  1. Hello, I've just created a Logo in Affinity Photo, using an Anchor Symbol along with some Text, using the fonts "Big Carlson" and "Baskerville" (I've manually added some fonts, but I think they are default fonts that come with Affinity Photo, right?). As the Logo will be shown on websites and probably printed, too, my question is: Do I need to buy a license for these fonts, or can I use them for whatever and wherever? If I need a License, where can I buy it? Would be great if someone could answer that. LFF
  2. Is there a chart or list of which Wingdings symbol is bound to which key on the keyboard? In other words, how do I select one symbol from all of the Wingdings without having to press each key on the keyboard to find it? How do I distinguish the keystrokes for the various groups of Wingdings on the Fonts list? Where can I find a chart or list if such thing exists? Suppose I want to insert a right-facing arrow into a photo I am editing... Thanks for your help.
  3. Is there anyone has my situation. :( :( When I select the fonts,it will stuck for a while even more longer. Ps:1.5.1.43for windows
  4. Hi! I am new to the Affinity forum, and also to the programs, but I seem to have found a problem no one posted yet, and it would be important for me to be solved (or for me to be shown a solution). I want to import a .pdf file, that was written by whatever software, and it contains texts, that were neither rasterized, nor converted to curves (outlined). When I open the .pdf in Adobe Reader, it shows all fonts as they should be. When I import it in Photoshop, it is able to rasterize the fonts correctly. When I import the .pdf file in AP it asks me what to prefer: keeping texts (and losing font properties), or losing texts (but keeping graphics unchanged). This button does not seem to do what it proposes to do. I do not need to edit texts, but I need the opened graphics to look exactly like they do in Adobe Reader, so I opened with the "favor editable text over fidelity" unticked (and also "replace missing fonts" option unticked). Yet the opened graphics is full of editable texts, and the missing fonts are replaced. Do you know about this issue? Is there a solution planned? Am I doing something wrong? (I attached the file that I tried with. Enough to import the first page.) Thank you for your answer, and sorry if I violated any forum guidelines, let me know what to do differently next. Best Regards, Tamás Handbook_For_Facilitators_Learning_To_Learn_June_2012.pdf
  5. Hey guys, what do you think about adding a method of selecting fonts similar to Photoshop or Flash. - Typing the letters from the font name narrows the search options (not only the first letter). - Browsing the fonts by UP and DOWN arrow keys. Thanks in advance!
  6. I would really like to see more fonts included, but since they are limited... Can I import a better selection of fonts? If yes, what is compatable? What font group(s) product is best? How do I import and use them? Thank you, Scott
  7. Hello there, I'm in the process of seriously considering Affinity over photoshop / illustrator as I've read great things about it. All seems ideal for me as I am a web developer and tend to use photoshop for concept development and provision and illustrator for any print material I may work on. One aspect that isn't that clear is font support. There is mention of open type support but if i have a client who has purchased fonts or has specific fonts required, if I have these fonts in my library on my computer, does affinity support importing these (all types) for use in Photo and Designer? In other words, does Affinity support professional purhased fonts, google fonts etc etc.. Thanks
  8. This is pretty wacky and I'll be watching its development. Thought I'd share it here for other fontholics to appreciate: https://www.behance.net/gallery/29461079/Typography-Impossible-Font
  9. Hi guys, Just got Designer, trying to find my way around. I purchased an OTF from Creative Market, I got it because of the glyphs that came with it. But I can't find a glyphs panel or options in Designer. Hope you can help and steer me in the right direction! Cheers, Maggie
  10. See this in the AD beta https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/30106-15141-crash-scrolling-through-fonts-and-selecting-last-font-in-list/ Exactly the same is happening when scrolling through the font list and selecting a Font in the Character tab. 11. 1) Added new Artistic text object 2) Scrolled through fonts list in Character tab 3) Selected last font in list Crash Attached is the Dump file 07718ebd-31b1-438f-a962-36636ba356be.dmp
  12. I'm using Affinity Designer on Windows. When I use some of the iOS assets (provided in the bonus bundle) I am presented with a message advising that various SF (San Francisco) fonts are not installed (which is understandable, because they are Apple fonts). I have found alternative fonts on Github (https://github.com/AppleDesignResources/SanFranciscoFont), but the font names are slightly different to those used in the provided assets. I suspect there is a way to tell Affinity Designer to always use the alternative fonts, but I can't figure out how to do it. Or, is there something else I can do to resolve this issue? I'm a long-time Serif customer (DrawPlus, etc). Loving Affinity Designer - thank you for a wonderful product at a very fair price. Thanks.
  13. When purchasing Adobe CC, you get a lot of fonts for free. Same thing if you buy Corel Draw. Is it the case with Affinity Designer too? If so, what are the fonts? I'm on Windows 10. Olivier
  14. Can't seem to get letter spacing (kerning) to become active regardless of font used. The drop-down menu shows either 'auto' or '0%' as active, with all other available spacing options (i.e., -5% etc) greyed out. To replicate, type some text, then select Text->Show Character (or CTRL+T), and try to enter a value to adjust kerning (top left box under 'Positioning and Transform').
  15. A few days back I was using Affinity Designer (Windows), designing a logo and modifying a pre-existing font to suit my needs when it hit me. I wanted to design my own font/fonts! I searched the web to find a program that might be good for this, but all the programs on the market didn't look too amazing. The interfaces looked clumsy, unappealing and even though I am sure that they are good, I felt as if they were limited and always needed a separate program to complement them for their lack in one area or another. In most of the videos and tutorials I watched, people tended to use Adobe Illustrator to make the letters and then import the paths into the font editor. So I thought to myself; "What if Affinity Designer would have a font editor built into it, or a stand-alone software that would have the amazing interface of Affinity Designer and its ease of use?". So my suggestion is, that it would be AMAZING to have/buy an extension for Affinity Designer to be able to edit and export fonts! I do know that it is not "just" programming an extension/add-on of that sort to Affinity, but I can't imagine it being too difficult either. I mean you have all the tools that are needed for the job and the extra "specific" tools for font editing could perhaps fit under a new persona in the upper left? A font persona. That would make Affinity even more of a killer software! It would be nice if you guys considered adding this. I mean I really like Affinity Designer and I will most likely buy it on release, but I would also love to buy a font editor from you since I know that you would make it easy and fun to work with!
  16. I want to design tickets in designer and am looking for a font where the numbers also have the words inserted into the number. You will all have seen them on the cloakroom tickets sold in books of 1000. Any bright ideas? CRG
  17. Some fonts are incorrectly shown as 'Segoe UI' in the dropdown list and display as Arial when selected. Dingbat font names are still displayed using the font itself instead of something legible (e.g. Segoe UI or Arial). I've annotated the attached screenshot with the names that should appear. MT Extra and MT Symbol are MathType fonts; NWC2STD2, like NWCV15 listed immediately below it, came with NoteWorthy Composer 2 Demo, which I downloaded in the wake of this discussion three months ago. Affinity Photo on Windows beta build 1.5.0.35 exhibits exactly the same problems as Affinity Designer on Windows beta build 1.5.0.35.
  18. I'm trying to use an icon font called Pe-icon-7-stroke that is installed on my system. However, the name is not correctly shown in the font list, even though I'm able to select and use it. Once selected, the correct name shows up in the box: The icon font can be downloaded for free here: http://www.pixeden.com/icon-fonts/stroke-7-icon-font-set Using Windows 10 and 1.5.0.25 RC1. On a related note: I am unable to interact with this font list via keyboard. Ideally there would be some sort of search and filter operation that lets me type part of the font name. This does not seem possible. I would have expected to be able to at least jump to fonts that start with P by pressing the letter P on the keyboard.
  19. Hi, In LibreOffice I have the option to embed the fonts used in creating a document in the document file (for those interested, you'll find it under the "font" tab in the file properties). This has as advantage that someone else working on that document can also work with the fonts used without having to explicitly install them - they remain contained in the document and are only available there. Would it be possible to have such also available for AD and AP? If not, is there a way to get a list of fonts used so it can be checked if they are available at any other party involved in the workflow? Thnx ! :)
  20. Getting an issue with fonts appearing grainy on screen when using Designer. Applies to all the fonts I've tried, including the Roboto featured in the UI pack. Problem occurs on both the retina screen of my MBP and the 24" external monitor I have. Exporting an artboard shows fonts as they should be, so it looks like it's something to do with the in-app rendering.
  21. I'm experiencing some issues with exported PDFs and display of fonts in AD 1.5.0.19 When I export the document with the WEB setting, fonts are rasterised when in groups where layer FX is applied to ANY object within the group. (See attached Leaflet for WEB) If I select the PRINT profile, occasionally fonts disappear entirely, also (I think) related to being grouped with other layers. (See attached Leaflet for PRINT) I've also attached the original file for you to look at. I removed raster images from the file to make it quicker to upload, otherwise it was 35MB! Leaflet for PRINT.pdf Leaflet for WEB.pdf Leaflet NO IMAGES.afdesign
  22. The addition of the recent fonts at the top of the font list in Affinity Designer 1.4 is great when you have just a couple of fonts you're using for a project and you need to switch between them. However, I've found it gets in the way when I'm in the early phase of choosing fonts to use. If I'm auditioning fonts, going through my font collection methodically, I lose my place each time I select something new. I can't use the keyboard to jump back by typing the font name either, because it jumps to the recents at the top. A potential solution would be to always start back at the current font's position in the list instead of in the recents, since it's much easier to scroll to the top than to find your place again. And all things considered, the recent font menu may be something of a stopgap anyway until Designer gets text styles via Affinity Publisher.
  23. We know everything changes quickly in programming world and related to. Everyday, new fonts come out and Affinity Designer is behind of it. We could have an option to add new fonts either downloaded or from any website like Google Fonts.
  24. Choose 'Edit > Preferences... > Miscellaneous'. Expected: 'Reset Fonts' button. Observed: No 'Reset Fonts' button. There was such a button two or three builds ago. I think it was already missing from 1.5.0.15.
  25. I have received following message, when I have been trying to open LaTeX document. Can you give me a helping hand, where should I put LaTeX fonts to make it work. Thank you. Best, Libor X
