Hi All I'm importing a two colour pdf - 199C and 430U. The fonts (430U) - Bembo aren't on my new mac yet so the text won't show when I place the image - not even in the layers. The image part of the pdf - 199C shows. Is this a font issue or a mix in pantone - C's and U's? Can anybody out there come up with a simple explanation, I've recently started using Affinity Designer so a real newbie. Thanks in anticipation Vernon

When editing a document on 2 machines, it would be nice to have an option to embed all used fonts into the document or a function which collects all related files into a single folder to give them along with the document. -- Harald

Does Affinity Photo recognize embedded fonts in a pdf file? I print a lot of wide format graphics and there are times when i need to layout files a certain way that the RIP will not let me and I need to do it in photoshop. When I open the file in AP, if there are fonts involved, it asks me to replace them if they are not available. In PS, it recognizes the embedded fonts and it rasterizes the file without a hitch. Is this a feature that is coming, or a bug? I understand that if I need to make changes to the text, I need the font, but most of the time I just need to convert the file to a raster file. Thanks for any help.

Just downloaded an AD file that contained fonts that were not on my system. Is there a way to do a 'search & replace" for fonts, or otherwise exercise some control over the font substitution? Cheers!

I’m a type designer and like to test my fonts in Affinity apps. There is one problem. If you re-install the same font with slight changes in Font Book, the systems font caches are corrupted. For me that means cleaning them and restarting every 10 minutes. Indesign (and all Adobe design apps) have the ability to load fonts from a folder in 'Application Support/Fonts' and from a 'Fonts' folder that is next to the document (the later option makes it much more convenient to work with different people on the same file). As soon as you change the font, Adobe apps will reload it and update the document. MacOS provides great APIs to activate fonts per app so this is technically possible.

The addition of the recent fonts at the top of the font list in Affinity Designer 1.4 is great when you have just a couple of fonts you're using for a project and you need to switch between them. However, I've found it gets in the way when I'm in the early phase of choosing fonts to use. If I'm auditioning fonts, going through my font collection methodically, I lose my place each time I select something new. I can't use the keyboard to jump back by typing the font name either, because it jumps to the recents at the top. A potential solution would be to always start back at the current font's position in the list instead of in the recents, since it's much easier to scroll to the top than to find your place again. And all things considered, the recent font menu may be something of a stopgap anyway until Designer gets text styles via Affinity Publisher.

I stumbled across a problem. I used the text tool in AD to create some special characters with fill and stroke, but when I wanted to go back to write some other text, I couldn't get rid of what I had added, so all the text came out garbled as it was a smaller size and the stroke just messed it up. I have chosen no stroke but to no avail. It continued even when I started a new project. What gives?

I am enjoying the Affinity Designer app however, I am facing Issues when I am using devanagri fonts. I did search a lot in the app for options related to Indic languages. However, I cannot find it. My kind request to the developers of Affinity to provide a support for Indic Languages. I have also attached a photo regarding this issue. I have used Illustrator to explain the situation since I cannot in affinity.

I just downloaded Affinity Designer for some marketing materials. I have a font 'Proxima Nova' that I've purchased and downloaded into my computer. It shows up in Affinity Designer but it will not allow me to use the font in italics. I can use italics for other fonts but not this one. Could really appreciate help. Thanks!

Hi! To start with, I am totally new to this and no basically nothing (besides what I've learned from some video tutorials in the past hour). I am trying to create a post for a website that has it's own title, and I want the title to be in the same family (font and color) as the company's logo. The fonts in the logo are "Bebas Neue" and "AvantGarde Bk BT" but I don't see either of those on the font drop down list. Is there anyway to find them, add them, buy them? Please and thank you, I need all the help I can get! :) -E -
This is pretty wacky and I'll be watching its development. Thought I'd share it here for other fontholics to appreciate: https://www.behance.net/gallery/29461079/Typography-Impossible-Font

Hello! I am a font designer and I constantly use the Application font folder in Adobe Illustrator. The folder I'm referring to is cited here in the section "About Fonts": http://helpx.adobe.com/illustrator/using/fonts.html My workflow involves editing glyphs in my font editor, then exporting the font files to this Adobe font folder. This is important because I can test small changes in my fonts very quickly without needing to install and uninstall fonts to and from the system (which often requires a restart.) We're talking about hours and hours of time saved thanks to this folder. It's vital to my work. There are other benefits to this folder. Say you've purchased a new font and you're not sure if you're going to use it very much, or just want quickly to test it on a single project. You can drop the files in this folder and test it out in Illustrator without installing the font in your system. Is there a chance of seeing a similar feature in Affinity Designer? This feature is the only reason I still use Adobe Illustrator. Without it, though, I cannot fully make the switch to Designer. None of the competition offers this feature either. Thanks for your consideration.

Re: Affinity Photo Im trying to create a circle with a check mark going through it. My thought was to use a circle and a Zapf Dingbat font that creates a check mark. But when I choose that font all I get is a black square. Does Zapf Dingbats work? Am I doing something wrong? Shows in my Font Book it's active. Is there a better way to go about this? Thanks

Hi there, I have just downloaded Affinity Designer and I use a MacBook Pro running OS 10.7.5. When launched, the the 'font size' dropdown box and the 'font type' dropdown box have switched places. Also, the font type box is empty and when I click on it to view the different types of fonts nothing happens - there are no fonts showing (fonts are visible in other applications). I have attached a screen shot that makes my issue a little clearer. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks. Designer no font select.tiff

I set up a mostly text-only doc in Designer for layout; used an actual paid-for HTF font, and it looks great on screen. When printing, or exporting to PDF, I get postscript hash text instead of the font/text. Font was manually activated using Font Explorer, and I've had zero issues with the font or printing the font using Illustrator in the past. Also tested the font using TextEdit, no issues there, either. Any idea? This is as close to a deal breaker as it gets for me; seems unwieldy/antiquated to convert text to curves to print or export.

Hello, I have a big problem... I'd like to be able to type in Japanese using the text tool in Affinity Designer, but whenever I use the text tool and type in Japanese, it gives me these yellow blocks... I think that Affinity Designer is available in Japanese as well, so I was wondering if this was a glitch, or if Japanese text is not supported in the English language software? I need to use Japanese in my work so it would be most helpful..... thank you!

Can you speed up the load time of fonts in your next release? I have about 7-800 fonts, and it takes forever to scroll down my list. I didn't have this issue with Adobe Illustrator. Thank you
