  1. When trying to do an HDR merge with these 3 photos I get vertical blue lines like shown in the screenshot. This only happens when Automatically Remove Ghosts is ON. I included the 3 files with bracketed exposures. It is best visible before Tone Mapping.
  2. Hi the process for hdr merging stops the complete hdr merging process. But not always. It’s hard to find out when and how. Sometime the hdr merging works, sometimes not. Thank you for testing this — IMG_0162.MOV
  3. Ability to pass multiple images to Photo from the command line with the operation to perform For example: Affinity/Photo --hdr <img1> <img2> ... Affinity/Photo --focus <img1> <img2> ... Affinity/Photo --stack <img1> <img2> ... Affinity/Photo --panorama <img1> <img2> ...
  4. Shot on a super sturdy tripod, Nikon Z7, VR/IBIS = OFF, Z 24-70 2.8 S @ f/8, @ 24mm. NEF (0, -2, +2 stops) directly loaded into "New HDR merge", Auto align images set to Perspective, no noise reduction, Tone Map unchecked, Auto remove ghost: tried both, no difference, this is kinda not aligned:
  5. Hi Everyone, I have a lot of "7 image exposure bracketing Raw" Canon 1dx mark 2 files. The problem is that it takes a lot of time to process each photo. I have a macbook pro 15" 2018 i9 32gb 560x gpu. The questions are: 1. Are there any settings i need to change in order to speed up the process, because it looks like metal gpu acceleration is off (my current settings screenshot attached)? 2. Is there an option to create a batch job for all of my 7 part HDR Merge photos, so ill be able to leave it processing and come back in an hour instead of clicking every few minutes each time? Thanx a lot in advance.
  6. I'm struggling to work out how to merge 3 x 360 degree HDR files (from an Insta360 One X2 camera) - and then edit the composite with equirectangular / live projection - and export as a 360 photo.. Is it possible to do both? Can anyone help with step by step? Thanks
  7. Hello, I've just finished watching all interesting tutorials from affinity (to me) and I very like the 32 bit editing. And I am wondering what is the drawback while using the 32 bit? The export says the same file size with 16 a 32, but a user gets much better file to work with. The biggest advantage I see in keeping the colour/grade information even after over/underexposing the file in develop person (using layers keep it in both - PS don't) and then, you can modify the exposure again with no pixcel losage. Also, would it be posible to make develop persone work in two settings. 1. as it is now - all edits are destructible to the image. 2. live settings - all edits are remembered (for example detail refinement, noise reduction and white balance is something a user would like to change during editing. I know white balance can be modifed, but a user loses the Kelvin scale). My standard workflow is using lightroom (non destructive edit) to keep the same colour grading to a series of photos and for harder editing using the PS or now AP. At some point or next day I don't like the colour and I can easy modify the settings. In some comments I read, if using apply tone curve, the file loses dynamic range - could you clarify this? What does this actually do to the image? The detail refinement option is set to zero at default. At first I was shocked why a file loaded into AP is so blurry compared to viewing in basic picture browser (faststone viewer), then I found the DR option. During HDR merge could the noise reduction option be at develop persona, so that a user sees the effect and can adjust to his liking (detail can be done so)? Thanks, Jan.
  8. I am stacking several night sky shots using HDR Merge . The subject has a shot of the Moon very bright set at correct exposure. shots allowing for moonlight on foreground and a large structure building in the midground .The problem I am having is that when I adjust the tones after merge with an acceptable level I cant get the sky dark enough to show off the stars its either one or the other leaving far too much editing as a result . The foreground has snow in it illuminated by the moon the sky has to be dark to show off the Moon and stars, the Horizon has a residue of after sunset light civil Twighlight.so very difficult but if I can get it close to what I saw great dont mind small amount of tweaks . The final result Im getting is leaving the sky as if it was daylight and when i pull the tones control down to get the sky dark everything looks Muddy with all the colours looking yuck! any help would be appreciated .
  9. HDR merge starts to work, the alignment works but at some point during HDR merge or tonemapping, Affinity Photo shuts down. I am using version 1.8.5 and this is the first time I have used the new version for HDR. I had managed to do one focus merge successfully, but attempting a second one has caused Affinity Photo to fall over.
  10. Hi there! in these days working on some pictures for making HDR I noticed a misalignment in a part of the picture. I made a test comparing the affiniti picture (HDR1) with Canon DPP (HDR2) and I saw that in some area of the picure there was a clear bad focus due to wrong overlap. Anybody else has the same problem?
  11. Whenever I try to create an hdr merge after photos are imported and the merge starts affinity photo crashes and closes out. I am running the latest versions of iPadOS and for affinity photo. I’ve never had this problem before. I’m using my mavic 2 pro and I’ve used the hdr merge before with no problems. IMG_1440.MP4
  12. Hi, I just HDR merged two .jpg and would now like to remove some artefacts by replacing them with things from the source images. I have activated Sources in Studio, but clicking on the Clone tool does not cause it to display the Sources panel. I'm using Affinity Photo 1.7.3 on macOS 10.14.6.
  13. I have opened windows of photos in Affinity Photo that I want to combine in an HDR image. How can I add these open windows directly to a new HDR merge? When I select a few photos in the desktop Mac Photos with the Affinity Photo plugin extension, Affinity Photos opens with windows for the selected photos open. However, when I select new HDR merge, I can't find the photos already open in Affinity Photo to add to the HDR merge and I can't enter the Mac Photos Library through the HDR merge window's "add" button. My tedious work around has been to export the selected photos from Mac Photos to a separate folder and then add the exported files to a new HDR merge, then after creating a new HDR image in Affinity Photos, import it back into Mac Photos. The whole process uses my time and storage very inefficiently and defeats the whole purpose of the Affinity plugin for Mac Photos, so there must be a better way that I haven't been able to discover. I look forward to your guidance in using the Photos plugin to efficiently create HDR images.
  14. Affinity Photo Windows Desktop v1.7.1.404 When using the 'New HDR Merge...' function, DNG image lense corrections are not applied during file load/merge process. Reproduce: 1. File > New HDR Merge... 2. Click Add, select 2 or more DNG files 3. Click Ok 4. HDR image will not have lense correction applied(hdr_lense_missing.JPG) when compared to single DNG image opened using the standard File > Open
  15. Is there some reason why automatic lens distortion corrections that are applied to a single RAW file when the assistant is so configured, are not applied to RAW files that participate in File | New HDR merge... ? It would seem to be one of the more evident things to do. Now I find myself having to remove pin cushion and barrel distortion in a separate step. I am running ver. 1.6.7 on a Mac.
  16. Hello & HNY! I have been experimenting with the HDR merge and Focus merge modules and I'm experiencing a problem that Affinity Photo does not align the pictures correct. I can't find a way to align the pictures manually. Maybe I've not found the feature or this is currently not possible. Thanks, Rolf
  17. When creating a new Stack, Focus Merge, HDR Merge, or Panorama the user is prompted to add files to the dialog. When add is clicked, the user is brought to a cloud storage file selection. The first issue is that when using these features, there is no way to add images that are already on the iPad. Some way to add images from local storage needs to be added. These features use a lot of images and it is a big time and bandwidth waste to use cloud storage only for these. Second issue, all these features require selecting multiple images, but the dialog only allows selecting one image at a time. This is especially bad because it is cloud storage. A typical usage of these features god like this, "Click add; Select cloud storage service(it always defaults to iCloud); Navigate through a couple folders; Select an image; Wait for the image to load form cloud storage; Get kicked back to the file list dialog; REPEAT 100 MORE TIMES" I could maybe deal with this if it was only the HDR feature that had this behavior since you are only selecting 3-5 images most of the time using that. But the Focus Merge, Stack, and Panorama features are all likely to use 10 or more images. Focus merging I typically have 50-250 images I have to deal with. Adding a select all files, or allowing the user to select folders would greatly help. For instance, the google drive app has a select all command in the top right. I understand that some of these issues might be softened by implementing drag and drop in iOS11, but it will not full solve the problem. Imagine selecting 50 images for a Panorama or Focus Merge with the drag and drop implementation, vs tapping a single button. It is a big difference. I hope these issues get sorted, because otherwise those features appear to work pretty well. Though I haven't been able to test them a lot, because I want to keep my hair ;) -Steve
  18. I used Affinity Photo to convert three raw files to afphoto files. I then tried to create an HDR image by adding the three .afphoto files, but none of them would show up in the add dialog. Two questions: are .afphoto files really not supported for HDR merge? if the answer to 1 is true, what is a good workflow to go from raw to HDR? - DavidP
  19. Prior to creating a new Exposure Stack or HDR Merge, is it necessary to remove noise, and then save in a lossless format such as .tiff? Thanks!
  20. Hello, and thank you for Affinity Photo; the world needs more alternatives to you-know-what and Affinity has some great features. Some observations about plugins, some may have been mentioned before. The plugin image preview is not color managed, making it difficult to adjust color. Dropdowns on the plugin UI (with FilterMeister plugins anyway) only show two menu items; the arrow keys must be used to scroll down. I do not see a progress bar after the filter is displayed. And I have had two crashes so far on opening plugins, which previously opened. Here are some plugins to work with at http://www.russellcottrell.com/photo/RCFilters.htm The curves dialog needs to show the input and output values for the selected point. This is especially important for the center point of Lab’s a and b curves. Also, could HSB/HSL mode be added? Congratulations on the HDR merge feature; the .exr output file is the highest quality that I have seen, much better than that of the well-known HDR programs. When merging .tifs (rather that raw files so the camera .dcp profile can be applied first), all other programs that I have tried produce very noisy shadows, often unusable, when opened in applications such as SNS-HDR. (Nothing against your tone-mapping per se but SNS-HDR is the best.) The Affinity .exr’s are high-quality, fully usable. But I have run into a few problems; several of the images I merged had artifacts, little vertical colored lines in the output. And the output files do not look the same when trying to merge them into a panorama with PTGui; the exposure and color balance vary, even with images identically exposed and raw processed (in RawTherapee). I don’t know if this is inevitable or not; I have not had images of this high quality to work with before. Also, could the New HDR Merge dialog save the last used settings (alignment, ghosts, noise reduction, tone map)? Lastly, being able to export files as .psb would be useful. Thank you again . . . . —Russell
