Lovely Greetings from Berlin, this editorial illustration is made in Affinity Designer on the iPad. »A friendly forest spirit with his avatar is looking for berry supplies in fall.« This two characters will be seen soon in my second edition of the German book: https://www.rheinwerk-verlag.de/affinity-designer_4939/ This work consistently grow really big, but the document was all time stable on iPad. I worked in both – Draw and Pixel Personas. I can not count the layers anymore! I used lots of simple shapes to create the plants and went to the Pixel Persona to create further details with simple brushes like pencils. For my colouration I created a document palette with 9 main colours and HSL shades. I just used 3 layer effects: blur and shine and shadow. The lines of the character are from my sketch and later edited. I used a lot of brush sets from FRANKENTOON and DAUB and my one customised brushes.

Hello everyone, I have created a new image as I very slowly get accustomed to Affinity Designer. The program is amazing, one day I hope to know my way around all the fine features. This post is full color, I created a signature glyph I can edit date in, and here it is. affinity photo Amateur Spotlight - Endless possibilities

Thought I might share one of my paintings drawn using Affinity Photo, the red radio is a photo and the rest is drawn to create an image for a possible concept story that I have been working upon. The eyes are drawn using one of the Affinity tutorials. I am very impressed with this software package and the company’s commitment to making the software approachable to all creators. I am self taught and really wish to encourage new talent and provide a perspective from someone who is not a professional designer but wanted to give it a go. I would like Affinity to do a series of spotlight on new amateur talent. I think that it might encourage more budding media artists and kick start new possibilities. Thanks Affinity.

There was a time when I got stuck while doing this - I couldn't find how to create a particular effect without the need for using stock photos. Fortunately, someone in here was doing live streams on YouTube and was creating the exact same effect I was looking for with a smudge brush. So my humble thanks reach out to mattitFi who kindly told me how to do it.

Apart from the backdrop (virtually gone) this image was created with photographs of water. With help from the liquify persona and blend modes I was able to realise this particular visual experiment.

It's not that I dislike Central London. . .well that's not entirely true to be honest. I can't stand the hustle & bustle of it all and stay away from it as much as I can - only going there when I need to.

Started painting again after a long layoff. My Wacom Intuos 3 large died after many years of service. Trying to get used to my new tablet a Huion Inspiroy Q11K V2. https://www.amazon.co.uk/HUION-INSPIROY-Upgraded-Wireless-Battery-free/dp/B07G8SPXF5/ref=sr_1_1_sspa?ie=UTF8&qid=1541357979&sr=8-1-spons&keywords=huion+inspiroy+q11k+v2&psc=1 Seems more than up to the Wacom and very pleased, works well with AP. Sketch a bit rough but then I'm rusty.

I have begun storyboarding photo sessions using Affinity Photo, Daz Studio, and Dynamic Auto-Painter. Cat and Mouse is a good example. I set the scene up in Daz Studio and rendered it. Then I post-processed it in Affinity Photo. Finally, to reduce the realism and get a more painterly feeling, I ran the picture through Auto-Painter. Works pretty well, I think. Now, of course, I have to do everything all over again, shooting with a live model. However, having a storyboard picture like this makes it a lot easier to figure out how to light the scene, to discuss the scene with the model, to figure out what props to use...

Some time ago I decided to try my hand at doing some nudes. It was pretty much the only genre of photography and illustration that I had not dabbled in...at least not very much. One of the things I did was a mini series in the Cavewoman sub-genre of the Lost World sub-genre of Science-Fiction. I customized a base 3D mesh to create Kyla, a Cavewoman style character, and then I proceeded to put her in varous dangerous situations, which she handled extremely competently. Most of the Kyla pictures are on ArtStation. I used a combination of Affinity Photo, Daz Studio, and Dynamic Auto-Painter to create them. Before you click the link, please note that there is an absence of wardrobe that some people might find disturbing. While the pictures are nudes, and the style is deliberately reminiscent of Frank Frazetta, Boris Vallejo, and Julie Bell, I did what I could to avoid objectification. I often use Affinity Photo in combination with other software, like Daz Studio and Dynamic Auto-Painter. Arachnophobia I was fairly easy to do. I shot the background at the Primus Vicus medieval village outside Halmstad, in Sweden. Then I rendered the spider and the viking shieldmaiden in Daz Studio, and composited using Affinity Photo. Arachnophobia II was done in a similar manner. The main difference is that I had help from two live models, Petra Brewitz and Peter Markusson. The castle in the background of the final image is Borgholm castle on Öland. I hope you enjoy the pictures.

Don't believe everything that Hollywood tells you. I have it from good authority that these two guys get on like a house on fire; the first chance they get, out comes the piano and before you know it - it's an all out rendition of "Nessun Dorma." And if you thought the Italian language was difficult to understand. . .just you wait till you hear this mother sing. Put that in your dreadlocks and smoke it!
