  1. Something that is missing from Adobe Illustrator, and would be good in Affinity Designer are Technical Illustration Tools:- Isometric Grid, allowing constraint along 30º as well as vertical Isometric elipses (35º Elipses, with minor axis constrained to Grid Axis) Ability to join circles and ellipses with a tangent line tool, connecting one circle to another with a line. Ability to delete line or curve up to another intersecting line / lines / curves with a key stroke. 1 Draw a line or curve, 2 Draw two additional lines / curves, both overlapping original at different locations, 3 Select the middle part of the first line / curve 4 Press a key to delete the part of the line / curve up to each of the intersecting lines curves. 5 Option to select multiple lines / curves and perform this to all of them at the same time would be living the dream :-) Thanks Gaz 3dtp Ltd
  2. I want to work using a dimetric grid with the "Create plane set" option checked however I can't figure out what spacing is required to get the grid lines to intersect on the different plane sets. Screengrab attached to illustrate what I'm talking about. Absolutely love the way the grids/plane sets work for isometric and really hope it's possible to find the formula to get it to behave with non-isometric projections.
  3. I don't know if there is a reason this isn't possible or if I am missing something, but I can't get the plane set of any grid type but isometric to align with each other. When I make an isometric projection of a cube every plane of the grid just aligns and all the faces of the cube can join like this: But when I make a dimetric projection the planes don't align with each other and the faces of the cube can't align with the grid: I know I can just join the faces together anyway, but then the cube wouldn't align with the whole plane set. I don't know if this is possible, but I think a solution would be to shift the plane consisting of the first and up axis, and the plane consisting of the second and up axis down or up to align with the plane consisting of the first and second axis. I also found this topic about the same problem, but the solution given there is to alter the spacing of the up axis instead of shifting the whole plane. This would also alter the proportions:
  4. Hello, first off: wow, this app evolves quite quickly! Kudos to the dev-team. I always work with grids, so I was wondering why it doesn't appear on all pages? Maybe I’m doing something wrong? Screenshot show page 1 & 2 — but the grid only shows on page 1. Made a new document, same problem… kind regards! Benjamin
  5. Publisher 1.7.0.145 Launch Publisher Create a new document from the default settings Baseline Grid Manager > enable Use Baseline Grid Snapping Manager > enable Snap to baseline grid Save your blank document Quit Publisher Reopen Publisher by double-clicking the test document saved a moment ago The Snap to baseline grid option has been turned back off, although the other settings remain as they were previously. It doesn't seem to matter if you use View > Snapping Manager, or the Snapping controller in the toolbar across the top of the workspace.
  6. Hi, I would love you to consider adding a Phi Grid as an additional option to the existing cropping overlays. As you probably know, it is based on the Golden Mean just like the Golden Spiral but I find it more useful than the later for landscapes and other types of images. Thanks for all the outstanding work you are doing!
  7. Hello! Just installed the new AD beta. Now I have problems with the grid. I tried Studio -> Isometric - and it didn't work (nothing shows and the option doesn't get checked) but than the grid on/off also didn't work anymore. Now a new document has a grid which I cannot turn off. Actually all "Show XXX" buttons don't work anymore (except for Show Rulers). I can only unclick one at the time but nothing happens anyway. I am running it on a Win7 SP1. Best regards, Chris
  8. Hi, I'm very new to the Affinity tools and to graphics design. For several of my trainings I want to make an overview of subjects covered, like for example this grid: https://www.istqb.org/images/advanced-level-automation-engineer.png I could make it myself in Excel, but this is quite bland and not in the colors of my preference I would like to be able to create such a grid, with colors of my choice and with some nice effects that make it look nicer. However, I have absolutely no idea on how to start that. Can sombody elaborate which steps I would need to investigate and learn to be able to create a nice grid?
  9. When i set up a new document in designer iPad , no matter what size , the grid is always smaller by almost a third. than the page size. how do you get the page size and the grid size to be the same. Also can you set a master page so you don't have to set up a new page every time with the same settings that i always use? 12.9 Ipad Pro running IOS 12 and affinity Designer 1.6.2.42
  10. For the Baseline Grid Manager, there is the option to start the baseline relative to 'Top of Spread', 'Top of Page', or 'Top of Margin'. I have it set to top of margin, which should start it at the start of my margin (as it goes in the ID example, in orange). However, it still starts it at the top of the page (Publisher example in purple).
Sorry for my englisch Hello, you do a great job at Affinity. I liked testing and browsing in the BETA version. In my opinion, a design grid can not be created as easily as it is known from other programs. The "Grid and Axis Manager" can be used to create great design grids, but I can not tell him where the first grid cell should start. It would be very helpful if I could put the design grid in the type area (margins) or specify a starting point for the first grid cell.
  12. Ok, so one of the paramount useful features of Sketch is layout grids. Being able to define a layout grid with columns and gutters without resorting to a mess with guides is great. I believe the Affinity could improve greatly on the Sketch grid, so here is my proposition for the improved layout grid and thoughts on how it could interact with the constraints feature that really needs to be fleshed out as well. First of all Affinity Layout Grid Create Movable grids with columns and gutters Grids should be resizable but should keep their ratios Support for breakpoints in grid definition, eg. the same grid should switch to mobile view if resized smaller. Padding around the grid should be separated from gutter values. Support snapping Support nameable size ranges (breakpoints) (eg. define XL as a range, L as a range etc.) Affinity Improved Constraints Support fixed distance padding eg. 20px manually entered Constrain to columns from the layout grid Support and remember breakpoints when constraining to layout grid Toggle visibility based on layout grid range Reflow text options Support minimum flex, (eg. resize with this untill this unit is 100px wide) support Div flowing, when resized smaller than minimum flex, reflow other objects as divs would. Support different symbols based on layout grid range, toggle to replace an area with another symbol when going down to small views I'd love to see any number of these features implemented, with things like this we could actually create responsive flexible layouts that would be able to be resized instead of creating multiple views for each page.
  13. Good day (evening/night/morning)! What should I say... Hopefully I am not the only one who is missing the grid settings in the iPad app.
  14. Hello lovely ones! I am curious if I have missed a button and/or an entry in the manual which points me to some grid settings? I wanted to set up an isometric grid. But I couldn't find anything. [insert sad face here]
  15. Is there a way to change the default grid spacing or disable 'Use automatic grid'? This is the current default settings:
  16. In "Grid and Axis manager" the size of grid spacing measured in pixels. This is right for square grid, but has no sense for any other type of grid. Right now other grid types is defined by diagonal spacing in rotated pixels. The only reasonable way for artists measure non-square grid in pixels is to define some height or width of the grid in real non-rotated pixels, but not actual side of grid. To understand it better, please, take a look on my example, with typical for pixel artists 2:1 isometric grid.
  17. Affinity Photo. Set grid spacing to percentage as one can in PS.
  18. Hello. I proposed a new mesh functionality with a perspective setting. For now, I created such a net by hand: Designia_Perspective_Grid.afassets Regards example:
  19. I just bought Affinity Designer today so I'm probably missing something. I have show grid ticked and it shows, but I want to use triangles so go to Grid and Axis Manager and un-tick Use automatic grid, but now my grid has disappeared. The gird only shows with Use automatic grid ticked. Am I missing something or it this a bug? This is on Windows 8.
  20. Hey Im using Affinity Photo and I'm doing some pixel art. I'm using a brush that is 8x8 pixels. My grid spacing is 8x8 Pixels with no subdivisions. I was wondering if there is a way snap to grid but have the brush jump from grid square to grid square. So now I want the bursh just to snap to each indidvidual 8x8 grid space so every time i click its going to fill an 8X8 square within the bounderies of the grid. So my 8x8 brush always lines up with the grid. If i hold down shift and click on three points I want it to comes out like the image on the left. But right now I am getting the result on the right. I've played with the snapping setting but I can't quite figure it out. If anybody knows how to set this up please let me know. Thx
  21. Hello Affinity. I would like to propose a new document grid. Is there a chance to add a perspective grid, making it easier to create drawings using perspective? This grid was introduced in ArtRage 5 and it is very useful. For now, I created this grid by hand: Designia_Perspective_Grid.afassets Best Regards
  22. Ability to export with grid from the Affinity. Affinity allows you to quickly configure the grid. It will be very convenient for plans.
  23. I tried many settings under snap settings and if snap to grid is enabled, it allways is same snapping - it snap to between grid points and on the points and it doesn't matter if all settings except snap to grid is turned off or on. How to make snap in to only points?
  24. Is there any way to use 960 grid system on Affinity Designer? If so, how?
  25. Hi Affinity team, Im really liking the customisability of the grid systems. The only thing that I feel is missing is the ability to offset the grid, hopefully I just havent found the feature yet. Sometimes its important that the grid aligns with the middle of the document instead of the top left. :D Hopefully you understand what I mean, if not, i'll try upload an image. Cheers,
