  1. When you drag guides into your document, sometimes you want to reset the origin of the measurements to align it with one guide, or with an intersection. In Photoshop, you do this by dragging from the small square that's at the origin of the rulers, but when I do rthis in Affinity, it doesn't work. How can I reset the origin of my measurements to somewhere within my document, based on guides I have created? Many thanks in advance.
  2. I created two vertical guides in my document (a front+back cover). I want to align a text box between the two guides representing the front cover margins. I cannot find a way to center it between these guides. I can center between the document's margins (which would center it on the spine), but not between two vertical guides. Is there a way to do this, other than just doing the math to calculate the midpoint?
  3. We need diagonal guideline the same as inskcape does !!! When this can be possible guys ?
  4. Well I got a new idea but instead of writing Tons of lines I just decided to open a 2 questions poll to see if my idea stands. Well, can discuss about here but answering the question would talk better while the points will stand as complementary ideas. Blessings!
  5. Hi everybody I'm quite new to Affinity Designer, been using it since a few days on iPad Pro and I am looking for a feature of some kind of a workaround. I would say I am quite proficient in some graphic design programs and from the mobility point of view it would be more than awesome if I could achieve the same results on Affinity Designer on my iPad. I watched all tutorials related to pencil and brush tool but couldn't find what I was interested in so therefore here is my question: Is there a way I could create curved guides and snap my brush strokes to them? For now all I could find are the vertical, horizontal and isometric modes but I would like to snap my brushes to rounded and curved guides (e.g. tight spiraling, multiple encompassing circles, undulating). Any tip that would get me there would be appreaciated, I'm not afraid of using complicated workarounds but for the moment I can't think of any. Thanks in advance and stay safe! ❦
  6. It would be useful to be able to select and option+drag guides to duplicate them, or copy and paste them to be used elsewhere in the document. It would also be useful to be able to select a series of guides and drag to move them as a group, or nudge them with the arrow keys to fine-tune their placement.
  7. While working on a document I noticed a floating guide outside the artboard. I can’t select or delete it in any way; resizing the artboard doesn’t work since the guide seems like anchored to it so it moves away when I move the edge (see the attachment). Isn’t any way to get rid of all the guides on a document, like a “delete all” command? Thanks IMG_2215.MP4
  8. Hi, I'm pretty new to Affinity Designer software. I am trying to create a guide by click and dragging from the ruler with the move tool. I have read the comments but I can't make head nor tails of it. Someone claims to have found the solution by "unlocking the guides". When I searched a topic on hoe to unlock guides someone answered that a lock/unlock function hadn't been added yet and would be added at a later date. So, at the moment my left eye is looking in my right trouser pocked with frustration. Any advice would be great. Thank you Rob
  9. When I turn off guides I'm still able to click and move them. If you accidentally click where a guide is [though invisible] you can move it. You should not be able to.
  10. How is it possible that if I have a 3x3 mm cell grid set it doesn't fit with a 15x3 mm rectangle? It is just an example, it happens with any other guide and object configuration. Attached screenshot so you can see what I am telling you (I have it configured in Spanish, but I think it is clearly understood) Thank you and health for all. P.S. I really like your program, but it is impossible to work correctly with this bug.
  11. If I create two artboards A and B and add artboard column guides to B, those guides do not show up when I drag in an object from artboard A to B until I deselect the dragged object and then reselect it. This makes placing the object accurately more difficult and is an unnecessary step that you have to repeat every time you drag in objects, which is a lot. Ideally, the guides should show up immediately when you drag an object into the artboard's space. MacOS 10.11.6, Mac Pro 3.1, Cintiq 21"UX, Affinity Designer 1.8.3 If there's a setting for this (I can't see a reason why there would be, but I've been wrong before), I will be very greatful for pointers. 12. Setting up guides in a document is not a fun task. There is no shortcut button or icon on any of the tool bars so you have to resort to the menu all the time, when guides are something we are always using. It would be great to have such a shortcut. Also, the guide manager, though rather easy to use, is not exactly pleasant. It creates a “default” guide at the center of the page. Granted, you can move it, but when you have several guides, seeing new numbers there just makes it confusing. It would be much better if the location or value window were empty to begin with. Also regarding the guide manager, once you double click on a value to change it, it is impossible to read what you are typing, because the background turns light and the font remain white. Finally, it would be great if guides could be treated as objects, a la Adobe Illustrator, so they can be copied, moved, etc. with a keyboard shortcut or while viewing its location somewhere, instead of having to enter the Guide Manager again. Thanks!
  13. the left/right/top/bottom guides in artboard document mode doesn't respond, it keeps referring back to 0. in the single board mode works perfectly.
  14. Hi folks, I believe this wasn't happenning in previous version so I have to ask - why are guidelines moving when I'm crop-rotating an image? Please, see the attached screencast depicting the issue. Is it a bug or a feature again? In the later case, please explain why and how should I continue working when I need to "lock" the guides to their position. Thanks for your response.
  15. Hello, ...yes, i’m just another guy asking for features… But i’m just trying to help to make AD better. Please consider to implement asap this tools in Designer because: - Knife tool: It’s not possible to cut groups in a fast way. (yes we can perform compound operations but only on one object at a time...) - Links: It’s a must for all the designers since most of the time we work with images in low resolution (to be fast and light) and for the final work we replace the pictures in the link folder for Hi resolution ones. - Roughen effect on a VECTORIAL line (Smith, hard, regular, irregular). this is soo needed!!! (Also, if possible, (like in old FreeHand: Fisheye, fractalize…) - Blend tool……. (Waited and promissed for so long) - 3D perspective. (Yes we have now the isometric grid, but as it says, it’s isometric, doesn’t have perspective). And related: - VECTORIAL “envelop” distortions. (at least, if we already had this tool, we could import a 3D grid (from a 3D software, blender for example) and adjust the perspective... - Option to remove one guide directly hitting the delete key because: We designers like to use big artboards and lots of sketches inside the artboard. It’s not practical to zoom out every time we want to remove a guide!… And, if not asking too much, the possibility to create a guide after a vectorial object (Like FreeHand used to do). And, the possibility to lean the guides (like in corel). Thanks! Please, let's make this software a really alternative to illustrator! Because at the moment it’s not. I still need illustrator to perform this tasks above. Thank you for your time, Best regards, Jorge
  16. Been trying to delete guides since yesterday in the Affinity Designer for Ipad. It can’t after going through the steps of opening guides, select guides and click delete but I can’t select to delete. IMG_0757.MOV
  17. On the Export Persona of Affinity Designer, I am able to create column guides via the Guide Manager but snapping to them doesn't work. I made sure that snapping to guides is turned on the main toolbar. Snapping to ruler guides does work, yay! I would also like to be able to reposition placed ruler guides by dragging directly over them aside from editing their values on the Guides Manager while on the Export Persona.
  18. Affinity Designer already has a grid and axis manager, to select diferente types of grids, like isometric, dimetric, …. Also it also has the isometric panel, that change planes to edit or fit objects in a given plane. A new option of grid could be developed to do perspective drawings, like on paper with One Point Perspective or Two Point Perspective, that uses vanishing points to create the illusion of depth in an drawing. And probably using a similar organization of isometric drawings. This use of the geometry in the grid and panel, would be very useful for to make this type of drawings. Now, we need to create lines to achieve this, and it is not practical or productive. Does anyone also finds this useful? Cheers
  19. When I try to use a guide it shows red and dotted but when I put the pencil on it to move it, the guide turns blue and will not move. Initially I could use horizontal but not vertical guides but now it's happening with the horizontal one too. Any ideas how to fix this? I saw and older thread which suggested this was a known bug and was being fixed as a matter of urgency. TIA
  20. Just purchased Affinty photo and I am very disappointed by the way guides and snapping are implemented. In short snapping just doesn't work, you just can't tell whether snapping is on or off , its not positive enough when snapping to either guides or the grid , I have tried this on 2 separate machines and get the same result. Secondly show/hide guides is also not working , the guides just stay on screen , again this happens on 2 separate machines. You really need to check out how this REALLY BASIC FUNCTIONALITY works in Photoshop and other graphics programmes too because this is the worst I have ever seen. Please fix this asap.
  21. Hi everyone, I really love Affinity Designer and want to stick with it and will! It works really well but it has some really important (to me) features missing. I have used CorelDRAW for a very long time but it is definitely bloated and slow at this point. I guess it is still based on some sort of old technology. Anyway, something I really like in Corel draw is the ability to have angled guides. You drag a guide onto the pasteboard just the same as Affinity and then as you can see at the top left of the screen grab I'm attaching, you get the option to change the angle. In fact, guides are added to a new layer which is, by default, set not print. This means you can lock the guides layer, move it up and down in the stack of layers et cetera. This is so useful in so many situations. Is this something Serif might consider adding to designer? Thanks. What do others think?
  22. I couldn't find a good or efficient way of creating a Central Perspective or a 2 Point Perspective Design, in Affinity Designer. I think the implementation of a new Grid Type would be the best solution (I included 2 pictures to give an example of what the grids would look like).
  23. Please add buttons for these when nothing is selected. In terms of workflow, they seem closely related to Document Setup. Like so:
  24. Good afternoon from here in NW New York, I am putting centering guidelines on a master for an 8.5x11" page divided into four 4.25x5.5" quarters. They seem to be fine on the master but when I apply them to the pages, they appear in different places than on the master, and sometimes they're missing altogether. What might I be doing wrong here? I'm careful to apply the right master :-) James
