  1. I apply an object style to a text frame. To get rid of it, I disable all layer effects* – all gone except for a grainy gradient, which also appears in the circled color and swatches previews, with HSL sliders in color palette. This structure appears to be resolution-independent: when I zoom in it is more detailed. – Great! When I now in the color pane move a slider, or switch from HSL to CMYK, both the texture and the gradient disappear, leaving an average color. No gradient, no structure. – Where is this structure defined? – Can I access the grainy structure seperately? * is there a shorter way to remove an object style than unselecting its layer-effects one by one?
  2. Bonjour Je n'arrive pas à répartir un dégradé correctement. Quelques soit le nombre de point insérer ceux-ci ne sont pris en compte que dans les premiers 50% du dégradé. D'avance merci pour votre réponse. Hi E.T.
  3. I'm using Affinity Designer for Windows and exporting SVGs with gradients for use with Unity. Unfortunately, Unity's SVG importer seems to have issues with the gradients. Here is what the Unity developer said: For reference, here is the exported circle w/ gradient: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" standalone="no"?><!DOCTYPE svg PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD SVG 1.1//EN" "http://www.w3.org/Graphics/SVG/1.1/DTD/svg11.dtd"><svg width="54px" height="54px" version="1.1" xmlns="http://www.w3.org/2000/svg" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink" xml:space="preserve" xmlns:serif="http://www.serif.com/" style="fill-rule:evenodd;clip-rule:evenodd;stroke-linejoin:round;stroke-miterlimit:1.41421;"><path id="GradientHill" d="M0.012,26.717c0,-14.743 11.97,-26.713 26.714,-26.713c14.743,0 26.713,11.97 26.713,26.713c0,14.743 -11.97,26.713 -26.713,26.713c-14.744,0 -26.714,-11.97 -26.714,-26.713Z" style="fill:url(#_Linear1);"/><defs><linearGradient id="_Linear1" x1="0" y1="0" x2="1" y2="0" gradientUnits="userSpaceOnUse" gradientTransform="matrix(3.2714e-15,-53.4261,53.4261,3.2714e-15,26.7255,53.43)"><stop offset="0" style="stop-color:#9d9d9d;stop-opacity:1"/><stop offset="0.47" style="stop-color:#e9e9e9;stop-opacity:1"/><stop offset="1" style="stop-color:#fff;stop-opacity:1"/></linearGradient></defs></svg> Does anyone know if what he says is possible? An AD export option to force gradients to be defined earlier in the file? Thanks!
  4. Hey! I wasn't entirely sure if this went here, or feature requests, but I'll give it a go: I'm required to deliver work in .ai format, but I absolutely prefer using Designer as my main tool. However, whenever I attempt to import work with gradients in it into illustrator, it becomes rasterized. I'm not sure this is something you/Affinity can do anything about, but it really slows down my work flow when I have to remove all gradients and reapply them in illustrator, in order to use Affinity Designer for the work i need. Attached two files: One view of an object with a gradient in Affinity (tried with app store version and the current beta) and view of illustrator. Top leaf saved in Designer as EPS and "placed," bottom leaf copied and pasted. The square to the left is the raster image added within a clipping path that happens (see the layer panel.) Worth a shot! :) Let me know if I'm being impossible!
  5. I've been trying to figure out how can I change width of line/brush stroke that goes gradually from 0 to any desired width. Maybe there is something in stroke/brush properties. I tried: Properties when Stroke card selected also Edit brush (preassure) So I edited my custom brush as shown in the picture below but curve still has equal width all the way. Thanks for the advices or links to this kind of issue if there is already! Martin
  6. Hi. The linear gradient always comes out by default with one white end and the other neutral gray. 99% of the time I use a white end and it's another black one. Does anyone know any way to save this gradient as default? Thank you very much and greetings.
  7. I struggle to create gradient fills easily and efficiently. Here are the two methods that I use, and perhaps the only way. I'd be curious if someone out there has another method. Method one: Create object select "G" on the keyboard draw gradient Select the Gradient color box at the top toolbar make active a node on the gradient line select color from colour box Repeat steps 6 -7 for each node in the gradient line. Method two: Create object select "G" on the keyboard draw gradient Select the node in gradient bar Select Swatches tab in the docker on the right Select color in the Swatches pallet. Repeat steps 5 -6 for each node in the gradient line. Suggested Improvements: A) What I would like to see is the ability to double click on the color node on the object itself, not the node from the methods above, and by double click the node a swatches pallet opens for you to make your color selection. B) Another option would be to select color node, select the eyedropper in the tool bar and while holding the Shift key down select the color you want applied to that node. This method is great for sampling color from other drawings or reference images. I appoligize if there is another method alreay in place, I just haven't come across it yet. Thanks in advance. -Bill
  8. I am working in publisher but I'm guessing this is a feature in designer as well. Anyways, I some how created this double gradient and I am not entirely sure how. Could anyone help? Also, is it possible to do this with the transparency tool to have it fade out in a square pattern?
  9. Hey there fellow affinity users. i have a simple question regarding Affinity Designer. Is there a a way to either copy a a color gradient or if possible to save it to use later? I typed out some text, went to fill and changed the color to a gradient that goes from light blue to pink. then i realized i need to use it again and i don't know how to copy it. i cant remake it because it wont be the same... Also if possible it would be nice to maybe save it as a custom one if possible to use again down the road..
  10. Windows 10 - Publisher 1.7.0.128. Is there a way to get a Linear Gradient to be anything other than horizontal in a Text Frame fill? For example, I'd like to be able to make a gradient from light grey at the top, going down to white at the bottom. I've looked around a bit but I can't see anything relevant. It's not a big issue as I can easily do what I want another way (well, probably a few other ways), I'm wondering if I'm just not seeing a better solution.
  11. It looks like something's wrong with the Styles Pane options in iPad. Is this a known issue? Or is there something of which I'm unaware regarding my iPad? The righthand image is from my Mac.
  12. It would be extremely cool to be able to apply a gradient to a Gaussian blur on an object. Say you have a rectangle - the Gaussian blur could go from 0 at one end to 10px (or whatever) on the other. The object would start out solid and crisp at the one end, and gradually become more blurred towards the other. Would be nice for creating more realistic shadows, etc.
  13. I start with a portrait-oriented Untitled. After selecting the fill tool, the type won't change from "None". It snaps back and won't stay selected after I choose from the popup Type menu. Please advise, thank you.
  14. When using the gradient tool it is too eager to create new stops when I click on existing stops. See attached GIF where, each time I click on an existing stop, Publisher creates a new stop (in a seemingly random place). A long click will select the existing stop - assuming you don't accidentally move the mouse too much and make the stop move - but short-clicking is different behaviour to that in Designer where the stop is selected. I'm not sure if this is how it it supposed to work in Publisher, but it seems a little counter-intuitive to me and not as easy to use as in Designer.
  15. Hi, "personas"! I am new to Affinity, but I am learning fast and now I need help. After learning how to use gradient tool, I was working on perspective and noticed that the gradient effect won't follow the changes (see image). I am using Affinity Design and the gradient was applied to simple shapes. I don't want to rasterise them. Does anyone know how to make the gradient follow the changes? Thanks. Love, from Brazil
  16. Hello Everyone, i am using Affinity Designer version 1.6.4 on windows today i made something in affinity designer. and then exported it i was using gradient but in the exported PNG file. the Gradient is not Smooth. in affinity designer preferences Dither Gradients is Checked see the image https://imgur.com/h8ic2rh
  17. Hello, I'm evaluating Affinity Designer and Photo to replace AI and PS in our workflow, what I need is to make a very smooth gradient without artifacts, is there a setting in AD where I can do this?
  18. Hi How do I add a 2 colour say red and blue to either replace the sky or over lay or maybe a gradient vignette
  19. Hi guys. Carefully ported gradients from https://webgradients.com/ It may contain some inaccuracies, but in general it is usable. Enjoy. WebGradients.zip
  20. It might be useful to have a way to apply a gradient on a curved path, and even a custom path, instead of just a straight line/other preset option.
  21. I'm working on a SkillShare tutorial to un-stuck myself and get back in to design. This problem seems silly, but I keep running into little hurdles in Affinity Design that I am having trouble surmounting. The current lesson has the vector watercolor strokes you see in picture one being turned into gradient strokes in picture 2. Picture 2 can probably be accomplished easily with a gradient map, but I'm failing to get the white-to-black transition in either pixel or vector brushes (Designer or Photo). I play with the controller and luminosity settings to no avail — my strokes all look flat and only show lightness or darkness when I overlap them. Suggestions warmly greeted! West Coast Namaste!
  22. Hello! A picture probably says more than thousand words. Please have a look at the attached image. I'm trying to recreate this "polygon" look. I know how to create a gradient over several objects by selecting them at the same time. Is it possible to add these artifical "steps" over the gradient's colors? Similar to the orange-to-red gradient in the attached image. Or is it all done manually? If you know any other hints on how to create this or similar polygon looks, I'd be happy to know them as well!
  23. In the Layer styles panel, I would find it very useful to make a gradient repeat itself when applied to something. For example If I have an assortment of colors that are applied to text, if it repeated the gradient I don't have to create an endless pattern of the same colors. With a repeat option it would apply the already set up gradient and repeat it across the span of the entire text object.
  24. It would be very useful to apply dodge and burn as a gradient, not just as a brush. Also, Also, it is a nuisance that the box of the blend range opens always in the center of the image with which you are working. And having to move it aside, each and every time you open it, so that it does not hinder the vision of the changes you make. Thanks and regards.
  25. Try this: 1. New document. 2. Click once on the Rectangle Tool (or type "M") 3. Click the square to the right of "Fill:" in the upper left corner of the window. 4. Click on the "Gradient" tab. 5. Note there is no field to set the ANGLE. Please add that. Why? Because Illustrator has one and for good reason. Yes, you can set the angle by going outside the Gradient panel, choosing the gradient tool and then manually doing it. But if one is already working inside the Gradient tab (especially for matters of precision), it is only logical that an ANGLE setting should be in there too. Thanks!
