  1. Sometimes I lock the objects but I still want to snap to them. I hope it's possible to add an option to check on the Snapping's options panel.
  2. A feature to hide (but not delete) pages in an Affinity Publisher document is much needed. This should take into account proper page renumbering (or the ability to include "disabled pages" in the numbering). When exporting, the hidden pages should of course not be displayed.
  3. What I'm thinking of is an alternative to the classic layers: a node editor, where each layer would now be a node, with a mask and before input, so that you can reuse layer groups. What I'm thinking of: Each node has inputs and outputs depending on the type (example blur: input=image, radius form=type, radius, output=image) Creating groups and naming them storing created groups as global templates (like macros, but as components that can be stored) adding custom inputs to groups with custom labels maybe sharing groups online? (like as a marketplace for quick templates) As an orientation for how it would work, I would like something like Blender 3Ds node editor. As for how it's integrated into the UI, either it's a separate editor that you need to toggle on/off on a per-project basis, or it's a layer (like a node layer or something) that then opens a UI
  4. I had the pleasure of using Aldus and Macromedia Freehand back in the day. Many of its features I still miss in Illustrator, Affinity Designer and others. One of them is to be able to convert any vector line into a Guide. Straight lines, bezier curves, standard shapes, custom shapes - all had the option "Make Guide" which made it very convenient to construct geometrical designs - like a double point perspective projection. This was so easy to do with Freehand, draw a horizon line, the perspective points, set up the perspective lines, make guide and lock them in place. The guides in Affinity across the board are so lackluster in comparison to how they worked in Freehand. Please please, pretty please make Affinity Designer more like the modern age Freehand and start with the power and flexibility of its Guides system. Thanks :)
  5. Hi, Currently, the only way to blend objects in Affinity is to use the gradient tool and copy object 1000 times. A dedicated Blend Tool would simplify this process and save time for users. Current method: Suggested (like Xara Designer or Adobe Illustrator):
  6. I think highlight new features on menus could help user easier examine them. Not just for all version but for big leap versions/big updates I guess.
  7. Hi Symbols in Designer is a great feature. However, I need Symbols in Photo too since I do most of my art in Affinity Photo. I re-use and change multiple “objects” when creating a game scene. Symbols are later exported to Unity. I have complete software series so I can use symbols when switching to Designer Persona in Publisher. This is an issue since Affinity Publisher removes other features like Export Persona that I need. My request is to enable Symbols in Affinity Photo too. (The embedded document option is not a good solution for my work). Best regards
  8. Hello Serif Team ! This message to submit a suggestion : The ability to work with out of canvas elements displayed. Right now, we are able to see out of canvas elements by clicking on the "crop" tool and, next, by enabling the display option. That's good, but you can't continue to work in this mode, it's just a "preview". The ideal implementation would be to add an option in the preferences under the "user interface" section to allow to realy work with every element displayed. In this mode, the canvas wouldn't crop anything anymore. This option exists in Gimp. Best regards, Sébastien
  9. Hey everyone, I've been working with Affinity Publisher for quite some time now (actually I'm a day one user) and before that I worked over half a decade with the equivalent of the big A. So, I'd like to think I already have some experience with DTP software. Still, here I am coming back to questions that arise every now and then when working with interdependent Text Styles. (Some things I never quite get used to, heh. 😅) Question: Is there any documentation or overview of the different options (I know, there are a lot) or a section in the FAQ or help file that I missed that helps to explain them and the context/requirements? Just as an example: I am currently stuck and wondering how (and if at all) I can combine a pragraph style with a character style, So if I change the character style, all the associated paragraph styles adapt as well? Thanks for pointing me in the right direction! For those wondering what the heck is he talking about, here's a screenshot of the first tab in the left list – there are many more options:
  10. I'm trying to combine these two curves into one. Optimally, this should result in a sharp point at the intersection. Other programs like Illustrator or Blender solve this problem with a knife tool or similar. I can't find any information about how to do this online. Please help. Thanks in advance.
  11. Feature Request: Missing fonts imported as Bitmap that can convert to a default text if you need to edit them. I work with a lot of simple PSD files for my work and I am transitioning to Affinity but its super bothersome that it lacks this feature from Photoshop where I can open a design and missing fonts will be displayed as pixels/bitmaps but if I use the text tool I can edit only the text boxes I need. Sometimes I just need to change a phone number on a design. With Affinity my options are everything is Bitmap or everything's text. I'm suggesting a smart hybrid where its all bitmap but converts to a generic font if you need to edit it similar to how Photoshop handles it. It seems like you have everything you need already in the software to make this suggestion happen it just needs to be dynamically there rather than all or nothing. Thanks.
  12. Hi all, Not sure if I am missing it, but is there some kind of shape interpolation feature in Affinity Designer? I swear I read it before, but I can’t seem to find the functionality. The idea is to have two shapes or paths (ie, a curved and a straight one), and having the software calculate the intermediate forms depending on the number of defined steps between them. Much appreciated for the help.
  13. For me, the i'd welcome the Slice Tool being able to Snap to Grid. Better still would be for it be able to detect snapping constraints in similiar fashion to the node/pen tools.
  14. Can you implement a function in the node tool that allows us to remove a node with one click? Maybe using a modifier key (Shift, Ctrl, or Alt) + click on the node we want to remove; or simply by clicking on an existing node. Something like this: Thanks! 😉
  15. Can you designate an exclusive panel for what has to do with the administration of the "artboards"?, something like what illustrator has. Just so you don't accumulate a bunch of "Artboards", each with its own layers (be it a few or a lot) in the layers panel. Some way to show, in the layers panel, only the layers corresponding to the "Artboard" in which we are working, for greater order.
  16. I will be happy if you could add the "Shape Builder" tool to Affinity Designer like in Adobe illustrator it will be very helpful. This feature will go with Affinity Designer to the next level. I hope that you will take my request into consideration. Thank you
  17. I will be happy if you can add the feature "Expand or Expand appearance" to expand objects in Affinity Designer like in Adobe illustrator. Thank you so much, I hope you will take this request into consideration
  18. If you could add this feature of "Merge" in pathfinder tool like in Adobe illustrator it will help in vector art coloring easily. I hope you take this request into consideration. Thank you
  19. Is there a way to change or replace a created contour and fill style for all instances after it has been applied to many objects?
  20. It would be great to have an auto-merge/unite feature for the Pencil Tool in Designer. Working in vector can often result in hundreds (or even thousands) of layers and potentially unnecessary individual curves, so being able to have them automatically merge as you draw would be an incredible time-saving and workflow-streamlining feature. I think that having an option (ideally placed in the Context Toolbar for the Pencil Tool) to "Auto-Merge" as you draw would be great. A good example of this would be Adobe Illustrator's Blob Brush Tool, where the strokes are automatically expanded and and merged with other strokes that have the same style/fill. Obviously Designer's Brush Tool isn't purely vector (i.e. the brushes are often based on raster textures and can't be expanded/outlined), so i think the Pencil Tool would be the perfect candidate for something like this. This would give vector illustrators, who like to draw by hand, an option to keep their layer stack tidy - almost as if they were drawing on a raster layer. I've also had to send simplified files to clients for screen printing, and trying to manually find, select, and unite a thousand+ vector curves is not a fun time for any user (or their computer) - I've actually had Designer freeze and crash on me a few times while attempting this due to the volume of layers I was trying to merge. It would be much more efficient to have the option to do this from the get-go.
  21. Hello, I'm trying the Publisher demo to see if it could replace some work I do in Photoshop. There's a feature I need a lot in my designs, it's the Pattern overlay. Let's say I'm picking a rectangle, I go to Layer style > Pattern overlay and pick a pattern (you can import .pat files) and then this pattern is applied repeatedly to the shape. I can play with transparency, size, etc. I haven't found anything to do the same in Affinity Publisher. The Fill tool doesn't do the same.. Any idea for me, as this is really a blocker 😞 Will this feature come? Otherwise, I love the software.. great job guys. Thanks.
  22. Dear Ladies and Gentlemen, it would be a nice feature to assign colors from a palette to a group of items. The workflow could be the following: 1. Create a document and palette. 2. Click on different items, which should become a different random color from the palette. I wished this feature many times. At the moment I'm selecting all of them manually and try to color them in a 'random' way. Best wishes
  23. Hi. When adding an overlay on the Develop Persona you see it as a red color. That color disappears as soon as you start adjusting the picture. Is there any way to show that red color again? I have my Master overlay, and added three other Brush Overlays (see image). But now there's no way for me to know which one is which, because when I click in one of them there is no visual feedback on the image. It would be great if the red overlay color would show up when you select the overlay. Thanks.
  24. It would be great if Affinity desktop programs had an auto-update feature, without having to manually download files.
