  1. When searching and replacing a single character (e.g. replacing a by z) and if the letter is repeated in the text (aa aaa …), the repeated letters are reduced to a single letter (aaa becomes z) after clicking the button Replace all. I would expect that aaa becomes zzz. N.B. When using repeatedly the Replace button instead, every single letter is correctly replaced. [Affinity Publisher for Mac 2.1.1, macOS Monterey 12.6.7.] P.S. Could this above be related to that ancient bug?
  2. When I have to batch replace large pieces of text without a consistent way to do this using RegEx, I would like to shift click multiple instances to replace rather than clicking the replace button for each item individually. That way, I can go over the edits much quicker manually.
  3. From using and experimenting with the spelling and find-and-replace functions in Affinity Publisher 1.7.3.481, the following behaviours seem like bugs – or at the very least, strange, unhelpful, and unintuitive – to me. Am I alone in thinking this? Set-up A test file is attached; or... create a new document; make a text frame and fill it with some text (real text, not filler text). Put a few instances of the word “cat” into the text, in different places. Test 1 Go through these menu items: Text > Spelling > Show Spelling Options In the dialogue box (entitled “Spelling”), type the word “cat” (without quotes) into the upper box. Press the Find Next button. Nothing happens. Why not? If you now repeatedly click the Change button, it repeatedly inserts whatever is in the upper box, into the text This is not really a "change" operation (changing one thing into another thing). It's just a "text insert" function, with no apparent purpose, or relationship to spelling options (nor to find-and-replace). Test 2 Close the Spelling dialogue opened in Test 1. Put a few instances of the word “horse” (without quotes) into the text, in different places. Open the Find and Replace dialogue by typing Ctrl F. Type the word “horse” (without quotes) into the Find box, and “pony” (without quotes) into the Replace with box. Nothing happens, which seems strange; it would seem logical for the cursor to move to, and select, the next instance of the word “horse”, but it doesn’t – unless and until you click the Find button. When you do that, the instances of the word “horse” appear, in context, in a list beneath the Find / Replace / Replace all buttons. Now click the Replace button, repeatedly. Each found instance of the word “horse” is replaced by “pony”, but the list of found instances does not update. It continues to show, and cycle through with each click of Replace, the original list of instances of “horse”…. ….unless, or until, you click the Replace all button. Only then does the list update, by (as would be expected) disappearing completely. bugs query - affinity publisher spelling options and find and replace.afpub
  4. Hey there! I have a lot of layers in some of my documents and occasionally find myself having to tap tap tap tap tap opening and closing groups of layers to find the layer I just selected. A button to show the layer in the hierarchy would probably save me a bunch of time! Perhaps there is already such feature? Adriaan
  5. A little weirdness. I indexed the word "Generator" and then went to the View/Studio/Index Topic item and performed a "Find In Document" - this is what it brought back - another word that is similar to the word "Generator" but NOT the same word at all. It brought back the word "General" and offered to index those entries under the topic "Generator" As Data said once about how to pronounce his name - "one is my name, the other is not"
  6. This falls under the category of annoying and carpal tunnel issues. In the view/Studio/Index window, one may right-click a Topic and perform a "Find in Document" for all occurrences of the topic. After you make a change (add a check mark or remove one, etc.), and click "Done", the index Topic list reverts all the way back to the top of the list. If you do not make a change and then click "Done" the list stays where you were. However, if you first highlight / select the topic (rather than just right-clicking it), then the list will bring you back to the topic you highlighted. What would be more useful is to bring the user back to the same Topic that was just edited/changed or viewed and not changed (and not require that the Topic be highlighted beforehand - that's an extra 'click'). You can see that this gets worse the farther you go down the list since you have much farther to scroll to get back to where you were.
  7. Aff. Publisher 1.7.2, MacOS 10.13.6 (High Sierra) Not really bugs but annoying deficiencies in user interface : 1. I can find no way to keep all frame boundaries visible, making it impossible to butt one against another. (No snap on here.) 2. After detaching a master page (via ctrl-click menu), the 'Finish' button is obscured by the studio. 3. I like the listing of matches following Find but when you highlight one in that list, it really should be highly in the text also. In fact, the first instance ought to be highlit there anyway. 4. The rendering of a page still doesn't look anything like as clean as it does in InDesign, somehow. 5. I can find no way to directly kill an instance of hyphenation. 6. InDesign's 'Composer' does a better job of formatting a paragraph. Not sure exactly what it does, but it seems to juggle tracking as it lays out a paragraph, and perhaps hyphenation. I can only match it in Publisher by applying different tracking to individual sentences and words. I do NOT mean to be negative here, just helping with aspiration. Over all, I'm happy with the job Publisher does and am moving over to it (despite CS5.5 working acceptably well on High Sierra). I don't feel the need to catalogue the things it does better than InDesign. The recent MacFormat review said enough. Well done guys, but please keep at it (especially Footnotes and IDML import).
  8. While the Replace button works well the Replace All button freezes the program.
  9. I like finding and replacing function. There are many ways to search for words, formatting or styles. Unfortunately the button "Reset Format" has to be clicked twice. In the "Find Option" at "Find" and at "Replace". Would it make sense to place one "Reset Format" button on the interface?
  10. Looking for a color replacement tool. Here's my scenario: I import pdf file vector graphics from a music notation software. Unfortunately this program is unsuccessful in exporting cmyk-colors which are absolutely needed for print. With Indesign I could search through the whole document including all linked PDFs and replace any specific rgb-color with a cmyk-color. I'm totally not a fan of the subscription model of Adobe, so this feature would make me switch to Affinity Publisher. I'm already using Designer and Photo since Day 1. Replacement presets would be killer. Any chance that's a future feature?
  11. Dear developer, I used a quick style change with find in PagePlus. I find a text, click on Select all, and replace style on paragraph styles window. Now I tried same function with find. Word has founded, but in Options menu of Replace with I see only my custom style only, no other style (Heading paragraph or other).
  12. Where is the Find and Replace (text) function? Publisher help says there is one and that you find it under 'Find' in the Text menu. But I can't see it. Louismac
  13. I hope this isn't mentioned elsewhere. In my work with books and other documents, I use the find and replace opine in Indesign to find all the numbers as an example and replace the font with another one. I can also save this find and replace as a preset and if you have ever tried to change the font of only numbers or change all the quotation marks to straight double quotation marks in a 150 page book, you can imagine how time saving this can be. I am very happy with this first beta, there are already things I can see loving to use in my work and look forward to hopefully ePub exports, the ability to import large texts documents that will automatically create additional pages to fit the text, packaging files for the printer and likely a ton of features I never thought about but you guys will come up with.
  14. I don't know if there is a way that when i click an elements, automatically find it in the layers window, because if i have a lot of layers i must to search for it if I want to move it. If there is no way to do this in this version i think it should be added, very important.
  15. Can you please add "Find in Layer Panel" to a toolbar in Affinity Designer/Photo? I can't add a shortcut in macOS for it because it doesn't exist in a menu, outside of right clicking something on the canvas. More specifically, I can add it, it just doesn't work. I'm finding myself having to find several dozen layers individually for adjustments because AD's cmd+shift+v often times fails to apply the same sized effects to different layers. This happens to me a lot; I don't know the cause (I haven't resized the layers, but I have rotated them).
  16. Hello again guys ^^ Feature request: - Find layer by name and by state (locked, type, selected, hidden, etc.) Other request(s) of the same topic: https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/26506-search-find-or-filter-layer-name/ Thanks!
  17. Dear Affinity Team, I love your application - it's just fantastic. Infinitely better than anything Adobe has contributed to the software market (and I have Adobe software). It is my preferred graphics editor hands down! I have been working on a few documents recently that are very large, with many elements, that I am tweaking for someone else after they paid for them to be created commercially. Unfortunately, the company that created the document didn't group or layer it very well. It's nigh on impossible to tweak the file without spending ages looking at each individual element. Would it be possible to add a feature to search for element types, for example, text etc. It won't find the exact object I'm looking for, but it would certainly help to limit the number of elements I manually need to search through! Hope you might be able to consider this for a future release. Best regards, Moi :)
  18. Please, direct me to a place where I can find documentation of Affinity Photo. I mean, direct me to a detailed documentation, that gives from baby steps to light speed travel everything to the user. Be the user experienced or a new one. Tutorials may serve a very good purpose, but they are mosaic-like for me. If there is an instruction set built in, please, guide me to the beginning of it. Thank you. Merci bien, Köszönöm, Danke schön.
  19. A terrifically useful feature of Canvas is Find by object attribute or properties. This allows you to select all objects with like properties and change them en masse rather than the tedious job of changing them individually. Thus, you can change all objects of one color to a different color, or select all polygons with the same color, line width, but different fills and then change the just the line width. This functionality is improved even more if one can "grab" all the properties of an existing object and then you can select all like objects.
  20. Good Morning, I'm just finishing my first piece of artwork produced with Affinity, and really enjoyed the process so far. However I would like to experiment with some different colours schemes, Is there a way to select and edit colours rather than replacing individually? or can I set up colour pallets with global settings?
  21. In a document with some "Draw personas" and some "Pixel personas" layers ( hm, what does "personas" stand for?) to me it appears to be difficult to select some objects by clicking on its visual in the documents page view. Yes, I can click through the "Layers" panel – but I wonder if I am doing any wrong when I try to select an(y) object just visually on its documents area view. –> Is it possible to achieve/select any object (= child layer) on a documents 'paper'/'screen' view? –> If yes: how? – Any keys to hit while clicking? It seems it helps/i need to switch "personas" to enable one or the other object selection in the documents view. – Is this intended?
