  1. why are Recent picked colors are not listed when using VECTOR FLOOD FILL? bug???
  2. Just reposting this v1 feature request in the v2 feedback forum. Would be good to know if implementing this feature is even possible, I assume the inner software architecture doesn't allow it (only bitmaps) and it might only be possible with a hacky and unstable implementation, but if you can confirm it at least we can close the question with a definite answer. Here's the v1 thread:
  3. I tried searching in help, youtube and here in the forums. I don't know if I'm searching wrong. Can any one please help on how to fill with foreground color in the ipad app as we do in the desktop one. I need to select some areas and fill them with the selected foreground color for my work but I'm not able to find the option for it.
  4. Affinity does not recognize bitmap fill pattern in SVG created by other apps. Tested with Illustrator, Inkscape, Figma & Lunacy.
  5. It is entirely possible that my thinking has gone wrong, but I am unable (sometimes) to change the color of a previously colored rectangle. Notice below that have the rectangle behind the word Margaritaville selected and both the fill and stroke color are pink/red. However, the background of the rectangle remains blue. Has my thinking gone awry or is there a problem here? Thanks
  6. When a fill layer is edited using the Fill menu command or the Fill Primary Color command or the Fill Secondary Color command, the color is written to the alpha channel as transparency and is not used as a color in the fill layer as expected. This is particularly annoying since a color can only be changed in a Marco using these commands. Yours Erdi12
  7. The opactity changes when I click hold the Paintbucket tool in Affinity Photo 2.2.1, Windows 10.0.19045. If this is intentional, the changes are erratic, because the preview shows a change in fill opacity. Video 2023-10-27 13-37-12.mp4 Steps to reproduce 1. Create a new document 2. Add a pixel layer and make it white 3. Make a selection with a selection tool 4. Activate the Paintbucket tool, select another fill colour, click hold and drag the mouse sideways. 5. Notice the fill tolerance changing erratically and/ or the opacity in the Paintbucket tool changing.
  8. Why is it so difficult to just fill a rectangle with a colour. Nothing works after over an hour trying everything?
  9. Apologies for my lack of proper terms and understanding of math. But is there a fill mode or method that will let you fill a shape with another shape with the shapes colliding. Basically take a tear drop shape and fill with with as many circles as possible without them colliding or getting clipped by the parent tear drop shape? Like a density fill or packing. I've included a quick illustration to help my explain and visualize my thinking. Hope it makes sense
  10. Instead of having to select vectors every time. One should be able to just select the bucket and click and fill and all visible vector in the selected area are used to create the vector fill. The option to select should exist yet not required. Along with that there should a gap tolerance that will still fill the area making up for small gaps one might not have seen.
  11. Hi guys, I hope you can help... At some point my affinity changed and I am not able to see a path while drawing with pencil tool using only fill/no stroke. basically I do not see I am drawing until I lift my apple pencil- then the filled object appears. while having stroke on everything works fine. I am new to affinity and tried everything, I even reinstalled the app- problem not solved... thank you
  12. Please add the contour mode to the gradient fill, as is possible with the side effects. This would make it easy to create a frame around objects.
  13. The select same command does not select the same strokes for me: 2023-01-11 18-41-25.mp4 The colours of the pink and purple are completely different when selecting the same fill and stroke colour. This is also the case when selecting by stroke colour: 2023-01-11 18-43-25.mp4 Now I finally understand why this selection method wasn't working the way I wanted too, it's just completely broken in 2.0.3. Windows 22H2. Although it's a known issue (by design) that Designer also selects hidden and locked layers, see: I know I also filed a bug report for this in the past in the past, but cannot find it through the forum search. But please, restrict selections with select > same to only visible, unlocked layers. Please.
  14. I would like to see a rectangular gradient fill being added so I can create gradients on rectangles that work from both horizontal and vertical directions. Designer crashed when zooming out after having created the mock-up, so will have to do with this large image 😅.
  15. Locked layers can still be manipulated in terms of fill and stroke colour and other stroke properties. I would expect everything to be locked when locking a layer, so I won't accidentally make changes to the object/ layer, which is the whole reason locking layers exists. Steps to reproduce 1. Create a bunch of objects 2. Group them (and promote the group to layers) 3. Lock both the layer and the object 4. Change the fill colour 5. Notice how appearance changes are permitted 2022-11-21 14-27-00.mp4 2022-11-21 14-33-33.mp4 E: You can also continue drawing/ adding objects to locked layers. So there's no real way to actually make sure a layer remains unchanged.
  16. When placing an image, the fill colour of my image frames disappears in Publisher when the file is linked. The first file is copied from the web and pasted into the image frame. The second image is saved to disk and then brought into the frame with the replace image button (I had to actually replace images earlier to retain scale and position). 2022-11-17 17-48-02.mp4 Notice that when the image is deleted, it leaves a white mark where the fill is supposed to be. Removing the stroke of the object gets rid of this, despite not having applied a stroke, nor a stroke colour. Steps to reproduce: 1. Create an image frame that spans the entire page 2. Select the image frame and apply a fill to it 3. Click the replace image button and place an image 4. Notice how the fill colour of the image frame disappears. Image placing policy is set to embedded. This is on Windows 10 19044.2251 (21H2).
  17. Would be nice if I cloud use the equivalent command to the Expand/Expand Appearance in Illustrator that will separate the stroke and the fill to individual objects. The Expand Stroke command leaves the "bleed" of the fill under the stroke. The Geometry or the Shape Builder needs many steps if it's a complicated object or a group of multiple objects.
  18. Elisse con foro.psdElisse con foro.psdHello, in the attached file I designed two elissi on a transparent background. The smallest is positioned inside the largest. How do you proceed to color the interior of the large Elisse, however leaving the interior of the small Elisse empty? Thank you Elisse con foro.afpub
  19. I would like there to be an option in the colour picker to apply sampled colours of filled objects to the selected object's fill colours. Similarly, sampled strokes should be applied to the selected object's stroke colour. This is how it works in Illustrator and bypasses to have to check whether fill or stroke colours are active to determine to where your colour ends up going. For any non-vector objects that were sampled, the colour should still be applied to whether the stroke or fill is currently active. This saves quite a lot of time if you need to apply colours to newly created objects it helps if you can sample them from objects that were already created. This proposal does not cover stroke widths (or appearances in general, which the tool currently does not sample). For that, see:
  20. Picking a color for Gradient strokes and fills, only works from the gradient menu. In the gradient menu there is the option for color. However from this color panel I do not have access to my swatches. Further more, if I navigate to my swatches and select a color, that color overrides the gradient on the object as one solid color. Same goes for the color panel. Note -- For fills I can work around this by using the Fill tool to create the adjustable line for gradients, selecting the nodes on the adjustable gradient line and then selecting colors from my swatches or the color panel with out the swatches overriding the gradient to a solid fill. I should be able to select a color for gradients from swatches and the color panel while I have the gradient panel open with nodes selected. I should not be limited to the single "color selector" button that is within the gradient panel. I feel like it could almost be done away with, as I'm sure most people have their color panel or swatch panel located somewhere on their screen. Edit : I have found that within the gradient color selection there is a drop down which allows me to access my swatch colors. This provides me with a useable work around for coloring stroke gradients. However my point still remains that this color selection button could be done away with. I already have my color panel, and swatch panel, open in my work space, I use them very frequently and habitually. It is very frustrating to have these extra steps/clicks to navigate to and color gradients. When the color and swatch panel are used so frequently, it is very anti intuitive that they both do not work for gradients.
  21. I prefer using the 1 column width toolbar, but it comes at the cost of not having a fill & stroke colour widget there. I prefer to have it there, because it gives me a clear indication on first glance. And it stays there regardless of the studios I have opened. It is also the closest to the canvas and since you already glance the tools to know the active tools, it would be the ideal place to add this. Hopefully this will be reconsidered! Also, see the discussion here:
  22. I want to use Select > Select Same to filter my objects from a PDF. In Illustrator, I can use Select Same to get all the objects that have a particular stroke & fill colour without selecting objects. I can use this to sort items along a gradient/ palette. The workflow is as follows: create a document palette > select the first colour > Select Same > Group > Deselect, pick the second colour rinse and repeat. This is also helpful to retrieve objects that are nested deep within the PDF, as long as you know the colours of the object.
  23. In the appearance panel, I only see a single stroke and fill property when I select multiple objects or layers: This is the case, despite both objects sharing the exact same appearance: This also means that if I go to the appearance panel and duplicate the stroke, the duplicated stroke is applied to all objects and I am not able to see this in the panel itself! That shouldn't be the case. Hopefully, this will be addressed together with a feature request of mine, which is to apply an appearance a layer:
  24. Hello, is it possible to automatically fill in areas that are made of several paths? So I don't have to draw an area again that was already surroundet by lines that were not coherent. It would be really nice if you could do that with one of the Affinity products, so far I haven't found a function for this. Greetings
