  1. It would be so awesome to be able to import from CC0 pictures from places like Pixabay, Flickr, Opec Clip Art Library and such.
  2. Hi, Excellent so far. Videos very informative, but not of the quality of Photo. I fully understand this is Beta, and wanted to report an issue (Now 2)... Cannot import Assets to a new Category - tried the import dialogue but will not import anything - maybe a Beta restriction? Cannot download the completed brochure from the initial splash page Start Up Panel. Will be back to report any other issues as found. Good work Affinity.
  3. When reading/importing a designer file into Publisher, it would be intuitive to have the option to import artboards as pages. Currently the whole document is imported as a single page with multiple artboards. A work around is to create a PDF and load that as then the pages are correctly handled - however the text isn't handled quite correctly - odd letterspacing, justification etc... Just a thought. Regards, Mark
  4. The PDF import functionality is absolutely splendid. A minor bug: text in PDFs will sometimes import with large amounts of negative tracking in random places. For example, create a document in InDesign with some text using old-style proportional figures or small caps (e.g. with Arno Pro). When Publisher imports the resulting PDF, the styling is lost, and the tracking is set to –100% or more. I doubt whether there is a solution to the first problem, but presumably the latter problem can be remedied. This situation could also be improved by providing an easy method to make global changes to the text styling (I suggested in the feature requests area that it creates styles based on the imported text).
  5. The PDF import function is simply magical – it's amazing to be able to take PDFs of things I created years ago and have them turn into something reasonably workable. It would be even more useful if Publisher could automatically create styles based on fonts, text size, and so forth. Even if it didn't pick up everything, it would be great to have a starting point for editing heading styles and so forth.
  6. Many users will be hoping that Publisher can be genuine competitor to InDesign – and one that's not subscription-only at that. What options will there be for importing and exporting into .INDD files, say? Also, InDesign offers many print output options, from very Press Quality down to small files. Will Publisher eventually do that? There are probably other things, too. I'd just like to know if it will be possible for Publisher users to work alongside InDesign.
  7. Hi guys, it should be possible to open Indesign files, at least .idml would be reccommended. Otherwise there is no reason for Indesign users like me to switch.
  8. Does some know, if there is an possibility to import Scribus-Dokuments into the new Publisher? Thanks for help.
  9. Will there be import format options in Publisher. Like many I suspect, I have existing files in other native formats. Most of mine are in InDesign. Will there be a way to import these other formats into the release version of Publisher? Just started looking through the beta and I'm liking a lot of what I see.
  10. Hi all Thank you for the beta release of Publisher. Looks nice. Even more nice than Photo. Now comes my question, weither I may import existing Indesign documents or weither that is not possible. I understand if the beta cannot do all of it, but I guess this might be a so called killer argument ... Cheers Andreas
  11. Maybe quantity of posts will help with this feature request: I absolutely NEED DXF import to make Affinity useful to me. I keep an ancient copy of Illustrator around simply because it does this. My application is for the silkscreening and label generation for electronic products. My CAD tool is SpaceClaim - a wonderful tool for usability, but very limited in terms of things it exports. DWG/DXF is the only usable vector format it will export. Very detailed and relatively complex information is exported in the DXF, exactly to scale. That is the aspect that needs to be preserved. If I export as PDF, I lose the scale. I cannot capture as raster files and reconvert as information is lost and it is not accurate enough to do what I need. I have read other posts and it sounds like others wish to do exactly as I. I periodically check on Affinity to see if this capability has been added. Until it is added, I cannot switch over to it from Illustrator - and believe me, I WANT to move away from Illustrator. I regret not having checked this exact capability before actually paying for Affinity Designer. I just assumed it HAD to be there. I like the looks and the promise of the Affinity Designer tool, but without this key capability (DXF import), I cannot yet use it or recommend its use to my peers.
  12. Hey Affinity, Will AD be able to import Adobe Illustrator vector brush libraries? Would be very handy to be able to tap into the thousands of brushes out there... Keep up the awesome work!
  13. Hi I am trying to import the color palette into AD from ase file which isa standard for illustrator. Is there a way I can do this. Right now the AD doesn't recognize this file type. Thanks Pranav
  14. Hello, I try to import new pencils but I can't see them in the pencil's menu. I though that was a mistake (they hadn't really import or something) so I did the import process again and Affinity Photo show up that they have been succesfully imported but adding a number at the end (I did it 3 times already ). I guess that is because the pencils already existed but I can't see any of them. I got differents pencils imported succesfully but I cant with these ones. I download them again, restart PC and nothing. It is supousse that they are there, but I can't pick them. If I can't really import them, there is a way to erease them? Because it is suppose that they are there as Affinity Photo say... can I find them in any folder and erease them? http://steaz.altervista.org/affinity-designer-free-brushes-ropes-leaves-laurel/ These are the pencils. Than you.
  15. Affinity Photo for iPad is a powerhouse for editing pictures from digital cameras... one at a time. This philosophy is embedded in every single aspect of the workflow, from importing and making adjustments all the way to exporting. I have created an account on this website precisely to be able to ask the developers or marketers of the app (if they ever read this) who and why they’ve decided to blatantly limit the functionality of the iPad version of the app compared to the desktop version. The fact that this limitation in function is not mentioned anywhere in the description on iTunes Store or in any of the tutorials or promotionals videos is appalling and borders false advertising. But I guess the answer has been in the title all along...after all, it’s Affinity Photo not Affinity Photos... Inquisitively and respectfully, Mihai
  16. Hi There, I purchased Affinity Designer last week and i'm hoping to use it as a replacement for Illustrator in the future. One of the things that i'm testing now is the importing of workfiles, made in Illustrator. The import of AI files goes surprisingly well! All layers that were made can be found in Affinity and non outlined text is editable. I was hoping to archieve the same result with EPS files, but that's not the case: there is only 1 layer with all elements in separated sublayers. And non outlined text is outlined. When i make a new file in Affinity, export it as an EPS and then open the file in Illustrator (cs 5.5), the elements are visible but the document size is not the same as the root document. Also color swatches are not preserved (same goes for importing EPS and AI to Affinity) These mentioned things might become a problem when working with other companies who use Illustrator. But i'm new on this, so maybe you can help me with these questions. Thanks a lot! Marcellus
  17. I'm unable to import any image into Affinity Designer. I select the 'Place Image Tool', then choose an image (in this case a standard jpeg file), then nothing — I'm not given the open to place the image in the document. Restarting the application or machine does not fix the issue. Affinity Designer 1.6.1 Mac OS High Sierra 10.13.6 image-import.mov

    PDF import bug

Hi guys, I have a problem with pdf file import. When opened inside the Affinity Designer the text gets messed up. :/ Check out the attached files: p01.pdf p01.pdf
  19. When I import swatches using the “Import Palette…” item, I should be able to select palettes saved from Photoshop (ACO – Adobe Photoshop Color Swatch File) or Illustrator (ASE – Adobe Swatch Exchange File). Are there foreign palette formats that AD can import? Maybe that information should be in the Open dialog box… or somewhere. (The Help Center doesn’t seem to do anything. I can search for a topic like “palette,” but can’t expand the results, so maybe the AD entries are just stubs?)
  20. Hi, I have “import from photos” on iPad Pro 2017 and add on a Folder in Affinity Photo but when I return on I file the app alert me: file removed from iPad! I’m not delete the file. Can you help me? Thanks Cristian
  21. This is my first time trying to import RAW photos to edit in Affinity. I've copied the photos from my camera (Fujifilm xa3) to my desktop, then opened in Develop Persona. I can't figure out why the images appear almost blank - they are mostly white with a few coloured pixels, and the image is changed to a square. What am I doing wrong?? Please help!
  22. I have an M50 and when I attempt to import to my iPad Pro via the lightening card reader, all I see are the video files. I have tried shooting in both the CR and CR3 Formats Any help here would be appreciated
  23. I recently started using Affinity Photo and found I could not preview the RAW files from my Lumix GX8 camera prior to import. Is there a way I can do this? Thank you for any assistance.

    Brush import issues

I just purchased Affinity Photo and am seeing issues already. Brush import is not working properly/well. 1) Brush shape in AP ties to brush roundness in PS. Brushes imported into AP with a certain roundness retain the setting value under the Shape parameter. However the Shape parameter in AP does nothing. You can move the Shape setting from left to right and roundness/shape of the brush is unaffected. I have a cloud brush (attached) with a roundness of 36, it looks properly squashed in PS, it is unaffected and full size in AP. Assigning the value upon import indicates that the Shape parameter should do what the Roundness parameter does (otherwise why import the value?) but the FUNCTION of the Shape parameter is not the same as the roundness function in PS. 2) PS has functionality where a control like Rotation is set with a value of 0 for control based upon direction but it still functions (as long as some control type is assigned to the control). In AP, the value imports as 0, but a zero value shuts off the dynamic even if a control type is assigned. In order to get proper behavior, export should not disable the dynamic if a control type is assigned but the control value is 0, and should only disable the control if the control type is None. 3) Resetting the brush values doesn't set them back to original imported default values. 4) Import of the "spacing" value needs to be adjusted (see attached PSD) to achieve similar results to a brush's performance in photoshop, or maybe this is caused by #5: 5) Flip X jitter and Flip X jitter aren't present in AP. There is no substitute that I can see in any of the brush settings that will give the same effect. Brushes with this characteristic checked in PS behave very differently in AP. This kind of randomness is essential in order for a foliage brush or a cloud brush to look natural by avoiding repetition. (See cookie-cutter effect in attached photoshop file.) I attached brush files (imported and original) and a PSD file showing AP behavior vs PS behavior. The differences are night and day and the brush import is not usable in its current state. In the PSD, the AP brush behavior is above and the PS behavior is below. BrushBug.psd Bug Brushes.afbrushes OneCloudBrush.abr
