  1. I use the Mesh Warp to extend the background of some images. But there is no option to constraint the handle drag horizontally or vertically like in the perspective warp or most of the other dragging tool. It's much a needed option, especially on image that fit horizontally or vertically only. I don't think this should be a hard one, so please add in the next update.
  2. Really don't like that layer effects panel has moved and is more cumbersome to access...and takes up more screen real estate. It was very handy and compact in v1 - would like to see the option to move it back to the right-hand panel!
  3. One of the reasons why I bought V2 was the DXF import function. Please add the ability to save a file as a DXF. My bad for assuming it could. I bet I am not the only one.
  4. The Affinity apps have three different types of buttons of add layers in the layer panel: "Add Pixel Layer" In Photo and Designer "Add Layer" in Designer and Publisher "Group Layers" in Photo The Layer from "Add Layer" in Designer and Publisher is very useful for organizing content and preserving separate selection for items inside of it. While the "Group" is useful for adjusting multiple items together. I know that Photo has Auto-select feature now, but it's better to have both types in the same document. T his is also the same type of organizational layer in Photoshop and other raster software, I don't know why Affinity decided to make Photo different. My workflow in Photo now is almost opening the document first in either Designer or Publisher, pressing "Add Layer" a couple of times and then returning to Photo. If you add "Add Layer" like in the other apps, it'll make organization easier and save me 2 minutes of my life each time I create a new Photo document. The Group Layers can be created by just clicking ctrl+g, or can be left alongside it.
  5. (request 1)With CNC machines becoming more affordable for many people. The ability to create G-code to realise concepts and designs for manufacturing is becoming more important in many workflows. For example I make drawings for a cnc router, making use of the corner tool in V1 daily ((request 2)kind of wish there is a use last diameter button as I have to set a minimum radius of all internal corners). The industry is massive and I am sure that a path to G-code tool would sell more copy's of the software. Your almost there with the ability to set a scale on a drawing and work with DXF files and the shape joining tools are incredible . If this is something Affinity would look into including, I suggest you start with looking at the slightly broken free plugin available for Inkscape. Or look at the feature rich JSCut website. On a personal note; I absolutely love using "Designer" it's one of the most relaxing drawing experiences I've had on a computer. It's almost perfect for me, but lacking the G-code tools I'm desperately searching for or, at least the ability to export in (request 3)inkscape's version of svg, for import into other path making programs (I'm fed up of using inkscape just to save a document).
  6. Moving tabs/windows using a mouse cursor can become a bit, " too much" and can become a bit difficult to do since the space, in height, is quite small, therefore, it's quite inefficient. Part 1: Moving tabs/windows left or right. If, this does get implemented, it would make my life a quadrillion times easier, as I'm a right handed person and I follow the Left to right system, so I organise my tabs from (current) -> (last). Part 2: Moving tabs/windows to the very left or to the very right. This, however, is gonna save more time, and makes things more efficient for people like me who organises their tabs from (current) -> (last), its gonna make our lives easier ... I have no clues on what to expand upon this. (I may change this post a little bit)
  7. Although the range of picker types you have is quite wonderful, I'm used to working with HSB/V (Brightness or Value) instead of HSL (for lightness.) It's a common way of specifying colors especially in the land of video. HSL is a similar user experience, but there are a lot of times where it just makes sense to think of 100% brightness (which, to get the same RGB value, somehow works out to 50% lightness.) (And as you probably know, Adobe Photoshop's picker has HSB, not HSL.) This website does a great job of dynamically showing the difference: http://colorizer.org Would you consider adding this option to Designer/Photo/Photo for iPad? Thanks.
  8. I have recently started using Affinty Designer and found that few basic features were missing which all the other professional Vector Editing Software have. Split Point ( This feature allows to break the point into Two separate points ) Minus/Plus or remove/add node ( Feature in Pen Tool to add or remove a node without limiting to shift to different tools ) Break Apart or Release Compound Path ( After Separating a shape with subtract front from back I need to be able to use both separations as different object rather than one single unit ) Create Clipping Mask or Power Clip option in Context Menu and Also Ctrl/Command + Drag object over other object for Quick Power Clipping(This feature is required for the reason of better efficiency ) Actions or Automation ( This Feature is in Illustrator which allows pre-recorded actions to take complex or rather bulk part of the work be smoother and FASTER ) Shape Builder Tool ( This Tool makes it easier for ratio base designing ) ( This is specifically required for professional designers ) Hovering Thumbnail along side the eyedropper tool with Color information (Eg : ) ( It is much need feature if you use it ) Convert to Curves should be included in Text Drop Down Menu. Change of units from right click on ruler ( This feature allows change of measuring unit from just by right clicking on the ruler ) Convert Object to Guidelines ( This Feature allows to Convert Object into Guide Shapes ) Object Locking option in Context Menu (much needed feature for Desktop and Mac user ) Color Numeric Value in swatches with the current color mode ( This feature is highly required one suggested by dadesign I.e.: https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/77313-color-numeric-value-in-swatches/ don't know the person but really useful feature ) Thank You for Hearing,
  9. I know to some this may seem to be going too deep, but one feature that would be tremendously helpful in Affinity Designer for UI work is the ability to rename multiple layers or find and replace in a selection of multiple layers. When creating a lot of different similar layers, it's great to make a selection and be able to add or change a folder prefix, for instance. Adding the ability to create a shortcut for renaming a current layer also helps make things just a bit faster in heavy workflows. I use these in plugin form elsewhere and it saves tons of time.
  10. I know I'm not the first person to request this; apparently a couple requests were made back in 2015 and it still hasn't been implemented. In Adobe Illustrator, when you export to SVG, all of the various hidden layers are exported as well, with display="inline" and display="none" being put on visible and invisible layers, respectfully. Part of my HTML5 game is built around showing and hiding various layers of an SVG, using css classes to show different layers at different times. The build pipeline for the game takes Illustrator's odd converting of layer names into pseudo-html-safe strings and reverts them to be used as class names on the elements, and I was happy to redo that bit to function with however Designer outputs its SVG and re-prepare it for use in my project. But Affinity Designer just removes the hidden layers, period. There's no option to NOT have it remove the layers, there's only an option to remove additional layers for some odd reason. I get the reasoning behind wanting to optimize SVG for the web, but that should be an option left for me to decide, not have it dictated to me by the program. I have an SVG optimizer already in my build pipeline, and its tailored to my needs, meaning it doesn't remove the hidden layers I want to keep while still allowing me to remove bloated pixel data that might be left over. Why is turning off this unwanted optimizing not an option in Designer? And more importantly, why is it still not an option after apparently five years of it being requested? And before it's suggested again, no, just unhiding all the layers is not a suitable work around. It's tedious to have to make sure every nook and cranny of a complex SVG is unhidden just so it will export, and couple that with the fact that I have several of these SVGs, and it's just not worth the hassle. Plus, it's nice that the SVGs inherently look correct when viewed outside the game window because their initial hidden/shown properties are kept, while still being able to work correctly. I was recommended the Affinity suite as a cross-platform replacement for Adobe's suite (I'm basically using a decades-old version to avoid the subscription stupidity). But this behavior (coupled with the lack of support for opening AI files natively - though I can understand why for that) is a major deal breaker...
  11. In Microsoft Word, it is possible to select all occurrences of a given format and then apply a new or different style. This is very helpful when importing text from different Word files that different formatting. I cannot find how to do this so I suspect this is a feature request. Thank you in advance.
  12. Hi I had brought this up in a Designer forum, but nothing happened. It matters even more in Publisher, hence this request. I am being required to submit a PDF for web viewing (iTunes Digital Booklet) that has its Initial View options set for Full Screen. Although I can set other initial view options (zoom, facing pages etc.) in my third party reader, it seems that the Full Screen option is elusive. I cannot find any freeware app that will set Initial View to Full Screen, and It seems wasteful to buy a full-blown copy of Acrobat just to do that one thing. Please could you add a full set of Initial View options to the PDF export dialogue. It would be a valuable - and logical - addition to the program. Thanks, Alan
  13. Hello I would like to propose a feature that would allow the user to switch between the orginal and the current adjustment of raw image in a faster way. I am aware of the syncing feature but there are times when it just takes a lot of steps to just view the orginal especially if you accidentaly synced the wrong adjustment. This new toggle button feature would just allow a quick way to switch from orginal. In a simple way, this is like a toggle button that disables all the effects/adjustments including the overlays.
  14. Hello guys. I would like to propose a feature that would make snap settings simpler by using some icons/symbols. The current snapping menu is already good but needs some tweaking and additional options, making the menus more visually simple and clear by using icons and hide the advance options in an advance section. 1."Edge/Line Midpoint Snapping" - This is crucial and I hope this would be considered. 2. Better snapping (object to object/node to node,) 3.Additional Snapping areas. Ex: Intersection, perpendicaular, parallel, Quadrant point of ellipses. B. Precision tools like arc tangent tool, simple ruler, and protractor. Very Crucial for a large number of creators.
  15. Hi all, Having cancelled my Creative Suite subscription, the only Photoshop thing I miss is its ability to create keyframe animations and output them as APNG or GIF files. This is very useful for me to create little animated buttons for my 360° virtual tours. Thanks, Mark.
  16. Hello, I'm having difficulty seeing what is on the artboards while working with vector lines. The thumbnail would be useful if the background of the thumbnail were, in this case, white to match the artboard rather than a gray that is not adjustable. Otherwise please consider adding another slider under Preferences > User Interface. 🙏🏻 A failed alternative: resizing the thumbnails hasn't met my needs, and then its required scrolling up and down further because a larger thumb means a larger list, further supporting another feature request to expand/collapse entire groups/layers in the panel. Thank you, Walt
  17. I realize that you can't deactivate Mac system fonts but I really don't need those fonts in my design documents. I need only my designer fonts of which I have many. Since no one can't activate thousands and thousands of fonts all at once, on any powerful system, I activate and deactivate only what I need per project. So it would be very nice to have a clean list of fonts - only see my designer fonts that are currently active. In other words, just hide not deactivate. Can there be a switch to turn the visibility of fonts on or off? That would be so great to not have to mentally block out STIX and all those other fonts that I never use and don't need and really make it difficult for me to scroll through the list.
  18. As a landscape photographer I take a lot of exposure bracketed photographs. For a while I used to blend these exposures using HDR software, until I learned that there's a better way that produces a more natural-looking result and gives the photographer more control: manual exposure blending. Affinity Photo includes an awesome "Blend Ranges" feature that I use to accomplish this task. It takes a little practice, but this tool is more flexible than Photoshop's "Blend If" sliders (because it supports customizable and non-linear luminosity feathering), and more efficient than Luminosity masks (smaller file size). However, the process of actually setting up multiple exposures as layers ready to be blended in Affinity Photo is currently pretty manual and tedious. You have to open one or more of your files, and then drag the others in to create additional layers, or create a new stack and then cancel the stack to unstack the layers. I do this frequently enough that it's irritating that this isn't more efficient. Since switching to Affinity, I really miss the streamlined workflow from Adobe Lightroom, where I can select multiple images and choose "Open As Layers In Photoshop," which takes care of all of the setup for blending multiple exposures, with the added bonus of also not creating multiple intermediate PSD or TIFF files. Now, obviously Adobe has no incentive to support an "Open As Layers in Affinity Photo" option for Lightroom out of the box, but perhaps an enterprising developer could write such a plugin for Lightroom if only Affinity Photo would actually support the ability to open multiple files / data streams from a RAW processor as layers in a new file... In my dream workflow, it would be really neat if Affinity Photo integrated directly with Phase One's Capture One PRO, for a similar workflow to how Lightroom integrates with Photoshop. Perhaps Phase One would be receptive to such a collaboration... I suppose the gist of my feature request is that Affinity Photo is a fantastic program, but sorely lacking in some workflow/efficiency areas that matter quite a lot for people working with lots of images. Adobe, for all their faults, seem to have figured this out, and their ecosystem of products that work together is a great strength of their offering. In the absence of a similarly large suite of complementary apps, Affinity would do well to offer some basic hooks into Affinity Photo that developers can use to create a better round-trip experience when users are working with multiple apps in concert to catalogue and edit their photos.
  19. I know that I can duplicate a layer by cmd + drag. However this does not seem to work in the players panel. This is a very handy feature in illustrator as it allows to duplicate a layer without moving it and immediatly changing the order of it. I know I can cmd + j do duplicate and move it afterwards, but since this is a very often used thing, it makes working quite annoying. Please add this.
  20. Please add the ability to add pure vector based vector brushes based on vector objects for texture instead of PNGs. For now we can only add pixel based vector brushes. Being able to add pure vector brushes based on vector objects would allow us to create vector based textures and designs, which would be much easier to handle for any kind of (print) production. For example I tried to separate the colours to a spot colour PDF for screen print from this awesome work by Pierre Kleinhouse made for the Affinity Work from home series https://youtu.be/lL6gc8Oi2uw .afdesign file on DropBox: https://affin.co/LD2020PierreKleinhouse It was sort of a nightmare. I couldn't find a way to create a vector based spray texture within the Affinity Suite like in the second screen shot with the chimney. Expand stroke, working with spot colours, working with boolean operations ... a lot would be easier.
  21. I'd like to suggest the option to disable align merge sources for the Focus Merge tool. Some modern cameras, such as the Fujifilm X-T4, have in-camera focus bracketing and all my images come out aligned (unless, of course, some outside force moves the camera or subject). I primarily use Helicon Focus and when I have align sources enabled then it, too, takes a very long time. Affinity Photo is taking somewhere between 25-30 minutes for 73 photos. This is rather long considering some stacks are close to 200 images. Helicon Focus was able to stack the same images in about 5 minutes. I understand that Affinity Photo isn't primarily an image stacking application, as is Helicon Focus, but 20-30 minutes is a bit too long and, I feel, the aligning of the photos is partly to blame.
  22. When I print any file I need to keep the print settings embedded in it, so that in future I can print exactly the same image at the same media settings on the same paper at the same size. Photoshop embeds this information within the file, so that whatever device I print from, years hence it will remain the same. This is vital for limited edition prints and for all my client's work when they reorder prints. I cannot go back through files twenty years old and recreate this without the data being embedded. I don't think this would be difficult to achieve and I see that users of Publisher have asked for the same feature. Please may we have it so that I can stop giving money to Adobe for their overpriced, bloated cash-cow.
  23. For me it would be very useful, if Affinity Publishers Preflight would be able to find colours, that are not in the used swatches panel. That could prevent the accidental use of Colours, that are not wanted. I don't know, if I can make my point clear – I'm from Germany and my English is a bit clumsy.
  24. Something like this, where you could export all your artboards. The export would most likely use the artboard title as the filename.
