  1. Dear developers, I found a bug in PDF editing with linear gradient. Please check these steps: Create a (CMYK) project in Affinity Photo Place a photo to background Place a Rectangle to your project Fill Rectangle with linear gradient with breakpoint, and will two gradients (see attachment) save and export to PDF open PDF and see gradient bug: put a mask what incorrect, not same as in project under any PDF version. Please fix this if possible, because if I have PDF only, no project, then need create again this gradient. Same results under Photo and D
  2. Windows 10 - Publisher 1.7.0.128. Is there a way to get a Linear Gradient to be anything other than horizontal in a Text Frame fill? For example, I'd like to be able to make a gradient from light grey at the top, going down to white at the bottom. I've looked around a bit but I can't see anything relevant. It's not a big issue as I can easily do what I want another way (well, probably a few other ways), I'm wondering if I'm just not seeing a better solution.
  3. It looks like something's wrong with the Styles Pane options in iPad. Is this a known issue? Or is there something of which I'm unaware regarding my iPad? The righthand image is from my Mac.
  4. It would be extremely cool to be able to apply a gradient to a Gaussian blur on an object. Say you have a rectangle - the Gaussian blur could go from 0 at one end to 10px (or whatever) on the other. The object would start out solid and crisp at the one end, and gradually become more blurred towards the other. Would be nice for creating more realistic shadows, etc.
  5. I start with a portrait-oriented Untitled. After selecting the fill tool, the type won't change from "None". It snaps back and won't stay selected after I choose from the popup Type menu. Please advise, thank you.
  6. When creating a Gradient for a Gradient Map, in order to save it the only option seems to be to click the 'Add Preset' button, which adds it as an adjustment preset. The problem is that there doesn't appear to be any way to import/export these presets. I've instead tried saving gradients as Swatches (as Swatches can be imported/exported), but these don't work properly for Gradient Maps. Is there a way to import/export Gradients for Gradient Maps that I'm overlooking?
  7. Hi, "personas"! I am new to Affinity, but I am learning fast and now I need help. After learning how to use gradient tool, I was working on perspective and noticed that the gradient effect won't follow the changes (see image). I am using Affinity Design and the gradient was applied to simple shapes. I don't want to rasterise them. Does anyone know how to make the gradient follow the changes? Thanks. Love, from Brazil
  8. I searched but did not find mention of this, but from what can tell from the Affinity Designer Fill Tool help topic, the Apply to Fill button should but does not set the target for the Rotate, Reverse, Aspect, or Delete buttons to the fill. Instead those buttons always affect the stroke, as if the Apply to Stroke button was enabled.
  9. Hello Everyone, i am using Affinity Designer version 1.6.4 on windows today i made something in affinity designer. and then exported it i was using gradient but in the exported PNG file. the Gradient is not Smooth. in affinity designer preferences Dither Gradients is Checked see the image https://imgur.com/h8ic2rh
  10. Hello, I'm evaluating Affinity Designer and Photo to replace AI and PS in our workflow, what I need is to make a very smooth gradient without artifacts, is there a setting in AD where I can do this?
  11. Hi How do I add a 2 colour say red and blue to either replace the sky or over lay or maybe a gradient vignette
  12. Hi guys. Carefully ported gradients from https://webgradients.com/ It may contain some inaccuracies, but in general it is usable. Enjoy. WebGradients.zip
  13. Whenever I try to use the gradient tool to apply a tiling pattern, this is what I get instead:
  14. It might be useful to have a way to apply a gradient on a curved path, and even a custom path, instead of just a straight line/other preset option.
  15. I've tried to create a smooth gradient which - after discovering that dithering is a 'performance' option in the settings and disabling it - looks OK in Affinity Photo. However, exporting the image (apparenly no matter what format) re-introduces the noise and my gradient is once again not smooth: (left: magnification of the gradient as displayed in Affinity Photo. right: magnification of the exported png image) Not being able to completely disable dithering is imho either a bug or a terrible oversight. another thing that seems dodgy about gradients is that sometimes change
  16. I've noticed this issue a few times over the past few weeks. I will be adjusting colors and opacity in the gradient panel of Designer when the program will crash. I don't feel like I'm doing anything out of the ordinary, but thankfully everything has been recovered. Process: Affinity Designer [50146] Path: /Applications/Affinity Designer.app/Contents/MacOS/Affinity Designer Identifier: Affinity Designer Version: 1.6.1 (1.6.7) App Item ID: 824171161 App External ID: 826083165 Code Type: X86-64 (Native
  17. Even though I have removed the shortcut "G" from the Gradient tool and assigned it to the Fill tool, I always get the Gradient tool when pressing "G". I then have to press "G" a second time to get the Fill tool. "G" is not assigned to anything else when I look through the shortcuts. I have tried removing Affinity Photo and the .plist file found in Preferences without success. There may be other shortcuts that would cause trouble, but I have not reassigned other tools.
  18. I'm working on a SkillShare tutorial to un-stuck myself and get back in to design. This problem seems silly, but I keep running into little hurdles in Affinity Design that I am having trouble surmounting. The current lesson has the vector watercolor strokes you see in picture one being turned into gradient strokes in picture 2. Picture 2 can probably be accomplished easily with a gradient map, but I'm failing to get the white-to-black transition in either pixel or vector brushes (Designer or Photo). I play with the controller and luminosity settings to no avail — my str
  19. PDFs support object masks and gradients, a vector clipping mask applied to a gradient shape in Illustrator CC 2017 exported to a PDF generates a fully vectorized result without resorting to rasterization. On the other hand, Illustrator 1.6.4 cannot export gradient clipping masks/effects/overlays without rasterizing the final result. Unfortunately, because of the nature of JPEG(2000) compression algorithm, gradients are really expensive and it's a very costly tradeoff between file size and quality. Is there a plan to support PDF gradient masks?
  20. Struggling to get a gradient to appear across multiple objects within a group. Have experimented with removing sub-groups and changing stroke settings etc.. no difference. See attachment, the items should be mostly red, but instead, they're showing as just the Yellow. Have tried multiple restarts and on multiple laptops with different installs, (but both 1.6.1) -B
  21. Why I have this problem with greyscale gradients. Yuo can see on the upper image the gradient is smooth, but when I load that image in affinity photo I get this uneven transition. I have attached the original image.
  22. Hello! A picture probably says more than thousand words. Please have a look at the attached image. I'm trying to recreate this "polygon" look. I know how to create a gradient over several objects by selecting them at the same time. Is it possible to add these artifical "steps" over the gradient's colors? Similar to the orange-to-red gradient in the attached image. Or is it all done manually? If you know any other hints on how to create this or similar polygon looks, I'd be happy to know them as well!
  23. In the Layer styles panel, I would find it very useful to make a gradient repeat itself when applied to something. For example If I have an assortment of colors that are applied to text, if it repeated the gradient I don't have to create an endless pattern of the same colors. With a repeat option it would apply the already set up gradient and repeat it across the span of the entire text object.
  24. It would be very useful to apply dodge and burn as a gradient, not just as a brush. Also, Also, it is a nuisance that the box of the blend range opens always in the center of the image with which you are working. And having to move it aside, each and every time you open it, so that it does not hinder the vision of the changes you make. Thanks and regards.
  25. Try this: 1. New document. 2. Click once on the Rectangle Tool (or type "M") 3. Click the square to the right of "Fill:" in the upper left corner of the window. 4. Click on the "Gradient" tab. 5. Note there is no field to set the ANGLE. Please add that. Why? Because Illustrator has one and for good reason. Yes, you can set the angle by going outside the Gradient panel, choosing the gradient tool and then manually doing it. But if one is already working inside the Gradient tab (especially for matters of precision), it is only logical that an ANGLE setting should be in there t
