  1. Just thought it'd be nice to have an eraser tool in the vector/curves persona. Being able to erase part of a vector shape is really nice feature when you don't want to be doing everything manually by using the pen tool. Thanks!
  2. How could I get the white line reduced in height? And how I would I ensure that the line retains the curve at the top? I cannot simply move the object down, and I can't seem to use the layers system in Designer as successfully as I can in Photo. So if there is a neat way to erase the top of the line, while retaining the curve, that may be most helpful. Thanks
  3. I'm trying to blend in some aspects of one layer onto another but when i use a brush or the eraser to change the alpha mask the edge is always hard even when i set it to zero hardness. If you look closely at the screen grab the mask layer thumbnail shows a feathered brush but the image shows a hard edged circle.
  5. Full disclosure, I'm not suuuper experienced with design software, and I don't want to slog through project videos in case they answer this question. I searched the forums and didn't see anything about erasers, (and the advice for brushes was in a beta topic, and incomplete for a newbie like me.) While I have a goal of getting friendlier with the vector brushes, I tend to draw on paper with a pencil, then scan images and clean them in Designer (on a Windows 7 PC). I can't figure out how to make my eraser pressure sensitive with my Wacom intuos tablet. Or brushes, for that matter. I'm pre
  6. Hi. This is my first post. Can someone please tell me, or point me to a tutorial as to how to use the tools, especially the eraser, in the Tone Mapping Persona. Ideally what I would like to do is erase some of the effect to the tone mapping on my image -- is this possible. I haven't been able to find anything about this. Thanks for any help! Kim
  7. I use a combination of the Blob Brush tool and the Eraser tool in AI to "sculpt"my vector shapes. It gives the artwork a hand-drawn effect and it's a really creative way to work. Are there any plans to introduce these tools in Affinity Designer? I also use the Reshape tools and Symbol tools a lot and wonder is these are on the planned schedule at all? Here's an example where I show how I work; https://www.lynda.com/Illustrator-tutorials/Working-Blob-Brush-tool/123443/126395-4.html Here's an example that shows the basics of these tools; https://www.lynda.com/Illustrator-tutorial
  8. Hi, i would find very useful a "use selected (active) brush as an eraser" quick toggle on the context toolbar in "pixel" personas. This would improve painting or texturing workflows as in some cases i would prefer to erase with same brush tip to maintain initial texture & look. Yes, there are keyboard shortcuts to quick toggle eraser brush but i would still have to reselect the brush i had first, adjust size and settings, also if not careful one can switch between tools by mistake and be forced to ctrl + z after.
  9. Hello everyone! I have already sent a crash report (I guess, you are receiving these from Apple, right?) about this. It would be nice to know what's going on and whether or not this can be fixed in a following patch, because this crash happens quite regularly. When working like I do, Photo crashes about once every 2 minutes! So this is quite severe. This is the crash report comment I sent: " This crash happens regularly when working quickly using the Free Hand Selection tool. I have been using the Free Hand Selection tool (L) and the standard eraser (E) in full sc
  10. Could you please consider a vector eraser for a future version. Every time you erase a vector, it turns to raster :( Thanks.
  11. I searched for this but didn't find anything. I usually use a standard brush tip for the eraser when using my Wacom tablet with Affinity Paint. The drawing end will vary, but usually I don't like using something like texture or effects for the eraser. It would be nice if the eraser wouldn't change to match the drawing tip, but remained the same when switching back and forth.
  12. I'm new to affinity, trying it out to see if I like it. But I'm struggling here.... How do you delete or erase part of a line segment in a shape? I have two overlapping shapes, and I want to make them into one and delete the overlap. I rasterized the shape, but is there a way to un-rasterize it in its new form? Or is there a way to get a cleaner cut from a line segment with out it being pixelated in the first place?
  13. Hi, I'm a newbie to Affinity, so please bear with me as this is probably a really dumb question.. When I have two layers and want to partially add some transparency to the top layer, so that it fades into the background layer, I can use the eraser tool. So far so good, but how can I get the opposite effect? I mean, adding opacity to my top layer. It must be so easy but I can't seem to find it! I have seen tutorials to paint an effect using the paintbrush, but when I use the paintbrush, I can only paint in the selected color. What do I overlook? Please help! I've attached an image
  14. This is a very basic question, but I have created a drawing using the vector brush tool. Some of the lines got sloppy and I want to erase bits here and there. When I attempt to use the Eraser, it causing pixillation around the edges, instead of a nice, smooth erase. I'm sure there is a setting I can change, but I've looked everywhere and can't figure it out. Can anybody offer some assistance? I've attached a screen shot of what I'm talking about. Thanks in advance
  15. Hi, All I am trying to do is to erase parts of an image like having an eraser. I have selected the erase background tool and pressing down on the mouse and going over the sections i want to erase but it is literally doing nothing. I have used what i thought is the exact same tool on photoshop and thought it wouls be the same in practice. I can't see how else to make it work I have gone into every single option. Any help will be very much appreciated.
  16. If I draw a squiggle in Vector Persona switch to Pixel Persona select the Erase Brush Tool I can erase a portion (or all) of the squiggle I just drew. If I then switch back to Vector Persona draw a second squiggle in Vector Persona switch to Pixel Persona select the Erase Brush Tool I can only erase the second squiggle--the first one is no longer editable. If I draw two squiggles in Vector Persona switch to Pixel Persona select the Erase Brush Tool Again, I can only erase the second squiggle--the first one is no longer editable. That doesn't seem to be correct behavior, as I'd o
  17. There is a super cool feature with Pixel Tool that allows you to paint with "alpha" keeping the same tool preset. If you press CMD while painting, you can easily erase keeping the same appearance: texture, nozzle, jitters,etc... Is it possible to extend this feature to Paintbrush and Paint Mixer too?
  18. Hi, I've finished my first drawing. It was great time to discover AD freehand drawing tools for me. I try to utilize AD as freehand drawing app. I love vector and raster mixing in one place. I've started with sketchbook photo and raster brushes to make composition sketch. Next part was vector drawing with Pen, Pencil and Brush. I think Pen tool is great and intuitive but freehand drawing was very painful for me and I here are my freehand drawing improvements. 1. It would be great to have something like Clean tool. It can be something like brush but with size and tolerance option. When you
  19. If I open a scanned image in Photoshop, it opens as a single "Background" layer. And whenever you use the Eraser tool on such a "Background" layer, it Erases to White because White is the default chosen background color. Of course, if I click the little Lock icon to unlock the Background layer in Photoshop, it changes to "Layer 0" and any use of the Eraser tool in that case will erase to transparent. In Affinity Designer, everything erases to transparent from what I see, even the Background layer. In Affinity, how do I ERASE TO WHITE? Thanks.
  20. Hi, I would like to put two ideas up to discussion. I like working with AD, but also work with Manga Studio 5 a lot, and it has some nifty features that would be welcome in AD. First thing I like a lot is the vector eraser option. In MS5 you can draw on pixel and on vector layers. On the vector layer I can use the eraser to erase until intersection. This is cool as I don't have to be too fussy with overlapping lines. It works very well, and would be great in AD! I can also erase one line easily without affecting the other lines around it. 2nd thing that is quite great is the simpli
  21. I rarely open iDraw since buying Affinity Designer but there is one option in iDraw that I do miss. It was fun to use and let me create some interesting effects. I could take the Eraser tool, adjust it to the size desired, then swipe it across a shape to create a gap between the two segments. Those segments could then be selected using the Move tool and operated on as a unit, or I could use the Node tool to select only one segment to work on. Is there a way to do something similar in Designer using the Eraser?
  22. hi, Affinity Designer Team. Im Madder Merlin. I am not good at English, but will participate in the forum using the Google Translate. I want to assign a shortcut to the paint brush and eraser of pixel persona. Paint function of Affinity Designer is great, but I believe that convenience is missing. And, since want to do more instantly brush size and brush opacity, shortcut want also to these functions. This is one of the idea, I think it a great to be able to adjust the drag while pressing a particular key. Please consideration. thanks for reading.
  23. My Eraser Tool is missing from both the Tools Panel as well as the Customize Tools selections. Is this a bug or did I somehow delete it completely from AD? I'm pretty sure I saw It in my original setup a few months ago. (OK, I see there is some discussion on this in the forums. I'm assuming Eraser works like a knife tool to split vector paths, not a pixel eraser.)
  24. Currently both ends of the Wacom pen act as the same tool while drawing. Also, when switching between the brush and eraser tools, it would be nice if the size of each respective tool would remain independent from the other. Changing the size of the eraser shouldn't affect the size of the brush, and vice-versa.
