  1. Is it going to be possible anytime soon to change the appearance of the guidelines? They can be very difficult to see at times and I can see no way to make them a little thicker or change their colour.
  2. The one thing that stops Affinity Designer from being the perfect tool for UI design for me is the lack of an ability to set up a guide layout. There is almost this functionality in the grid set up options, just without the ability to make grid tiles the full height of the artboard and add a default margin on the left/right/top/bottom independent of the gutter. The ability to save a guide layout preset in the Guide Manager and load it up in future documents has been mentioned previously, and this is potentially another great way to solve the problem, so +1 to that idea too. My issue is just that when setting up a new document I need to be able to quickly set up the bootstrap grid as guides before I start. My current workaround is to set up the guides in a document and use that as a template for any web UI work I need to do. Please consider adding a Guide Layout feature and/or Custom Guide Presets (honestly the Guides Manager is currently brilliant, it just needs extending). I'm so very close to being able to replace PS/AI with AF. Cheers
  3. Hi, I created a 24 x 36" (609.6 mm x 914.4 mm) document in Photo and added guides like this: Then I added 6 mm Canvas Size equally. But after clicking the Resize button, this is what I get: You could see that guides on the left and top are not visible! When I do this in Photoshop, all guides stay where they are! What might be the issue causing this in Photo? Am I doing something wrong? Any help would be appreciated.
  4. In this lesson we set up a document inside of Affinity using guides to create bleeds. Then we go on to create a business card. Check it out and go create. https://youtu.be/tDxQaOVVWrg *Please note that this was created in 2015 using version 1.2, there have been a lot of updates since and the upcoming release of 1.7 will solve my work arounds for this tutorial. Allan
  5. Hi everyone, Just need some help, I'm in the works of creating a (roughly) 200-page product catalogue. Is it possible to: 1) Copy & paste guides OR 2) Have guides copy over when adding new Artboards using the Documents preset. Creating new guides over and over for 200 pages is not gonna work very well haha. Cheers
  6. This is an issue I have run into only now. The Problem When using snapping, the distance between objects is not shown when moving them with the mouse while guides are enabled Nudging does show distances Distances are shown when not moving along guides How to reproduce Enable column guides Add a rectangle and match the width with that of the column guide Make a copy and move vertically below with snapping enabled Distance will not show Move rectangle copy horizontally on the same height as the first rectangle Distance is now shown when moving What I made sure of Snapping and snapping candidates are enabled and work All extra options are set (show gaps and sizes e.g.) To try and find a solution - without success Additional Info I am using Windows 10 64-bit Home Affinity Designer is at version 1.7.2.471 2019-09-03_00-26-26.mp4
  7. The isometric grids continue to displace when zooming, making very difficult to set precise nodes on it as the grid doesn't align with the magnet points. Fails on all perspective grids (ISO, ISO 2:1, dimetric, oblique, trimetric, triangular, etc.)
  8. I would like to suggest a feature to lock individual guides via the Guide Manager. This is a feature in Indesign that we utilize in our group layout process that we would like to see carried forward into Publisher. In a our workgroup of 20 graphic artist, copies writers, and layout team, it important to use to have guides that can not be moved. These guides to hold boundaries that are outside the constraints of our press margins. This ability would be most helpful.
  9. Is there any way of reproducing the layout of an artboard so that I can produce a 24 page document without having to set up the margins and guides on each artboard?
  10. I think guides should be visible even if they are outside of canvas/artboards
  11. Vertical Guides are being created in other artboards,... and i can't move them. Can't change position value. This is a recorrent bug in other tools envolving guides, column, margins.
  12. -PREAMBLE- I'm still not very happy about affinity's alt-dragging behaviour, where you have to decide BEFORE pressing the mouse, if you want to duplicate. From ID or AI I'm used to drag, and then think of all the modifier-keys to hold... But what's very annoying is that things don't snap to my guides anymore, while in alt-dragging mode. This has to be a bug, i'm sure!
  13. - The possibility to rotate and delete the guides directly from the art board by click and delete. (at the moment i can only deleat a guide if i drag it out from the art board, and this is annoying!). Also, if not asking too much, convert a draw object into a guide. (like old FreeHand used to do...) - The possibility to change type case (Lower / upper). - Perspective distortion tool!
  14. Is there a way to make a diagonal guide? I am doing some drawing in perspective and would like to snap to vanishing guideline. I was wanting to recreate a photograph I took of a glass walled office building. Part of that was to accurately scale the windows and I was using a trick with right triangles, the hypotenuse and adjacent sides, so I wanted a snap to the vanishing line; there may be an easier way to do it, but it seems to work.
  15. Has anyone of you lovely people experienced issues with guides? They used to work ok - a bit buggy, but now they're completely broken. If anyone has a hack to unlock artboard guides on ipad pro I'd be so grateful! When I navigate to guides>show guides I can't move any of the existing guides, the only function I can perform is to add new guides - but even though I can add guides, these cannot be moved by hand/apple pencil (only by adjusting coordinates). Many thanks.
  16. Hi when I add a guide I can just about see it in the image window, wish it was possible to alter colour and thickness!, but I can't see it in the rest of the app window or in the ruler bar so it is mega difficult to lign up exaxctly where required. PSElements is fine for this. Am I doing something wrong or have I missed a setting or selection somewhere? cheers.....
  17. Hello, how do I turn on the smart/audio guides like you get in photoshop? If you don't know what I am talking about, check the adobe link below: https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/how-to/align-space-objects.html
  18. A great feature I came to appreciate in other vector editors when doing perspective drawings or circular arrangements are slanted guides. In Designer, there are no slanted guides but the grid helps out. However, a full grid is not always needed. The workaround I use, is to make a "Guides"-Layer and put some lines on it as guides. With object snapping, these lines can be used as guides. Still, it would be nice to have an additional panel to set up slanted guides. Below a snippet from a program with slanted guides.
  19. Windows 10 Home 1809, Publisher 1.7.0.206. Unfortunately I can't give you a simple sample document that shows the problem as it doesn't always happen but sometimes when I: * have a master page with column guides; * then apply that master to a spread; * then create another master with 'normal' guides; * then apply that new master to the spread - as well as the other one, not replacing - the column guides sometimes: A. go invisible (often) while 'normal' guides are still visible; B. become visible again when I randomly drag the masters in the layout studio (infrequently works as a fix); C. get deleted all together; D. get renumbered to a much higher number, e.g. from 4 columns to 48 columns (only seen that once so far). Again, sorry I can't supply an example document. Hopefully I've given enough info' to start a small investigation.
  20. I haven't been able to find any way to create diagonal guides, despite all of the community feedback. Is this something that will be implemented in the next release?
  21. You should be able to create guides with any tool selected, at least any drawing tool. Not just the move tool.
  22. Hi, Affinity community, Can you accurately size construction guides in the new beta? I'm running version 1.7.0.4 and as you can see in the attached image, drawing construction circles by hand is not accurate. I tried multiple times to align a construction circle with a circle and failed every single time. I feel like I should be able to adjust construction circle size through the Transform panel for pixel-perfect accuracy. Also, I cannot seem to find a way to resize or delete construction circles. Guides Manager doesn't even identify them, and the Backspace button doesn't do anything while the guide is selected. Shouldn't I be able to delete guides the same way I can delete any other objects? Any help would be much appreciated. Cheers, Rob
  23. When setting up master pages I come to a point where I have so much guides that I am starting to get confused which guid was for what... For picture, textframes, etc. A possibility to assign different colors to guides with different meanings would be helpful to keep the orientation. e.g. all blue guides are for image alignment, red is for textframes, yellow for other design elements etc. Would it be possible to assign colors to guides? Is it possible to use geometric shapes as guides? Rectangular, triangular, circular etc? Or non-vertical, non-horizontal? E.g. I would like to have a 45° textframe stripe on a top corner of some pages, but not of all. Or a round bubble at a certain position of some pages, not of all... I think guides from geometric shapes would also help to keep the screen clean of "unnecessary" guides lines in some cases, as often I don´t need the whole vertical or horizontal line over both facing pages. I think also for geometric shape guides assigning different color would help for better overview. Maybe this feature is already included and I just did not find it?
  24. Hello, When setting up Column guides with the guide manager, I set it to outline not fill but when the document closes and is reopened it reverts back to the fill grey state.
