AI or ID this highlight can be assigned (I like Grass Green or Gold) this helps me organise eg: base on charcoal; text on lavender; pics on purple; graphics on violet.. begining to really get to grips with AffDesigner ..so smooth ..well done!
  18. About a week ago a magenta stroke began appearing on everything once it had been selected, beit text or objects. It then remains whether selected or not. It appears on older and newly made projects. I've tried searching all pertinent topics and resources to learn how to remove this. Can anyone tell me why this is happening and how to remove it? Thank you.
  19. I take note of the Brush Customization features in Affinity Photo/Designer/Publisher and do appreciate it much, but I am baffled when it comes to making dynamic settings obvious on a canvas when using Wacom's Ciintiq 22. Some dynamic jitters clearly change the display brush stroke, but some do not. And none of them seem to effect the Wacom Pens. What am I missing? Is it that Serif's Affinity products do not interface with Wacom Products? If the two products do interface, how do I set things up so that the Wacom Pen actions reflect the Affinity Dynamic Jitter settings?
  20. (I suspect this has been asked before but I can't find the topic after searching, so...) I've assigned shortcuts to various Panels: Layers, Swatches, etc. When I hit, for example F5, I want it to make the Swatches Panel active. However, if the panel is already open and not active then Affinity (Publisher) closes the panel and I need to hit F5 again to make it visible and active. My question: is there a way of assigning a keyboard shortcut that will toggle whether a panel is active without closing it? Thanks for any help!
  21. howdy :) does anyone know how to customize the keyboard commands in affinity photo? thank you in advance :) ^-^
  22. Is it possible to colorize the "Studio" tabs and sub-tabs for a better readability of the interface, for example… Est-il possible de coloriser les onglets et sous-onglets de "Studio" pour une meilleure lisibilité de l'interface, par exemple…
  23. Hello, Fellow UI designer here, just wanted to suggest a few tweaks to the layers panel, 1. Add an even smaller thumbnail setting and maybe even a no thumbnail setting (Not for me but I think some people might like it). The UI is already scaled quite bigger than I'd like and wastes a lot of space from the actual view window. 2. Add the ability to copy paste things from the layers panel, for example: If I hold down CTRL and drag a layer it should let me make a copy of it. It's different than duplicate because it allows me to put the copy anywhere I want directly. 3. Lock icon in the layer itself, it's annoying having to click the layer and then going up and click the lock icon, I already use the shortcut to lock thing but still, annoying. Maybe make the icon appear alongside the checkmark icon as you hover the cursor on top of the layer? I hope you address this in the upcoming updates! Thanks.
  24. The very small gray icons on black background are almost impossible for me to see with my eyes. Is there a way to make them black on a white background? Or increase contrast and make then white on black. This is a usability issue that will affect many people with disabilities. Please add an option to the preferences. It is incredibly unfair to not consider people with disabilities. I know dark themes are popular at the moment, but there are many of us who have great difficulty with them.
